I’ve been playing this game for over 10 years now and I’m still not bored. Such a unique form of gameplay that also requires strategy and forethought. I hope this game stays for a long time!
Ruined by bots
Used to be when you initiated a new game you’d be playing against a real person. Now it seems Letterpress uses player bots so you’re playing against a machine

Great game but occasional offensive ads. PupLabs ad shows a dying dog.
Faulty System
Playing against a bot works fine... except it's generally unfair because of their unlimited knowledge in vocab. Therefore, you'd have to play with real people to enjoy. However, when you try to play 1v1 with another person, the system does not start a "new" game. Ads pop up and distrupt play time as well, making it difficult to keep other players engaged as many don't want to wait long periods of time for their opponent to respond.

Is It Perfection Though?
I’ve played this game since paying $4.99 initial download price. I’ve loved playing the game and learn so many new words it’s hard to remember them all. The concept and layout is perfect and it doesn’t have as high of a brain drain as WFF in my opinion. Something fun to pick up and see your color dominate the board. I think Solobon should have a top 10 letterpress change forum or voting system to see what are the most requested features and share that on their website. Then implement that change to the app. I think that would encourage some newer players to stick around and legacy players something new to see. My top pick would be new theme color schemes!!
An Ad site masking as a Game.
Downloaded “game”, entered one single word and an ad popped up taking over the screen. It’s not a “ game” if it will not allow you to even begin to “play” it.

Surprisingly buggy for a game that costs that much
Meh
This could be a decent game if they cleaned it up and made some minor changes. First, it CONSTANTLY gets stuck between turns. The only way to continue is to reboot the app. Second, the bot players make up words, like vav, bx, and other nonsense. It played the word “zanja” once, which I looked up and learned is a Spanish word for “ditch,” most commonly used in South and Latin America. That would be fine, if we could all use uncommon words in other languages. Third, I don’t understand why you can’t change color themes or reshuffle the letters! It’s annoying when I’m struggling for a word, and I just want to rearrange the letters, but can’t. And looking at the same board all the time makes the game feel static. It’s still somewhat addictive, but if it keeps crashing, cheating and having the same boring look, I see it getting old, FAST.

Generally happy
I generally enjoy this game…playing daily with my mom and one friend. My friend is so brain heavy that he started games with me that must remain balanced (a mirror image across any line one chooses), which is a good extra challenge…others might wish to try. The advertisements became just Too much for me after many years and I finally paid for the app…what a relief!
Ad positioning
There was a recent update that included ad placement during gameplay. The ad now covers the bottom row of letters so you can’t tell if a letter is an O, C, G or Q, E or F, P or R.
Buggy
The 10/28 update introduced bugs. Others have reported some, but most annoying is that the shake-to-rearrange feature no longer works.
Best game
Of all games and all my years of playing (yes, I am old!), I always come back to Letter press. It is my absolute favorite game. It uses my brain, it's challenging yet relaxing and players are kind and respectful.

I didn’t even get one turn into my first game before a massive add started playing. Not even one game, just one turn .Ridiculous. I deleted it straight away. In reply to the dev response here. That’s what I said. I had only one turn after downloading and there was an ad. Ridiculous. Way to keep players - stop them after one turn.
Unfair Advantage
Quite annoying when the bot plays a “word” that is “valid for game play” but is not a real word. The person does not have the option. Otherwise, it’s a fun game.
Disappointed with ad tracking as a paid user.
I’ve been playing this for about a decade now and I’m very unhappy that you track us even after paying for the app.
Rest game lousy ads
Great game but you pay through the nose because of the deceptive ads the owners promote to get rich.

New Bug: Waiting Turn
There’s a new bug that started today where the app badge keeps showing 1 new turn for me. When I open the app, there is one game showing as “Your Turn (1)” but that game is waiting on the other player. Closing and re-opening the app doesn’t fix the bug condition. This has been happening all day. The new game badge never goes away even though the game showing as waiting on me is clearly waiting on the other player. Please fix this. Thanks!

My favorite game
Been playing for over 12 years now. A great strategy game wrapped in a word game. Without a doubt my favorite head to head game ever. My first goal of impending retirement is to make a weekly leaderboard.

While I understand the game and some of the strategy I just can’t get past the POP UP ADS after every other play or so. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I delete all games that require me to sit through some lame ad for another lame game that I will NOT download EVER. Seems the developers have gone the greed route. I understand wanting to make money on something but the continuous stream of blah blah blah ads that interrupts the game flow are RIDICULOUS. Sorry but not sticking around for this game…yes, it was somewhat challenging….just not a word game for me. I would rather have my fingernails pulled out than have to watch all the ads. THANKS BUT NO THANKS….BYE BYE.

Bots just don’t answer me when there’s no network. How come I can’t even play with bots when offline??? What can this game do for me when I don’t have network???
Best. Game. Ever.
I downloaded Letterpress in the before times — probably in its first year — and have played ever since with an old friend from the West Coast. I think, quite simply, it is one of the most perfect two person games ever. It taxes your vocabulary. It requires real strategy. It values foresight. And it tries your patience (oh the number of games I’ve lost because I got greedy and played one tile too many…). And, fundamentally, its design is classic, streamlined, and free of gimmicks. It’s like Scrabble meets Boggle meets Chess!
Illiterate Developers
First off, this game is exactly the same as most online chess games. You try your best and use your knowledge to come up with the best move you can. Meanwhile, somebody too pathetic to use their brain is on the other end using a cheat website and beats you every time. Also, as if the game wasn’t pointless enough, the developers either never went had an education or are using the absolute worst source for vocabulary. There are SO MANY “words” acceptable that are not even remotely actual words. I even tested it out by randomly making up a few words I thought they might accept and 60% of them WORKED! Get a dictionary.
Best played leaving one tile open
We always play with one tile open until someone can complete the entire board. Makes games last a lot longer.

Love the game, don’t like the dictionary. Allows both English and American spelling which is ok, but then allows words that even the chat dictionary doesn’t recognise and blocks lots of English words which should be acceptable.
Interesting n annoying
Got very interested after playing first few games, but now the game wont even start.. Very annoying.. Please fix it soon...

Updated to add that the more recent versions of this game have a lot of bugs - I have games I can't get rid of, games that I still have but my partner can't see, etc. I have a game I have tried to resign multiple times as it's stuck and I just can't get rid of it. Game count is off. Not sure what is going on.... An addicting game that can accommodate others schedules by allowing you to play a game with friends when each has time. I only gave it 4 stars because there appears to be a limit of 25 games at a time, and I find this frustrating because sometimes you are waiting for others to take their turn and want to start a new game!
