Not super interested in ships but love this app
I’m mostly into aviation (airplanes), but I do like checking out what ships are nearby. Especially when I’m by the ocean and see something interesting, it’s really satisfying for me to find out what It is and all the other details. (I don’t have any complaints by the way.) It’s quite a great app and it satisfies my urge to know about the things I see at sea.

This is a terrible service. You pay and it never works properly. While you have an amazing product, the way you created this app is unfriendly. You have to login over and over and always through the web not the app itself. It always says I have to open an account but I have one and I paid for it in full. I do not recommend using the paid service. It is a waste of time and money.

“New” Marine Traffic
Very disappointed with new format. I now have Great Lakes ships that I can literally see from my deck that the app says “vessel out of range”. One of my best friends is the Captain of a United States Research Vessel in the Aleutians, and he will text me his exact location, and the boat doesn’t even show up on the app. Never had this problem with the “old” Marine Traffic.
Needs work
Formerly was the best app available. Now good if you pay for pro plan. But, you frequently get kicked out of pro plan and must login again. Super pain when you have it running on multiple devices. Please fix this issue before you waste more time on augmented reality. Cheers!
Great app
I love this app for tracking super yacht. The app works quite well. I have the mobile pro plan, I love it, but I just wish you could add more than 20 ships to your fleet.
Sail clear of this app
It used to be a useful app, but new updates and the forced harvesting of your data is bad! Unless you pay for the pro version, you wont actually be able to track any ships or get their details. Disappointed with the greed

Recent New Look
The recent update completely changed the look of this app and it has been buggy and I haven’t been able to use this app as intended once. The new look is not an improvement in my opinion. But I can’t even use the app to search a vessel because it crashes every time. The need to seriously work on fixing this before I look elsewhere for vessel tracking. Nautical Charts
Having used the app for some time, l realised that if l purchased Mobile Pro Plan, l would be able to see the charts as Nautical and this as a master mariner used all the time on my ships. However having paid £29.99 l could see the ships on a nautical chart but only for a few weeks. I’m now back to a simple plan and the app is directing me to pay again to get Mobile Pro Plan. Having already paid, as shown in apple account, I’m not paying again to get the Nautical Chart showing. Please can you refund the money or get back with nautical chart.
New Update Ruined the App
I love tracking and watching big Great Lakes freighters from outside my window throughout the year. I used to use this app almost daily and had all the filters and fleets set to my preferences. After the recent overhaul of the app, I can’t use this app anymore. All of the filters and settings I had set are gone. The app logs me out after every use. The tracker doesn’t even seem to be in real time anymore. I look out my window and see a 1000 footer on the horizon, but when I open the app, there apparently aren’t any ships out there. This and about a hundred other reasons are why I will no longer be using this app. Extremely disappointing.

Still Impossible to open ProPlan despite all infos like payment are settled !!! Après le passage chez Kepler,une modification était nécessaire et ça a été OK sur IPhone et IPad. Maintenant malgré mes abonnements de 37€ jusqu’en avril 2027,je ne peux plus accéder aux Nautical Charts entre autres.J’ai rechargé MARTR plusieurs fois,changé le mot de passe.,rien n’y fait ??j’attends vos conseils pour régler ces problèmes
All The Great Aps Are Getting Ruined
I have been using this Ap for a long time and a year ago it was still pretty good. Now the graphics, particularly the ship icons, are so ugly it’s hard to find the boat you are looking for.
New changes suck
They got rid of a lot of stuff that was free before like creating fleets. Bummed to see them money grabbing.
Clean new UI and love the new Augmented reality upgrade
Was able to look at all the vessels near shore and in the marina whilst on holiday. Definitely seeinf the new version improving.
Collects personal information
The latest version requires me to consent to the collection of personal data for no good reasons, and the terms and conditions state that if I use the paid plan I waive my right to “withdraw from the subscription.” No, thank you! I’ve used the app for many years, but now it’s time to delete it from my phone.

An old sea traveler introduced me to this app 11 years ago, and it has remained a staple ever since. It’s also one of the few apps left with the integrity to keep the name Gulf of Mexico — a small thing, but it speaks volumes.

Hard to used
I find this new version difficult to use since the upper and lower peninsula and Wisconsin aren’t delineated. It was much easier when the lakes were shown as blue and the states and cities were in more detail.
Lost features that we paid for previously!!
Paid a one time price for this app years ago…now the current version took away vessel information, like length, width, etc. To get these back, they want 5 bucks per month! I DON’T THINK SO! The new map version stinks as well. Much harder to read than the prior version.

