Useful!
The app works well for me. You need to make a purchase to get advantage card points so I drop off my empties when I need to buy new hayfever tablets/shampoo etc. The reward codes come through really quickly so I can make it an efficient trip. You can use beauty and blister pack codes on the same purchase!
Takes forever to take a photo
Takes far too long to take a photo per item alone and even for duplicate items. If you are uploading the same product, I don’t get why you would need to take another photo, they look exactly the same. It is just so annoying waiting for the camera to a damn photo, prolonging the process between 10+ mins per item!
Stressful but worth it
I appreciate boots for this app. I’m sure others feel stressed while using this app. The key is just to not activate the voucher until cashier has scanned in the items 😅
Hard to benefit from the rewards
Boots make it so hard to actually benefit from recycling products- first of all there are quite a few beauty products that are hard to dispose of that aren’t accepted on this scheme eg any aerosol cans or perfumes. I had three products I had used up so I put them through the app and had them approved and then dropped them off at boots thinking they would count towards points when I dropped another two products off at a later date but turns out all 5 have to be dropped off at the same time so I got no points. Then I saved up another 5 empties and brought them to Boots and only after I got home I saw that I only had a couple of hours TODAY to spend the points before they expire so now I’ve recycled 8 products and received no points… it’s great that this scheme exists but boy do Boots make it difficult for customers to actually benefit from going to all the effort to have them approved and then dropped off instore…. Why do you only get a few hours to get the 500 points? Why do they expire so fast?!
It was good
The latest update now prevents users from scanning a second voucher until 5 mins have passed, meaning you have to wait at the checkout for 5 mins!
A fantastic app
This app is a great way to build up points. You scan in your hard to recycle items at home (wet wipe packets, make up, toothpaste tubes etc) and once accepted, deposit them at a participating Boots store. You need to deposit at least 5 eligible items and spend at least £10 to then get 500 (£5) worth of points. Be sure to activate your voucher with at the till as it’s only valid for 5 minutes.
Doesn’t work
The points are not added. I followed all steps and did not get the reward. Don’t waste your time
Laborious process
Who on earth dreamed this up?! Scanning the blister packs and identifying them is bad enough, but the process you have to go through in the shop, before depositing the packs, is too slow, especially if you have saved up a large quantity. A 'select all' button would save having to tick every item individually. Then you have to wait for an email before buying something and claiming your loyalty points.
Bottle size
It is quite infuriating that you can’t always upload the right bottle size!! The amount of times I have tried to upload a full size bottle but have only been able to select travel size, sample or mini. This has always led to my bottles being rejected.
Is this a reward system of a punishment system for recycling
I spent decades just registering and linking the apps and cards and websites and BSs, only to find out that I needed to submit a freaking “request” first, waiting for up to a whole working day for their APPROVAL. Let’s face it no one wants your freaking points, we just wanna do something good for the environment sometimes, and we have to beg you for that? F boots
Awful UX, deposited 9 items and not been able to claim vouchers
The UX of this app is poor, so far I have done two deposits (totally 9 items) and this is the experience I have had so far: 1. First deposit of 4 items was not enough for a voucher, but this was not clear to me before I submit so I deposited and got nothing to show for it. When I contacted support email, they essentially said tough luck, you should have read the fine print. I think the app should make it super clear before you even deposit that this is the case. 2. Second deposit of 5 items done on 23rd June, and I realise once I get home that I HAVE to use the £5 voucher immediately on the same day. Why is this not explicitly mentioned ANYWHERE BEFORE DEPOSITING?! I hope there are no more sneaky caveats as right now I have recycled 9 items and got nothing from it. Boots, please just invest in even a step by step guide on the homepage highlighting these caveats. It isn’t good enough.
Great but needs work
This app is a great way to build up points and recycle the empties I have but one major downfall is the minimum deposit is not clearly stated. There should be a pop up warning to let you know that you don’t have the required amount. Especially if you’re in a rush and accidentally didn’t tick an item or two and it’s not obvious until afterwards when it’s too late
Complicated
Really annoying. I deposited ten items (max is 5 so the other 5 got rejected) and I didn’t realise they send you a voucher to scan to get the 500 points (when you spend £10 in store on the same day). So I spent £20 in store not realising I need to scan some voucher. Waste of time.
Camera function not great
This app could be simplified. Too many options but the camera function is the worst. It’s for a massive delay. Or you have to keep pressing the button several times. What could be a quick easy process can take a lot longer because of this.
Another terribly designed unusable app by boots
Can’t even register because it keeps saying my advantage card is invalid when it’s correct. Always have an issue with Boots’ apps. Never easy or designed with brain cells. Ridiculous.
Works but let down by store signage
It would be great if the store signage reflected the detailed process explained on the app. Unless in the small print, the physical recycling point does not mention the 5 item requirement to get the reward. No where does waiting up to 24 hours for item approval feature on the signage. As a user who’s brought an empty to store having seen the signage, only to realise the process takes more time and comes with more criteria than initially explained, the process becomes more frustrating as it does not meet the initial expectation of signed ease.
Unable to create an account
Have been trying for weeks but the app simply won’t let me create an account. So frustrating. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app, made sure it’s the latest version etc etc etc. no way of contacting a help team for support either

Just gone to use this and when I go on the camera it just gives me a black screen even though camera is enabled
UI Update needed
First time using and only after uploading all my blister packs to beauty did I discover that there was a separate section. Would benefit from two separate tabs up top for beauty and blister. Starting again and may adjust review depending on the rest of the process.
Not user friendly for blister packs
This app is supposed to include recycling empty medication strips, aka blister packs, but it’s really difficult to do. Not impressed and disappointing experience. Needs huge improvement!

A good candidate for clunkiest most user unfriendly App . Slow and QR codes at recycling points show as not traced .

Why does an app that’s linked to a Boots Advantage card NEED my address, phone number and location? Not happening. Deleted.
