Epic! I use it for my Switch for my Mario Maker 2 levels!
Useless
I can’t even change to my usb camera all it’s showing is the back camera and there no way to change so the app is useless

Better than most
I really like this program, it’s easy to use and works with a wide variety of microscopic cameras. I’m using a ipeice camera that I like really well and it does a good job.
Huge let down.
Was super excited to have found this app to record via both external video and audio, but as soon as I click record the app crashes. This app seemed to have everything I needed, except the ability to function properly
Does not work for iPhone
It only works with the usb c iPad. Maybe the new iPhone 15 with its usb c port but I haven’t tried that. My iPhone with lightning plug isn’t compatible
Works with my iPad but no iPhone 16 pro
I use this app when attaching my Canon R8 camera to my iPad and it works flawlessly, however it doesn’t work with my iPhone 16 Pro. I’ve reloaded it and everything, but on my iPhone it doesn’t show an External USB in Source type.
Perfect for recording camera LCD
I have a YouTube channel for beginner photographers called (PracticingPhotograaphy). I need the LCD screen and found CamX with a video capture (usb) device works flawlessly. Perfect for what I use it for.
iPad ok, iPhone nope
Works fine on my iPad…as a monitor for my camera, but not my iPhone iOS 18.3.1 which is a shame as I, and many others with a Nikon Z8 and Z9 want like to mount the iPhone in the camera’s flash foot but the developers say it’s Apple holding up the release for iPhone
Nice
Wish it had locations function. Else that this is a great app.

Do not use this app
I have had so many good takes that were simply not stored after I hit stop. This app is trash. Do not use it.
WAS good, but no longer works
Was working great with a USB borescope. Not sure if it was an iPadOS update or what, but now will not detect the camera connected to the iPad. Response to developer response: I was using this for a USB borescope camera, which plugged directly into the iPad and everything worked great. Now it will not recognize the camera attached (even after disconnecting and reconnecting). Hopefully this can be worked out as it was exactly as I needed. Incidentally, I attempted to download some other apps that supposedly do the same, and none of them function or recognize the camera. Apparently Apple has restricted some USB features…
It doesn’t work on iPhone
I got the iPhone 16 pro with usb-c but no hdmi feed shows up in the app, with my iPad on the other hand everything works fine. I don’t now what the problem is.
Amazing
Not sure why there’s not more ratings/users
USB camera not detected
I have the USB camera plugged into my phone, and the luminous ring light turns on, but there is no option in the app settings to use the USB camera, only the cameras built into my phone. Why is the app subtitle even CALLED “USB camera?”
Great program, good design, wish for a bit more
Overall this app is great, i wish the "videography" mode had a few more basic features My wishlist - Waveform Scope for Y (Luma) -10 to 110 IRE - Color adjustment for RGB Gain (White point) and RGB Pedestal (Black Point) - Focus Peaking Overlay - Center Crosshair overlay
Needs Update
File names are being visually stacked on top of each other after recent iOS update.
Almost perfect
Only missing feature is option to choose photos personal library or shared library for saving.
Crashes
I tried this on both my iPad Pro M4 and my iPhone 15 Pro and both crashed it multiple times as soon as I hit record.

Works as expected
You wouldn’t think it’d be difficult to find an app that allows the iPad to be a monitor AND record video AND actually work, but this app does it! There are a few apps that come close, but they usually lack in something, or don’t work as expected. This app definitely works as expected and looks good too.
Endoscopic not working
I can seem to get the endoscopic to join with my your program
iPhone as a monitor for Sony and Nikon?
With CamX, My iPad is a monitor for camera which is nice. How to make iPhone a monitor also? When shooting videos in a trip, iPhone is easier / smaller to carry with.
Does what it claims
I use this to view through my “pluggable” brand microscope. Works very well at this admittedly simple task. My only reservation is that it’s free, and the old adage says “when the program is free, you are the product”. OTOH, if I can make some Chinese spy agency waste its time trying to identify what insect is attacking a leaf, or whether my 2 cent carmine postage stamp is genuine, I guess I’m doing my part to protect our country.
claims to be uvc but only no
claims to be uvc but only onboard cameras are available, uvc camera is ignored. ipad 9th.
10/ 5 stars
The UI is clean and easy to use works perfectly I would love to be able to record in 4k (ofc I don’t expect that feature to be free but will happily pay) tho but other than that 10s all around!
Does my head in too …
You really can’t close the app, and for me too it could not find the external camera.
Audio recording
Audio recording doesn’t work.
