Surprised there’s not recent reviews
I’ve been using this app for several years, for the editing format and the other main reason is the quality of the video with the live lut overlay. Even back when I had an iPhone 8, I noticed that this app takes very good advantage of the camera hardware, squeezing out detail and quality that I found hard to obtain, even with other apps. The live overlay is also extremely high quality. I guess that summarizes what I like about this app. it’s simple. it doesn’t do a lot. but what it does, it does in extremely great detail as far as the image quality goes. anyway. I figured I’d leave a review since I’ve been using it for so long now. I’m surprised that this app didn’t become more popular tbh, but then again, I don’t think that was ever really the main goal for this one. I think it’s awesome. Cheers.
Keeps crashing.
Can’t believe I spent money on an app that crashes when I try to access the camera.
Great app. Need some improvements
1. Please make REC button sound mute than iPhone in vibro mode 2. Switching between zoom lenses 0.5x1x2 take about a second or two! Need to be faster. 3. Any chance to apply colour filter to video after filmed? 4. Add flip to front camera? Overall great idea, need app for fast vlogging. If you can improve that - 5stars! Thanks.
Need Help
Please can this app have dual viewing when shooting. I have an iPhone and would like to flip the camera around to see. Also is there a Manual I can look at.
Great app, despite bugs
Has been one of my favorite apps for a while now. Hopefully they fix the bugs for iPhone 16 and up, not able to reorder and add clips to new sequences without the delete icon popping up. I am bummed because on my old iPhone 14 it had better quality exports. Now on the 16 it renders low resolution when zooming in. It’s not 4K. Also usually when you drag a clip to a new sequence, it’ll shift over to the sequence you want the clip to be a part of, but that doesn’t work with newer iPhones.
An App I Cannot Live Without
A close friend recommended NIZO to me about two years back. This app has been perfected for both beginners interested in working in film and professionals. Each feature and editing tool is exceptional, easy to navigate and the format of the app makes the process seamless. I’m still in disbelief NIZO has the capability to produce this quality of work from an iPhone’s camera lens!

Really good app. I’ve used others, but they’re really basic and buggy. Then you get Nizo! I’m no professional videographer, but this app is easy to use and it’s features are really sexy. Looking forward to creating memories through this lens.

Nice app but could be better
This is a nice little app but here are some current frustrations / suggestions for future updates 1. Pressing the phone volume up/down buttons should start/stop video recording just like in the native iOS video app. It blows my mind that you released a video app without this functionality. 2. The filter preset names are obscure and make no sense whatsoever, if they’re modeled after real film, add some description or more descriptive filter names. 3. Some of the short films included in the app as inspiration, contain titles and text... however this functionality is missing from the app. Kindly implement this feature or if you won’t implement it, don’t show videos inside the app that are impossible to create with the app. 4. There seems to be a bug with auto brightness adjustment while shooting video. On a cloudy day overcast day, when shooting video with the native iOS photo app, pointing the camera from the ground up to the overcast sky adjusts the brightness automatically, so the highlights in the clouds don’t get blown out. Doing the same in the NIZO app, is horrible. Pointing the phone at the white sky on an overcast day completely blows out the highlights and I need to manually tap the screen to trigger the brightness adjustment. The native camera app can do this automatically, who can’t NIZO? 5. I want to be able to import video into the app so I can use the filters inside the app on video I shot in the native camera app. 6. I want to be able to shoot video at 60 frames per second, or at the very least 30 frames a second, however this functionality seems to be missing at the moment. That’s all the suggestions for now. Other than that, it’s a nice little app, thanks for making it!

Easy to use, beautiful filter
I love the simplicity of Nizo, minimalist interface, beautiful filter. I wish the filter can he applied in post but other than that I enjoy it.
Film High Quality Videos on Your iPhone
I first heard of Nizo after one of my favorite musicians, Jack Ladder appeared in a music video via this amazing app. Nizo is user friendly and I’m not a professional filmmaker, but the app allows me to create clear videos on my iPhone. I tend to film most of what I cook so guess what’s next for me and Nizo?

UI navigation ... what navigation! Can you even figure how to exit without having to turn off my phone.

Some problems
Overall I have enjoyed the app I like the filters I like the design of the interface. I have some issues with the frame rates. It would be nice to have at 1080p 60 frames per second because the iPhone X I’m using is capable of that but only in the default camera app or other apps. My goal is to shoot 60 frames per second for a project that I have. So I opted for the 4K at 60 frames per second setting in the app. But the playback on those clips that I recorded are in slow motion. Maybe they can be sped up in post but I still want to use the app to do the editing as the functionality for quick editing is pretty enjoyable.

Won’t let me add music
It says it won’t let me add any type of music with Apple Music. It is quite frustrating Becuase I enjoy this app but I can’t use any footage Becuase I’m unable to add any sounds.

My favorite app currently on my iPhone/iPad. Shot plenty of travel videos with it, and they’ve all been perfect. However, I recently shot an entire trip in 4K 60fps, which plays back in slowmo, is there a way to bring the speed back to normal?

