Best of the bunch
Tried several similar apps but this is the best of the lot. Deleted the others and just rely on this one and it hasn’t let me down.
Maps don’t always load
Happy to take my £45 for a yearly subscription but then the maps don’t load on iPad or iPhone. Is there a fix for this? If not I might be looking for a refund.
Eigentlich schöne und gute App
Was mor jedoch fehlt, das man ich meinen Standort auf der Karte angezeigt bekomme. Hier und da hat man Probleme beim schauen die Schiffe und Boote entsprechend zuzuordnen, wenn man nicht genau sieht, wo man selbst steht.
Data incorrect
Ok so I am trying out this app to track a ship a relative is cruising on, 28 day cruise to Canada. I am trying two other apps also only one is showing a correct location, this is not one of them. The ship is showing as being in St John’s Canada and has been for the past 4 days, it’s not it’s on route to Southampton and is due to dock in under 24 hours. How can I have confidence in an app to track vessels when it can’t get it right?
Full screen video apps ruined this.
I understand that these developers have costs. The lengthy full screen video apps ruined this. There are times I want to look up a boat or the tracking and I am hindered by ads I can’t skip.
The new Overhaul is Awesome!
It’s been a while since the overhaul (which happened sometime last spring or summer I believe), but I wanted to wait until I had a chance to use it properly before I left an updated review. My previous review, I mentioned how the app was inferior to the website version. I’m happy to say that is no longer the case. It’s at least as good as the website version, if not better. I use this app for ship watching in the Great Lakes area (Usually around Duluth/Superior). The app was very useful for that before, but it’s even better now. Two of the major changes I loved are: —Increased AIS range. The ships remain in-range across most of Lake Superior now, instead of going out of range an hour or two after leaving a port. —Being able to see the ETA/ETD of ships. Before, you could only see the ETA once it got close to the port. Now, as long as the ship has reported its ETA/ETD, the app will tell you what it is. —Improved ship information cards. Previously, the information given on ships when you pressed on them was a little lacking. Now, it tells you practically everything you’d want to know. The size of the ship, its location, past port calls, destination, etc. There are others, but we’d be here all day if I continued talking about what I liked. There are a few things I disliked, but they’re minor and not deserving of making those review a 4 star. Here’s what they are: —Ads. I understand that this is a free-to-use app that takes money to maintain, and most of the ads are unobtrusive and therefore don’t bother me. However, the full-screen ads that show up when you first open the information on a ship after launching the app can be quite annoying—especially when some are videos that last upwards of 30 seconds. —There is no button to take you to the location of the ship from its information page. You can look at the track of the ship, but that’s it. I think the ‘Map’ button should take you to the ship’s current location on the map. Idk if it’s supposed to do this, but it returns you to the same part of the map you were at before searching for the ship. Overall, this app is great. Easily the best AIS app I’ve used. Marine Traffic seems to be the preference among the ship watcher community, but in my experience it’s slow & buggy compared to this app, and also requires you to pay for a subscription to see all the information on the ship—most of which you could search up online anyway. Also, Marine Traffic tends to tell you in accurate ETAs for ships. For example, the James L. Oberstar came into Duluth this morning, and this app reported 7:00am ETA, which was almost spot-on, while Marine Traffic reported 11am ETA. I prefer this app over Marine Traffic. So, if any of the devs read this review, very well done on the overhaul.
Allows VERY DODGY Adverts!!!
This app allows very dodgy adverts including malicious ones that claim things like “your device is hacked” - “go to our website now to clean your device” If you see stuff like this pay no attention it’s designed to scare you to make you download their stuff which will ACTUALLY infect your device. Very alarming that the app allows those kinds of ads. Normal ads are annoying but atleast they aren’t malicious.

I like this app very much, I wish this app can show the depth of sea where the ships are.

Latest update means less info (no pics for example) and more adverts. No longer fit for purpose. Have deleted.

Ship Tracking
It sometimes does not track ships. It is way behind time with ships position.
Used to be a good app
Sadly not anymore. Functionally good, but we used to get a picture of a ship when clicked, not any more. Recently we now get a stupid advert when a vessel is clicked fir more info. An absolute joke, avoid.

Now a waste of time
When I first downloaded it worked well but since the last update it is a total waste of time. If the developers don’t sort this out they may as well delete it.
Good app but I have recommendations
It’s a good app because it actually updates in real time unlike others where they are 2 hours behind and are locked behind a pay wall. Only thing I don’t like is that I am use to using dark mode on my phone which would be nice if you could switch the app to dark mode.

