Good but still needs work
Let me explain. If you are an artist and want to sell art this might not be right place for you. But if you are an artist and want to share your art with other artists, this place is perfect! To understand the app, think of facebook but with more art and no ads. The app is very simple and easy to understand. Only complain I have is that the app does have some problems. For example, notifications. Some reason some of them will not show up. And I have to get out of the app, remove the app running on the background then loading the app again just to see new notifications and messages. Another problem I had was, texting someone might not work sometimes. Two times I had this problem where I couldn’t text someone even though we are chatting on comment section. Anyhow, the app is not perfect and I’m not expecting it to be. The dev doesn’t have lots of money to spend on the app. But maybe a little fix here and there might not hurt. I did join and became prisma to help the dev. Not sure what that is yet. But hope this help to understand the app a little.

Its good
I do like the format and the ability to customize the profile a bit. I also like that there isn’t an algorithm, however I do think there needs to be a better way of submitting art to groups. You have to make a new post to post to them rather than submitting an already posted art to the groups. I do not really like submitting multiple posts to every group and not be able to see them on my profile. Also it is so so laggy and often crashes A LOOOTT!! It has discouraged me in using the app because it glitches and then crashes when I am mid posting. Once the app has flourished a bit more, I may be inclined to use it prominently.
Crashes
I really, REALLY want to like and continue using Artfol but it crashes over literally everything. I’ve had the platform for maybe two years and the functional issues with the app itself haven’t been fixed. When I try to edit a post - crash. When I do almost anything related to a collection: adding a post, renaming, public or private - crash. Even liking some posts will crash the app for me recently. As much as the platform is good for small artists or people just wanting to share their art without the negativity of Instagram, it’s gotten too frustrating to use.
Can’t load anything.
I like the app I really do. But every time I try to load it freezes. Or it takes forever just to post. Now I’m trying to log in and it just keeps saying refresh loading page. Every time I do it changes nothing. I can’t even get on my own page. Please fix as soon as possible.
Website is better
I wish the layout in the app was like the website. It kinda feels all over the place. Also please expand the customization with more color options
Too Glitchy
I set up my account and within 10 minutes, it started glitching out on me. It’s also very slow responding when trying to navigate different features and settings. Needs some work. Deleted my profile.

Clean, cute little app and easy to use, with ways of categorizing posts (by contest/submission etc), customizable colors/theme, and sub communities to join.
I really like the app, but…
The app is good in terms of allowing art to be the focus, my issue arises every time I leave a comment, or add tags to my posts. As I type, the text box is nowhere to be seen, but when I stop typing and the keyboard goes away, the text box slides to the top of the screen and covers the rest of the screen with a dark grey panel, and so then I have to close the app completely. I have had this issue ever since the app was released, but I just assumed others were having it, and it would be fixed soon. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong on my part, so I am very sorry if I am. Thank you for reading, and I hope this gets fixed soon! :))
Sad
I love this app, genuinely- I used to use it a lot more, but it NEVER loads images for me even if it is entirely up to date and my device is up to date. It’s frustrating because it makes me decide to stop using it entirely.

Customer Service Sucks
I created an account via desktop but can’t login on my phone nor the app. I’ve checked the email and password countless times and it’s the same. I get notifications to my email anytime someone comments or likes. My initial confirmation is the correct email but when I reached out to customer service I was told my email did not exist. I sent them a screenshot of my verification and notification emails that showed my email and never got a response. It’s been about 2 months and still haven’t gotten a response even after following up with them.
Awesome but..
I really like this app but I wish we could put small vids or gifs that people make, i think that it would make it better for some people.

Better than twitter
Ok so it’s been almost a month since I used artfol and I gotta say, I freaking LOVE the app. Most social media platforms discourages artists from making a shine for recognition since most platforms encourages unoriginal content. And the censorship is awesome too! I’ve been tryna find a platform that wasn’t toxic where I could post more explicit drawings, but they either supported AI art, or just an extremely toxic app. I am thankful I found this app through instagram, I have never been grateful! I wish to continue using this app and see the app progress through growth

