Honest & Useful

I have been using this app for a while now, to start with I used it to ‘shock’ myself about what I actually was eating and learn where my calories were coming from. I have now successfully set myself a weight loss plan and am using the macros to hit various targets (set by the app). Things are going in the right direction, 7lbs so far. The content is so helpful and there is, importantly, no BS - a rare thing. Keep it up FC!!

Issues editing after adding

Having issues editing after adding food, things like cheese seem to default to 100 grams and bread to serving sizes. 1 slice or two. Tried to change milk in a coffee but default to 100 gram

Overall solid app

I really like this app overall. Tracking is pretty easy once I got the hang of how it differed from the previous app I was using. My only small issue is with the recipes - since the app lets you choose between British or American food database, it would make sense to give an option in recipes to toggle between units of measurement (British vs American). It would be easier than having to convert things like grams of butter to tablespoons for each recipe (yes I wish America would just get on board with the rest of the world but that’s a different issue!).

Problem with recipe feature

I just downloaded this app - very excited as I love the videos I’ve watched - so sane and funny. I put into settings that I’m pescatarian. The problem is that then it ONLY shows me recipes with fish. I wanted some breakfast options and clicked “porridge,” and there were no recipes (because thankfully, there are no porridge recipes with fish). I switched it to vegetarian, and then I got MANY nice breakfast options. Is there a way to fix this?

Could be amazing

I love Graham and his recipes. Unfortunately I’m just using the app for recipes. It doesn’t automatically pull in my sleep or weight from the health app. If I miss a day I can add weight but sleep not logged. Seems pointless as you can’t see sleep history anyway. I am still using MyFitnessPal for food logging as I just can’t do it in this app it’s too difficult. Eg, I might drink 238g soya milk I want to log that in 1g increments not nearest 250g. I’m also dairy free. I use the recipes and adapt them but I’m clueless how to log it without doing everything individually. Pros you can choose own weight and macros + targets are sensible. I’m still paying for now in case improvements for logging are made. It’s not bad but could be brilliant

Revised Review

Coming back to revise my review… The recipes. Phenomenal. SO good. Honestly, the recipes alone keep me coming back. But alas, the food logging aspect of this app has not improved for my country. Rarely are things I scan in the database. You need to have user ability to scan and add barcodes, there’s no way I’m going to sit there sending emails to app creators repeatedly. If they’re willing to check all these emails and log the products, they should just have somebody check products as they’re uploaded by users instead. I’ve returned to utilizing MFP, but using targets taken from this app, because they have every item I put in my mouth. Recipes: 5/5 App functionality: 3/5

For a first version it’s good

I really wanted to love this app and replace a certain other fitness app 👀 it has the potential to be great but it’s not quite there yet. The moment I switched back to the previously unmentioned app, was when I was trying to log my planned meals for the next day. I would click to add food, add it and then it would appear under today. It’s a bit buggy which is to be expected for a newly released app so I’m excited to see updates. I love the fitness chef and all he works towards with his channel so I’m rooting for him!

Ok but not great. Period tracker should be optional.

Personally I found the app overly complicated and clunky to use. Apps like fitpal are easier to use and I find the tracking of your calories to be easier to use. I also feel very strongly that the period tracking system should be an opt in/opt out system, rather than a blanket “Oh you’re a woman you need to track your period” what about trans women or women who do not have periods such as those who have gone through the menopause or hysterectomies. We don’t all want to track our monthly cycles. I didn’t use it but I also couldn’t work out how to turn the period tracker off. I don’t think it really brings anything to the table for me personally.

Fantastic and easy to use!

After following The Fitness Chef for a while and loving his funny, honest and extremely helpful content, I didn’t hesitate to sign up to his new app! It’s everything I was looking for and so much more. It’s really easy use (after a day or two of exploring how everything works) and is helping me greatly with tracking all of my calories and sticking to my goals. The huge range of recipes are incredible too. I have made quite a few recipes in the last two weeks and so far the Tex-Mex Beef and Rice is my favourite. I cannot wait to try out more. I had one small issue last week and the customer service emailed me back within hours and helped me solve the issue quickly. The app is truly worth every penny, I love it.

Can’t even log in

Downloaded the app and chose the 14 day free trial to be followed by a years membership option. Completed my profile set up five times now and I can’t get any further. I can’t cancel my free trial because it’s not coming up in my Apple subscriptions, I can’t access the app to get a customer service contact email address. Every time I access the app I have to redo my profile and it won’t let me go any further than the “restore purchase” page which, when I click on, says I have no purchase despite me having a confirmation email.

