Fab app
I have been using the Komoot app for 3 months now. It’s helping me greatly with my prep for a 50m charity ride. Route discovery, turn-by-turn navigation, ride tracking, offline maps are all amazing features that I rely on. Highly recommend this app. Don’t think I found a better app. Have tried a few in the initial days.
Useless
I’ve spent hours now trying to get a route I planned on my desktop to my igsport GPS. I’ve had to log out, log in, log out, do the hokey kokey . Synchronise Komoot on the phone with igsport on the phone. I think I’ve somehow ended up with two accounts because the one on my desktop has three saved routes, but the one on the phone has only one. They use the same email address and password (I know this because it’s Apple’s password app that’s filling them both in) Can I get the route onto my GPS? No I’ve now been sat at the desk for the whole two hours I could have been cycling. What’s the point of planning software you can’t get to talk to the navigation device. Completely useless.
Update made it worse
Ive been using Komoot to plan rides for years, having purchased the worlds maps a number of years ago. I always found it easy to use, especially on my iphone, unlike Strava Subscription, which requires desktop mode to properly plan. Unfortunately, the recent massive update of the app has made it harder to plan routes. My other longstanding gripe is that most routes I plan grossly underestimate the amount of climbing involved. This could catch out inexperienced riders. Komoot, if you could iron out these issues, your app would be 5 star.
Cluttered UI, doesn’t work offline
The app is feature rich, but unfortunately has a cluttered UI. And, which is a dealbreaker for me absolutely doesn’t work without the internet connection. Whether you pay or not, have the maps downloaded or not - doesn’t matter because it needs internet connection to load the app itself. Which makes the app useless when actually hiking:(
Es war einmal…
Eigentlich eine schöne App, die vor ein paar Jahren noch damit geworben hat, dass man für 39,95 € die ganze Welt wandern kann und das permanent. Jetzt wird man permanent bei jedem Start mit Abo gelockt. Das nervt.
Best outdoors app
Hands down best app for planning routes for hiking, walking, cycling. You get plenty of use out of the free version and when going on holiday I happily pay for a week of premium to download routes offline (when you first download the app you get one region free for life so you can use the download maps there for free forever!). You can filter routes to start at a train station, have them loop, filter by terrain (very useful for cycling) and so much more. I love it so much and recommend it to all my outdoorsy friends!
Cycle routes that make you walk through rivers
I downloaded and paid for komoot for a cycle ride loop in Italy. The route it suggested forced me down private roads with livestock and dogs, only to leave me by the river to an imaginary bridge! I then had to walk through the river (knee high) with my bike to avoid having to go back up to the livestock and dogs. I was on my own and very scared. I trusted this app would have some checks built in to the routes, I won’t be using this again.

This app is UX disaster
When you open the app, the first thing the app shows you is completely useless information with challenges and updates from random people. The primary thing I use the app for is navigation and route planning, why not show me that first? If I have an e-bike, why do I have to select that option every single time I plan a route? Why not just ask me what I prefer and make that the default? How come route planning and biking navigation is two separate functions? Why not integrate them both? Or at least do a better job of blending the two features together in a not so clunky way. The hard product is fine and I can appreciate the actual maps and navigation is good, but I don’t understand many of the design decisions here. The app can has a lot to improve with practicality and efficiency.
Constant interruption
The app is constantly interrupted by a prompt demanding that you pay money, that is only dismissible after a few seconds. I don’t mind being asked once or twice, but using the app for a few minutes shows this blocking pop up at least 5 times. It seriously hurts the usability of the app.
Top Nav App
This is the best navigational app I’ve used. The Premium option pushes it into sublime status. The multi day tour option and the weather predicting are such useful additions.

