The apps is very simple and useful. They have many updates making the app better over time. It keeps getting better and better
WTH!
I was using this app for years and loved it. The new upgrade must come with a glitch, it created 700 of the same person and then when I merged them it merged about 1000 contacts into one. I can’t text anyone, find anyone. I emailed and support and have not heard back. I’m on my phone all day for work, if this can’t be reversed I’ve lost so much time. Please help fix it.

Critical feature lack but functional
Only allows selection of calls from one place , it’s only switchable in the settings . Can only use WhatsApp or regular calls which isn’t how reality works . Functional otherwise. Also annoying upsell of lifetime at least it’s still being updated.
Business Card Scan
I would have bought the more expensive $149 option had it had access to Scan Business Card functionality: create a contact based on the scan of a business card (unfortunately only available for subscribers to the "Teams" plan)

Hi don’t believe I’m get my moneys worth on this app. Despite sending two emails to them about functions in the app not working. They have completely ignored me.
Quite Useful and Customizable CRM
I use it for my personal contacts (friends and family) to make sure I keep in touch. Very customizable tool. I like the new UI revamp. It could be able nice to preset notifications to remind to fill data after planned meetings or phone calls. Or even automatically triggered notifications after a phone call.

Wie gesagt ist die App für ihren Preis gut bis sehr gut, aber der Entwickler reagiert seit Wochen nicht, auf insgesamt drei Emails!!! Das ist unterirdischer Service, zumal ich die Zusatzfunktionen bezahlt habe!
Ok
When I write in this app's notes, longer entries sometimes disappear suddenly. So, I’ve been typing my notes in my phone's default note app first, then copying and pasting them over to Note Journal. Other than this issue, I have no problem using it.
A product that works, not that tries to upsale
Really appreciate the functionality of this product. I track all my clients with it and use it between two devices and have had NO issues with sync. The fact I can create custom fields, search anything, and export are a game changer. Thank you for focusing on the PRODUCT instead of trying to make it the "EVERYTHING" bloatware so many companies do. Also, support has been very responsive the few times I have reached out.
Apple Watch function is real bad
The Apple Watch function is pretty much useless. Can’t see any details of a contact. Can’t call a contact. Definitely no point in it. If you have a to do then it shows it. Gee wow. Been waiting a long time for Apple Watch integration to be better before I buy full version. Hey ho.
Finally a CRM
Finally a CRM I don’t have to have a monthly subscription to use. This app has what I need to keep track of my sphere and set my own reminders. Everything I need is built in with the ability to add a few extra fields if needed.
Keine Wertschätzung alter Kunden
Nachdem man diese App vor längerer Zeit gekauft hat, damals noch eine xtra App für iPad kaufen musste kann man jetzt nicht mal eine Visitenkarte scannen? Als alter Kunde, der fast 100 EUR schon los ist an die diversen Apps der Firma fühlt man sich im Stich gelassen.

Great for keeping an eye on customers and having all the history in one place. It’s just a pity that you don’t synchronise the emails received from customers. I hope this function will arrive soon

Issues
With the latest upgrade of iOS, when entering a new contact in, the options in the top right and left hand corners are not visible. Pressing in that blank area still makes that function work but the option is not visible.

Perfect to keep track of emails and calls made to contacts. I use this app daily and am very happy with it. Nevertheless, the following I miss: 1. Skype integration (I make a lot of international calls) 2. A kind of favorites page like the app 'Savi People' provides but with smaller avatars (that's very helpful if one has 1,450 contacts like I do and don't want to use the search function and/or scrolling up and down) 3. Received emails should be automatically logged just like the sent emails from inside the app (like the app 'Smartr' does). Add those features and your rating will be 5+ stars.
Sync via iCloud leider nicht DSGVO-Konform
Die App selbst ist klasse. Intuitiv, einfach und gut eingebunden. Leider kann der Datenaustausch nur via iCloud stattfinden und diese ist noch immer nicht DSGVO-Konform. Für ein CRM System daher leider unbrauchbar und ausschließlich als Adressbuch nutzbar, mit deaktivierter Cloud. Sobald ein Sync über dav oder frei wählbaren Clounds möglich ist, bin ich gerne wieder dabei.
Kontakt-Nachzügler
Die Kontakte werden nur nach und nach aus der normalen Kontaktliste übernommen. Das ist nicht immer gut.. Nach Manuela Eingabe allerdings alles so wie man sich eine kleine CRM wünscht.

Very Nice CRM Tool
Update: 26 May 2026. I've been using the tool for a couple years now that I've started my own business and it continues to meet my needs, which are fairly basic. I just need a log of phone calls, service calls, etc. It's great for new businesses since it's very affordable and easy to use. As you grow and add employees you may outgrow it, but it's a really nice tool that seems to be updated regularly and well supported. A nice, lightweight CRM tool. I've used Sales Force while working for large companies, but when doing personal work Contacts Journal is powerful enough to keep track of who you called, email'd, spoke with, etc. I haven't seen any type of reporting within this tool, and some of the more complex functions you'd get with SF aren't going to be available here, but for just keeping up with the Who, What, When, Where, Why of contacts you interact with this tool fits the bill nicely.
Waiting for access
While I have found this app is useful for keeping notes on the go, the recent update means I have to purchase the product again in order to use, which I shouldn’t have to do. While Zaal have responded to my email, there has been no resolution to date.
Mixed review
One one end I like many of the features and the possibilities. On another note, C Journal has yet to respond to my two emails (I’m waiting for 2 months now and there’s nothing in my junk folder).