amazing but very buggy
i love how this is an art only app, where we can share photos of our creations. so far a few people have seen my art, but mainly my text posts gets more views. however, there’s so many bugs it’s hard to enjoy my experience. a lot of the times the app kicks me out and i have to go in to perform the action i want too. the app is also very slow.
Good app but latest update crashes
Title, had a good time using it but now I get a constant "no internet connection" error and it immediately crashes after. My connection is working just fine, hope these bugs can get ironed out soon.
It’s fine, but not the most functional.
I get it, this isn’t a reflection on the creators of the app. I really get that it’s a lot to handle with no help for no pay. But that’s the hard truth. This app is only okay. It has a lot of cool features but functions at a 90s era microsoft dell level. It’s very slow, the community is circular and isolated (if you’re looking to meet and befriend other, typically young, artists, great. If you’re looking to network might be okay at best. If you want to grow a business, terrible). It’s just not that good. It’s okay. It’s fun if you have the patience to wait for every post to load for five minutes, and you don’t mind a young-ish, artist-centric echo chamber. But I think I’m finding more and more this app just isn’t for me and I can’t imagine it’ll get too much better anytime soon if it’s funding remains as is. It’s cool that it’s free, but if it can’t really function properly every time a new feature is added…idk, I’m losing interest at this point.
Amazing App
I love Artfol and have had an account since beta. Many of the older lower star reviews are from beta so don’t fret, the app does not take forever to load anymore, hasn’t in a long time. Most of the complaints about the app have to do with there being next to no algorithm, this is done to encourage users to actually engage with their audiences. For me this is actually a big deal, I get next to no engagement on instagram even though I have 500 followers while on Artfol I get a ton more engagement with only 100 followers, this means I can more easily see what people like about my art and connect with way more people. Remember more followers doesn’t mean more engagement!
Won’t let you delete your account / Privacy Terms are vague
I have no choice but to leave a one star review in hope the developers see this. I have tried contacting them but this issue persists with no response. I have tried multiple times to delete my account on both desktop / mobile browsers and the app itself. All you get is a perpetually loading circle. Nothing ever happens. When I went to look for their Privacy Policy, it was pretty tough to find! In fact, if you click the App Store link to it, it just takes you to their home page to infinitely scroll the discover feed - no footer. When I did find it, it was also very short, with no details on how they handle data retention or deletion requests - a thing thats pretty standard policy in the internet. Their contact email (also buried) is for a similar domain, but not the same as artfol.app (or their previous, artful.me ). It’s a completely different thing, which makes me suspect if they’re checking it. I understand this is a small team with a heavy load on their shoulders, so Im sorry to have to leave a review like this, but this is unacceptable.
Bug
The logout button doesn’t work, everything else does though. I have to completely uninstall the app to log out. Other than that, good app for artists. Found another bug. I can’t change my featured posts. They’re all outdated and I can’t remove them or swap them. I think it’s an iPad problem. I tried on my siblings iPad, same issues. The web version doesn’t let you search things. I could type “horse” and it would say “no results for “”. “ as if I never typed anything
Needs some work
The interface at times feels a little out of place or lacks necessary options. The discovery tab isn’t very useful - I quickly reach the bottom of the window so I can’t really “discover” for very long. What really confuses me is why I can’t delete my account..? Seriously, there is no option to remove your account from the app unless you intentionally try to get reported or something. That’s such a basic feature that any type of service should have. I get what the app is trying to be, but it feels incomplete (I haven’t even mentioned the bugs I encountered while using it). A year from now there will be a very small group who still use the app and it’ll become some kind of DeviantArt clone. That’s my prediction.
I like it but...
I really like Artfol, a new app/website for artists that doesn't allow ai images or has a generator is really nice. However it is super glitchy like I cant even use it sometimes because of how much it is glitching. I would also like more features for organizing collections, like a way to re order them on my profile and sort the images inside, like a sort by date function.

the perfect portfolio/social media if you're an artist tired of twitter/insta nonsense <3 no ai or nfts allowed, no algorithm, just a nice place to upload your art without the quality crunching up your images or awkward cropping! the app is always being worked on too and the devs are super helpful and respond very quickly to bug reports/user reports. the community may be smaller than established social media platforms like twitter, but artfol has a cozy active community that will give you feedback and engagement on your artwork! lovely little app, a must-have for artists <3
I want to use your app
I never write reviews but this has frustrated me to the point of making a review. I cannot sign into the app at all. I’ve tried so many times, I’ve reinstalled the app so many times but every time I try to signup I’ll put in the info and a white blank screen pops up at random times, you press the back arrow and it sends you back to the sign up screen and you gotta do it over again. I’ve done this so many times in many ways thinking I can get past it but I can’t. Some other people has gotten this and I wonder if they were ever able to get past it and use the app.

