Fantastic game, strange quirk.
So, this is like, a fantastic final fantasy. The remake job here is super faithful while giving it a sort of n64 era charm that is super convincing to something I would have seen on that system. Character animation is great and the voice acting is superb. Overall love the vibe. What I don’t love so much is the strange quirk of the battle system. It plays great gameplay wise, but the battles quite literally run at 15 fps. It totally throws off the gameplay!!! Everything else runs at a silky smooth 60 FPS, so i honestly don’t understand it.
Good game but you need to change a few things
There is way too many battles I get one about every 15 seconds it is super annoying! Please fix I just want to enjoy the game but I can not when I have to fight a monster every 5 seconds

充分面白い
操作性が悪いとか文句ばかりありますが充分面白く遊べます。イベントでは音声も入りとても面白い。 ゲームコントローラーにも対応しているのでHDMI使えばTVでも遊べます。 Apple arcadeが月額900円(普通に買うと2400円)なので破格に遊べるのも魅力です。
Combat so slow
Game is ok. But the combats are so slow. Like if if was running at 10fps and I have an iPhone 16 pro. So not the device issue
Good Remake, but Hampered by Lack of Controller Support
Games should have controller support in 2025. It’s holding back an otherwise good port of a classic game that is among the best in the series.

Interesting Story
It’s a little brutal early on, but the plot is excellent with plenty of twists that took me genuinely by surprise. It’s got some good voice actors (appreciated Sam Riegal playing another bard!) and the combat is easy enough once you get the hang of it. It doesn’t hold your hand through everything like modern games do, which forces you to ask around and interact with the game. Main complaint is that the controls are a little clunky if you’ve got fat fingers like myself and the combat is a little slow. Aside from that, a fun game with a good plot, and it’s fun to play the final fantasy that kickstarted a lot of the modern games main features like the ATB. Also, Kain is excellent

It used to be a great game
It could be a great game for iPhone, but this is just a lazy port that doesn’t try to improve the game for the modern standards. If you used to play the original FF IV, the nostalgic feeling about it would push you through this, otherwise no need to touch it. The fight system is too outdated: auto fight is too dumb and doesn’t do anything except simple attack. Without with fight you will have to crank the speed to the lowest, but fights would take too long. Very lazy port, don’t waste your time or money on it.

Great graphics but it is bugged
Came to the tower and had the rabbit character that says you can chafe your name. When I put in a name it will not let me go any further and stays on the name screen. It will not go any further. When I restarted and tried to just walk past him it immediately goes into dialogue and back to the name change screen but will not accept anything I put in. Love the FF franchise but a little put off about this part of the game.
ピクリマ版ほどの親切さはないが変わらず面白い
視野が狭く、3Dゆえにわかりづらいところもありますが、フルボイスではないものの声優陣のおかげでストーリーにより深みが出ました。 タッチ操作ではプレイしづらいですが、コントローラーが使えるので、お持ちの方はコントローラー操作にしたほうがいいでしょう。
Troppo lento, peccato
Diciamocelo, avere FF4 remake su Apple Arcade è davvero una perla per gli amanti dei bei jrpg che al giorno d’oggi sono sempre più rari. Purtroppo avere un titolo così su mobile senza un x2 o addirittura un x3 di velocità nei combattimenti è un grosso limite che a mio avviso compromette la giocabilità. Spero in una patch futura
Huge FPS issues in combat
This could be great, but I’m experiencing huge FPS drops in combat. I think you patched it on PC. Hopefully it gets patched here too.
Good game
I payed this as FFII on SNES and FFIV on GBA. Didn’t know there was a DS version, but I according to the other reviews, this was it. My least favorite part of turn based RPGs has always been the repetitiveness of the battles. The auto fight makes this a lot more bearable. Game play is pretty intuitive. Would be nice to have a little bit better direction sometimes, but older games don’t lead you around like newer games. I did like the rewards for map completion, although there was one that I couldn’t seem to get no matter how much I tried. Don’t remember which area. I think it was maybe floor 4 of the final dungeon? Anyway, good game. Glad to have a chance to play it again.