I have been using contacts Journal CRM for over a year and it just seems to be able to tackle the biggest jobs! I have almost 4500 contacts and it keeps records with so many cross references it simply outperform so many hi-end CRM’s that I have worked with in big companies. The people behind the app are just as amazing!
No Group Text Message
I first downloaded this App in 2010 and quickly uninstalled it when I realized that I couldn’t do Group Text Messaging. Fast forward to 2020, redownloaded from iCloud and still no Group Text Messaging!! Especially when Text Messaging has taking over emails I’ll give a 5 star when I can do Group Texting.
Lots of syncing issues
The program runs well in the iPad app but does not sync to my iPhone or desktop version.

No support!
The apps great until you setup a team and share data between devices, your phone just constantly crashes and I’ve emailed support several times after paying £45 per device and a rolling subscription fee of over £20pm and no reply. So I’m left with an app that doesn’t work and no available technical support, oh and £100 out of pocket too.
Awesome, but missing bday filtering and reminders
I’ve been using this app for about 1 or 2 years now and it’s good enough. The auto-logging texts and calls initiated from within the app has helped me a bunch of times when I had to ask myself “when did we talk about this thing? What did we agree on?” But the thing that bothers me the most is no view or reminder for birthdays. I use Google for my calendar but I use iCloud for my contacts, in order to see birthdays, I have to open iCloud calendar (which I never do), and in order to be reminded about birthdays, I have to manually create a To Dos for each birthday. A list showing upcoming birthdays would make this so much better
Removed Features ... Need back
Please program back in the following two features: 1. Time Zones for Appointments (Ability to create Appointments in MTN Zone with setting for EST Zone). 2. Appointment Durations that extended beyond 24 hour period (multi day appointments setting).

nice idea, but as there is no connection to the real world (no web connection, no windows app), the data is lost in the app. sad

Cannot Contact App maker
I purchased the full version cause it sounded just what I needed. Once installed, I noticed that the emailing function did not work (maybe because of a different email app I am using rather than the ‘mail’app from apple?) No possibility to contact for complaint. Money gone!
Great app, but I have the problem with the storage
The app is really useful and keeps all of the data about my clients. However, I have a question for the developer. Right now, the app takes up 188 GB on my phone (I think it's because I keep photos of the clients' notes). Is it possible to optimize it somehow, because it took up all of my memory?
Good app - but flawed
This app has many functions and the developers are responsive. I want to give this more stars. Three years ago, I flagged the need for custom repeats for tasks, instead of just six presets. Still, no changes to repeat tasks. This is such a basic requirement. It should be standard for a "powerful", "professional" full-priced CRM manager. I'd be happy to give more stars if and when the repeat options are improved.
Needs days elapsed since last log interaction for each contact
The app is nice. But please provide number of days lapsed against each contact since the last log entry for that contact. This is needed for effective personal CRM. Do that and you deserve 5 stars.

I've been using CJournal now for over a year. Love it!! I use it for my business. It's easy to add names and track all communications with them. I set up reminders to follow up with them and to contact them on their birthdays. With the recent upgrade to the iCloud, syncing my phone with my iPad is seamless. Overall great program to track and follow up with customers.

Application très utile, certes, mais un peu archaïque et mal achevée! Autrement dit, les fonctions de cette application sont pratiques mais limitées. Bien dommAge!... Elles devraient être beaucoup plus avancées vu la cherté de l’application. Mais cher une fois, ne suffit pas! En effet, on vous oblige à vous faire payer 2 fois le même produit. Et je dirai, tant qu’on y est, pourquoi pas encore un jour, une troisième fois? C’est effectivement, ce qui m’est arrivé. J’avais acheté la version « illimitée » précédente à 17,99€ qui marchait parfaitement bien. La nouvelle version sort à 27,99€ et du coup mon ancienne application ne marche plus! (Elle ne s’ouvre plus!). Vous obligeant à acheter la nouvelle version pour retrouver le travail et les données perdues. Mais, tenez vous bien, le comble dans tout ça, est que la nouvelle version n’a aucune amélioration par rapport à la version antérieure !!!
Can have some more improvement
The app is great, but it will be better if they have some function that repeated scheduled call back every 2 months 3 months or 6 months. Sometimes also too many click to be able to call one person. Might be very difficult to have a mass text messaging but if you guys can add that too this app would be perfect Thanks

Having issues
This is actually a very good app for keeping track of customers, sales calls, exporting notes for the day or any time frame, but recently the contact name won’t stay and continues to show the business name. Have changed and saved the changes, but they revert back to the business name in what should be the contact name. Have sent a request for resolution twice to Zaal but no response has happened. Seems like their customer support doesnt want to respond.
