My motivation
When I need motivation to get my fitness going is this app. Money always motivates me
Stole my money. Don’t do it!
Do not get involved with this betting app. It is a good motivator, but that’s all it is. Today I checked my account because I was going to use my balance to buy another round of diet betting, but when I got in I saw that they had taken my $82.78 aware and transferred it somewhere for no reason. Then again this July they cleaned out the rest of my $82.78 and stated that my “points expired”. I was in and out of the hospitals for multiple surgeries during the time period that my appoints apparently “expired” and it was not recommended for me to exercise consistently (enough to lose wait) and the surgeries had my weight plunging and skyrocketing and there wasn’t a scale at the hospitals for me to take a selfie on. Now I was using this as a kind of savings account that I could keep earning on when I felt the need to take a challenge. It might say it now that the points will expire, but it didn’t say that the last time I used the app. So they stole my $165.56 away from me. And you have to put your OWN MONEY IN. I could understand if it were reward money, but I actually had to pay to get into the diet games. Looking for a lawyer to start a class action lawsuit. Anyone interested to do it with us? UPDATE: THEY STILL HAVE MY MONEY, so if you’re dumb enough to put any money in, TAKE EVERY CENT OUT AS YOU WIN! THAT WAY THE MOST YOU WILL LOSE IS WHAT YOU JUST PLACED ABET ON. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR NUMBER.
Good concept, Suspect rules / judges, app is limited
I’m disappointed with how I was treated by the judges and customer service. Be careful to pay attention to all the rules because the judges have discretion to deem your surface unacceptable. After four emails of asking for reconsideration, I was finally granted my winnings.
Small winnings, hard to withdraw
I hate this app. Don’t sign up. I signed up for a challenge. I won a whopping two dollars then when I tried to get my money back, including what I added to the bet, they gave me a hard time and it kept being rejected when I tried to cash out.
Won My Money Back but Took Time to Receive It
I won my own money back (no profit) but I still have not received my payout. I contacted support and they acknowledged my payout was requested. I followed the troubleshooting steps and it took two weeks for it to be received.
Another Tool in the “Weight Loss Toolkit”!
As someone who has “battled the bulge” for most of my life, I am often looking for tools to help me keep my weight in check. DietBet is a wonder tool to use to lose or maintain weight. The customer service is top-notch and the differing levels of support (weight loss, exercise, nutrition) has proven to be excellent!
This used to be good
I used DietBet for years. Just came back. They had zero engagement attempts. The coach was clearly a robot who was not participating except for the template. Then 77 out of 96 people won yet we only broke even- even though our game had a 300 add to the pot. Used to be great. Now it’s only great if you’re on glp1 and don’t need support to lose weight
Good motivational tool, caution advised.
Good motivational tool, you must have the right mindset when entering. There are some individuals who have themselves, and also encourage, unhealthy habits in order to make their weight goals. I had one person suggest the use of laxatives in the final week in order to make weight. I found overall betting money on myself to lose weight was a good motivational tool, I was able to lose the weight and I believe even If I hadn’t the 30 day bet helped encourage me to build some healthy habits. It would be better if there were more tools available like diet and exercise advice and some kind of moderators to help prevent people from encouraging eating disorders and laxative abuse. Good tool for self motivation not always so good for community/support.
Feels like a scam
I won my diet bet and still lost money. I paid $45 and won $43.50 back. It was very disappointing. I didn’t do it for the money, but I feel it was false advertising.
Scam
The app itself works well and so is the idea behind the app - it motivates you to lose wait. But there are a few reasons why this app is a scam/moneymaker for the company. First, you don’t “win” much. DietBet takes a significant cut. I started off winning about $35, then subsequent games I won $8, $5, and $1.5. After you factor out a $5 membership, you’ve walked away with very little or are in the hole. Second, 4% of body wait, which is the typical amount you need to lose in a game, is tough to do and borderline unhealthy over a 4 week span. I get that DietBet needs a cut to pay the referees and operate the app, but they are definitely pulling in good profit for very little output.
Accountability
It’s a great community to help you stay accountable. The games I have been in have been wonderfully supportive!

Good motivation to lose weight and win but the app kicks me out and has me log in every time, very frustrating

Buyer Beware
Can be fun and motivating but make sure you cash out your winnings. Logged in to sign up for a challenge 13 months after my last challenge and my account was at zero. I lost $234 of winnings bc I didn’t participate within a year. No email warning. Won’t be giving them anymore money.
Unclear Video Directions
I had to submit a video weigh-in. It got rejected 3 times. I watched the instructional video each time. I emailed Support and they sent me directions that were totally different than the instructional video on the app. It finally was accepted after I did video #4 and read the directions verbatim while recording my video.
Weight loss
Weight loss is hard, but the diet bet encourages and challenges you with the money envolved. This was my first attempt and I did win!
Warning- be careful!
I won the game. Afterwards, I opted to cash out the points and get money. My account shows the points have been deducted but no money has been deposited into any account that I have. I tried to contact customer support and the email is out of service. Sounds fishy to me! If I haven’t received my payment or a response that assures me they are working on it by tomorrow then I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. Taking money in this manner is called theft!