Almost where it needs to be

A couple of minor bug fixes and it will be great. Making it compliant to different countries e.g. Ireland, as you can’t scan everything in Irish supermarkets, as well as simplifying adding food and telling you a total of calories for breakfast, lunch and dinner separately and it will be perfect

Lot of potential but broken feature

I love the concept and that you can add your own items, but there is one big issue. To put decimals the app keyboard only lets me put commas and not the point. This breaks a lot of items since i basically have to add everything per kg instead of 100gr. And due to that and the point not being available on the keyboard I can’t add my daily intakes that are not in the fractions. So for example I can’t add 45 grams of sliced turkey. I need to put in 0.045 then but i can only do 0,045 and that’s not being recognized. I hope this gets fixed asap.

Food History and Goal Weight

This app is great! The only thing I would add (if I’m not mistaken) is an adjustable goal weight based on calories/day along with a history of logged foods so that I don’t have to keep typing in the same foods I ate yesterday and it will draw up my previous meals/foods and I can just click on that.

— yungk19

★★☆☆☆ United Kingdom · v1.12 · 27 Apr 2024

Not great for tracking calories, okay for recipe inspiration

App is still new and I like the selection of recipes, most are all easy to follow and budget friendly. Unfortunately the ai generated photos really put me off the food. For tracking calories I really don’t recommend the app I do find it combersome with the search that I can’t search my own recipes that I’ve added. I struggle with reading and personally I don’t love the search function it’s a bit hard to narrow down what I’m looking for and would be nice if there was a better visual of the list alternate background colours(better contrast)/ emojis/ photographs next to ingredients rather than just a line as there is a lot of information for each item. There’s a lot of basic ingredients that aren’t on the app that I would expect to be on. When adding in your own recipes would be good to add your own photograph and if you could just search for your own recipes, and even possibly the opportunity to make the recipe public to share with other users . When adding an item to the planner I wish you could edit the quantities and meal, without having to delete and re-add the item again. When it comes to recording weight, I have a smart scale that I use everyday and it’ll update the apple health app to track trends. Disappointing that the fitness chef app doesn’t use my weight measurements from the health app when they are already transferring data on my step count feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Overall I don’t feel like the app is worth paying the subscription, plenty of apps out there that do a better job

— fionawhite

★★★☆☆ United Kingdom · v2.0.1 · 24 Nov 2025

Only okay so far

I’m on a trial with the app at the moment, and it’s mostly good. But the measurements are fairly restrictive. I wish we had the option to choose spoons or cups for things like sugar or syrup etc. as it’s only offered in grams which is more faff to measure. Be nice if they just gave us all the measurements regardless of food category. The decimal thing is annoying. It seems to link to my Fitbit but yet it doesn’t log the exercise I do at gym from my watch. So I then have to log everything individually, which is a pain. Who has time for that?! So for me, it’s just not worth the money just yet. I’m sure it’ll get there

UI makes sense

Glad I decided to try the FC App! I’ve been using it for 3 days now. Food scanner works great and quick. I like the ability to make my own recipes and keep them for logging. Last night I needed a meal with high protein and low calories and I found the FC Filter for recipes very helpful. Dinner was great, even my family of five didn’t realize we were sticking to “moms diet”! Looking forward to logging in multiple times daily. Thanks!

Disappointing

I was very eager to use this app. However several features did not work. Foods were not grouped properly. Lunch options still had oatmeal which was on breakfast options. I think this app was not properly tested before release. What was most disappointing for me was the response I got when I tried to cancel my subscription. I was told they hoped I would cheer up soon. Do not subscribe!

I downloaded this app last year having followed The Fitness Chef for some time on social media. Having used the app for several months on the subscription I found it over complicated and clunky. As it was a new app I hoped the developer would make changes and improvements but this didn’t happen. There are better health trackers for FREE. So don’t waste your money. Unfortunately I didn’t realise the app was on an auto renew system and ended up paying for a second year by accident. I contacted customer support explaining my situation and requested a refund and got a smug reply from them stating I should have read the terms and conditions about their auto renew policy. They have refused to refund me and have now stopped responding to any messages. Terrible customer service all round. I’d warn all user not to engage with this app, if you have any issues, they won’t assist. It’s your money they’re interested in.

Greatly improved

I was pleasantly surprised at the new app. I had used the previous one but was frustrated. This upgraded app is far easier to navigate. Finding foods is so much faster. I also like the new planner design. I’ve had no issues so far using the app. With the new launch, there are expected glitches, as with anything new. The team seems to be on it quickly to resolve the issues. I really enjoy The Fitness Chef and am really happy to see the changes! On a side note, any chance of adding fiber to the count? Keep up the great work!

Not bad, but a few things would make it easier.

I like this app, but it would be nice if there was an easier to add previous meals from a previous day instead of having to enter it in manually each time. Also, i wish there was a way to edit an entry. You have to delete an entry if you make an error and reenter it. I like the count down of calories and protein so you can see what you have left. Just wish it was easier to use.