This is a terrific app and easy to use. My only problem is that I can’t work out the color coding for different types of vessel. Is there a key somewhere. I haven’t found a key yet.
Too Many Ads — App Is Now Unusable
This used to be a great app for tracking ships, but now it’s absolutely ruined by constant ads. Every time I try to check vessel positions, I’m interrupted by pop-ups and long ad breaks. It’s frustrating, slow, and not worth the hassle anymore. What used to be a useful tool has turned into a waste of time.

Unintuitive
Very difficult to work out how this works. Can’t find ships by name, but ships are clearly displayed on maps. No intuitive way to show a specific ship on the map (especially when the ship isn’t found in search). Added a ship to fleet, but still couldn’t zoom in on the map to focus on the ship. Frustrating as a free app. Won’t be paying for it.

Hi I’m trying to track MSC world Europe but when I’m on my app it’s taking me to a cargo ship?
Needs additional info.
I have this app only 3 stars. I like to see the selected ships show up indicating it’s geographical position in addition to its geo coordinates. Please make these changes to improve its effectiveness.

I recently moved to Greystones in County Wicklow, Ireland. I have magnificent Irish Sea views from my office. Your app has created a new interest identifying the passing traffic. Most enjoyable. Much appreciated.
No Response
Totally useless and have informed on a few occasions where ships are clearly not in the position the app shows them. Despite advising, no response and no change. There are other apps that are now much better
Ok
Many ships showing destinations wrong to their locations or direction. Some ships listed as fishing vessels or other when actually freighters. Wrongly classified.
Used to be good
Have used this app for several years and it has always worked but now it has changed. Go to find a vessel which is sailing by and the app is showing vessels which have sailed 18 hours ago. Very frustrating.
Not enough updates
I am looking for the vessel my son works on. Your app says the vessel has not moved in two days and they are six days farther down the river right now than the app shows.

I live in New Romney actually the coast at Littlestone and watch the ships passing through the channel all day long. It’s simple to click on the ship or boat icon and then look at a picture of the ship and read where it came from and it’s heading combining the vessel tracker shows you what’s going on in the English Channel which is fascinating. But that’s just the start looking around the globe you can see all the ships the resent suez channel problem showed how many ships were waiting and the problem caused by that major delay. Very useful sitting anywhere and looking out to sea especially at night you can see where the lightships are moored and the channel markers . Fishing vessels come from all directions you can see how far these they travel to bring us fresh fish and look at the tracking to see they transverse the sea back and forth. Plus it’s all free. Too many adverts
Used to use this all the time but adverts every time you click on a vessel info, and timed so you can’t do anything for 10+seconds makes it unusable. App been deleted.

Used to be my go to shipping app.
This used to be my go to shipping app, as I found it far superior in comparison to another competitor. However, this app update needs a lot of changes to make it my favourite again. Many vessels have photos missing. The app isn’t too bad on the iPhone or iPad but it needs serious changes for the MacBooks. Firstly, all device versions need a “Follow Vessel” button like the web version does. Ship data and photos need a serious update as there is a lot of data and photos missing. I even uploaded my own photos but after three weeks, they are still pending. So, I have deleted them as it’s obvious, this company isn’t interested. There are far too many ads literally all over the main screen. I appreciate you need revenue but surely not at the cost of the tracking map. There is no Satellite map, just a basic map. You have to log in every single time you open the app/web page or your device goes into sleep mode, considering there is a “Remember Me” radio button to check. And finally, how do you buy a plan, as no one from sales or support reply to your email and there’s nothing within the app store, or in app purchases? Don’t you want our money? This app/web page and company are not worth dealing with. And even with the most recent update. Ads, ads, ads. I do not want ads. I would like to pay for an ad-free subscription. This app is usable
This app opens quickly, give accurate information, and for a free app, does everything I need it to do, like search and show specific vessels on a map, show where it came from, etc.
Seems to lag behind actual movements
App seems to lag behind actual movements, for example I’ve been stood looking at 3 ships in my local port, according to the app they were all 150-200 miles away.
Review
What a great program. My strong suggestion to improve is to add into the map, the present position of the user (blue dot similar to Google Maps and other mapping programs). I use the app on my boat to watch for large ais vessels BUT, my position doesn’t show.
