Fun Game - until
I really liked the game, but it has persistent ads that takeover the screen for another game.
Similar to NYT Connections
I’ve played this game repeatedly since long before the pandemic. But occasionally, I’m truly unimpressed with some of groupings. For example, I see “maroon” as a shade of red. But in one Red Herring group, maroon was included with “russet” “bronze” and “sepia” as a shade of brown. It’s not common for me to encounter these kind of problems. But it happens enough that I’ve taken a break several times over the years because of my frustration with solutions that don’t make sense to me. Obviously I enjoy the game on the whole because I keep coming back. If these glitches didn’t repeatedly occur, it would be one of my all-time favorite phone games.
Free is the Red Herring word
Good concept. However the pricing for everything beyond the first 25 puzzles is a bit excessive, especially a hint.
Great game, too many ads
This is a wonderfully simple and unique game that I've been playing off and on for years. I don't mind the structure of having to purchase puzzle packs beyond the daily free ones, as they're reasonably priced and I've always felt the developers and puzzle creators deserve it. What I DO mind, however, is that this once ad-free game is now full of ads between puzzles, and there doesn't seem to be a way to remove them. Developers, please add a one-time ad-free purchase option or remove ads for paying users automatically. Ads make for an especially poor user experience in the flow of more cerebral games like this one.

Doesn’t work with a VPN
I have enjoyed playing this app for quite a while. Once I started using a VPN, however, it won’t work. I’ll have to find another game; my online privacy is more important.

I have enjoyed this game over the years. Even though I purchase modules I still get ads popping up. I didn’t mind too much but the ad I was shown today was outright lies directed at the Canadian dairy industry. Game deleted.
Crashing issue
Crashes after every few puzzles
I’m confused?
I downloaded this today and played some easy puzzles. When I got to number five in the imagination hard level, I succeeded at “plants” and “people in charge” slots but not the others. The other words were ; Clooney, Foreman, California,Oregon, Washington, Hoover, Harrison, and Roosevelt. I expected the mystery slot to be presidents, so I slid “ Washington, Harrison, Hoover, and Roosevelt” but it was still grey. The leftover words ; Clooney, Foreman, California, and Oregon were in the red herring slot but it was also still grey. I’ve spent several minutes trying to get this right and figured it was a bug. Please correct me if I’m wrong or help me if it is a bug. Thank you very much

I love this game. It’s fun and challenging. I play it every morning, still in bed, before starting my day. Highly recommend!
Not fun anymore
Used to be a game about words and ideas, but now it is about obscure American pop culture. I may as well try doing crossword puzzles in a language I cannot speak or read.

This game could be more fun if the answers were known entities. It seems they are written by non-English speakers who just pick answers at random from the dictionary or Google.

Neat concept!
UPDATE: The developer has clarified the categories here, and has renewed my trust that these items are properly labeled. The core mechanic is well-designed, so I’ll keep playing. PREVIOUS (3 stars, “Neat concept, flawed execution”): “Orange” and “Grape” are both Spheres and Fruits. I’m aware that some items can belong to more than one category, but they should never belong to the same exact ones as other items if they do. This is a deal-breaker. Also, the UI is weird. Did you complete a puzzle? Sometimes you can tell, other times not.
No tutorial

Money hungry
Great game but the developer wants to get rich overnight. Should be able to go back to do the puzzles that you missed to at least the start of the month for free. Plus even when you want to play the three dailies lately, they wont load and then you are not allowed to go back play then when and if they do work.
Clever & unique! Relaxing & mindbending!
This is one of my all-time favorite games. It’s so simple but so challenging. it’s relaxing to play. I really like everything about it. There’s enough freebies to play a few minutes a day. When i strike it rich I’m buying all the packs!!

I have been playing this game for years mostly out of habit. There is never any motivation to this game. No earned points or bonuses for playing or accumulated points to get hints

Thus game is designed to throw a player off. So many wirds have multiple meanings that it becomes a real guessing game.

Many of the categories are difficult if you are not American, for example how am I meant to know rental car agencies in America?!
almost really good
cool concept, but there are references to uniquely American things that someone from another country would simply not have any reason to know—like one of the lists I got was of American car rental places, I finished the level by trial and error. the dark mode is also a real eye strain, unfortunately the bright #ff0000 shade of red is not a great choice over a pure black background. I feel like the game is just missing something. maybe it could be a good idea to group levels by difficulty level rather than ask the player which level they want at the start of each game?
Fun with info
This game keeps me playing, learning facts and jogging my memory. Some hints are so obscure and some so close to being something else, but that’s the point. Keeps me thinking outside the box and learning at the same time. Great idea and brilliant name.
Don’t bother if you are not from the US
If you are not American, or don’t have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the place, then don’t waste your time with this. For instance, one column was looking for the names of previous mayors of Chicago! The majority of the columns are looking for American related things that most non Americans will not get. Fun for the few times it isn’t fun overly American but not fun enough to make it worth playing.

I really like this game. But I just lost 48 hints by updating. Can i please have them back?
Too American Centric
I feel I’m going to have to delete this game. The concept is good but unless you’re an American and speak American you will have an almost impossible task to complete a game. Such a pity.

Game ruined by ads
The ads that pop up when you play the daily games have ruined all Blue Ox games for me. They are annoying and do not go away unless you press the "X" button REPEATEDLY. Players who have spent money buying extra game packs should not be subject to these ads! This feels like a bait and switch to have to sit through ads when you have paid a lot of money for bonus content!
Love the Game BUT…
The game is great but it’s crashed and constantly trying to load. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall but it went to exactly the same point rather than starting anew. Please fix quickly.
Very USA centric
Some very questionable games. Way too USA centric for those not living there. Fun to play for a short while but soon tedious unless American out living there

Addictive
Enjoyable word association game that stimulates the brain. The free daily games are great and I like that you can still access previous days’ puzzles (some apps don’t offer this). I usually do the medium or difficult puzzles with the free hints as needed. I did buy a bigger set, but found that I can quickly go through the games. Would love if the price was lower. While I don’t mind not having an incentive or reward for finishing each game or set, it may be a way for users to earn discounts on purchases, or more free games.
Too focussed on USA
An intriguing game and a pleasant way to spend ten minutes but way too focussed on the USA. Who in Australia, or anywhere outside USA for that matter, knows the suburbs of Chicago or famous players for the NY Yankees? It ends up being a guessing game. If it's too hard for writers in the USA to create puzzles with universal appeal then ask users to contribute. I'm sure plenty of people would be happy to suggest some puzzles with universal answers.
Not enough free games
Only 24 free games and then you have to pay for additional packs. It took me less than an hour to do them all - most on the hardest level. By the way...a newton is NOT a measure of weight so that puzzles was wrong.

Simple but fun brain teasers
Why did you take away the ability to play the last 3 days daily puzzles? I can't get to them every day and I feel cheated by this update. Do you really think by only having one puzzle accessible each day you'll get me to spend more? That's not going to happen, if anything I'm now less likely to buy extra packs.

I enjoy the game but you used to be able to play 3 daily puzzles and now only one is available. Disappointing.