Still the same, but that’s not a bad thing (+how to fix the audio)
There is one glaring issue that I caught immediately that I’m not sure if the paid version has - if your ringer is off (phone is in silent mode), the game won’t play any audio whatsoever. Turning that off resolved the issue right away. Apart from that, Final Fantasy IV 3D Remake+ (wow, what a mouthful) is going to be more or less the same experience as the separate standalone paid version. This isn’t a bad thing, in my eyes; FFIV is still a great game all these years later, and while this remake (originally made for the Nintendo DS) is more of a sidegrade to the original 2D versions when it comes to gameplay, it’s still something that I’d wholeheartedly recommend. Just know that not much appears to have been changed in this version - Square still hasn’t adjusted battles to run above the original DS version’s hardcoded 15 FPS, for instance - FFIV DS’s game speed is tied to its frame rate, so this wouldn’t be trivial to fix, but it would’ve been nice if Square had put in the extra effort. FFIV DS is considerably more challenging than the other versions of the game - especially on Hard Mode, which lines up with the DS version’s original difficulty - but you thankfully rarely need to go out of your way to grind. It’s FFIV DS, warts and all. If you already have Apple Arcade, there’s no shame in giving this a try.
Clean gameplay, choppy combat
While I was hoping for the Pixel Remaster version to be available instead of the 3D remake ported from the DS, I was fine to accept the game as it was especially because it offered voice acting and more liveliness to cutscenes. However, the combat is just unplayable. It’s 15 fps at the most when the rest of the game holds up a very reasonable framerate. It’s even worse because the game does uncap from 15 fps when watching in battle cutscenes (like with summons or in certain plot battles) which just makes it worse.
Great game, subpar port
I personally think the 3D version of FF4 is the best version. This port, however, appears to not be optimized for retina displays. It runs at a low resolution and has a lot of aliasing/shimmering. It is for that reason I’ve chosen to start a play through on PC via Steam instead. The font rendering is also kind of bad.
Truly a classic
I love this game. I’ve played it on multiple platforms. It’s one of the best ever.
No music on Apple Vision Pro
This App has issues on Vision Pro, one of my favorite games, and one I’d really love to have there. The intro/demo movie plays with audio, but after loading to the main menu there’s no game music at all, sound effects work but none of the excellent soundtrack for this game plays. Performance/visual rendering seems decent but I would go crazy trying to play it in near silence.
Good minus 2 big bugs
There is a point where the game froze, and one where the sound flat out stops. I hold square to a higher standard than this, but I’m still having a blast. It’s just blasted annoying to lose progress because of a freeze. Please fix these asap.

Decent but not great
So, I've only played the original of this one a little bit, and the game works, it's a fun game overall,, but the battle speed is painfully slow due to the 15 fps hard limit from DS version. This being a problem is big sign of laziness by square; they didn't even bother to try changing it. The rest of the game ( outside battles) is better fps but the battles feel so laggy, and the speed itself is also slow. Other main problem: the game is in dire need of even a rudimentary quest journal, because if you miss a cut scene or even if you don't but you don't fully follow every single line of dialogue ( they go on for a while sometimes) it means you end up not knowing where to go or what to do. At all. And no way to replay the cutscenes ( *SPOILER* — best example of the above issue is right after saving Cecil's "girlfriend" from sun fever with the antlion pearl. It very vaguely mentions ONE time in a cutscene to go to a new nation that has a "wall of ice" I scoured the map nonstop for over 1 hour using the hovercraft; no luck. Had to go online to find out where to go, that's really not reasonable imo.
Very fun rpg.
I’m old enough to have played original, however I never did. I love the port so far, roughly 1/3 of the way through. Can’t wait to play rest of game and others in this series(3-d remakes).

Eines meiner lieblings-FFs
Als Final Fantasy Fan der ersten Stunde war es für mich klar, dass ich diesen Teil spielen werde. Die Grafik ist jetzt nicht so schön, wenn man weiß, was auf den mobilen Geräten heute möglich ist. Die Entwickler haben einfach die Nintendo DS Version hierhin portiert. Man kann jeden einzelnen Pixel zählen ;) Für mich persönlich wären ein paar Erleichterungen schön gewesen. Sowas wie Encounter Rate reduzieren oder sogar ganz ausschalten. Oder Zustandsveränderungen nach Kampf zurücksetzen und HP/MP auffüllen bei Level Up der Charaktere. Die Geschwindigkeit erhöhen (das Spiel ist seeeeeeehr langsam, besonders in Kämpfen. Obwohl „schnell“ in den Optionen ausgewählt). Für jemanden, der, wie ich, das Spiel schon gefühlt 100 Millionen mal durchgespielt hat, wäre das mal eine willkommene Abwechslung. Das ist bisschen Mimimi auf höherem Niveau ;-) Ich finde das Spiel super!

Port is great except for the battle scenes. The frame rates are garbage, I’m guessing sub 10fps? Please address soon because it’s an ugly blemish on an otherwise great game.
Sound?
This was my FAVORITE game growing up and I’m so excited to play it. But one issue…why is that no sound? I gave the sounds turned on and my volume up on my phone. Is there an issue with the sound? I would love to hear what I’m doing and as doo as I can this will be an immediate 5star review!!!!
Brutal and Unrewarding
I love an old school reboot… when it works. This is just thankless. Got as far as dropping down the waterfall in a weakened state just to be perpetually owned by the Octomammoth. Meh. I’m out. Sort out the load/save shambles and maybe I’ll come back to it. Shame, really. I remember enjoying this back in the day.

Buggy
Music turns it self off and cannot be turned back on. It only has partial controller support. The D pad works for the face buttons don’t
Low Quality Port
As is usual Square releases a low quality product of on Ios. The controller support is busted can't use the left stick on a backbone controller. Battles are incredibly slow and desperately need a fast forward system. Frame rates are generally poor and game is unresponsive.

Controller support is lacking
I use a Backbone One and while the buttons work fine, it is annoying that navigation is only using the DPad and does not make use of the left thumb stick at all. Otherwise it’s a great game, and plays like how I remembered on the Nintendo DS
Controller support needs work…the analog sticks do nothing.
The game is fun so far. Graphics are dated but sharp. Cutscenes are actually fantastic. Just fix the controller support…I can only use the d-pad to move.
