Pleasantly surprised!
I never thought I’d find myself wanting to play the original Final Fantasy all the way through again, but this version completely changed my mind. I first played Final Fantasy on the NES as a kid, and coming back to it all these years later, I expected the nostalgia to be stronger than the actual gameplay. Instead, I was engaged almost immediately. The Pixel Remaster feels remarkably natural on a touchscreen, especially on an iPad. Movement, menus, combat, and conveniences like auto-battle make everything feel fluid without taking away what made the original game special. The improvements go well beyond the graphics. The music is fantastic, the presentation is beautiful, and countless little refinements make the game much more accessible. Things that were once constrained by the hardware of the original NES, from character and enemy names to navigating the interface and managing battles, have been thoughtfully modernized and streamlined without getting in the way of the game itself. What impressed me most is that this doesn’t feel like someone simply polished up an old game. It feels like they understood what was great about Final Fantasy in the first place and removed much of the friction that accumulated around it with age. For someone who remembers playing the original Final Fantasy as a child, this is an absolute treat. I suddenly find myself wanting to play the entire game again, which I never expected. This isn’t just a remaster, it feels like a revitalization of the game that started it all. Extremely well done and highly recommended.

The programmers decided my choices are: 1) Listen to their sounds; or 2) Total. Silence.; or 3) Not playing. I choose 3.
Great, but
How do you heal your characters? I lost lots of hp in my battle angst garland, and I can’t heal from it. I have to keep going back to my most recent saved games. Could you please make it easier to heal for beginners?
Good game, critical flaw
This is a great game. It is a classic, it’s fun yet challenging, and something to play casually or seriously. But there’s just one thing. The lack of auto save. If I leave the game for three minutes after playing for an hour, I’m at my last save. And I don’t save if I’m just going onto a search engine for 5 minutes. I once went from level 16 to 7, because I shut off my device without saving. Please either add autosave or make it hold my progress. Great remake though, but just can’t enjoy it like this .
It's alright
No issues with the game itself, but it hasn't aged very well. Very tedious. I think you'd have had to play it back in the day to appreciate it.
Fantastic gameplay
Although, it may not seem interesting, walking around and pressing commands, after exploring around for a bit and die the first time start to learn that the game is more fun when you lose progress. The works well as an introduction and honestly after playing Final fantasy and Final fantasy 2 remasters, I can’t get enough of the classic turn based rpgs with weird mechanics, and hopefully they add Final fantasy 5 to the apple arcade roster.

They MASSIVELY made it easier from the switch and original. Level three and you already have 100 health as a fighter. Fights are made much easier, puzzles nerfed, and the effects are gone after a battle making heals and items essentially useless. This takes away from the game SO MUCH and makes me a little sad. You can play with nintendo switch, xbox, playstation and apple controllers which is a great plus.
Fun!! Needs a Mac app
Great game. You know how it is. It’s an old classic. I wanted to put it on my computer though and play it there rather than my phone or iPad. Bring it to Mac, please
Freezes a lot
The game is fun, brings back fond memories. However, the game constantly freezes on my 16 Pro. Since there is no auto-save, I lose everything since my last manual save. This is very frustrating. Since the freezing happens constantly, I end up playing every part multiple times.
No portrait mode
Only able to play in landscape, so probably wont ever play it. Oh well, seems neat otherwise.

Good, not important to SE
They haven't updated the game since launch even though it has bugs. Though they have done a very good job with what's here, I'm hoping to see SE continue support with Apple TV or Vision support for this game, and other FF titles on Apple Arcade. At the very least, update it.
Hängt sich sehr oft auf
Spiele auf meinem Iphone 15 Pro und das Spiel hat nach dem Öffnen von Truhen oft einen Hänger. Der Text mit dem Truheninhalt verschwindet nicht. teils sind 20-30 min lvln in einer Höhle dadurch weg. Das ist richtig ärgerlich.

Great game but where is the Apple TV support? It’s a huge opportunity lost to unnecessarily restrict it.

Too buggy to play
This is a great port and take me back to my NES days, but it’s just too buggy to enjoy. Using a tent or sleeping bag causes the game to hang indefinitely. It also happens when you reach a major milestone in the early game. Since there doesn’t appear to be a fix, the game is basically unplayable.
Stuck in the Past
It’s a good update to a very old game. The graphics are nice and the music is excellent. But the mechanics are terribly outdated and the story is still non-existent. Battles are tedious and unsatisfying. I’d say get to the initial bridge crossing, then examine if you’re having fun.
I love the adventurers
This game is is really fun I really like the adventurers like the structures, caves, and bosses. My favorite boss is the Lich a huge skeleton that has a purple cape. Also the potions and magic for my character shadow man, I’m truly giving this game a five stars for bosses, structures, potions, magic and the adventures.
Barely Working on iPhone 15
iOS 18.3, iPhone 15. Whenever switching to another app and heading back to the game, the audio will no longer play. This on its own doesn’t bother me in the slightest, however there is another issue present that makes this issue game-breaking. Whenever you make it to a point in the game where you obtain a major story item and the jingle plays (eg. acquiring the boat), if the jingle doesn’t play, the game waits until it plays. Of course, this means that if the sound is not working, the jingle never plays, and you are entirely soft-locked, forcing you to force quit the game. Other than this, it’s a great remaster, but as it stands this version is simply unplayable.
Great, except for controller inconsistencies and equipment issues
I’m really enjoying it so far, but when using a controller, you can’t hold down the map button to see unexplored locations. Why is that feature only available on the touch screen? I can deal with the general lack of direction that old games fail to provide, but I should be able to use the map when I use a controller. It’s a pretty small but therefore stupid oversight. Also, when selecting optimize on the monk, it will equip things that make him weaker. Not optimal.

