As a long time subscriber
Current version is the best ever!! Thank you for your hard work making it the best. Please do not make changes to the current version. It can’t be better
Can’t access new directly
Your app only lets me view the pages of your magazine. I cannot access a direct feed to read current news and outside of the app i cannot find a way to log in.
Bookmarking
Sure wish the app held my “last read” position when I close the app. I doubt I’m the only person who reads the magazine front to back over a period of multiple days.
Issues
Reading is good but I frequently have problems with my subscrptions and getting new magazines. Don’t like the new format. You can’t spread the text. Even the text size option doesn’t make it readable.
Time Magazine
I enjoyed TIME Magazine in years past much more than I do today. I do not like so many 100 lists of people, companies, etc.. I wish the editors would just stick to regular news stories, editorials, culture, etc.. All of these lists are exhausting and not worthy of this magazine.
Decades of Satisfaction
Consistently excellent articles
Fraud to make you pay again
Their app will keep showing subscribe options even when you are an active subscriber. Think they deliberately make it error prone so that people pay by mistake and not claim back the money
Not enough TIME
I can never have a successful week unless I have read my issue of TIME from cover to cover, sometimes even including the ads like the tutorials about why China is really GREAT(?). My major problem with TIME is recurrent boring listing of the 100 most interesting, or powerful or beautiful or, etc.; this takes up so much space & is boring as heck, that I could cry.
Regressed
Previous version allowed me to read offline in text mode, this version doesn’t, whose idea was it to regress like this???
Great content. Lousy delivery.
Frustrating that you can’t access articles directly. No search function??!!
Newest update causes app to immediately crash
App immediately crashes upon opening. Please fix ASAP. UPDATE, 5/24: An additional update has been downloaded since this initial review, and that update seems to have resolved the issue.
What’s Happening?
I don’t understand what happened. All that is on the app is the magazine. Where is all the daily content?
OK, but it needs work
The app displays the magazine properly for me, both on my iPad and on my iPhone. The deficiencies that I see are: 1) It doesn't save your current location in the magazine for the next day, 2) It doesn’t provide a way to bookmark pages that I can find, and 3) The table of contents should be available from the directly from the page showing the cover. It seems that you must advance one page before access to the button leading to the table of contents is available. Version 107.4.3.
Update: App is broken again -- Previous review: Very nicely improved!
1. Again, I can't view the latest issues on the TIME app on a perfectly updated iPhone 14, even though the September 30 and October 14 issues have been out for a while now, even though my subscription is good until March 2024! 2. I messaged Support a couple of weeks ago, and you asked me to try the "Synch your library" command, and it worked for the August 16th issue (which still doesn't show up in my library but is still readable because I archived it). The last issue that shows up in my library is August 26! 3. The September 30 and October 14 issues ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO ME BY PURCHASE! October 14 doesn't show up in Recent Issues. I have never had ANY trouble with my subscription on my NY Times app nor with my CNN and BBC apps. But over the years I have had A LOT trouble with the TIME app! I am VERY computer "literate" (former IT specialist and computer trainer for a large company, webmaster, Silicon Valley tech writer etc.). I believe the problem is that TIME simply doesn't care about its digital customers, which is sad, since people under 50 don't really want the paper magazine. After a very harsh review I wrote, it seemed as if TIME had actually listened to me (and probably hundreds of other angry customers), and I admit that the app has been stable for about 2 years. But it's USELESS AND FRUSTRATING now. Previous review: I think you guys really listened to my criticisms a couple of years ago, because I am finding this app to be just about perfect now. In the past, I had logon issues because of differences in the app and accessing via the Web, and also I had to logon after updates. That is no longer a problem, and I’m finding it’s very useful to have the whole paper magazine on my iPhone, every single page! Thank you TIME magazine. If you can find my old review, please delete it.
New app
Not great, you can’t as far I can tell make the article view full screen so it is hard to read, also when you go back and forth between the page view and article view it goes back to the beginning of the magazine in article view and not where you were
TIME got this app right!
The new TIME app is a huge improvement. All the problems with the old version are gone. It’s fast, clean, and easy to use. Best of all, the content looks just like the Apple News+ version, beautifully formatted and optimized for mobile. I love this app. TIME nailed it.
Why is there never a new issue?
It’s July 14 and time app is showing me the June 23 issue as the most current. It’s always like this. I regret buying a subscription Some ideas: -show the different covers from each issue whenever we launch the app so at least it looks fresh -utilize the aspects of the digital nature of this app to make it less like a pdf reader. Include multimedia like the 1990s promised you would do. Audio clips of the interviews? The option to have articles read to us? Video when appropriate? 3D models. Break out of the page design
Content Good. App Support is bad
Time has been a great app but occasionally a new app build will crash the app. Customer support took 3-4 weeks to reply back to address the problem. You just have to wait until the next app build is updated in the App Store.
Synchronization
Your app keeps logging me out when you update and it’s very painful to reestablish the account.
