I get way more traction and engagement here than instagram can ever afford! Love the hard NO AI stance! But it would be nice to hide a post I don’t like so that it no longer keeps showing up on the feed. I would also really really really love to edit thumbnails. I’ve made mistakes of not editing nice thumbnails before and it just makes my portfolio look so ugly ;_; it would be nice to have more leeway to polish our portfolio in that regard. Also I can’t seem to access my bookmarks on the app. At least not in an easily accessible way.

AI detectors feed everyone's work into AI.
I love the idea of an art app/website without AI... but this uses an AI detector. AI detectors are known for messing up. They're literally AI. Your app/website is still feeding these artists' work into AI.

Ai Attack
Recently there was a Reddit thread on r/“defendingai” that they managed to scraped all of Cara data on artists works alike. As an artist myself I barely used Cara but only known about it when Twitter was going down so I decided to post some of my art there to see its momentum go nowhere as it was riding the train of twitter exodus but to see an entire app data gets infiltrated by Ai Crapists makes this whole lot worse. I hope anyone reading this don’t ever visit this app ever again.

Great app!
I’ve been using Cara for a good bit now, and it’s a great alternative compared to other apps like it. I hope Cara sticks with its original purpose and never caves towards AI in the future. Really like the new updates and can’t wait to see what else comes later. :)
Entire site scrapped for AI
The entire draw of this app was to protect artists from having their art from being used to teach AI. Well the entire website got hit and over 12TB of images have been fed into AI. Great job guys. This is why artists don’t trust websites anymore.
Love the app, HATE THE TEXT BOX COLOR CHANGE
It was such a nice muted blue, now it’s this disgustingly bright one that’s not nice on the eyes at all 😭 There should be an option to change it back to the original one. It was so iconic 😔
Very inactive and difficult to use
The UX is pretty unintuitive compared to X and Bluesky. Search tools are limited and it's difficult to find people to follow using non-specific language. Also, even opening DM's to someone who doesn't follow you will lock you out of doing so for the rest of the day, even if you don't send them a message. I started to send someone a message, backed out for a moment to check something on their profile, and found that I was locked out of finishing my message to them because of this daily conversation limit.
Things you could add
Please add features like music over the posts for a more immersive experience! Also I would love to post videos of my art process and see others as well!! Loving the app so far can’t wait to see where it goes <3 please keep it Ai free!!

Honestly, very good app for sharing art. Basically just art social media. There are a few issues but it’s very easy to grow and share your art.
dead app
i tried to like cara for the longest, rlly did, but this app jus ain't for me evb that migrated from insta left w/o a trace. as much as i'd post n engage, i saw lil to no growth. there's no community left, only a ghost town i give up wit cara fr, yall got it

overall a decent app, the only personal grudge i have is the blaring lack of engagement and overall lack of user base the app possesses.
A great start but now feel unwelcome
Cara started off as an ambitious platform that was to free artists from AI scraping, and I think it still holds true to that. However, I’m beginning to believe that not all artists are welcome on this platform, and I’m talking about artists from certain marginalized communities. I see stunning pieces get passed over by artists, and I get a feeling of distaste and neglect from others. This was supposed to be a website where artists can be safe. I think that is no longer the case. It may be a matter of time before I delete my portfolio on there and leave.

A good rating.
This is much better than instagram. I had had so many problems with instagram. They kept on deleting me time and time again as I was trying to improve and have fun. The total accounts they took away from me was 7, whole I was suspended 11 Times. This app is new, and deserves new features that are useful for its incoming future. Doesn’t feel optimal for viewing art
It has pros and cons. The cons stand out to me much more than the pros, in that you can only attach art/images to the bottom of posts whereas text must remain above it (including tags); the layout feels very twitter-like and doesn’t feel optimal for viewing art (in multiple ways such as clicking to view the art in the first place, resharing the art on your acc with replies, etc). Maybe I’m too used to tumblr but ay ay ay it’s flat out stressful, and I don’t find myself going out of my way to get on the app - let alone post. It feels very… business-like; not for viewing art but looking for employees or something. Or… if I get on the app, it feels like a faculty party I was forced to go to. I do like that you can “put a screen” over sensitive content, so to say. However, I wish you could add specifications on /why/ a piece is sensitive (gore, eyestrain, body horror, etc). I guess you could with tags, but tags are difficult to read when they’re all one word and I haven’t checked out the filtering system yet. The tagging system is pretty good speaking of tags, which is another pro. But um… Overall, I don’t really like it and I hardly ever use it despite my attempts on getting myself to enjoy it.

