User friendly, fast loading
This is the best airplane app. It gives you all the information about airports, easy to access itinerary and other travel options. Pages load fast and quick access to connecting online.
Fees and class system
United treats any basic economy ticket as a second class citizen. When there is the same room for a carry on bag on the plane as there always has been. No matter what this ticket can not take it on the plane??? Just because there ticket was the cheapest available? And then split up families or pay more. Pay for you seat on top of an airline ticket. And all the ridiculous money to buy water bc we can’t bring water in the airport anymore. For reasons that no one can truly explain except a communist agenda for control. United has shown its true colors. Definitely not an American owned or run company.
Needs a dark mode, does not stay signed in!
Great app, however if the device is in dark mode, app needs to have a dark mode setting. The white background is too bright and hard for eyes to adjust. Also the sign-in process needs to stay signed in app requires a sign-in with mileage plus number and password every time. Face or Touch recognition is enabled and should be sufficient to not have to provide password every time. That’s the whole point of Face or Touch ID! Please advise.
Jamming up
I thought it was just me, but the information would be added, and I was asked to repeat myself numerous times via chat

Why is it that when we are already logged into our account, halfway through, you make us login again, especially when checking bags are making any changes to the reservation. I think that is a totally unnecessary step. Please fix this glitch.

Works but glitchy
App works, but is really frustrating for international travellers. Enter hotel information, etc in Travel Ready Centre and then have to enter it all again at check-in. It should just be entered once per booking confirmation.
Too long to Check-in
While I usually enjoy the in-flight experience, I left frustrated with the check-in process! Totally unnecessary to require my card information to check-in!
Never without a bug
Why is United’s app so unreliable? Always, always buggy, update after update. Constantly freezing, have to close it out and restart it over and over again. About 50% reliable.

The user experience checking in online is atrocious. Too many steps to complete and now requires a credit card be on file even if you are not checking a bag.

Food options should be extensive. For this trip there so much dairy and chilies added to the choices of food. I have sensitivity to both

Overcharging your long time customers
I find tickets yesterday for tomorrow to ORD one way for first class at just over 1 thousand available to anyone with no status on your web site, yet you wanted to charge a customer with status over 2000 just to change an existing ticket??? Absolutely no value in being a long term client of United

App won’t update in calendar
I’m trying to use the add to calendar feature in the app and it does not update my calendar on my iPhone.
Worst mileage program
The mileage program is awful. It frequently doesn’t add completed trip, and calling customer service is even worse.
Accommodating
We had a trip planned for a family wedding and the unthinkable happened and a beloved family member passed and we had to cancel the tickets. Once we got all the funeral arrangements completed then realized that we could fly down for the wedding and then they can fly down for the funeral we needed to get our tickets back. United representative named Ace will leave his last name off since I did not ask him to use it but was so very helpful in getting us credit for our old tickets and getting us set up with new tickets over the phone. Of course it did cost more and had to pay the difference but the process was so much easier with Ace. Thank you United for your awesome employees!!!!
Worst airline app
The worst airline once I try to check in it took me at least two days to just finally checked in from my phone And every time I make it to secure it T it at least took me three times to at least go through security And finally, I made it to my gate and my flight was delayed and I had to wait two hours to finally go on the airplane once I made it to my seat the seat was very uncomfortable. By the way they gave me a wipe so too change wipe my seat, but it was extremely dirty under my seat, smell like farts worst of all there was a huge crack in my window seat landing was very hard and take off felt like we were going to crash and flight attendant extremely rude. They only gave me one cup of water they only let me get one not two. I was very thirsty by the time we land I was so finally we get off. I hate this airline 100% do not fly United.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Used to be exceptional. Now getting glitchy. Trying to change a flight to a different time/day or itinerary gets messy - takes you to a web page and asks you to log on again in a continuous loop sometimes. Also feels like product managers want to make change for the sake of change. Fix the broken bits and leave the rest!!!
Payment option failure
The app works great until I want to use my Canadian credit card to pay for an upgrade. There is no option to add a Canadian province in the State/Province field of the billing address section, so the system won’t let me enter my credit card. Very frustrating. I tried to use Apple Pay, but it’s only available to people with US billing addresses. Very frustrating.

Mileage
Signed in to United app but can’t seem to get the mileage for my flights. Tried to customer service but have had no luck getting the problem fixed so that it doesn’t happen on subsequent flights.

The united app kept flipping me back to the check in page even though I’d filled everything I needed to fill.

Of the Airlines apps I have occasion to use , United is the best. I often find the info I need quickly and the reservation and checkin process is quite easy.
Checking in with Visa
I had uploaded my China Visa when I went to check in it showed a picture of my Chinese visa, but it wanted me to upload another one in order to check in. Why is that?

During check-in on the app, when I decided not to enter my credit card for contactless inflight payment, it kicked me out and I had to start check-in process all over again
giving 5 for algorithm

checked bag payment for canadians
app would not let me pay for checked bags early as a canadian. i had to wait until check in and subsequently miss out on the discount for paying early. apart from that great app.
The best
Their interaction between their online website and the United app is phenomenal and effortless. They reach out and contact is relevant and helpful. It is the best of the airlines in this regard!

They force you provide a credit card to check in and if you are checking in a bag, don’t get confused with the bag take on flight. Terrible explanation

Everything worked really well however it didn’t ask for my wife’s passport, and I was unable to put our check baggage in as it kept on coming up with sorry something went wrong.
State or Province
Could only select state. No option for Canada or any of its provinces or territories. I didn’t get added benefits but United missed out on a sale. I saved some money and endured the rigours of air travel.
Bugs that Need Fixing
Was unable to add a checked bag because I couldn’t enter in my accurate Canadian billing address. Although province & postal code fields were shown, the were no provinces listed on the drop down & you could only input numerical text in the postal code fields