Es ist eine wunderbare App, schade finde ich nur wenn eine Tour aufgezeichnet wird, man diese am Ende nicht beendet und dann die Strecken, die nicht mehr mit der Tour zusammen hängen , nicht bearbeitet werden können. Bei mir war es eine Autofahrt, die per km voll einberechnet wurde. Ich kann sie leider nicht mehr herausnehmen
Ok, but serious flaw where it matters most
You cannot add or change a route in offline mode - this handicaps the app for no apparent reason (and none is given in the app). I paid for an offline map and I am expecting full app functionality. In the outdoors, especially the mountains, internet connections are frequently patchy or non-existent whilst the ability to (re)plan as weather conditions or circumstances change remains absolutely crucial. The design decision to link any planning to an internet connection therefore is a serious flaw. And there’s no warning of this limitation before purchase, only to be discovered in the situation. Not just very annoying as it leaves you stranded but potentially dangerous too.
In Italien bedingt einsetzbar
Ich war eine Woche in Italien unterwegs, vom Brenner bis Rom. Die von Komoot gewählten Routen waren oft mit Umwegen verbunden, und für Tourenfahrten ungeeignet, ja sogar (Lebens-)gefährlich!!
Excellent application
I have been using the basic version of the application for over a year now. Bought the world map option. I use it to record all cycling and hiking. Also to plan cycle routes. Very happy with its performance.
Dangerous in Kent, UK
Suicidal cycle routing through 4-lane A roads and congested A21 dual carriageway roundabouts - there are so many quiet lanes in Kent and it made a beeline for the most dangerous roads in the area. Then took ages to end the route as you have to fill in multiple social media forms and then it made a duplicate workout in Apple Health because the watch app doesn’t sync with the phone one. Very disappointing.
Gut, aber nicht perfekt
Ich benutze die App für meine Laufeinheiten, da ich auch gerne mal neue Strecken laufen. Allerdings passiert es leider häufiger, dass man mitten im Wald steht und der Weg nicht mehr „existiert“ (zugewachsen, Zaun im Weg), Wege also nicht mehr begehbar sind. Wenn ich dann einen anderen Weg laufe, sucht Komoot leider keine alternative Route sondern versucht einen immer wieder an diesen Punkt zu führen. Wenn man die Strecke die man läuft nicht kennt, ist das sehr ungünstig. Da man teils erst nach kilometerweitem Umweg merkt, dass man im Kreis gelaufen ist. Es sollte doch möglich sein, wie bei einem herkömmlichen Navigationssystem auch, dass einfach eine alternative Route gesucht wird, auch bei vorgeplanten Routen…

An sich gute App, tolle Ideen für Routen, allerdings auch teils absurde Umwege von mehreren Kilometern, weshalb man sich nicht blind darauf verlassen sollte. Die Menge an Werbung ist seit der Übernahme durch die Heuschrecke jedenfalls eine Frechheit.

Gute Wanderapp mit ein paar Schwächen
App ist bei Naviführung top. Für die Suche nutze ich aber lieber das Internet und geh dann auf die App. Leider funktioniert seit einem Update die Anfahrt nicht mehr. Sie findet auf dem IPhone leider die Navigationsapp nicht mehr.

The recent updates have essentially ruined a great app. Too many glitches makes route planning impossible
Immer schlechtere Bedienung
Die Bedienung wird immer schlechter und die Werbung immer aufdringlicher. Trotz gekaufter Version! Alle früher heruntergeladenen Regionen sind gelöscht und müssen neu geladen werden. Offline-Touren von früher sind ebenfalls einfach weg… So wird das nichts !
Love This App
Absolutely amazing for finding mtb’ing routes
What happened???
The latest version is piss-poor compared to the old one. If you want to edit a route via the mobile app, forget it… it’s easier to start again. Cumbersome, frustrating, and unnecessary complicated. The old version was clean, a little basic, but FUNCTIONAL. Thank god they haven’t messed with the website (yet).
Viel zu viele Updates
Nach jedem Update muss man ja erst wieder alles überprüfen, in der Regel auch Käufe wiederherstellen etc. Während einer Tour auf jeden Fall cool bleiben und so lange nichts wirklich brennendes vorliegt, auf ein Update verzichten.
New update by new owners.
The application’s new graphics have dramatically deteriorated to the point of being impossible to use the app. I have been using the original app for over 5 years and loved it. Right now this app is rapidly becoming useless while trying to squeeze money from you for everything. I have almost 200 routes saved on it, shame I will have to say bye to it. I hope they will soon see sense and bring back the original layouts and graphics which were so much better. Otherwise they will lose the 300 milion euros they paid for it last year.
Good software, too aggressive at upselling
This is good software for loading a .gpx file and unlike most every other app it offers offline usage for a one time purchase instead of a subscription. But it’s too aggressive trying to upsell you on the subscription. For example I tried importing a .gpx file and the import flow failed … why? Because the app was showing a subscription upsell modal which interrupted the import flow.
Really useful hiking app
Had many years of use with this app, and it has never led me wrong. I would always recommend saving your route offline before starting as you never know how much coverage you will have in the mountains. Highly recommended

