First CRM for normal people
Free version needs a credit card?!
I’d use the app if I wasn’t forced to add a credit card to use the free version… I’m more than willing to pay for a subscription if I like it (and it looks like I’d like it), but I’m not giving my credit card to use a free version of an app! lol
Good flow…
Started using this for the past one week and it is quite engaging, builds into my daily work routine and flow. This is really versatile. There are some minor quirks that needs learning or sometime when the app just shuts down (disappears) when for example updating birth date for a contact on my iPhone.
Not as good as you’d hope.
Chat GPT said clay was good. I thought I did enough research but now I’m using the app and none of my notes for my contacts are there! Even the Nexus feature for individual contacts isn’t working. I click it and nothing happens. When I use the Nexus feature (not linked to specific contact) it’ll still tell me about my notes but that’s so inconvenient. The app is not due for an update and the Nexus assures me it’s just a UI bug… you also can’t delete contacts just archive them. I just feel like I might as well keep notes on my contact library. I would get a refund if I could. I wish I never bought the year subscription $120 down the drain. By the way- in my opinion the 5 star reviews seem like bots- or they had personal interest in a good review…
Great idea, but needs more love
I’m an entrepreneur and I have around 10.000 contacts all over the place, even before I integrate my emails (it will bump it to 50.000, I believe). For me personal CRM is very important and I have serious hopes it will work. What I find annoying that: - the interface isn’t that IPhone-native. I have to test every button to understand what it does. Why inventing the wheel? - sometimes it’s not very stable. For example, right now I can’t save a contact from LinkedIn using ‘Save To Clay’ option. I press the button and nothing happens. I’m investing a lot of time now to organize my contacts, so I really hope it will work!

Worst contact management ever
I am so frustrated that I have just spent days organizing my contacts, and it doesn’t even properly remember who is archived, it hasn’t auto enriched anyones information, it lacks the ability to detect fuzzy duplicates. What a waste of my time, and money - I can’t believe you are charging what you are for this absolute piece of garbage. I really wish I could get back my lost time. Can hardly do even the most basic of what it claims.
Great for quick notes and structured bio, but could be even more automated for contact infos
It’s great that LinkedIn profiles are automated but, I was just a bit disappointed when I realised that when I take notes it doesn’t automatically fill-in the relevant contact info, e.g. if I mention that my contact has a new job in a quick note, or even in the bio section it won’t change it in the contact infos. It would require AI, so I guess it’s for later

LOVE THIS APP. Such a powerful tool and helps me both personally and professionally manage relationships, check in with colleagues/friends, and stay updated on what people in my contacts are up to. Would be much harder to do all of this without this app.

Corporate admin blocks linking to Clay
This app would have been so awesome. If I was able to link it to my corporate email ID, but due to some privacy or security reasons, the corporate admin is not allowing me to link my corporate emails to Clay which defeats the entire purpose for me.
It’s honestly shocking how bad the AI is
I’m continuing to pay for this because it integrates with Notion. If it didn’t I’d have given up on it. Their CS rep was not helpful at all. I often have more success finding contacts by manual search or through Mac Contacts. The Nexus AI is like really really bad. It’s 2025. What’s going on over there? Not trying to be a jerk but I’m honestly flabbergasted at how often I have to figure things things manually. The interface is… fine? I guess? I don’t find it to be particularly intuitive but I’m willing to take that with a grain of salt as it may be subjective. The app and service has a great deal of promise. I’m holding out hope it’ll get better and I can make it my primary jump point to contact folks in my network.
Love it… but the price
I really loved this app, intuitive, giving a new look for my contacts and having all at my hands BUT REALLY EXPENSIVE. More than 150 dollars per year is too much for a contacts app. Even subscriptions for crucial services like Dropbox or MS 365 are cheaper than this app

