Worth premium
I normally hate paid subscription/paywall apps but as of this writing it’s only $3.99 for monthly and worth every penny for what I’ve found to be a pretty accurate forecast on several climbs.
Dreadful
Absolutely dreadful UI and terrible user experience. Possibly one of the worst I’ve seen! The forecasts are generally always wrong! Very typical of mountain-forecast.com. They are aways inaccurate. Just avoid this app, it’s dreadful.
Units of measurement
It would be nice to switch between imperial and metric. If this is possible it’s not intuitive. I’ve looked online and in the app. Note that I get the extended forecast because I pay for GAIA. This subscription gets me access to mountain forecast, skier mag and I think all other Outdoor Mag websites
UPDATED 5/25 - Free App Only Gives Details Of Current Day, So FAR Less Useful than Bedore
Update—Since they changed the basic (free) version, I don’t use it much anymore. Future days are forecast-limited to morning/afternoon/night, so basically useless. And I’m not paying $25/year for something I can pretty much get for free (NOAA, AccuWeather, Weather underground and many, many more). I think all previous reviews should be wiped clean when there’s this much of a change in the app. Otherwise, they’re false. Previous review: As my title says, FREE. For now anyway. God help me if they start charging for the basic version. I’d have to go back to NOAA, which is pessimistic and doesn’t do spot forecasts. Mountain Forecast lacks the ability to find ridges or other relatively minor places you might want to hike, but there’s that magic word FREE. And, combined with ACCURATE, it’s pretty much unbeatable. I live close to Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park. I discovered the mountain-forecast site after asking a ranger what they used. I find the app to be significantly more accurate than NOAA, especially because it gives you data on at least two elevations. That’s huge for someone like me who seeks elevation and hates hiking up in the heat. Going down, warm is okay. Also, the app is more accurate on hike day (or morning, as I often do short morning hikes in the foothills). I can see hour-by-hour how it’s going to be, and can get out and enjoy some sun (and often low wind) when I see it’ll cloud up and blow/snow/rain in the afternoon. So, in short, I’m very grateful to the folks behind the app for allowing me easy forecasting accuracy for free. Thank you, mountain forecast.

Great App!
Forecasts for specific mountains you can't find anywhere else
Another greedy developer
Considering that the weather data is taken from local sources, for free, yet you don’t know how to pull together a half decent effort on forecasting, you are now charging subscription for anything beyond a two-three day weather window?? Ridiculous at best and conniving at worse. Unfortunately plenty of gullible folk out there to support this daylight robbery. Could tell you where to put it.
Great app! Very useful info at a glance
Have been using the website. Tried the app. It’s well organized, the ‘closest peak’ feature is nice. The graphical display of the freezing line is nice. Would give 5 stars, but the $ for info means I’ll probably go back to using the website. Wife and I only use to check conditions in the summer/fall season.
Jumbled up
An improvement on the previous App, but the data is out of line in the table: eg the freezing level is where the information about the humidity should be. Useable but not great. I wouldn’t pay for an app that hasn’t even the basics right.
Online has more utility
Online is incredibly useful, was hoping with pro it’d be a bit better. Any way to view past weather would be ideal, often it’s nice to see what was finally recorded…
The Best
The best mountain weather app in the game. Multi-elevation reports and long range forecast’s are key when planning trips into the backcountry.
Won’t let me change password
I got a new phone so I had to sign in for the 1st time in a long time and couldn’t find a screenshot of my password. I followed the prescribed “forgot password” procedure but then it refused the new password. Why do you even bother with a “forgot password” function if you’re not even going to follow your own directions! Your rules apply to you as well! Your program is straight rubbish!
Waited a long time for this...
I've used Mountain-Forecast.com for many years and found it to be reliable and easy to use - especially the forecasts at different elevations. I was pleased to find they launched an app and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent mapping functionality, though it would be good to record GPS tracks as well.

Too pricey
£25 subscription or the website for free (along with their competitors such as mwis and met office in the UK). I’d pay £25 as a one off for the convenience of the app but not on a rolling subscription. A shame because I liked the app on the free trial.
The Final Puzzle Piece
Instead of piecing the forecast together from multiple apps and websites Mountain Forecast has been the one stop shop for the most accurate forecasts per mountain. Normally I’d have to make my own predictions based off general location data. Now it’s as easy as looking up your mountaineering subject of choice and bingo everything you will need all in one place. It’s been extremely accurate for me so far. I 100% put trust in Mountain Forecast for my weather info. Perfect for making sure I stay safe and prepared out in the mountains. I highly recommend giving it a try and use it along side your normal weather forecasting process and see what gives you better results and ease of use. For full transparency I pay for the subscription and think it is worth the price, data and ease of use make it a great value. In my opinion you can’t put a price on making it home safely after a trip out into the mountains and accurate forecasts are essential!
👎🏻
I signed up thinking it’s as good as the webpage… nope! The graph doesn’t even line up aka temperature shows by snowfall icon. And they want $5 per month if you want the long range forecast. Disappointing!!!
Web browser is better
It’s that simple go to this website on your web browser it’s better
Easy to use
Excellent app. Clear and easy to use. No jumping distracting ads! :P
Paywall
Free to use (for 10 days). I feel deceived
Awesome weather app!
The app is packed with information, once you realize how to use it all!
Free version Totally Useless
Don’t bother to download this App - anything other than very basic information is locked away until you subscribe. Typical developer’s con 👎
Use it to plan all my mountain trips
The app is intuitive and easy to use. All the info I need to plan my hiking and backpacking trips. The cloud base data is especially helpful. I’ve found the forecasts to be pretty reliable, especially within a few days out.
Joke
They charge you to use the app, but you can use it for free off their website. Total joke. You shouldn’t be charging for something that can impact peoples decisions when in the alpine regions.
Best Mountain Weather App Ever
I struggled to find a good weather app to help forecast my local mountains, and this is literally the most accurate tool ever. Premium subscription is definitely worth it!
Waste of £24.99 👎🏻
I would spend more than that if its at least 50% accurate. But its such a crap and nothing there to purchase Pro membership!! 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Get accurate forecasts for hiking/hunting
Don’t rely on your local forecast for what is happening in the mountains. This app will help you plan much better trips.
Not User Friendly.
Just use the web page instead for the info you need. Great information.
Elk Hunting
Mountain-Forecast is an excellent source of detailed current and future mountain weather. This level of information is crucial when planning for and hunting elk in high elevation mountains.
Would be great if it worked at all
App works for about 4 seconds, never any longer.