The update is HORRID
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Please! The “new” maps are horrid. The international lines are so thick that entire ship icons are hidden behind them unless you zoom in as far as it goes and sometimes they are still barely visible. This line is three times as thick as the letters of the ship names in a hard to read font color. The waterway shorelines look like a child erased a real map and filled in with crayons, markers, and finger paints the colors, textures and lines are so inconsistent. We don’t need Google Maps here, just land with city and town markers and coastal landmarks. I almost cry every time I open this new version (the major changes one before this update). Visuals are NOT better. Also, the 24 hour “past track” used to allow you to click a point on that path to see what time they were at any point on their past track (what time did American Soirit sail under the Blue Water bridges?” so you could use this time stamp to rewind a ship camera feed (such as the streamtime live cams) on YouTube to see them sail through areas where this is recorded. The path line now is useless. We can see where they started and where they’re going with text data. A scribbled line means nothing really. The map choice that is solid gray and white is blinding and useless. In my opinion, the new version is so far inferior to the previous version it can’t be recorded. I’m not kidding. I’m in the Great Lakes region with the lakes and adjoining rivers where knowing what ships and where (and when) they’ll be here is so important to get out there to see them. I have screenshots of everything I’ve detailed if the developers are interested enough to see the before and after. This is the ONLY app I’ve ever paid for and I honestly think I’m ready to jump ship and look for other apps. Believe it or not, I’m not a complainer and I usually don’t leave reviews, good or bad, but I can’t not say what I said a moment longer. Don’t mess with my ships!!! Thank you for hearing this feedback. Please revert!! The old version was amazing.
Avoid until the developer fixes it, used to be fantastic
Don’t bother getting until the developers fixes the bugs. Constantly freezes since the last update and is harder to use. Please take it back to how it was before the last update because that worked fantastic and I would recommend it often, now I just recommend people to avoid it. Every day I use it less and less because it freezes nearly every time. Developers please read the comments here, notice the repeating theme…frustrated users who until recently enjoyed using your app, which helps often for marine safety.

I really like this app, but wish it told the length of the freighter like the previous version of this app before the latest update.

Recent update requires you to make an account and agree to harvest your data. Used to be for ship tracking now it is tracking you. Boo.
Marine Traffic photo library
US using Marine Traffic details to identify vessels from Columbia. With the surge in US naval interdiction of vessels suspected of carrying drugs towards the USA. It has been suggested that vessels on ‘innocent passage’ update their MT details to help in identifying them in the event of an incident at sea. It has been suggested that updating vessel photos on Marine Traffic would help in identifying vessels on ‘innocent passage’. We attempted to upload a photo of our vessel radio call sign which is clearly visible on our Bimini roof. Our photo of the call sign was rejected by Marine Traffic as ‘not relevant’. Subsequently we were shadowed and intimidated by three vessels, over a period of three hours, as we were heading from Panama to the Galapagos. And that same night a ‘drug smuggling vessel’ was intercepted and sunk in the same area. Marine Traffic’s refusal to upload our ID put us in a life threatening situation. I have written to them twice, but have heard nothing back. Very disappointed in their response.
Old version more intuitive
Hey there! I’ve had this app for nearly a decade when it was originally free and didn’t have a paywall and I did the update a couple months or so back. I want to like this new version, a lot. But man it’s been frustrating to have lost so much access that I previously had. When the update went through I was able to see all of the same things as before, including being able to track the vessel and its speed at a given time. Though I was given the whole, “thank you for being with us for so long, we appreciate it and you’ll still be able to use the app the same as before, nothing will change for you” this is false. I just started getting the paywall in the app and I’m a little miffed about it. The previous version allowed me to change the time depending on where I am and not just give UTC, this version does not. The previous version was snappy, if I clicked on something it immediately popped up, this version lags quite a bit. Overall, I’ve lost more from doing the switch than I’ve gained. Even if I were to pay for it now, the features on it that I DO have access to just seem……different, and not in a good way. Like what it would feel like if you were a carpenter, used to making things with solid wood, but you replaced your materials with chip board and cheap veneer. It does the same job, but you get less quality for more money than it should be. I’m really bummed this is how this has gone, you guys have some great ideas and I don’t know if you’ll even read this but I guess I just had to put it somewhere.
Change is not always better
I am a paying customer with the Mobile Pro Plan, using the latest version of the app on my iPhone .Since the major overhaul of the app, a number of things do not work anymore as expected. Making a track of a ship visible is one example, using the refresh button another. This used to be better in the past. Hopefully the programmers reevaluate these options.

Yes, it's horrible now - have used it for at least 10 years and just can't since the update. What a farce. Is there no way to search for a particular nation's flagged ships in a certain area any longer? It used to be in the advanced search functions.
Features don‘t exist anymore
Why is historical playback unavailable in the iOS app, and why does the mobile website force me back into the app where this feature doesn't exist?

Disappointed
I have used this app for years. Always loved it. This years major update is so disappointing. Ships come by that are not showing on the app. It’s hard to stay out of their way when the app I pay for is inaccurate. There were 3 today that did not show on the app

This has the potential to be great but every time I set it up and come back to use it in a hurry they’ve logged me out and it’s a long frustrating process to get it running again. Over and over. Won’t allow me to log in at all today, wasted a ton of time. Just cancelled my subscription, can’t count on the app when I need it 👎🏻
Version 2.0 bestes Update
Seit dem die Entwickler die App ernst genommen haben und MarineTraffic 2.0 rausgekommen ist, ist es die beste App für Schiffe. Das Update bringt viele erwünschte Features raus und viele Sachen die früher ärgerlicherweise gepaywalled waren, sind frei verfügbar und nur wirkliche Premium Features (wie bei FR24) sind berechtigt Premium. Wirklich positiv überrascht über v2.0. Bitte weiter so!
New Update Is Terrible
New update doesn’t look like there old. I can’t figure out hire to use it. I loved the old versions, but can’t even recognize the app anymore.