Don’t expect much money
I’m giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because I did get my money back and it did motivate me to lose weight. However, I only made about .70 cents on my winnings. Diet bet takes 25% of the pot so if too many people are successful you risk not even winning your money back.
Questions unanswered
I love the concept of DietBet and have just entered for the second time. I like the accountability it gives me. The frustrating thing is that you can ask lots of questions in the forum but it appears there is no admin/moderator answering them. I think that is very poor as when you’re first starting there are things you don’t know. My rating would have been higher but for this issue.
This is a scam!!
I won my game, received message that I won, did not receive the points. Sent in a email wondering where my winnings were. They responded with you didn’t final weigh in which I did and have the message saying final weigh in received.
Unfair - they will take your $100 & run
I signed up for Diet Bet to lose 4% body weight, which I BARELY hit. I submitted my final weigh-in and have been told that I need to resubmit because they can’t clearly read all the numbers on my scale. Well, that’s because the top lines on my digital scale are very dim but you can clearly tell what number is populating on the scale. I have been submitting weigh-ins for weeks on this exact scale & NOW that I’ve submitted my final weigh-in on the SAME SCALE I’ve been using the WHOLE time, they don’t want to accept it. And I can’t run out to the store to get the same one I’ve been using. I have to order it, which I could have done had they told me my scale was unacceptable in the first place.
Great accountability
I have a week to go before I finish my first game. This has given me the accountability that I need. I love that there are real people playing this game. People who know what it is like to be obese for so much of their lives. Today, I’m signing up for my second game. Looking forward to more success.
Does not let me login
I was able to make an account, log in, join a diet bet game but suddenly the app logged me out and does not let me log back in. It says my email or password is incorrect. I continued to go through the process of resetting my password but i never got an email to do so. Not sure what to do but I’m disappointed in this app.
Good concept, not so good app
The dietbet concept itself is great. I’ve played several times and won most of my challenges. Yes, you actually do win money. It’s not enough to survive off. It depends on how many people in your group succeed and how many people bought in to the bet. System is decent for avoiding “cheating” and the communication between the staff of the app and the community is great. The only issue is the app itself really lacks some configuration and accessibility. Clicking on an “alert” doesn’t actually direct you to your alert. Leaving a page and trying to get back to an old comment is next to impossible. The design doesn’t work well for the forum/chat area. Otherwise, the main processes work fine just don’t expect Too much user friendliness from the application.

It’s a great way to help people get and stay motivated! The only thing I don’t like is that when you get a notification like when someone comments on something, when you click on the notification it just brings you to the message board and not the actual thing you wanted to see. But over all great app and service!

I like DietBet, it helps keep me motivated, but I think there are too many games floating around - it would be great if maybe some of the smaller games could amalgamate to make the pots bigger and more enticing to join!

Transferring funds without authorization
They did some update and arbitrarily decided to transfer my funds from WayBetter into DietBet, even though I had discontinued using the app so now I have to try to get my money out through PayPal to put back into WayBetter because they’re unable to reverse the transfer.
Freezes quite frequently
Freezes quite frequently. This is so frustrating.
Needs work
The app needs lots of work. While the game is great, it is awkward to navigate the app to the point that I avoid the discussions past the essentials. I am currently traveling, so the app is all that I have. At home, I only use it for weigh-ins.
Great for motivation
Great idea for bringing people with same goals together. However, the bugs in the app make it freeze quite often. Would be great if the developer could fix this

Scam
I participated in a challenge and won and never received the payout. None of the contestants received anything and the pit was $134,000. Even if you do “win” the payout can be less than what you put in because the host takes 25%. Not sure how losing money motivates people to lose weight.
Keeps me motivated
I enjoy DietBet it keeps me motivated. I have won multiple times and get a great high off knowing I bet on myself and succeeded!
App needs major improvement but game is great
I’m giving the app only a 2 rating because it needs some work and frankly I’m surprised that the designer hasn’t made the improvements. Wish you could tag people in your comments. Also, wish you could reply to someone else’s comments in someone else’s posts, much like Facebook. People are asking important questions and you can’t actually help them or message them, only “like” their comment. Not very helpful. Also, from iPhone, if you have a notification that someone has commented on your post, you click on the notification but it doesn’t take you to the comment but instead, the home page. Now I can’t see what someone has said. But you CAN get there from the website. Also, not sure what the point of adding Friends is. You can’t message them... what do you do with this feature? Please fix the app. Game is great and keeps you accountable and I love the camaraderie between players.
Great but.....
I really wish you should have the 3-month one as it will suit me very well. I'd feel a lot more motivated to long weight. Please add this on DietBet as I'd most definitely use it. Just 1 month isn't longer enough and 6 months way to long. Thanks.

Win but no earnings
This used to be such a good app and when there were a lot of players you would win money. Now with 3220 players I only won $3. Why bother? Don’t waste your time with dietbet
The idea and app functionality is great
The idea of diet bet is pretty genius and actually helps keep me on the right track knowing my money is on the line! The app is pretty good apart from me wishing it was a more intricate system with maybe forums and chat, etc... but maybe that is included in the paid membership? They should give more details on the benefits of being a paid member apart from just showcasing the prizes meant for paid members. Love it either way...
Crashes constantly
Love the DietBet program and the app looks good but I can’t use it for more than a minute without it crashing. Very frustrating

Whatever you try and do, it will just freeze so you have to force close it and keep trying. Makes it really annoying especially when weighing in

Shady app
The app takes 25% of the bet so you’ll likely win very little or even lose money. That’s if you even get the payout. I requested a payout several days ago and have yet to receive it. I’m supposedly supposed to receive an email “for security purposes” which I never received. Don’t trust it with your info.
Love the challenge
Great motivator! It really got me moving this month. Thought the app could do with a bit of a revamp but other than that I think it's fab!