Basic
It said there was speech to text when I google it. Wish it could just read to me
Great App
Very intuitive and user friendly. I like how you can sign in with either your email or account number. I also like how the pages read when I turn my tablet from landscape to portrait and vise versa. In landscape the tablet screen displays two pages of the magazine whereas portrait shows one page, but scaled larger. I would suggest to allow readers to switch to dark mode while reading in the native pdf format. The app currently provides a dark mode option, however, the content switches as if reading a webpage. Great app overall.
Doesn’t remember where you left off
App doesn’t remember where you left off so every time you go back to it you have to remember which issue you were reading and then scroll through the table of contents and try to remember where you left off.
Doesn’t work
Can’t get beyond the first screen on the new app I called and emailed and no solution. Very frustrated
Cannot log in after subscription
I had a subscription but I still don’t know what to do to log in this app
Good but could be better
I like this app but it is missing an important feature. It needs to have the dictionary enabling so that I can find the definitions of words or terms that I am not familiar with. It would be nice if there were more news and less content written by people who are not journalists. I am tired of these lists of 100’s. Content written frequently by people who are more interested in writing about themselves. Boring stuff. But cheap to produce. It is easy to navigate to the portion of the magazine you want to read. Extra digital content is a bonus. It would be nice if there were an option to download the videos when you get the magazine. Sometimes I am not able to get these as I read the content. All in all I like most it. I have switched from reading the paper to the digital completely. 40 Year Subscriber
No. Audio Option
I enjoy reading the magazine on the app. However I often listen to my magazine at the gym. Unlike The Economist and The Atlantic, Time does NOT have an audio option.
Looks nice but no bookmarks
The new app looks nice, but features are lacking. Primarily, there does not appear to be a way to bookmark a page. This is a show stopper for me.
Great app but...
Great app need audio in it
Needs work
Can't view preview or a summary of the issue. All you can see is the cover and a buy button. On top of it all the thumbnail can't be enlarged. Not very enticing.
Time app
The format is not user friendly, not sophisticated, the fonts are much too small even on iPad. Disappointing, will not renew.
Time magazine has been in my family for many decades. Keep up the great news! Thanks 😊
I have enjoyed the Journalistic ability of the writers for a long time.
Poor Support
I have been a loyal subscriber to Time for 40 years. The latest version of this app has removed most of my library leaving me with less than a year’s worth of issues. Now I’m expected to pay for the back issues of the subscription that I’ve already paid for. I’ve reached out to support three times and have heard nothing back. Perhaps it’s time to get my in depth news coverage elsewhere, because clearly Time doesn’t value me as a subscriber.
Need better Text-To-Speech
It is buried in the Text options for the articles. It sounds unnatural and makes mistakes (ex: pronouncing “Ally” as “Allee”). A better AI reader or a real person reading the article would be much better.
Please fix the audio portion
An amazing idea squandered when it's nearly impossible to use. The audio portion stops for so many reasons, it's impossible to list them all and when you restart, goes back to the beginning. Come on Time, you're better than this!
Confusing layout
The layout is confusing. All magazines should download permanently. One should be able to access articles in the archives.
Very nice App
This app is very beautiful and useful and efficient. I was able to listen to audio articles and read the articles and more I have one recommendation : is there a way to group the audio versions of the articles together so the user can search for all the audio articles? Nice job.
App crashes on startup. Unusable
App Crashes on startup on IPadOS 18.4. Totally unusable.
Unable to download current issue
Have tried to contact support within the app but Time magazine is not even listed in the form drop down menu for support! Pretty ridiculous.
Time
Like everything but the change made that only allows me to view Time in vertical but not landscape is frustrating.
No access to subscribed magazine
Subscribed to the latest issue, but app will not let me download. Will my 2.99 dollars be wasted on a magazine I cannot read? Doesn’t seem fair don’t you think? 🤔 App needs an immediate fix! Until then, the rating I gave was generous in spite of not having access to my subscription.
iPad access lost
New app keeps crashing when trying to get in
Busted!!😡😡😡
Update, App customer service is excellent. Solved the issue within hours. However, Time customer service is confused and unresponsive. No customer service!!! Contact Us link goes to a publisher that does NOT publish Time. Cannot open links to issues. Deleted and reinstalled without success. Phone help was no help. Just horrible and frustrating.
Beautifully designed app but a few bugs
Would love to purchase a year long subscription but there are a few bugs that need working out. The voice control stops after you turn a page, how do I reactivate so the article is read out loud?
I rely on Time
With our increasing lack of time, TIME is what I rely upon. The best standard of journalism, complete, easy to read, good to read. Thang Bui
Stopped working
Issues previously downloaded to library won’t open. Then app signed me out. I didn’t. Won’t recognize my e mail for sign in. Login failed -Email or password incorrect. Please check and try again. No option for “forgot email or password.” Very stupid. 2 e mails using Contact support link. No response. Worthless.
Time APP
Great app. Clear, concise, comprehensive and easy to use.
