They help an interpreting company block interpreters from taking hours to eat or use the bathroom because they can't easily release their shifts on weekends, keeping them sitting around and making them sick.
Very User Friendly
Deputy is very user friendly. I cannot think of any areas that need improvement. I especially like the feature that allows staff to easily find other available staff members, that may be able to pick up my hours as needed. My only issue is that I am unable to make changes to my timecard once I have signed out. I am not able to add any additional comments or add mileage afterwards, unless I contact a member of management.
New update is awful
The interface is now ugly, its oval shapes cuts off text and it just looks really messy. The old version was formatted and UI was a lot cleaner to look at. New version reset everyone’s permissions so I’m unable to see all the people I work with and can swap shifts with only a select few people. Also it won’t work / let you clock in and out if you DONT turn ur location on… I think that’s stupid.
Location
I clock in at the same location every time I go to work. Several times the app has pinned me in a different location far from the site. Very frustrating and annoying!

Love it but I want to have discounts
Not the best
This app is ok with letting us see our shifts, and it’s nice to see the specifics, the schedule and who we’re gonna work with, and offer shifts to people. But this app is also super buggy. It’s always lagging and freezing, and takes forever to load half the information. On top of that, many of the addresses for shifts appear in random places on the map, even with the correct address on the shift information. If they fixed the bugs and freezing this would be a lot better.
Not able to update
I love this app. It helps me manage my work schedule. However, I’m unable to download the new update
Buffering and Leave.
In the last few days when I go to clock in the app just keeps buffering. When it does finally open I can’t submit annual leave time. Thanks.
Update?
I liked this app. My job uses it & it was working great but all of a sudden I can’t use it anymore because my iOS is outdated with the new update. I got my phone new around 2 years ago.

The newest version online and app is absolutely trash will tons of bugs and navigation issues. They took a good product and ruined it completely. Don’t waste the money with this product.

We use Deputy to schedule many employees at various locations! Would it be possible to add the “multiple location” option to the schedule in the app, same as is possible on the web version on the computer?
So many auto clock out issues!
Update; still issues I clock in and wait to see it actually clock me in and it shows my clock in time but then when I go to clock out for lunch it shows I didn’t clock in! Honestly the developers to fix these issues! It is COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE!! At least weekly the app automatically clocks me out but what’s bizarre is I clock out each night myself but when I got back in the next day to look at my time sheet it shows the app clocked me out and each time this happens it’s clocking my out a HOUR LATER THAN WHEN I CLOCKED IN!! I’m constantly checking the app for updates but this has been a constant issue for me! My employer is having to fix my time almost weekly! This is ridiculous!!!! And there is no help for this
Wish you could communicate with other employees on shift on the app , if you were to tap on name .

This app does not work
This app will not let me offer my shifts to anyone, I was told that I would be able to give shifts I cannot work to other freelancers and that feature has not worked correctly in the 1.5 years that I’ve had to use this terrible app. There also seems to be absolutely no one to speak to about this, I am repeatedly told by the app to speak with my supervisor but she doesn’t know anything about this app either and is also VERY BUSY managing many employees from many locations & this really seems like more of a tech support issue that should be addressed by someone that specifically works with this app. It should not matter if there are people to offer the shift to, just because this app cannot figure out how to list the other freelancers that could potentially take this shift does not change the fact that I CANNOT WORK THIS SHIFT. Pushing the button that says “cannot work” should actually tell someone that I cannot work this shift, but instead all it does is bring up a message box where I can send this shift to other people to see if they want it- but there is never anyone listed in this area, so it won’t let me finalize the “can’t work” action that I am trying to take, so now it just says i was “absent” even though I said ahead of time that I cannot work. I know I’m not the only freelancer in this area, but even if I were - if I push a button that says “I can’t work” it needs to tell some human person somewhere that I cannot work it should not matter if your stupid app can figure out who else to offer it to. This is absolutely INFURIATING
App functionality
The layout is great and easy to use. Although the app continually freezes and I have to constantly delete and redownload in order to use it.
Bring back the unscheduled shift!
With the newest update, I am no longer able to clock in and out of an unscheduled shift. We don’t create schedules ahead of time as work is on an as-needs basis, so this update is a huge bummer.
Worked well until
Worked well, helped greatly with keeping track of my shifts and requesting time off. that was until the app randomly stopped registering my shifts. I now am unably to view my shifts in Deputy and request leave.
Easy communication
I like how it notifies you before shift starts and it lets you know when to clock out. It’s also great tool for communicating PTO requests.
Stay away,save yourself some heartache
This is one of the worst scheduling apps I have ever used. It never works correctly. He has called me issues on jobs on multiple occasions. You’ll put the schedule in 1 AM to 1 PM. It’ll pop up on the employee side as 4am to 4pm.
Add widget for apple with clock out button?
Great app! What would make it even greater is if there was a widget I could add to my Home Screen for one tap clock in and out(and schedule preview?)
Unreliable
Deputy’s Zapier integration stopped working a week ago, and all of my company’s timesheet workflows are no longer functioning. There has been zero explanation or timeline for when this is going to be fixed. There is no live tech support and it has been 4 days since I received an update. This is costing our business many hours each day as we have to manually execute tasks we had relied on Deputy to trigger, and which they still advertise as functional integration options. I expected much more from a company of this size and we are now looking into alternative providers like Connecteam.
Always An Issue
I don’t mind Deputy for the most part, but I haven’t been able to view my timesheet in MONTHS because the page won’t load. (And I’ve deleted, reinstalled, and updated it already.) Can you please fix this, for the love of god. Because I hate not being able to verify my times every day. And it’s too difficult to get my timesheet daily from a superior. All of my staff ALSO can’t load their timesheet pages. Which honestly, to me, makes the app almost useless.

