It sucks
This is a poor imitation of the NYT Letterboxed. Common words that are in every official dictionary are NOT recognized as valid words. Furthermore, the app’s solution often uses proper nouns, which are not allowed in similar word games. The most recent example I can make is the word CONTRARIAN. Apparently it is not a word. I am updating my previous review to confirm that this app needs some help. I just found two more words that are not recognized as valid even though they are commonly used in proper English: Globalist and Globalities 🙄🤦🏼♂️
Solvable two words
It’s kind of annoying that you can solve it in two words, but it doesn’t give you any kind of congratulations unless the two words that you solve it in are the two words that it thinks it can be solved in. Not sure if this makes sense.
Needs more words in word bank
I try to use basic words like morph or morphic and it doesn’t count them.
Doesn’t recognise words
This game can be fun but also annoying when it doesn’t recognise some words eg: plonk. Also it accepts Proper nouns eg: Barcelona & vishnu. It also had g as a ‘word’! Ending on a positive note I got one game in ONE word! It was acknowledgment. So proud. 😉
Addicted. Again.
I loved the NYT version of this game. But not enough to subscribe when they pay-walled it. Now that I’ve discovered the app, I’m happy as a clam (or do I mean tight wade?).
What a disappointment
The ad covers the part of the game where you submit a word so you are STUCK! What a pain!
I’m really liking this
A version of this game used to be free on the NYT games app, but no more without a pricey subscription. It was my favorite game challenge, so I am trying this and will re-evaluate after I see how often the ads pop up, and who they are allowing to advertise.
Missing words
It has a Word bank and many well-known words are missing.
Dictionary Limited
I enjoy using this app. Unfortunately the dictionary in the free version is extremely limited. :(

This is a great game to scratch the letterbox itch. Just missing some type of scoring, points, or achievements to make you want to keep playing it.
Bridger
This game is so hard. I do not like to do it. I do not recommend it if you do it. I definitely do not like it. Do not get this app. Do not do it on New York Times.
Questionable word bank
Neither “arthroscopic” nor “orthoscopic” is a recognized word? This is the type of clunkiness that causes me to lose interest. However, the game is functionally similar to the online version (you know the one), which was a nice surprise.
Great challenge!
After The NY Times started trying to charge for playing some of their games, I found this alternative! Exactly the same but you can play repeatedly instead of just once! Love it!
Very limited dictionary
It didn’t recognize many of my words. After it didn’t know “cyber”, I deleted it.

I enjoy letter box every morning g but I wish it would be more challenging e.g. one day complete the puzzle in 4 tries Or 5 tries rather than always 6 tries
Disappointed
Love this game but it doesn’t recognize all legit words and the ads are inappropriate. I’ve seen multiple ads of females masturbating . Yikes
Limited word bank
It is frustrating that so many words are not allowed in the game. For example, common words such as sociopath, broasted, bipolar, & toasty are not recognized so you can’t use them.

Terrible and glitches
After playing and solving the puzzle, game would not let me exit. Appears to force you to try to solve in 2 words! I went into settings to and clicked on “ report and issue” and nothing happened…won’t let you report a problem. I guess that is one way developers don’t have to respond😂

Ad placement is meant for clicks
The developer placed the ADs right under the enter button and I constantly click them by accident and without a doubt that was by design.
Great game ruined by the ads
Great game totally ruined by all the adverts. Who could possibly gain by placing ads on games? I would never download a game advertised that way, nor would I buy a product from any company using such annoying advertising
“Grift” is not in the word bank!
Seriously? The game has told me several times that a word does not exist — that absolutely does. Did they create their own word list? Not very challenging.

Occasional ads are fine, but a video ad after every single game is super irritating.

Frustrating Game
I don’t recommend this game for those with a decent vocabulary who are accustomed to similar games found elsewhere. Many very common words I entered are not found as legitimate words, yet the words suggested as a two-word solution are often words that are so uncommon that even the brightest won’t recognize them. In addition, it’s not rewarding to start out with a prompt telling the player to solve the puzzle in six words and even if you solve it using three or four words, it takes you to a page saying you could have solved it using two words. That’s just idiotic. The developer took a good, fun game and changed it just enough to ruin the experience.

Missing a lot of words
It’s ok. It’s missing a lot of words from its dictionary. I probably won’t keep it, I’ll just stick to the one a day I get from NYT.
Random punctuation makes puzzles unsolvable?
Really enjoying this game until I got a puzzle with a random “/“ instead of a letter. It doesn’t seem to accept this character in any of my guesses, I can’t find an explanation/solution anywhere online, and there is no way to request help or additional info through the app or the developer’s website. Leaving this review in the hopes that someone might be able to help me! Game has been great otherwise.
Interesting game
I enjoy the game and find it challenging. The only thing I don’t care for is the pink background. I’d like to see a dark screen option

It won’t let me drag from letter to letter so I can’t even play the game anyway.
Loved it til the Apostrophe was added
This apostrophe doesn’t seem to indicate possessive or contractions. What am I missing?
Dictionary Fail
Chieftain isn’t a word?? So many words are not in the game’s dictionary, meaning there are fewer ways to minimize the number of turns to finish. I’ve looked up at least ten words in the short time I’ve been playing and all were valid, but Letterbox rejected them.

This is just like the NYT game that is my favorite ever. With the exception of the unnecessarily judgey reminder (at the end of EACH game) that all puzzles can be solved in two words 🙄😆, I am 100% delighted by this game. Thank you!!
Scam? I was charged $12.95 Instead Of $4.99 To Remove Ads
Really liked the game, decided to support the developer by paying the reasonable sum of $4.99 to remove the ads (that was the price listed in the game)… and I was charged $12.97. Not ok.
Fun but Needs Some Work
I loved the NYT version, but found it frustrating so I wanted to find an app I could play an unlimited amount of times for the practice. This one is perfect and I love how relaxing yet challenging it is. The only recommendation I have, is I just wish there was a way to see the solution to each puzzle. Each puzzle is supposed to be solvable in 2 words, so when if I finish a level in more than two words, I would like to see the solution… I just want the satisfaction of at least knowing what I got wrong/missed!
Move on to next game
Would prefer to be able to have hints or at least be able to move on to the next game if I cannot solve the current game.
Just Like Letter Boxed by NYT
This game is exactly like the New York Times Letter Boxed app. When you click on result, it will even tell you that all puzzles are solvable with two words. I read an article that near times letter boxed app is solvable in two words as well.
Not for me
Was excited to practice LetterBox and become a 2- / 3-word solver. Unfortunately, games aren’t set that way. There are also no answers to compare how one did. This one isn’t for me.
Use of keyboard
Would be better if you could use the keyboard to enter letters as well as toucing the screen.
