Super
Poor Customer Service and Payment Connection Issues
If you have issues the app directs you to 311 for contact, where they file a ticket with the app providers, and then you must wait up to 10 business days for assistance. I bought bus tickets, payment connection supposedly failed through the app, but the money was withdrawn from my bank account. I’m just lucky they were tickets, not a monthly pass. By the time the issue gets sorted the pass would be useless. In the meantime I’m stuck with no tickets and have no money to buy any more, there was nothing they could or would do to assist in the meantime. Very frustrated, after having the issue resolved I won’t be risking any purchase through the app again.
Perfect when visiting HFX
If you’re visiting Halifax and want to take the bus, this app is perfect! Easy to use and works seamlessly on the bus. Payment via apple pay keeps CC info secure. Would be nice to have bus schedules but I was able to use Apple Maps and Google Maps for that.
Latest update
The latest update has not improved the UX. On opening the app, if the user does not carry a monetary balance, the user is told they have insufficient funds. This is extremely misleading, I have multiple pre-purchased tickets, so any message about funds is irrelevant. Only if the user is in the process of purchasing tickets is that message relevant.
Good and bad
I want to know how many passes I have without counting. Bring that feature back please. Ticket functions work well. I never have problems
Awesome for buying bus tickets without cash
Thanks you for making this app to buy fare for bus without finding exact change
Device Switch Limits
Switch limits are silly, if my device dies and I need to log in through another phone and then switch back to my phone, then I’ve used 2 of the 3 switches. For your safety it says.
New Update Gripes
The new update makes a lot of needed UI changes, and that’s appreciated. As well, this is the first time that the Apple Pay option has actually worked. However, a pop-up warning me about low funds isn’t useful as I do not use the wallet feature, and never will. (Maybe create a setting to enable wallet funds reminders if it is helpful for others) Finally, a feedback button would be great for issues like this.
More of a money grab
What about this app is simpler to use? The UI is much less intuitive and the app tries to get me to put money in every time I open it. HFXGO is now more difficult to use, not simpler.
Very slow and sluggish app
Almost everytime when I am in hurry and want to open this app real quick to not miss the bus, it keeps my anxiety up ss it doesn’t load. Once, it didn’t even open my tickets. Sll otjer apps on my phone are working fine, internet is decent. Please make the app a little bit faster please.
Works well
Not sure why people are complaining.. really. The app works, save you time and it’s convenient. The bus system in Halifax on the other hand is a joke, a bad joke!
Worse than ever, now
No active passes shown without several refreshes. A list of passes is counterintuitive, in any case—one needs a button, front-and-centre, that allows immediate access to an active pass. Inactive passes shouldn’t be seen at all. Just horrendous UI/usability.
Suggestion
An Apple Watch version of the app would be nice, if you have the app on your phone.
Shouldn’t be this hard
Takes your money for tickets but that’s about it. Needs to provide schedules, or at least frequency of operation. Actual route maps too. The written descriptions are not very helpful. Assuming that google maps crawl a schedule from somewhere correctly is not OK. Also the policy of transfers should be explained before you purchase a ticket.
It works, until it doesn't
It works. However, if you need to reset your password, forget it. It never sends you the link to recover it.
Rarely works
This app is so bad. I wish I could give no stars. It rarely works and my money and tickets are trapped in it.
Decent App
The app is pretty decent, does what it's supposed. Only one small issue I've noticed in months of using; it would be great if you could mask the displayed input in the Security Code field on the payment screen. For privacy sake. I imagine I'm not the only one that ends buying passes in public spaces.
Can it BE anymore complicated???
I’m visiting from BC and was happy to see I could pay for the bus by my phone. But wow what a joke. You have to do a MILLION prompts just to the QR code. Why couldn’t they have made this easier?
Saved credit cards
Was working well, until May 6, then it no longer will save my card, no matter how many times I try
Why
Dear god why is it an 8 step process to buy a single ticket
Incorrect information about ticket validity
When you on Single Ride ticket information, it says that the ticket is valid for one ride while in fact the ticket is valid for 150 minutes. Please, change the description accordingly to avoid frustration
Can’t Use :/
Doesn’t accept my Mastercard Debit. What a bummer.
Good, but needs improvements
It’s great to see something like this in the works, but it needs further development, doesn’t feel like it was ready for release yet. The design is is pretty cluttered, and on my iPhone 12 mini the text doesn’t fit on the buttons etc. Only accepting Visa / MC limits the accessibility of the app. Integration with Apple / Google pay options and / or PayPal / Interac would open the app to a wider audience Hopefully updates will see some improvements.
absolutely awful, not even worthy of any stars
card started declining randomly for no reason even though there’s more than enough balance, was working fine but randomly will start declining your cards for random periods of time with no explanation. horrifically inconvenient, absolute garbage app. has made me have to pay more out of pocket for ubers because it refuses to accept my card even though it was working fine before. disappointing waste of phone space.
We needed this
App works well I don’t know why people are complaining over the look of it, it makes life a lot easier I’m thankful for it.
No support after 5pm
Needed support from the developers on transferring account on to another phone. It’s not just log out of the broken phone and long into the new phone nope. Buses run until after 1am I feel they should have available until the busses stop running to take of problems such as this for now I am without a bus pass at 6pm until some time tomorrow when someone gets in contact to try and resolve my issue and I need my pass tonight. I am very displeased and I hope they do a better job than this.
Could be a lot better
App is glitchy, I also wish the QR Code screen would brighten when I try to scan onto busses—it takes me way to long for the code to process when trying to get onto busses.
Nice Start, but Terrible UI and UX Experience
Halifax Transit, you’re finally catching up to other Canadian transit systems - welcome to the 20’th century!! Now lets just improve the 21st century experience. ;-) The UI needs some work and streamlining… especially for other phones. Oh and an iPad Mini app would be nice too, just saying. ;-) The new features and options for buying individual tickets, plus 1 day, 10 day, and monthly passes is awesome!! However, it would be great if we can buy tickets and passes that can be gifted to others. For example, my wife and I will buy tickets for each other and our kids. Also, with the paper tickets still in print and sold, it’s not uncommon for me to buy a 10 sheet of adult bus tickets, and then give one too my wife or to my daughter. I also know of some businesses that will gift bus tickets too their employees as well?
pathedic
password retrieval doesn’t work. this city does a terrible job at supporting those who use transit.
Cluttered
The design is terribly cluttered and ugly.
Fix your loading screen
The app needs to be able to load up instantly. There is no need for the 30 second loading time when you open the app. Also get rid of your ridiculous multi device limits.
Disappointed
I was really excited to finally not have to figure out where to buy my monthly bus pass except when I used this app they only have 7day passes :( and if I buy 4 of those I pay $10 more then just finding a place to purchase my bus pass :( I haven’t even got to really use the app and I’m already disappointed. Do better HRM
Worse app ever
Claims you dont need data wifi to use it but you do. I re-synced at 440 pm boarded my bus , but on trip back at 720pm it said i needed to re-sync again but without data i couldn't and ticket wont work
