Best little sniffer
I am so glad I got this - found a little sneaky little computer that a programmer had changing IPs every minute to hide the thing. Exported a few scans to a spreadsheet and did a compare for each row and discovered it. Got my lunch paid for.
Misleading and Incomplete Results
App does not display accurate information as shown in App Store. No MAC Address is displayed and the manufacturer title shows the number of seconds it was updated. Useless app at best

Seriously… Now you limit to 28 the number of devices your freebee scans? I’m removing it from my system to avoid frustrations.
15 device limit
the 15 device free version limit is not enough in modern times when you have multiple mobile devices, printer, desktop, laptop, security camera and so on. but when you do have less than 16 devices is a really nice app. however out of principle i never pay for software hence the three star.

It works, but
It works, but it’s absolutely mind blowing how resource intensive it is, do not forget to pause it when you leave the window, because it will just keep scanning, and it will do it while using up more resources than a complex 3d cad model! This is one of the only things that will make my M1 heat up and hemorrhage battery.
NICE TO SEE AND KNOW WHAT’S ON NETWORK
I downloaded the trial version just to see how IP SCANNER worked. It gave me a quick snapshot of most of my network, and presented it in a grid format which I found recognizable. I upgraded to the full version and saw I had a lot more devices than I realized on my home network…DOESN’T EVERYBODY?? I also found a couple of items I still trying to track down. But it is also nice to know that if someone else is ti=riding on my track I can ‘see them’. Very happy!

Just updated it and it crashed. Reopen and shows nothing.

Simple network scanner. Has all the simple tools I need to ID devices on my network. One price, no subscriptions. Would be nice if the settings window pane was resizable. The only reason I’m knocking one star off is due to the extreme small settings window pane. Other than that, good product for the price.
No trial
Probably would have bought it if it had a full capability trial period. As it is it’s paywalled right from the start and no way to evaluate it completely. So I deleted it.

An exceptional tech support experience
I rarely write reviews, but in this case I have to call out tech support for their immediate response (on a Saturday evening no less) to a problem I found with a storm of DNS lookups. They were extremely responsive, and had a new version out within a couple of days. Bravo

Solid Product
Very intuitive and great interface. I didn’t see an option for Trace Rout, WhoIS and other popular common tools. Overall, one of the better and well worth the cost.

Oh and also if you accidentally remove something there’s no way to get it back.

die Schrift und die Grafiken sind viel zu klein.. das kann ich kaum noch erkennen. 2024 hat man große Monitore mit hohen Auflösungen.. da muss das nicht in Micro-Schrift sein ;)
Extremely handy for home and SMB
Indispensable utility to assign meaningful names and icons to all those phones, laptops and smart home devices on your network. Especially good for devices that don’t automatically display much with the access point built-in software to audit and track what you’ve got.
App ecosystem confusion
There are too many variations of the same app in these app stores vs the iphone and ive paid for a bunch and none of them seem to talk to eachother

und was mich stört... Es wäre schön, wenn man zusätzlich zum DNS Namen den mDNS Namen einfließen lassen würde. Hintergrund - mein Router behandelt Geräte mit fester IP-Adresse nicht und es taucht somit ein UNBEKANNT auf. Würde man zusätzlich eine mDNS Abfrage einfügen, könnte man eben Name.local anzeigen und könnte so auch per Name.local auf das Gerät zugreifen. Beim Angry Ip Scanner wird das so gelöst und bei LanScan ist eine weitere Spalte mDNS vorhanden.
Easy to use, really?
Either I'm as dense as a piece of wood, or this software is non-intuitive and very frustrating to use. I've moved from LANscan, a free(-ish) tool that I've been using for years, until they started charging for more than the bare minimum of features. So this app, IP Scanner - where to start? There is no "scan now" button, it's just a menu pick from the top lvel of the toolbar. It doesn't show the IP address range that it's scanning over. I assume this is because it's just using my MacBook's current subnet, but it doesn't tell you this, so when a scan comes back completrely blank it's hard to know how to start diagnosing. I run a small community nertwork, and when looking for problems I'm frequently switching my Mac between the WAN (172.16.x.x) and LAN (192.168.x.x) domains. So again, if a scan comes up blank I can't immediately see if it's scanned the right IP address range or not. Add to this some other frustrating issues, like the function to clear the current scan results is buried in yet another toolbar menu pick rather than a dedicated button on the app's home screen. I need to work quickly when diagnosing network issues, and this app certainly doesn't allow me to do that. Very frustrating as I suspect that the LAN/port scanning engine at the heart of the app is very robust, but the GUI just makes it unusable.

There are too many “unknown” entries! When I have identified some and named them they disappear after a couple of scans!

Free version (Lite) Worthless for novice
There is no set of instructions or any information regarding use of the app. It runs a system scan with a display of devices with addresses. Nothing else and a search doesn’t yield any.

La aplicacion scanea cada minuto pero no es exacta porque no presenta la realidad de los equipos conectados, he probado conectando y desconectando mis dispositivos y no refleja lo que realmente existe. Algunas ocasiones si pone el nombre del dispositivo y en otras no lo identifica.

Awesome app!
Every now and then I check my network and usually have to remember what was what. This takes the guessing out of it. One device wasn't showing up on the initial scans, manually added it and now it sees it every time. You won't be disappointed.
Great Network Tool
I am glad I added this to my network tool box. It works as advertised. It is well worth the price I paid for it. It also works on the iPad and iPhone. It help me identify my equipment on why Lan.
Does not work on iPad
Works on my iPhone but not on iPad. Says No WiFi detected when iPad is connected and working on WiFi.

A bit hit and miss
Whilst it works mostly fine on iOS, it’s definitely less stable under MacOS. On iOS if you scan on two separate devices, they do not always show the same results, even though the settings are the same. On MacOS, the app regularly “Forgets” the custom names assigned to MAC addresses, even when the IP address remains the same. This is frustrating and a shame as the Mac version appears to be more accurate in the devices found. There is also a little problem of “Ghosting” where a device is reported even after it has been removed from the network, and removed manually from the app (including after rebooting). It certainly has its uses and is probably one of the better IP scanners out there, but it’s a shame it’s not as stable as it could be.

Working with Raspberry Pi Pico W. This is a great help. Especially seeing what port are open and being able to assign you own Name to each divice.
No way to skip free trial
I clicked the close button when prompted for a free trial and got out of the app. Turns out closing the window (instead of approving a free trial and signing up) is impossible. Best not to download the app.
