Review
A very helpful resource for learning and practicing.
Frustrating navigation
Once I start a drill or practice I must close the app to go back to the main menu. The back arrow just simply doesn’t work. Sometimes I get an error 500 msg or something. I’m going to Lichess now. This app has potential, and the setup of games was great, but this navigation error is a deal breaker.
Bug
App won’t start again. Stuck on loading screen
Wont save progress?
I have been using chessreps.com for a while now and love it and just got the app today. I’ve gone in 3 different times and every time it resets my progress in the opening I was doing. Is this a user error or just how the app is? If that’s addressed I’d give 5 stars but it’s an irritating experience as of now.
Nice
Dommage ce n’est pas proposer dans d’autres langues.
Just what I was looking for.
This is how you can deep learn quickly.
Customer Support is missing
Paid for premium 12 month subscription, 3 months left, locked out of account and support hasn’t replied in 1.5 weeks.
Great way to improve at chess
This is a great app that really helps memorize openings and all the variations to each opening, however one thing that I wish was added was the ability to see every single sub variation to each opening in a structured list that you can go through and pick whichever one you want to learn again, even if you have not completed all of the variations. I assume this app will receive significant updates and improve dramatically as time goes on and they will eventually add this feature, otherwise great app for memorizing chess openings!
Bug
It works fine in my mobile but the screen is way too zoomed out in my ipad. I cant even see or move my pieces
Great but…
I think ethan has done a great job with this app as I’ve been wanting to further my understanding with certain openings. During the free trial I was hammering the kings gambit and I learned so much in the learn mode. But on other openings I wanted to learn like the italian game there are 0 explanations on any of the moves… had I known this was an unfinished product I wouldn’t stayed past the free trial….
Good instruction
This has better, clearer step by step guidance for beginner instruction than chess.com and Lotus Chess.
Subscription malfunction
I subscribed through apple on july 6 and used it a few times. On july 8 i was unable to log in. Seemed to be a good app but I won’t deal with a buggy program so I have canceled.
Good app, reasonably priced, needs a few improvements
Enjoying the courses so far. But can you please add the ability to download courses so I can practice on the plane without internet?
Important App
Openings are just as important as middle game and end game tactics
Only for da rich
You have ti pay money for most of it
Great teaching!
This is by far the way to learn chess conveniently! I enjoy the variety and how the app changes the situation of play styles. The one thing I do wish for offline downloadable content instead of having constant need for internet connection.
It’s just that simple
It’s exactly what you pay for, beginnings for both white and black, some made by chessreps themselves and others by the community. Its good for openings but don’t forget about following through past the opening. I wish there were more things for black but otherwise its a strong recommend
Have to pay to continue
Ok the app has some potential but absolutely threw it in the trash being greedy little pigs making kids pay money to learn how to play a board game that a tutorial can easily teach you. I literally tried to play the second line and it told me to buy a membership. In my opinion worst chess app I tried even duolingo chess is better.
Why only one line
Why can I only learn one line now instead of the first five lines.
Simple
This is a great tool to begin familiarizing yourself with various chess openings and counterattacks. Good prep for casual games or large tournaments! Thank you!
Charged $50 with no trial
It said 7 day free trial and then $50 annual charge. I was instantly charged $50 with no trial period. I put in a request for refund and report for scam.
Quite good but lil expensive
B
Chess Openings
I Just Love This App Keeps Me Razor Sharp On My Favorite Openings
Lessons don't open in mobile app
The mobile app broke and now clicking in lessons doesn't open them
I’m poor
This is a great website for learning chess openings but only being able to learn 5 lines for free is abysmal apart from that it is good but at least make it 10 lines for free
Came back
I came back after a few months off because the structure of the app felt off , felt like I was forced to buy the subscription but coming back to learn openings and fundamentals is great , the upgrades are amazing . Keep going please 👍🏾
Arena Mode Broken
Arena mode doesn’t work, you play two or three moves and then the game freezes.
Pay
The website is awesome I’m loving it. But 90% of the openings only let you learn 5 lines before paying which is annoying.
Rep
I like the repetition you to practice over and over again to get it. Great learning tool.
Duolingo sue this app
This app copied the streak system that Duolingo has (used the same flame icon) and DIDN’T EVEN CREDIT DUOLINGO! That is crazy
Starting as a 460 ELO
Let’s see if this app it better then the green hats!!! I’ve had dulingo about a year now and I feel like I barely learned anything.. let’s see if chess reps can get me to where I want to be.
10/10
Might possibly be the best “chess learning” app I’ve ever used. After a week of going over the same lines it starts to click!
Good,however…
I love how you can access many openings and practice the line theories, however what this app lacks is the explaining the intention behind that move