So frustrating
As far as nes games go this makes master blaster , Zelda 2 and battletoads look easy. There is nothing more moronic than having to do a battle every 2 seconds. I wish they could have fixed some of the things that made this game unfun. The auto battle was nice but seriously, no one is gonna play this game without looking at a walkthru.
Great and not frustrating
Pleasant experience. Can turn off random battles, quick save, and choose an option to inc exp and Gil to up to x4. This makes all the old school annoyance of the game gone. It was still a little bit of a challenge and not boring. This is great and I finally was able to beat this after 40 years or so (where has all the time gone).
Too many game breaking bugs to play
Unfortunately using a tent or getting the ship freezes the app and breaks the game.

I’ve had a lot of fun on this game the last couple hours now it just keeps freezing everytime I get a key item the way around it is to unequip everything but I shouldn’t have to
Reminds me of when I was young
Played the game as a kid. Didn't beat it until this past week. Got all of the trophies, except the trophy you get for getting all of the trophies... I think that's a glitch that I hope corrects itself over time. Otherwise I'll eternally have 23/24 trophies on this game and look at that very frustrated.
Another bad port of a bad port
Square can’t help themselves, because they know people will line up for their shop even when it’s almost unplayable. 15fps during battles. Not because of performance issues, just because Square once again outsourced the port of the port.
Fun but glitch
Very fun but the screen is stuck on you obtained the crown with no way to proceed. Also not clear how to contact support.
Can’t play
Good game but you can’t get far without it freezing on you when you use some items. Then if you didn’t save recently you lose progress. If updated it would be better.
Game is great, Fix the freezing
If it wasn’t for the auto save feature this problem would have been even more annoying. Every key item earned causes the game to freeze and you need to reset to the last save. Although I beat the game, this was extremely annoying and needs a fix. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars as it was true to the original game
Beautiful
I played the whole game in a couple weeks whenever I had some free time. It was a blast. Game was bug-free for me.

Good but there’s a bug
There’s a bug hen you switch apps, the sounds cuts off. You can still play but when you acquire a key item or use a tent, the game freezes, forcing you to close the app and restart. If you didn’t save, especially in dungeon, you lose all the data. Also, I know it’s pixel remaster, but I wish they used the PSP remastered version

It’s a true to the original remake. Fantastic first of all! Major issue though, everything I use a sleeping bag or tent the screen blacks out and the game doesn’t progress beyond that fade to black screen
Amazing game!
I had never played the OG game before but this version I believe is the best one to play for 1st timers with all its additions. Said that I hope you guys bring the whole collection to Apple Arcade cause if the 1st one is good I can’t imagine the rest! Lastly, it would be very but I mean very time saving and very helpful if you guys added auto sync to the cloud so that it doesn’t have to be done manually every time I want to move from my iPhone to my iPad and continue where I left off. All other Apple Arcade games do it so I hope there’s a way this game and the other final fantasy games become capable of automatically syncing to the cloud every time one saves progress please!! And thanks
Garbage
Randomly freezes without a way to save progress. If you do a long dungeon and it freezes at the end it’s extremely infuriating.
Great but bugged
Seems like everyother question item pick up freezes the game which forces you to restart at last save point which could be pretty far back if you forget to save often. But fun otherwise.
Frustrating Bugs
Love the game…hate having to remember to save literally EVERY minute in case the game freezes and starts over at my last saved spot…another hour WASTED. My guess is the developer is trying to not only mimic an old game, but the performance of an old NES system too! PLEASE FIX

So much fun
This is the first time I’ve played through a game like this on my phone and I’m hooked. If you are interested in JRPGs or retro games play this! Normally I hate touch controls, but these only took a few minutes to get used to.

古いゲームなので複雑なシステムも無く、レベルを上げて物理で殴れば解決する難易度。ブースト機能もあるのでレベル上げと金銭には困らない。レアモンスターの図鑑登録も含めて9時間程度でクリア可能。 移動のしにくさがネックで、プレイ中ついて回る問題なので⭐︎-1。 ※パッド対応はしているが、外出中に持ち歩くのも… また、実績が23/24で止まったが、15パズルをやり直したら24/24になり全解除された。 同じ症状が発生した場合はご参考に。

Nice updates but keeps freezing
Enjoying it, played it many years ago and I like the updates. However, it has been freezing quite a bit, especially after major plot beats. Save often! 4 or 5 stars if they can fix the bugs.