Complete Scam!
They ask you to put your credit card information before seeing the platform. Then they as you to upload your data BEFORE seeing the platform! And even to unsubscribe or to delete your account you MUST give them your data because otherwise you won’t get into the dashboard! I have written them an unsubscribe email and didn’t receive any response either!
Same as others — needs more core product focus
Core product is getting better but still buggy, slow to load, handles merging contacts poorly (eg often I have a contact in iMessage that doesn’t show up in clay app to merge with LinkedIn etc, despite being visible in Contacts iOS app under “Clay”) Feels like product team is more concerned with their professional portfolios than users needs Want to pay for this but it’s not there yet… and it’s been forever
I’m leaving HubSpot
Clay is the CRM I’ve been looking for. Easy integration with all my networking apps (except instagram), clean easy to use interface, direct linking to multiple contact points. I’m leaving HubSpot!
Not for me, don’t need CRM app in my personal accounts
Super annoying. I just want to manually enter data, am not looking for an app to reach into my contacts or social media. Notifications random and annoying. Not for me.
Concept is good but
The features don’t all work right.
Solid App
I’ve been using this for almost 3 years, since it was in beta. It’s constantly getting better and makes it easy for me to see a full picture of my network and relationships.
Wrong Focus on Professional
Context: I’m a fractional CTO. I sit over several large Dynamics houses. I’d never consider clay on par. I’d happily shell out a lot for a rock solid personal CRM, but I see a product team incorrectly thinking they could eat up the lower end of the business market. Stay in your lane
Great idea, poor execution
I had high hopes for this app. Despite the many bugs I ran into, the features were compelling, so I fought through them (retyping deleted notes, crashing, etc.) and started using it regularly. Then one day all the settings I spent a lot of time on (which people to give me reminders for, which not to) all restarted. All of my work was gone. I reached out to support - nothing. No response. I’m so disappointed and frustrated. I paid for a year subscription and they said nothing about all the issues I ran into. This app is more trouble than it is worth.
Great
Finally switched over from Contacts+ and happy so far. beautiful app with keyboard shortcuts, fast search, and responsive team who responds to feature ideas. iOS app has good widgets and Shortcuts support too, so feels very native
I should’ve listened to reviews… (don’t fall for it)
The whole process felt skep, first they get you to do free trial for yearly, you click monthly, no option without card, you do free trial, immediate charge to your credit card somehow. Then they automatically send 5 of your contacts a referral email if you click continue without closing out the 5 contacts they want to refer for you… the whole process again was just not good, I felt the opposite of what one trying to manage too many relationships falling apart would want. I canceled free trial 5 minutes after realizing the platform was wack. but I still have a $20+ charge on my card
Very very very very buggy
This app is very deceiving. The UI is pretty and all the features SEEM to work. For example LinkedIn does sync and WhatsApp does sync. But when you take a closer look, only SOME of your contacts sync. Even then, the synced data lags so long that you can't rely on Clay to get the latest information, so you end up going to the source of data apps anyway. I really want to recommend this app to my friends but I just can't.
Adding great new features, responsive support!
You know you have a good app when you get an annual subscription reminder and you are excited to pay it because of the value that it brings to you. I thought the cost was a bit high last year when signing up but this year, I’ve been really impressed with the speed of development and adding new features that are impactful. I’m also a big fan of their support. I’ve always gotten thoughtful responses. If you want to be more intentional with your relationships, I recommend checking out Clay!
Forces a free trial with credit card on file when creating an account
I don’t want to start a free trial and don’t want to have a credit card saved on file. I looked at your pricing page online and the free plan is ample for my needs. Please stop forcing this on users. I deleted the before even using it because of this. It doesn’t matter if I can cancel the trial anytime—shame on you for forcing this onto your users. Uninstalled until they change this.
Privacy concerns
Just joined and Clay used my contact list to send invitation emails without my permission. Big privacy lapse.
Solid
Enough technology to be helpful but not too many tools to overwhelm you. Responsive customer service and generous free program with up to 1000 contacts. It’s what I have been looking for.
Fraudulent billing
Even after canceling and deleting my account, they continue to charge my card. I am notifying my bank and asking my lawyer to draft a letter. This is disgraceful.
Not ready
The app crashes a lot and I had to manually import my LinkedIn contacts because the sync did not work
Amazing interface
I like the user experience, seamless reminders that show up in the right time and how it keeps getting more and more useful in business contacts. CRM done well and with little need to organize everything - you just keep adding.
Fraudulent
This app is being pushed by spammers and hackers from India. Don’t use it!
Nice idea, poor execution
The glossy App Store teaser images look nice and sell a promising concept well, but the details in implementation are rough. The look and feel of the app is over designed and doesn’t always implement expected interaction patterns on iOS which can be jarring. There are multiple views where basic dismissal patterns aren’t used. The contact importer doesn’t recognize that their backend may fail, so in order to start over, you have to “delete” your contacts in order to try again. For someone who’s more invested in this application, that’s a bit nerve wracking to try and workaround the flakey backend.