i wish there was an option to be able to scroll through all the works on a page and also like them without having to open a second tab, like how instagram and tumblr and most other social medias do i know the following page does, but i wish the explore did too
Bugs and troubles
Im having trouble posting, the same feed shows up and i cant change my profile picture. Which, in the end, doesn’t allow me to enjoy the app or post anything. im curious how other accounts are able to do anythinh freely while i am not.
Good, could be great
This app is a great way to view/post only art and I enjoy the tagging system they’ve got going on. However, the app is quite buggy and sometimes it’ll take minutes for the app to even load before it fully opens. I also wish there was a setting to see how much engagement you’re getting on a post, and lastly it would also be great to have an option for landscape artwork, or a way to crop the picture you’re posting.
I adore this app!
I have been a long time Artfol user, since late 2020. The app has continuously improved since then. If you had the app back when it boomed and deleted it due to lag, you absolutely should try it again! The developers are actively listening to what the community suggests and recommends. Because the community on the app is small, it’s easier for them to do so. Once bugs are reported, they tend to be weeded out fairly quickly. Within the app itself, there is a huge array of features. Artfol has no algorithm, so you must rely solely on your connections and interactions with others. This means that you do need to put in the effort to communicate and interact with others if you wish for interaction yourself. It’s super easy to manage your own account for whatever you need, with both profile edits, gallery formats (two to choose from), featured, and introduction stuff. There are still bits and pieces that behave a bit clunky in-app, but if you keep in mind that all the potential, it easily becomes ignorable. I absolutely recommend this app to anyone who wishes to view others art and/or share their own!
Not the best.
After spending some time on this app, I felt like it wasn’t worth it. Everything is posted chronologically, which makes it hard to see everyone’s art unless you spend an hour or two scrolling. This platform leans more toward “anime”, so if you don’t do anything along those lines, people don’t much care for it. It also feels like there are a lot of younger kids on it, and while that isn’t a bad thing, the text posting page should be avoided. This app crashes a lot, sometimes making it difficult to either post art or leave a comment on someone else’s post. It is decent enough, but I wouldn’t recommend it being your go to place to share art.

It would be so useful if you could put multiple pages for the commission pages, not to mention multiple pages for posts.

I tried to make an account but it kind of bugged. I put in my email and the code but it said “code doesn’t exist” even though I wrote it correctly. Then I went back to try again but it said the username and or email was taken (which it wasnt), but when I use the username to login it says “user doesn’t exist.” And I can’t really change my username since all of my art has a certain signature. Hope you fix this cause I really think this app has a lot of potential! Oh and it also seems like a lot of people are having this issue, please try your best to look into it (which you’re probably already doing, hopefully)
I think it’s an okay app
I really like the app, my only issue is that it’s even harder getting noticed on this app than it is on other platforms. I remember joining in during the start of the beta version of the app and getting lots of notifications, but now I’m barely getting any. I can handle the slow loading time, I also don’t mind the wait between posting. My current issue right now though, I recently posted an artwork but as soon as that was posted the entire feed went blank. I can’t even make a post and my profile is blank and the text “User not found” pops up. My notifications are gone, I can’t check my followers or the people I’m following. The only thing that I can still view is the discover feed. I tried installing it on my phone to use from there but it’s not working either.
The only art social media i feel like i matter on
Ive been using Artfol for a few years now and its always been my favorite, i’ve posted my art on other sites for as long as ive been an artist and usually never get a single like. But now i have over 100 followers and a minimum of 20 likes per post. Its not much but considering Artfol’s small community im content with it. Everyone on this platform is amazing and i’ve seen almost no toxicity and hate on it. 10/10 would recommend trying, its change for the better since it launched.
Way too many bugs
I’d love to use this app, but the overwhelming amount of bugs nearly makes it a waste of time. Crashing constantly, keyboard glitches, profile changes not saving sometimes, the list goes on. I can’t even look at this app professionally because it’s in such a shaky state right now. I’d rather deal with insta’s horrible algorithm. Then again twitter is a thing for now.
great community and awesome for artists
This app is genuinely great for artists. There is such a good community and i almost never see anything negative. Everyone is very encouraging and supportive to each other. Love that there isn’t a size limit on the art you can post. There is no algorithm, which gives everyone’s art a chance to be seen, and likes are mostly hidden. There is a dedicated section to asking for critiques, and a place where people can create challenges, which can be awesome for art block. There are also content warning filters you can use on your own art or to censor any art you might be uncomfortable with, which you can remove if you want to see the art. There are bugs somewhat often and the app isn’t the fastest, but the devs are very open and responsive to communication about any bugs or problems in the app. The app is fairly new-ish so I’m assuming there’s more to come, but even so it’s awesome so far. If you’re an artist i definitely recommend checking out this app, the community is so supportive and it’s nice to be able to post art without feeling the frustration of having to try to appeal to an algorithm. It takes away the competition and makes it more of a community. Really awesome, highly recommend!
Unable to post
The app looks so good and I want to love it. But I am unable to post anything. I try and just nothing happens... it’s hard to be a part of the community this app is building when you literally cannot participate.
a solid fourth choice art platform
a drawing app that unintentionally promotes networking, artfol relies entirely on sharing and social connections to promote art. there’s no algorithm to get noticed by without having to “social climb” if you dont have any friends on the app. additionally, major features are buggy and the app frequently shuts down. for me a major one is changing my email. however i haven’t re-installed the app since open beta, so it may be an error from that. loading times arent bad! however, i would resort to artfol if the large art platforms became uninhabitable. it’s cute, its community hasn’t died, and it is being worked on actively. i’m hopeful for the app’s future.