It’s okay. But unless you’re like a super skilled artist your content gets no attention at all. It’s not good for browsing art. It’s hard to build a following as the community seems mostly dead. Also, real artists do not complain about nsfw content. The human body and sexuality are art, get over it.
Breath of fresh air
It’s to refreshing to use an app that doesn’t push algorithm favored content. I can actually see new posts, and posts with low like counts instead of just the posts running numbers like on Instagram. Seems like a solid little community of artists on here. I hope more people can join. So far so good! I’m loving being able to share my art with others and meet new people, rather than become buried in sea of posts and get 0 interactions online.
Want to like it
Like many who have given up on Pinterest for visual reference images, I had high hopes for Cara. So far, all I can find is fan art, anime-style drawings, and digital work. I just want to look at other fine artists’ paintings. I tried searching on the names of several of my favorite painters and not one painting of any of theirs was found. Not really sure what the point of this app is. Glad it’s AI-free. Still needs art by professional artists or it’s useless. Also extremely unimpressed by the social feature. It’s one of the reasons I no longer use Pinterest, so seeing it as part of this app was definitely a deterrent, not a desirable feature. Where’s an artist supposed to find images of art painted by other fine artists anymore???
Promising
A nice little app, I respect the founders’ mission to make this an AI-free oasis. That said, the beta that I’m using is still quite buggy so I’ve deducted a star from what would have been a 5 star review. Nevertheless I look forward to getting a lot of use out of this.

more customization
The app is pretty good, especially for just being beta right now. It’s a lot like twitter, but instead catering to artists (which means no ai). Though, I think that there could be more customization for profiles like banners. Also I think the algorithm could be better, especially since it’s hard to get your art out in general.
I really enjoy this app
I overall enjoy this experience. I am fairly new to the platform. I’ve only posted a minimal number of things on this platform, but I gotta say it’s really good social media and it seems a lot more fair compared to its competitors whereas on Tumblr, I am lucky if I even get three likes where on this my first day posting I got 5 to 6 likes which is really refreshing when your motivation runs off of seeing if people enjoy what you make. I’m sure this app does have quite a bit of bugs. I’ve come across a couple of visual errors, but I’m pretty sure it has to do with more of what I’m using and not really the app I think the app has perfected a lot of different things especially the anti-AI status so far. I haven’t been skeptical of a single piece on this platform, which is sad that I have to be skeptical on any platform of anything being AI. I sure hope that this app does not end like most of its competitors with a bunch of greed and corruption within the next hundred years.

So much potential but extremely slow
The application is extremely slow, it is not perfect but I am all in for an app that promises no GenAI implementation and gives us artists a clean place without the GenAI image clutter
Great app but needs better moderating!
I love Cara, but there can be some creepy predators on it, and reporting and moderators need to be better. I was contacted on the app by a creepy man trying to get in touch with me, asking to be friends. Of course, like any reasonable person would do, I reported it. No action was taken by the moderators. As it turns out, he had been a predator and was grooming young users. I took screen shots of people conversations with him for him to finally be banned. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! People on this app must be protected. We need better moderating tools. PLEASE FIX THIS!!
Good start but the app really needs work
UI is too laggy for such a simple app. There are noticeable stutters, gestures are iffy, pinch zooming in on images is not possible without first clicking the image, and the app doesn’t use the entire screen. Is this because it isn’t a native ios app? It’s not 2010, it’s too late in the game for these kind of ui problems and people’s muscle memory from instagram needs to be better translated over.

While the community is small and engagement is low, it’s a very nice place to be as an artist! My only real criticism is the portfolios, organizing them is tricky sometimes if you don’t use it often. But everything else outweighs that! So proud to be apart of this community

All Beauty No Filler
Really enjoying seeing real creativity again. I DO NOT miss the constant bombardment of mindless content. I have to say that one of the features that sets it apart is its robust tagging system. However, I've noticed that some creators are taking advantage of this feature by flooding categories with content that doesn't fit the description. Proper tagging is essential for creating a high-quality user experience. When categories are flooded with low-quality content, it can be frustrating for users who are looking for accurate and reliable information. I urge creators to take the time to properly tag their content, as it will ultimately benefit both themselves and their audience.
Can’t even access
I made an account back in Jun, and then I spend a couple of months inactive and my account was log out of the app. I didn’t bother to log in at that moment. Now I tried and looks like that account don’t exists anymore. And ehh what about all my files and art & followers I had? Well, looks like it is all gone, so why should I bother in making an account again if I could list all efforts just like that?
We need a new Instagram
Basically a super basic Instagram which desperately needs a light mode, but… if it stays the distance and keeps improving, it could be the new Instagram that we all need.
Great for artists
I haven’t had this app for long but as I've been using it I’ve found, most of the time, the page doesn’t load and it’s very slow. Every time I tried to follow an artists account it would send me off the app or just wouldn’t let me follow them or like their work.
A lot of potential but really slow - lots of ‘network errors’
This could be a brilliant app, it is much needed, but it needs to be refined. Keeps crashing. Can’t properly upload an avatar or bio. Changes aren’t being saved properly.

Signed up but won’t let me sign in
Signed up to the app but it keeps saying that it’s an invalid log in! So annoying when apps don’t work properly.
The future looks bright, if not incredibly slow,
This app combines the best of insta and twitter without any of the awful ai garbage, with how things are shaping up this platform looks to be an upcoming safe haven for artists everywhere. That all being said if it’s going to last longer than a few months it needs to start making improvements, and quick. The app is incredibly slow which is easily going to deter some people, plus with a growing user base, it’s going to need to keep up with the demands and quality of life changes that’ll come with it. I’m rooting for cara, I just hope it can keep it.
