A couple of things
I don’t like when the word box shrinks when you leave the game, and I don’t like the yellow coloring on the suggested beginning letters. They are very difficult to see.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this app. Unfortunately, recent color change on hints makes this impossible for me to read.
Not living new format
I used to really enjoy these word puzzles but really dislike the new format. Need to take a look at others out there.
Hints change explained?
Developer - I’m a longtime user of this game but you’re losing us with the hints change. PLEASE at least add back the rolling prompt of “a 6 letter word starting with XX..”. You can keep all the other hint changes if easier but we need word length back. Or even an option to toggle to the old hint view if that isn’t possible. Lastly, can you change the sort of the word list back to vertical?

Agreed with others - the newest update makes playing SO much less enjoyable. Not sure why a basically completely new interface was necessary… plus I have seem to run out of new words. Sad.
Can't see the hints very well
Love this app! My only issue is that the hints are very hard to see.
Hints font is too small
Since the change in the hints section the font is way too small and made worse with the contrast in colour which makes things hard to read. It’s a real downgrade from the previous version and I play it a lot less now and will look for alternatives
Get a better list.
I love doing this, but I get very frustrated that I cannot use so many legitimate words. You need to get AI to make a better list. Or use the Anagram Solver app. Saffron is a word! So is retool. So many many others that I can’t remember but are not recognized as words.

Update: I'm so disappointed to see that the terrible update wasn't reverted. Like in my original review, I said DON'T fix what ISN'T BROKEN! It's confusing and unnecessarily complicated to read the new hints, and I don't recall the word bank alternating between columns. I thought it used to be read vertically? Not ideal to have your eyes rapidly flickering side to side when quickly scanning the list. Inefficient. This sucks. I miss when devs listened to players. I haven't played in months. — I rarely download new apps because of how visually cluttered they are with pop ups, bright colors, boosts, power-ups, overstimulating ads, etc. The attention grabbing is exhausting, and I wind up going on social media in my downtime instead of opening any games. I LOVE Spelling Queen because it isn't a violation to your senses. There aren't a million different options to choose from, no vibrant/energetic colors, there's not even a "home" screen—you're just right into the game. It's simple, straightforward, and that's exactly how I like it. The CO-OP doesn't work very well, but me and my partner play by screensharing on Facetime and letting each other control the screen. We're long distance, and play together almost every night before bed, so this game holds a special little place in our relationship. 🩷 For future game updates: please devs, don't fix anything that isn't broken! You have an amazing game here, I hope y'all can make any additions as nonintrusive as possible. And respect for offering a one-time purchase to go ad-free instead of a subscription, you guys rock for that. Thank you!! 🥰
Good until recently
The game plays well, lets you recommend words that it does not yet include, and you can choose long or short games. All good until someone in some cubicle redesigned the clues and length of words remaining page. Even that is okay, except for the teeny tiny font chosen and someone designing it in orange font on yellow background. Then folks at sone meeting all gave it the go ahead as though they had never heard of eyeballs much less vision, as though they had no good sense or had not themselves even looked at it.