So good, lots of routes, great variety and well organised so planning is simple, efficient and effective meaning more time on my bike squeezing in short rides or day long tours.
Easily the most annoying app
I have bought and been using the app for the last 2 years more or less. Prons: when you use it for famous, well documented paths and strictly do as the app says, then it’s kind of ok. Cons: 1. The constant “restore purchase” message. I have to manually restore my purchase every single time and the app is asking to buy it again. Very annoying 2. Do not dare to change direction or alter anything on a hike. It will keep telling you to go the other way or not be able to caption things properly. It has a single cell for mind and that’s what you should follow. Otherwise it just keep screaming to change direction etc. 3. The paths that it suggest multiple times don’t exist or are much harder than described. Exposed paths, non existent paths and many other things have happened to me with hikes I found in the app. 4. The review system is designed not to allow you actually review a path but only review it for the algorithms sake. Multiple times I wanted to let other hikers know of the path conditions, difficulty and dangers and never had the chance. Overall it’s a really bad, deeply frustrating app with lots of misleading information. I hate it and regret buying it.
Painful to use
Tried to use this for a three week cycle tour in Sweden, found it distracting (any small divergence from the route and it batters you to death with alerts) and a battery drain (even after turning notifications off). Why when I want to start a ride do I have to scroll through recommended rides and news updates? OSMaps with the cycle option and Brouter.de are a much more enjoyable replacement - show where you are, and where you need to go, with no distractions and minimal battery use.

What have you done to the app 🫤?!
Used to be fairly easy to use; now all intuitive use is gone. You need a degree to work out how to create a multi-stop cycling tour, even within just a city. What a crushing disappointment and frustration! Map tapping to add waypoint doesn’t work either in safari or the app. Waypoints can only be set with exact know location details. Once several waypoints have been set, summary only shows the one that happened to be a named landmark…… I could list more like no proper instructions in the app. Thank goodness for AI that could at least guide through some basic steps and discover hidden taskbars. The unresponsive map is definitely the biggest loss! Won’t return in a hurry!
Komoot
Used Komoot for a tour from Avignon to Girona. It didn’t put a foot wrong all the way and lead us down some fantastic rural roads. Touring has never been easier. I wouldn’t be without it now.
Your route is being adjusted, make a U Turn
It’s hard to believe the developers have tested and approved this application. I tested it today and have the following critique. 1. As The route planning doesn’t differentiate between footpaths and bridleways you can plan a route only to find some of it isn’t permitted by bike. Why wouldn’t you correct this or give a bike permissible route feature? 2. When navigating it doesn’t give consistent way finding cues. 3. If you need to adapt your route on the fly the systems keeps chirping - Adjusting your route….make a U Turn! It keeps repeating this message which indicates that it clearly isn’t adjusting the route as a normal sat nav would do. 4. If you’re riding on the road parallel to the cycle path it gets confused and says Turn left, then turn right, then turn left, then turn right. 5. Sometimes the cues are too early or too late. There is no affirmation of a correct turn or an incorrect turn. Overall the route planning is inadequate if you’re doing off road routes. The inability of the app to re-route you via the nearest permissible route makes it total impractical as you have to stop and keep checking where you are against the planned route. Definitely not worth the subscription fee. Avoid.
Poorly thought out
I just wanted to initially plan my route for my travels next week so from a different location. This app cannot do that. It just keeps mapping me from home. Not everyone wants to hike from their front door. UPDATE: I have now used this app for a week tracking across Wiltshire and Somerset. It could be better. It doesn't feel like an App developed like walkers and there are essential things that don't work. The ability to report wrong routing does not work. The ability to simply generate a loop walk so you end up where you started is not available. It's just not that intuitive for the cost of it.

Crashing on garmin
This app used to work well but lately it consistently crashes multiple times mid-hike on my Garmin watch.
Don’t spend your money
I needed a simple route planner for my custom rides. I don’t want to share the routes with anyone else. It’s a pain to go into settings to make everything private. Privacy should be the default since I’d rather my address (starting point) NOT be shared with everyone. When making rides that start and end at the same point, this app has a stroke if the custom waypoints cross previous sections of the route. If I’m selecting, let’s say, waypoint 9 of my ride, and I try to cross an earlier section in the path, it’ll keep resetting the waypoint to 1 and mess up the entire route. It’s a pain to have to go into the trip settings and drag what was supposed to be waypoint 9 from the #1 spot to the #9 spot where it’s supposed to be. I like there’s an option to set waypoints to go off grid, but once again, the app is very finicky when setting these waypoints, and it’ll often mess up the numbering sequence. I’d be willing to pay money for the premium plan, but your app can’t even set simple waypoints in order from start to finish without messing up. I don’t want it to automatically try to shorten the route. I want to go where I tell it to. Such a simple thing. I will be looking at other apps.
3D in route planning is a must
This app would be better if you can view 3-D mode while planning a route, like all the other rest of the route planning apps do… so it is easier to check elevation, I'm sure this will make the next update I hope