Trash
Won’t let you delete your account as an employee or stop receiving scheduling emails as long as the manager has you in the app. You can’t remove yourself, the manager has to do it, even if you no longer work there. Can claim shifts even while not employed
Upcoming shift bug
On the newest update with all upcoming shifts showing on the Home page there’s a bug where even after you start your current shift and end it. It’ll still show that finished shift on your home page even though it’s no longer in Upcoming shifts
Awful company, worse app
If you’re thinking about purchasing deputy for your company to keep track of things like a schedule, pto, or timesheets to export to payroll- save yourself the headache. You talk to three tiers of AI before ever getting an actual human with customer support. When you do get a human for tech support, their solution is always to submit a feature request, never an actual fix. I’ve used humanity in other hr roles and it’s so much better.
Won’t download
Not sure why but I’ve tried to download this app 100 times. Ve to urned off my vpn my internet security I’ve tried everything I know to do please help. My employer is using this app and I need it to work.
User friendly
My current jobs used this app. It’s incredibly user friendly and easy to navigate. I love how simple it is to find everything I need. The only things I’d like to see the app add would be. 1.) pay. A way to see your earnings at the rate which you get paid. IE: weekly or bi weekly. I just enjoy being able to see what I’ll be getting and able to budget out. 2.) a better messaging system. Other than that. The clock in and out works great. The timesheet is accurate and always up to date. My hours are easily readable and the reminders to clock in are nice. 9.5/10
Not great user experience
I don’t leave reviews so let this carry some weight. You can never add all your shifts, and if you start a shift that is outside of your scheduled shifts, say work from home time or adding in a meeting, it just nixes the next shift on your colander (in app, not the sync’s google calendar). This is frustrating and has lead to lateness by other employees who don’t sync there calendar or missing shifts from time to time. Plus managers are confused why you are not working your scheduled shifts that were sent to you... mostly fine for making schedules and balancing work for others, but user experience woe terrible. “When I Work” was a much better experience all around

Great communication app
Break Confirmation Buttons!!!
No matter what I do, it leaves my shift open until the next day and then I get a notice in the morning saying it was left open and automatically closed. You literally can’t complete your shift without sliding over the buttons, which have repeatedly changed color, style and format. Also, update notifications are not going out. But, I just updated it yesterday and it still didn’t register and left it open. Every time this happens I lose 1/2 hour off my shift. So frustrating!
No schedule widget
So this is the main app I view my schedule on, and the one widget option is only for managers. What about ordinary employees who just want there schedule for the day on their home screen? Please add 🙏💜 would make me happy.
Longtime User
I’ve been using Deputy for over 10 years across my multi-location business, and it has consistently proven to be one of the most reliable and affordable tools for managing my team. We use Deputy every single day — for scheduling, timesheets, the kiosk app, the news feed, and tasks. It’s become an essential part of how we run our stores. The task feature in particular has been a huge upgrade from sticky notes; we’ve built custom opening and closing checklists that keep each location organized and accountable. Communication is seamless, and Deputy has made it easy for our team to stay connected across multiple stores. The only challenge I’ve encountered is with the journal feature. Because I value transparency, I set up a “phantom location” so all my store managers could communicate together as equals. The trade-off is that their journals — whether praise or constructive feedback — are visible to one another. While I love the transparency for most communication, I believe notes about areas for improvement should remain private. Even with that small limitation, Deputy remains a five-star system. It’s powerful, easy to use, and cost-effective for a growing team. I can’t imagine running my business without it.
Sept 2025 Update
This new update was not ready for release. It has caused many problems for our company and employees. Reset employee permissions that had carefully and individually set has been a major headache. Please fix the bugs and test extensible before you make major changes again.

I receive emails daily on available work. When I go to the app, there’s nothing. I click on update through the app, and still nothing. I’ve updated my phone. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still nothing.
I have a problem
I don’t know if it was an update or what, but I can’t see my timesheets anymore. I can’t see the hours I’ve worked nor the days I’ve worked and that’s really a problem for me. I was linking so far until this.

I just updated the app and found out that the clock has disappeared. Instead, it displays my total working minutes/hours. This is really inconvenient for me because my work is time-sensitive. I need to see the clock in order to know when to clock in and out or start my breaks. Please bring back the clock in a future update. I really appreciate this. Thanks!

Slow as trash
It doesn’t load right away or refresh and with the recent update it takes even longer to open or to load shifts or available shifts or timesheet.. just disappointing
