Words
Fun but upgrade the words in Test Your Vocabulary
Malware-looking “ad”
At least I hope it was just an ad but it looked like a hack attempt. I thankfully clicked nothing, closed the app and deleted it immediately. Inexcusable for what should be a safe and reputable app.
Medical use
I would like medical suffixes, prefixes, and root words added if possible. Otherwise it’s incredibly useful for work.
How do I make the book stop flying?
I dont know man but it flys
Upgrade
It’s hilarious to think they want to charge you for a dictionary when the Google app exists. Free version is acceptable but popups are annoying. I also have a dozen physical dictionaries with zero popups.
Better than most free apps
Very few ads. Functions as it should. Is very useful and helpful. Has a word of the day widget. Very good basic dictionary app. I was tired of downloading "word of the day apps" that were less word of the day and more lesson based, daily challenge game apps which forced you to pay for them just to get any actual use out of them, and they weren't even what they advertised to be. I love this app so far. Keep being awesome!
Problem
Why can’t I download this dictionary
Great dictionary; terrible ads
I love this app and use it throughout my week. Merriam-Webster is the standard and I grew up in a household where mouths would clamp shut and fingers would point to a dictionary when I asked anyone how a word was spelled. But these ads are TOO MUCH. They are egregious and account for the lost star.
Good ap
This app is really the best
Ads??
Why ads?this app was so good without ads
Exceptional
The Merriam Webster Dictionary has come in handy more than once! The definitions are clearly explained and make perfect sense. I especially enjoy having the thesaurus because it comes in handy during various writing assignments, they have soooo many word varieties! Love this, give it a try!!!
Deleting this app
It’s ridiculous to have full page advertisements that make you wait before exiting. Why would anyone use this and deal with that when they can simply google it.
Too many adds
Too many adds that’s it but it’s good
Unable to open it on my iPhone
I have been using the app for last five years and subscriber for the last three years. But for the last one week I was unable to open the dictionary from the app, despite the fact that expiry of my subscription is May, 2027. It’s a very embarrassing for me…… and when clicked on the app, just get a blank screen….
Bug
The moment my mobile app automatically reinstalled some updates, it made it so that the moment I click on the app, it crashes
One word
Inquisitive.
Not totally free
You get some free then they want you to pay for a subscription.
Pronunciation
I wish the app provided for an audible (spoken)pronunciation—maybe it does and I haven’t found it yet
App crashing even before opening
Up until last month all was fine and after I logged in I can’t seem to operate the app at all. It’s just crashing with no UI at all.
Widget?
This app is great but can we make it available to add to the lockscreen on a widget ?
Pulls
Wwwwww in the chatttt
Paywalls words?!
I use this app when reading so I can look up words I don’t recognize. Just today I got a message saying that to find the definition of a particular word, I would need to pay for a subscription. Nope! Screw that. Uninstalling and looking for a new app now.
Very decent dictionary
Thorough explanations for words, but it doesn’t cover all the meanings if you lack a subscription.
Missing words
Uninstalling this because I couldn’t find the word “colourful” in your dictionary. It’s always British English first and then the rest. For such words, the usage/spelling should be mentioned.
Love this dictionary
My favourite dictionary!!! Shows the English language in all its beauty 🥲
Very user friendly
I’m constantly looking up words, and this dictionary is very user. I love it.
Scam ads
They allow scam ads on their app that are completely inappropriate for minors!
Pretty good
Could be better, not enough games
Ads
So silly. App appears to define words properly, but if you want a second definition you have to figure out how to get past the ads. I can get the same info from a variety of sources (AI, search engines, etc) without delay and ads. Deleting
Dictionary
It does not have all the words and you have to pay
Good
I like how let us listen to the word
Frequent Disruptive Ads
There are way too many ads, too frequently, and too disruptive. You have to hunt around for the close button which changes between ads. I encourage anyone reading this to bookmark the website in your browser and use that instead.
This app is generational
This app is so good apart from all the stupid ads. It seems like a trivial thing, but as a screen time user, I can’t access the app whenever there’s an ad. This means I have to close out of the dictionary and re-enter it just to search up one word. I still love this app though.
Crash
Its not working now the app crashing continuously pls fix it
So many ads
If you want to search more than 1 word you gotta sit thru an ad. They’re already making money from selling your identifying data (have a look at what they track and link to you, stuff outside of the app too)
Mmm words
I'm only here because of Stoker, Tolkien, and oddly Meyer. Mmm Big words for my little brain
Half the words behind paywall
don’t waste your time, use Google, Perplexity, GPT… anything else
Phrases
Not easy to find meaning of phrases relative to a specific word
会员还是有广告
开的会员一年多都没广告，上个月就开始爆广告，所有会员特权消失，想发mail申诉却登不上去。不会又是百度在背后搞鬼吧，为强迫别人用他们的百度翻译，真心恶心到了

English Language Right at My Fingertips
I’m not the greatest speller, so I needed something to turn to and I love this app. While I have other tech assistants like Siri and Alexa, I continue to use a dictionary for spelling, as well as word meaning. And I love the word games that the app comes with, which makes language fun, and helps me improve mine.
Ads in the dictionary
Smh
Found Merriam- Webster Dictionary a great resource, but some words are still unconquered by it!
Found Merriam- Webster Dictionary a great resource, but some words are still unconquered by it!
Broken Widget
It has been several months my widget for the word of the day. iOS 18 has also rolled out in the meantime, but the widget is still not fixed.
Lacks words on online M-W
Annoyingly for an otherwise very good dictionary, there have been a few recent searches that draw a blank in the app, but which are in the online version of the same dictionary.
Handy-dandy
I love having this app on my home Home Screen.
Constant error since updating to latest iOS
The app is unusable since updating to the latest iOS. Anytime I try to look something up, I get an error message, and all my saved words have been deleted.
Widget could have been better
Most of the space in the widget is unused. May be make the word and it’s meaning bigger to utilise it well.
Scribble doesn’t work properly
All brilliant, but when it come to scribble with Apple Pencil, it easily mistrigger the mult-task option (the three dots at the top of the app window) so easily. Also, the search field is too small to write in. If they can be fixed. I will say 4 stars at least.
Annoying missing words
Not that rarely I find words the dictionary just does not recognise, which does not give me great confidence in its authority or scope. This morning it told me the word ‘lapsarian’ does not exist. Not acceptable. I might be ditching it.