Love it! But still very new
Love this app as an artist. The layout of both the entire interface UX is great and the customizing for your profile is awesome. But it’s still a fairly new app and there are bugs that crawl out now and then. I do with there were a way to block seeing reposts, there are some users that repost every single post that clogs up my feed. But other than that I’m in love with Artfol
Needs improvement
I love the concept but the app is beyond frustrating to use. I understand this is a new app but the loading times are quite honestly ridiculous and often glitches out whilst you’re attempting to edit your profile. So far, I’m not a fan.
Doesn’t Stand Out
I really wanted to like ArtFol, but I just never find myself wanting to use it. Without an algorithm I feel like my art reaches even fewer people, because the only people who ever see it are the ones actively scrolling the new posts the second I post anything (which is very brief, uploads quickly leave the new posts page). Which I know their argument is I have to engage with others to see engagement on my own stuff, but the next problem makes engaging with others a pain. The load times for everything on the app is extremely slow. It takes forever for pages to load and makes using the app a pain. I’ll often find myself scrolling on similar apps, such as Instagram, but given how long it takes everything to load on ArtFol I never find myself interested enough to stay on the app. That being said, I really love the gallery not being limited to set size images. Being able to upload images in their original shape and the app auto sizing everything to make your gallery appealing is amazing. I also really appreciate the efforts they make to ensure the picture quality isn’t downgraded. All things considered, this app is mediocre. It struggles to do the one thing it promised to (encourage better engagement for artists) and it has loading times that make using it a nuisance. It may still have good features, but not enough to warrant a better review. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great either.
Currently the best art posting social
Artfol might be the only art social out right now thats not on fire. Its gotten to the point that other art socials dread updates because they will inevitably ruin something worse. Artfol not only has updates that IMPROVE the app, imagine that! But also they listen to feedback and once even worked to resolve one of the glitches I encountered! And it was fixed just like that! No algorithms, only you, your posts, and your art. In a time when every other art posting place is on dead or on fire, maybe both, artfol is the last beacon for casual art posting and browsing. Give it a go if you are fed up with insta, twitter, DA, amino, tumblr, ect ect!

great but some issues
i like the app but the texting is bugging me a lot. Every time i try to paste something like a link it’s so hard to cuz the keyboard is weird and it’s in light mode for some reason. And since the app has no algorithm, posts usually get 1 or 2 likes from people who happens to scroll by and there’s not many fandoms or any categories so it’s broad but in a bad way. I think this app might have a chance to redeem itself but idk.
Promising but...
Promising app for artists and networking. The issue is that it ALLOWS NSFW content in theory, providing a check mark to indicate that a piece is NSFW, however in their TOS they’re vague about what they don’t allow. Basically says that artistic nudes are okay but also don’t qualify where they draw the line explicitly. There needs to be some kind of outline so artists who like to paint NSFW content know where the line is so they don’t get reprimanded for painting NSFW content because there’s a filter for it, when in reality it’s not allowed.
App will not open
I tried reopening and redownloading the app but it stays on the logo and doesn’t load what it’s supposed too? I really am desperate to get this app since Instagram changed too many things so it’s impossible for me to grow or get my art noticed. It’s stuck on the Logo loading page and it isn’t loading anything, pls fix this 😅 This app seems fun…
