WayBetter Games help keep me Active!
One thing I really love about way better is the accountability to engage in healthy habits. It keeps me active and off the couch, and there are also nutrition and good habit challenges to support health and productivity. I have been consistently exercising, cooking, eating veggies, expressing gratitude, and decluttering my house through challenges (to name a few) - all things that help me develop good habits and keep promises to myself. I highly recommend waybetter to others who want to build and maintain healthy habits.
Hard to cancel
It's was a fun little app. But I've had a heck of a time getting my subscription canceled. I keep getting charged ($50 every 6 months for something I've not used). I've tried to cancel multiple times, I've sent emails, the whole 9 yards and no luck. They said I signed up thru Apple and nope not there. So I had to close my credit card account!!! Buyer beware.
Frustrating experience with syncing… but I’m back again 😂
EDIT: I have thought a lot about this and decided that I am going to re-subscribe. There really isn’t anything else like it that motivates me on a consistent basis. And, I was probably just salty that my app didn’t sync. That being said, I didn’t lose that challenge. I just had to workout an additional couple of days to get it. 💪 —— I’ve used WayBetter for a long time and really wanted to keep loving it, but the syncing issues have made the app too frustrating to stick with. Even when you do meet your challenge goals, you can still end up losing money if the app doesn’t sync your workout on the exact day — even when you have proof you completed it. The concept is great, but until the tracking becomes more reliable (and the exceptions more reasonable), it’s hard to recommend.
Payouts
I enjoy the app and the games really keep me motivated, but there is no reason that it should be taking a month to receive my payouts. As another user noted, you cannot request a second payout while one is pending (another thing that there is no reason for). Customer support provides no timelines for payouts. It is extremely frustrating
GREAT CHALLENGES & POOR PAYOUT POLICIES
I have been a user of WayBetter for a while now, and during the pandemic, these challenges were a truly enjoyable way to stay active and motivated. However, the recent shift in the payout process has turned what used to be a fun experience into a frustrating waiting game. THE PAYOUT DELAY ISSUE If you are expecting your earnings back anytime soon, you should probably lower your expectations. I have sent multiple requests, and while the customer service team provides prompt responses, they seem to be reading from a script rather than actually moving the money. The standard line they provide is: “Our goal is to issue payouts within 5-7 business days... However, with an increase in volume due to players crushing their New Year's Resolutions and an increase in payout requests, we are experiencing a delay.” While I appreciate the politeness, "crushing resolutions" shouldn't mean crushing the users' ability to access their own funds. Payouts are taking significantly longer than they ever have before, and the delay is occurring even after email confirmations are received. BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU (BBB) STATISTICS It appears I am not alone in this frustration. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), WayBetter, Inc., the statistics paint a concerning picture: 1) Total Complaints: There have been 36 complaints closed in the last 3 years, with a significant spike in the last 12 months. 2) Primary Grievances: The vast majority of these complaints are related to payout delays, account freezes, and difficulty withdrawing earned funds. 3) Pattern of Complaint: The BBB has even posted a Notice of Pattern of Complaints, noting that consumers frequently report that the company fails to process payout requests within their stated timeframes. SUMMARY WayBetter was once a great motivational tool, but it is currently struggling with severe payout delays. While the support team is responsive, their excuses don't put money in your account. Given the rising number of BBB complaints and the current rating regarding billing and payouts, proceed with caution if you expect to see your winnings in a timely manner.
Great motivation
Absolutely love this app!!! Really reliable! Never had any problems and I’ve seen great progress!
From good to bad!
-over 10 years been this site - went from good too very bad -support team seems like they care but -take months to get paid out — takes months!
Seems pretty good
I’m currently participating two challenges on this app, I like the concept in general. One annoying glitch I’ve found is that when I’m typing my caption to a photo post, the keyboard covers the ‘done/post’ button & I have to quit to be able to move from that screen. I’ve only been able to post captionless photos for this reason, which is a shame.
Used to love it
I’ve used WayBetter for years and used to love it, but something is off lately. Payouts used to consistently take a week to process and for the last few months it’s been significantly slower. Support won’t give an estimate of when you’ll get paid either, they blamed the holidays but now we are into February and it is only getting worse. Once you’ve requested a payout you can’t request a second one and to sign up for games you can only use existing credits rather than pay for them directly. The membership fee and game cost is way too high for payouts to take this long and feel insecure. I want to get the most out of the membership I already paid for, but can no longer recommend this app and I don’t plan to renew.
Okay, But There Are Better Options
I’ve been using this app along with HealthyWage and StepBet for years. Before some of these apps had member fees. While this all is good I have to admit the feature on some of the games where you need to take a screenshot is a pain and you have to make sure you do it before midnight you can’t submit after midnight. And the payouts aren’t great. The other apps have better payouts and you don’t have to deal with taking screenshots. Good app, but not the best. Especially for the member price. StepBet has better payouts and free games sometimes for members. HealthyWage has no membership fee.
Accountability
Having this app definitely gives you someone to report to and a goal to aim for in small increments to keep you moving forward.
Poor customer support, bad UX
Buyer beware. If you don’t explicitly login to the app and make sure you’re logged in, sometimes needing to close and restart a couple of times and/or login multiple times, the app will not register your activity. And even if you message them proving that you completed the activity to complete the challenge, if for some reason you don’t go through the gauntlet of opening and closing the app multiple times to assure it registers, then you cannot win. So if you’re a busy professional, working to get your activities in - in between a gajillion other things, like meetings and errands and you don’t jump through their app login hoops, but yet you have actually completed the activities AND jumped through the hoops 9 out of 10 times, yet miss logging in to this glitchy app, then you will not be able to win the challenge It is absurdly frustrating and BS. If you can prove you completed the activity, regardless of jumping through their hoops, you should be able to win. You pay them for the app, you complete the challenge. You should win the challenge. Period. There are other apps out there that don’t require you to log on and off and on again multiple times. They just beautifully sync with your trackers.