I love playing Spell Queen, but I don’t like the new UI with the yellow and grey/white hints. It’s too hard to read.
Super spelling game
This is a spectacular spelling game. Much better than the Times Sunday version….which is only available once a day. The format for getting hints is very useful and it is laid out very nicely.
Ruined it
I was completely addicted to this game until the recent update where they destroyed the hints and started in with the transparent overlays. What a mess. Deleting it now.
Addictive!
I love this app. I needed something to fill the day once I had completed the NYT spelling bee and this is the best I’ve ever found. I purchased the license. Great deal if you’re going to play often. The updates always improve the game experience which I very much appreciate. The panagram words have varying levels of difficulty. I love a good challenge! Requests: • PLEASE make the letter icons more sensitive with a quicker response. It’s slow and frustrating. I misspell words because the app isn’t keeping up with me. This is my biggest issue and it would improve game play dramatically. I’m working to improve my solve time and this is a drag. • nice to have - being able to see the found word definitions before completing the set. Otherwise, the app is perfect! Don’t hesitate to get it.
New hints UI 👎
The once great Spelling Queen, felled by a bad update. The new hints section emulates the clunky NYTs design. A big step backwards. The previous version of the game was way better.
Hints are awful
The tiny, pale print for the hints is very difficult to read. But enjoy the game otherwise.
DEVELOPER PLEASE READ THIS
Please add a way for us to start a new game without ending the current one that way we can go back to it if we find a new word without having to end the game prematurely, they can be in a list format or whatever PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Dislike Update
Looks terrible now. What a dumb way to list the words! It’s not natural to read a list across like that when there’s only 2 columns. So dumb! And please get rid of the box so the complete list of words are shown. Gonna try a better app!
Sticky buttons for fun game
I have been a regular player but noticed that with the recent update the letter buttons don't always work as well, leading to lots of spelling mistakes and back tracking. Didn't know how else to reach the developer so hopefully they are seeing this!
Why did you change the hints!?
You made your app worse. It is now less accessible for low vision users. The content in the hints is way too complicated. I hate it so much. Please change it back.
Letter taps don’t register
I have enjoyed this game immensely, but with the latest update I experience frequent cases of tapped letters not registering. This means a lot of backspacing and retyping, which kills the speed and enjoyment of the game for me.
Design change of Spelling Queen
I hate the update to the look of this app. It is now too hard to read and shows the ghost of the game behind the clues. Please fix it so I can continue to play what was my favorite game.
HATE NEW UPDATE
WHY IS THE NEW UPDATE LIKE THIS?? I hate it, the game was great for its simplicity and all of the extra details overcomplicate things and make it all messy. also why is the found word list ordered like that now, it makes it so hard to read and it was so better when it would just go down the columns alphabetically. i hate this new update please return it back to how it used to be this sucks i hate the hints too and all the starts of the words shown it’s the worst. change it back
Great but need some quality of life updates
Love the game but would also love some QoL updates. Always Dark mode needs to happen. In light mode the yellow on yellow contrast under the hints is really hard to read. Please consider some accessibility improvements here
Too many lengthy royal kingdom ads
Good game. Recent intro of long ads during play are annoying
Fun but glitchy
App is fun but glitches a lot. Letters often do not populate, words I have put in do not populate and no idea what the custom word list does. No info on Google and no “help” or way to ask a question. If it happened now and then I’d say user error but it’s a constant frustration.
Love but needs better responsive touch
I love this app but I do wish it had better response to touch. Often when I try to type letters the app doesn’t recognize a letter I touch and I have to delete and go back. Otherwise it is the perfect game.
New update is horrible
It seems that they ruined the hints feature to encourage people to pay for ad free. Jokes on you - I’m simply deleting.
Dark type for hints, please
I like the new hints except that the gold type on yellow is too hard to read. Please change it to black or dark gray for the unfulfilled hints. Thanks!
Odd vocab list
Words not recognized include acerbic, acquarelle or aquarelle, and flaccid. Words recognized include gonna, lulu and nada. Need I say more? Also doesn’t recognize “-our” or “-re” spellings. There’s something annoying about metric units having only US spellings when the US doesn’t even use metric.
New updates??
After the last update things were changed when I click on the light bulb for hints….and not in a good way. Whoever thought of changing the hints format needs to go back to the previous one. Instead of increasing or improving assistance it made it worse. Please PLEASE return to the previous design. This one is not only confusing it’s extremely discouraging. And I’m positive I’m not the only one disliking the update.
Bad update
Awful interface ruined a perfectly good game

The new version is hard to read. The hints in yellow are too small and are placed over a part of the puzzle options of "settings", etc. You have to look at those hints about five inches from your eyes and read over the overlap of letters and symbols. And the yellow color is ridiculous. There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the previous version. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just because someone comes up with a change and wants it to look different, does NOT mean it's better. I only play on my iPad, and this game change is terrible.
I’m obsessed
I really love this game as an alternative to doing the expensive NYT version of the game. My only complaint is that occasionally there’s a glitch where when I go out of a game, I’ve been working on and come back, it suddenly resets me to a brand new game and I don’t get to finish the one I was working on. It’s very random when or if this happens.
Words not recognised
Great to play but infuriating when actual words are not recognised. The latest are shindig and turfing. Please also allow for British English spelling eg colour.
Dislike the newly updated hint format
Like the game but hate the newly updated hint format. It used to give the first letter and number of letters in the hinted word but now only shows how many words start with the letter.
Queen Bee
I love the concept of this game. It is like that in the NYT. However, the dictionary that was used is terribly incomplete. So many words are missing.. it is very frustrating. There are in increasing number of ads. Often if I have to stop and come back later, I chose to resume game but am taken to a new board of letters. Going to delete
Unhappy with Latest Update
I play this game almost every day and thoroughly enjoy it. But this latest update has changed the font and text color on the clues in the hint button and it’s nearly impossible for me to read the text. Making the text strictly black and white would be best, and/or allowing the screen to be enlarged by “stretching” with your fingers.
Reevaluate new changes
The word list changed from left column then to right column, to now it’s each line across. This makes it hard to easily see all forms of a word. Also, the new stats layout is too small. And the yellow coloring is too hard to see.
Too many ads
Loved this game but recent updates have increased the number of ads to the point where I won’t play. Deleting the app and searching for similar alternatives.

…but the new hint interface makes the game unreasonably harder and now a game takes much longer to solve. Please consider making the new hint interface an option rather than the only option
Need to update vocabulary & lengthen the times between ads for same stuff.
How do you add real words that it refuses? Example just now: arcane. Also, why do you show the same ads over and over with very little time between? It’s gotten worse as I’ve tried to play more. Rejecting different tenses of words is a problem quite often as well. I would give it a 5 star rating if not for that. Would also suggest words but when it says add, nothing happens.
The ads make this game unplayable
I have enjoyed playing this game for a year or so, however in the past few weeks the quantity of ads have become ridiculous, can’t play anymore.