Easy; Seriously Convenient
Nizo is definitely one of the apps that needs to be in any video hobbyists arsenal. Very elegant and easy to use, it shows that a video editor doesn’t have to be as complicated as they usually are. Looking forward to updates of the app that I know will make this an even more formidable tool. People behind this project are very responsive on the support side, which is always a plus when one seeks questions answered, and that just makes this product an even better purchase decision than most of its rivals. If there are any.

Great concept and idea behind this app as you go shoot and edit all in one platform. Unfortunately the app crashes all the time when filming and exporting.
Somewhat frustrating
Aesthetically, this is beautiful. I had high hopes for this to replace all my other video apps. I would really like to see a few things added. 1. Remove the demo videos that are pre-loaded. While they are inspirational they don’t serve a purpose that is of much value. 2. Please add the ability to import footage from your camera roll. I would like to be able to mix in second angles and b-roll from other cameras. 3. The user experience is pretty simple, but to the point of frustration. It goes into landscape mode, but I have no idea how to exit out of the app. 4. It would be great if they offered filter packs similar to VSCO app.
Innovative and Inspiring!
Nizo has become my favourite filmmaking app. It’s so easy to use, the films are expertly curated, and the design is outstanding. The app is a radical step forward not just in film creation but in surfacing new and exciting artists. The design is beautiful, interactions are intuitive and responsive, yet these details feel invisible, allowing your film to have the spotlight. It’s the first filmmaking tool that’s innovated and it’s changed the way I make films. I also commended the creators for their efforts supporting artists. I highly recommended Nizo to anyone either pursuing filmmaking or enjoys the observation of different ideas and styles.
Disappointing
You can’t zoom while you shoot. You can flip to selfie video shooting. You cannot limit added audio to just one section of film. You cannot detach audio. Basically this has been a waste of money. I wish I could have my money back. Wishful thinking.
Distilled Visionaries
The Nizo app minimizes the editing-focused mentality of modern creation. With its minimal feature set, aided by an inability to edit filters in hindsight; creators are forced to, or perhaps unencumbered by excess they are free to, focus on their vision ... prophetically. But there is a point where such minimalism can get in the way. 1. Muting the phone’s ringer leaves viewers watching silent films. The ability to enable the sound by pressing the physical volume up or down, like the many apps that came before, would be helpful. 2. The current inability to use external clips via the Camera Roll, Files, and / or Voice Notes might be essential. But if added creators would still be enhanced by an elegantly minimal creation experience, allowing focus on their end vision. It’d give way to wider appeal, a visionary creation app for semi-purists / minimalists. 3. The inability to see creator’s works via profile / username, leaves viewers unable to discover creations beyond featured works. One can’t even see more of the featured artists’ Nizo specific work. — I could see something like this becoming the standard / go to app for visual creators (especially if an iPad version is released). It would be a nice contrast against apps like LumaFusion or Premiere. But that is possibly beyond the scope / intention. Perhaps, it’s intended to be a niche app meant to be used rarely, and forgotten. Not intended to be harsh, what Nizo has done, was done well, beautifully. I genuinely look forward to seeing how things develop.
Nice video app, disappointing content
The video creation portion of the app is well done, easy enough to use, nice minimal design. However there is a content section and it appears that the developers have preloaded it with fashion/art content that exclusively features young women. One video is topless even, and it just feels very unnecessary and insensitive to put that content in front of every user. Am I to expect that this app is just meant for the creation and consumption of this kind of video content? I understand that it's art, but this feels like the work of a bunch of men. Come on guys.
Dope concept (VISQ)
As with any new program, Nizo challenges you to learn non-linear editing as if you were cutting frames. After a few takes, you can seamlessly begin to understand the program. It comes with a set of presets and ability to add audio to different “frames of takes”. Of course, it’s not without faults. It’s not perfect but there is ton of room for it to grow. Once they update and add more transitions, color grading abilities and other feature that desktop applications have, it’ll be a wonderful tool for young filmmakers who have a smart phone; to be able to Starr shooting ideas they have.

Simplicity brings out creativity
This app is swell. As a photographer and videographer, I seem to be so focused on the camera settings and every detail that I sometimes loose the overall storyline. This app brings out creativity because you do not have to worry about a production. It allows the videographer to shoot and portray the story without complications.

minimal but powerful
I have tried a lot of video apps but Nizo has become my favorite. it has just enough filters for options to create the desired mood without triggering "filter overload" and recording in 24 FPS adds to the cinematic feel of the recordings. the app is minimal but has the controls you need. It allows you to concentrate on what you are filming and not the app interface. in short, the app has the ease of a point and shoot camera with the ability to change filters with a flick of the finger. great job
Nothing special
Theres no way to flip the camera, no voice over record, very limited and ugly filters, many free apps have super cinematic filters, this app has the most ugliest cine filters, u can’t lock the white balance so ur shots will lock deferent because of white balance changes.
Excellent, Surprisingly Usable
Absolutely elegant and intuitive. Shoot, keep shooting, edit via drag and drop. Sweet. Not many extra iMovie-like features, of course, but features are not the point. Quick shoot and edit. Well done. Negatives, not much, but a few more features would be nice. 😁
Fun, but now the quality I expect.
Was really into it, then saw a lot of banding in my footage. Glad I got the 256 xs max bc it saves all the clips for to be edited and exported. App was 60 gigs after 30 mins of shooting.
