I love being able to find back issues and recipes!
Could be great
I really wish this was a good app because I love the recipes and I’m getting frustrated with the website and all their ads despite subscribing for their subscription. Yet this app is a huge letdown with only access to the magazine really and a silly interface.
Access
I like the app, but it would be really nifty if access to the website or online recipe library could be included with subscription.
Digital version of the printed magazine
This app is a PDF copy of the printed magazine that I received in the mail. I could not figure out any links to the actual recipes that are in there and it does not give you access to the whole Bon Appetit website with all their other recipes. The app is useless if you already get the printed magazine
Need full screen mode
I like this magazine, but the reader app is not great. It wouldn’t take a whole lot to really make this a much better app. Can you simply just enable it where you can have a full screen mode or you don’t have a toolbar at the top or anything else to where you can focus just on the magazine.

I have to continually download editions because I get signed out. When I sign back in, I have to start the process all over again. I’ve done this more times than I care to count.
BA’s trends
Still love getting Bon Appétit, but I live in an area of these great United States where a sizable number of the ingredients used are unavailable. Sure, I can buy some of them online but that doesn’t always appeal or I get some weird item instead!
Not the magazine it once was
Issues get thinner and thinner. The magazine no longer includes recipes that home cooks can easily attempt. The ingredients are not always easy to find and the recipes are entertaining worthy. I enjoyed the magazine when it included real life entertaining tips and recipes.
Like the update but can’t see full recipe
The recent (2023) update is great! I like the interactive app better than the PDF style version. However there seems to be a bug with the recipe cards when the recipe extends beyond the screen. There no scroll bar or way to view the rest of the recipe. Please fix so we can actually cook from the magazine!
Updated app worthless
I’ve been a Bon Appétit subscriber since 1992. Loved the app until the last update which essentially turned the magazine into a PDF which can be read on an iPad - if you expand it to show about 20% of the page at a time or can read microscopic print. What’s the story on that? Bring back the features.

The user experience on this app is horrendous. I love Bon Appetit so much, but am so surprised at the lack of proper UX / UI design here. You have an incredible - legendary! - archive of recipes and they are nowhere to be found here! Surely a simple copy paste of the website is an MVP for a better app. Lift and shift! Let me help you, help us!
It’s the App
The app doesnt work as well as the recipes!
What’s with the banner across the top??
Have to move page up and down to see entire page in portrait. Why? The idea of the exercise is to feel like reading a magazine. This is dumb.
Format of digital issues
I would like it much more if you allowed for viewing in both portrait and landscape. You’re behind the technology.

Every recipe that I try is great and my partner love them. Love reading all of the recipes and growing my cooking knowledge!
A dud
I pay for a subscription and every time I log in I am told I don’t have an account and to call an 800 number. Who has time for that? I will have to keep using the site.
Food on point
Love most of the stories and recipes including photography. Although I wish the possibility to zoom in. Especially on editorials with very small fonts.
No overall recipe search
So far searches yield magazines. Their magazines are fabulous but when I’m searching it’s for a recipe not an issue.
The app is meh
The app is pretty bare bones which is fine considering I'm only using it for the content. scrolling up/down to get through pages would be nice.
Exceeding expectations! Fab app
I really love the Bon Appetit app. I cook a lot a really love the recipe index and the "step by step" instruction option. I may even discontinue my paper version if this online app keeps exceeding my expectations like it does now!
Most Frustrating App
Every time I’ve tried to log into this app it boots me out. I reset my password and then I can get in. I’ve given up on Bon Appetit. It was a great magazine but that’s fine downhill as well. I finally let my account expire - and won’t be coming back.
My Culinary Bible
I have learned so much from Bon Appétit over the 20 years I’ve subscribed. I tell my foodie friends to read it. I use it while travelling for meal ideas. Love it.
Type Size
Please update the app to allow for font size adjustment. I’m only 50, not wearing reading glasses for any other reading but this is ridiculously small. I have a large iPad and still can’t read it.
Good but a little buggy
It’s okay but as soon as you’re in a magazine, you can’t view the page index and the home button doesn’t show up on the top left. Kind of annoying but manageable I guess.

Love this app. I,m am a professional cook and bring my I pad every where. This app. Is easy to search and save favorited. The recipes are above the other mags. Love it.
Doesn’t Work!
I have a Bon Ap subscription, yet the app doesn’t recognize mine even after trying to link. Useless. Guess I have to use the website.
Ex Bon appetit lover
While I love the magazine and used to love this app, the continual pop ups asking me to subscribe (I already do) and/or buy the app (which I already have) make using the website almost impossible. If you click a link, the ad for the app appears...if you close it, the Bon appetit home page is virtually empty....just the headers appear but nothing else. Fix it. There are so many problems with the app, subscription services.

Terrible
I just spent $52 to get the app on line and the print edition. Both online and with the app it keeps asking me to buy a subscription again. Within the app, even though I’m signed in and it says success it won’t let me search for anything this is an absolute joke and a waste of money and I’m going to have to spend God knows how much time Conde Nast to figure out how they can fix it.
I can’t locate recipes I want.
Don’t like the vertical only format and definitely don’t like not being able to search for AP recipes by ingredients. I see a BA video link and not found a way to find the recipe in the AP. It’s basically a magazine. Even indexing is by page number! Who needs a page # in digital format? I want to find a recipe for several ingredients I have handy. New York Times Cooking is much better for searching recipes. DISAPPOINTED

Maniabilité fluide et beau design, Présentation chaleureuse, On s'y croirait presque, Les photos sont magnifiques, Je suis surtout fan de ce numéro consacré à Thanksgiving. Pour 1,70 € environ nous avons trois magazines ce mois ci! On verra comment se présenteront les autres numéros. Pour l'instant je suis contente de cette application de pro.
Won’t link print subscription
No matter how many times I log in with my correct subscription info. The app says it doesn’t exist. Useless!
Bring back the recipe index with images
In this iteration of the app, the most useful thing about it - the recipe index with clickable images that was formerly at the start of each issue in the app - no longer exists. That index was incredibly useful. It allowed me a to feel secure in recycling my paper copies of the magazine because I had an easily accessible soft copy of each recipe in the app. I would frequently peruse just the recipe indexes ahead of planning dinner parties. The static (unclickable) index without images that is at the end of each issue is nowhere near as useful. Please, please bring the clickable index with images back.
New app deletes Pasta Perfect app? If so, not cool.
I'm hesitant to update if it means I'll lose the Bon Appetit Pasta Perfect app. Can you confirm it'll still be on my iPad if I update? Amazingly the FAQ doesn't address the status of that app other than it'll disappear. I tried to ask more about it since the FAQ doesn't address it and goes to a dead link. Not good.

It is just a literal digital magazine
The only benefit over getting this opposed to the physical magazine is to cut down on waste. There are no benefits to digital over physical if you end up having to print the recipe anyway.
Not optimized for iPhone
An awful experience. Do better.
New issues are delayed
New issues become available way after they are available on newsstands, which makes no sense. I regret doing the online subscription.