Fun games but terrible payout system
I really enjoyed the games and found that they really helped me keep my habits on track. The semi annual fee is pretty high compared to the money you win so don’t expect to come out with a big profit but it is worth it if you were already planning on paying for an app to help with weight loss. My only complaint is that the only way to cash out you money is to use PayPal or get a check delivered with an 8$ processing fee which is about 4 games worth of winnings. It would have been great if they had Venmo or zelle or a credit card payout option
Great when it works
I really like the concept and the motivation this app provides. My Fitbit doesn’t properly sync though. I am failing challenges when I shouldn’t be. That being said, I will still do challenges, just not ones that need to sync to different apps/devices.
Life Changing
I’ve used WayBetter for four months and it’s been a game changer for consistency. I’ve struggled with self-discipline and motivation; this gives me external accountability so I just follow through. I’m doing short workouts, daily walks, and self-care, and I read every day. My daily steps moved from ~5,000 to ~8,000 and the increases felt incremental and sustainable. Habits now feel normal instead of chores. The community is supportive without requiring constant interaction. The app doesn’t demand attention; it nudges me to do the thing and get on with my day. Pricing is fair: $65 for six months. I’m on track to make that fee back, plus a little extra in winnings.
Where’s my payout!?
It shouldn’t take almost 2 weeks to get payout. This is ridiculous. Update: it’s now been 3 weeks since I requested a payout ($40) with no deposits to PayPal. (But it can take “up to 30 days”) I can’t request another payout until this one processes. So, another month to wait!? I can pay $15 to have a check sent to me. 🙄 I want to be done but they’re holding my money hostage.
Fun - not fair fitness. BROKEN game tracker issue. DO NOT USE
I have used way better for over a year, and LOVED it. Unfortunately, they added in a tracker which doesn’t update to what’s actually happening in your games. For instance, this morning I woke up to find that I’d submitted something to a game for today even though I’d just logged on. I’ve given this feedback to their support team and nobody seems to care. They’re saying it’s because my up-to-date app on my up-to-date iOS is out of date and needs to be reinstalled. Please don’t use this app until they’ve resolved this issue. When they have, it’ll be the app you use every single day like I used to. UPDATE: The developers reached out to me and have since refunded me at least the amount I invested (not what I would have won if their app was working properly). I love WayBetter, but I’m afraid there are too many glitches that involve MY money to consider it safe to use right now.
Amazing!!!
Life-changing app!! Completely changed the way I look at exercise!
BUYER BEWARE
I have used this app for over 4 years. As if 2026, my experience is that they are not honoring their written rules and have kept earnings they should not have kept. Sad shift in policy that was not posted in the game rules.
Please fix notifications
I like the app, it’s helpful for consistency. But please fix the notifications so they’re accurate! I get a notification everyday, and usually it’s wrong - for a game I don’t need to do anything for. It’s really annoying and means the notifications are useless because I just always ignore them
The BEST app ever
I LOVE this app so much I asked if they were hiring!! It make’s life more exciting.
Scam!!!
This app is a scam! They had no problem, taking my money for a registration fee while removing all of my earnings due to”inactivity” don’t use!!!
Gave it a try
I signed up a nearly 6 months ago with the hoped to lose some weight and earn a little cash. I only put in an extra $10 but did do a 6 month subscription so roughly $80 into it. 6 months later I will cash out just about $90 earning from the app. So by logging in every day and completing 2-3 challenges a week I’m pretty much breaking even. I didn’t lose any weight. So overall I spent a lot of time on the app and not coming out much better on the other side but a lot of time put into it logging in every day. Worth it? Probably not. I’m not going to renew. Just felt like I wasted more time trying to make sure I wasn’t missing a day so I didn’t lose my money. I also submitted for my first payout of $20 last week and still haven’t gotten it through PayPal. Very long payout process.
Building consistency with my habits
Loving how consistent I am with my health goals when playing in WayBetter games! It has been such a game changer for me, and it’s fun too.
Feels scammy
At some point last year developers decided to balance or sync? WayBetter and DietBet accounts so without my knowledge they took my money from WayBetter and deposited it into DietBet, I was never able to get it back, still annoyed
Great idea but app has trouble loading frequently
It’s a fab idea to keep you motivated and focussed on your fitness plans. In fact I’ve recommended to loads of friends. But it’s so frustrating how many times it crashes when you’re trying to load it! Come on guys, with the membership fees I expect you to invest a bit more in some tech development!
Excellent Healthy Habit Builder
I’ve been a member for about 2 years and have had zero poor experiences. Joining games is fun and the bets make accountability more serious in a fun way. When I’ve had an issue with anything (which is rare), customer support is always kind and helpful. Game variety is fun depending on what habits you’re looking to build. User submitted games also add additional variety and definitely foster a bit of community too.
Won’t load
Just downloaded this app, was really excited to use it but it won’t even load…
Life Changing
Truly gamifying the health experience. It’s been the only thing that works for me in motivation long term.

Scam read the reviews!
While this app is a good concept, the refs are scammers and you read the reviews you will see that is consistent!! I wish Apple would hold THEM accountable and take the app down!
