I love this game and I didn’t know how to play chess.when I started but I think I might of gotten way better .Because I played vs level 6 and won easily, but I learned so well. thanks chess universe
Game keep crashing
So many games the opponent runs the clock out cause they are down . It freezes and I don’t get the win it’s so frustrating.
Weak
Unfortunately, one of the biggest weaknesses of this game is the quality of the alternative moves it suggests after you make a “weak” move. The recommended move often seems to focus only on the immediate position rather than analysing several moves ahead, as a proper chess engine would, taking into account the overall placement of both your pieces and your opponent’s. For example, I had a square under attack by an opposing rook, and the game suggested responding with my rook. However, from a longer-term positional perspective, defending with my knight was a much stronger option and better preserved my overall setup. For me, this is one of the most significant shortcomings of the app. Aside from that, it is a very enjoyable tool for practising, exploring, and improving your chess. Finally, I wonder if this weakness is based on the tokens that you have to use for the proposed move as it uses a token to show it to you? and you must spent little diamonds to “buy” those tokens? Just food for thought… Update : I might have been too harsh! The app is ok but the weak proposed moves need to be fixed if possible! Cheers!
Great game ruined by cheats
As others have noted. The game itself is great but the cheat bots are gradually ruining it. They’re easy to spot as well.

So I’ve been playing this game for a long time and I know I’m not crazy cause it only does it when somebody’s losing but my opponent will move a piece and then I attack that piece or just move another piece and then after that their piece that they had moved before me, would move again in the same play or whatever play to benefit them like it’s skip my move only to attack me someone’s figured out how to hack this game because it happens with several people only when they’re losing

It’s amazing for normal chess and I love it but with the name chess universe+ I would think it would have all the different versions of chess like fairy chess and I think it be cool to be able to create your own chess pieces within the app so yeah great for normal chess but it’d be better if it actually included the universe+ in the game and not just in the title.
Not for beginners
This app has what it calls chest lessons but they are very poorly done. They don’t explain things & don’t give begiiners a chance to play in a way to learn in the matches. This is really for expert players.
Good game but with technical issues
Game is good but has a horrible reconnection issue where if you read a message or other notification during the game you can’t continue playing. 5 stars if that gets fixed.

Just play chess.com. No point in using this inferior version of online chess. Terrible chess bots. No anti cheat. Just a bad app
Cool but also frustrating limits
I’ve enjoyed playing this chess game because of all the avatars and chess sets you can unlock, mix and match, create your own look etc. However I’ve now bumped into some sort of limit and can no longer unlock the remaining few characters such as the Warlock for example. The computer play is pretty poor, it should have better calibrated levels as you progress, as on chess.com, the easy levels are really stupid and it would be better if the gameplay adjusted to match around the player’s ELO, ie: -200, 0, +200. The post-game analysis options are also limited, in particular missing the “show me” feature in chess.com which explains why a move may be good (or poor). Overall, whilst this is a more fun & appealing game, it has limitations that the developers could easily improve on.
It lost all my data
I have played this game for many many hours. Collected almost all the boards and sets. Beat many of the mini game challenges. Then the game forgot all my progress. I love chess but I don’t want to redo all the lessons games. Very disappointing.
Small squares
If you accidentally press/tap the wrong button, you will not be able to undo your move, which is annoying. For example, you want to move your queen to D3 and accidentally press D4 because of the screen size. Other than that, fun game.
The BEST chess game out there
I’ve been playing for years since this was released on Apple Arcade. I’ve tried other chess apps and none of them come close to how exceptional this one is. Something about the check effects, the sound effects and the clean design makes for a really satisfying game.
Doesn’t belong in Apple Arcade
This app operates like a free/pay to play app. Wait 24hrs until next match. Even within the Apple Arcade. The settings are so limited, the chess pieces move so fast that you miss where your opponent moved.
Very fun
Not much to say really. There’s fun puzzles to riddle out and potentially help you learn new strategies and ways to play. My sole complaint is actually in visuals rather than gameplay. I absolutely hate that piece movements by the opponents has zero animation. Literally just an instant one frame snap. This is quite terrible because without any animation or hint of what piece is about to move you can easily miss the opponent’s move simply by blinking your eyes when it happens. You just have to remember to memorize everything on the board before you make your own move so you can figure out what piece your opponent magically teleported to the next spot.
App is not Syncing
For some reason, the app is not syncing and continues to ‘clock’ or spin when attempting to open. I have deleted the app, re-add the app. Then the app will load, however, when trying to sync my gamer ID and pull in all my data, the app continues to ‘clock’ and never syncs and pulls in the data related to my gamer ID. Fun app, until this started happening. Please fix.

Stopped Working on iPad
The app was working fine for iPad up until 23 June 2026. Now it hangs indefinitely when opening the app. If I delete and reinstall the app, I’m able to play but cannot connect with Game Center to retrieve my progress. Attempting the connection with Game Center also hangs indefinitely, but worked prior to 23 June. Please address this.

I love the game but I think it’s really hard because it’s like easy mode is like hard mode♟️.
Game Center ID stopped working
It was working well for a month but now it won’t let me use my Game Center ID. I push the allow button and it hangs forever. This just started happening June 23. Before today, I could allow use of my Game Center ID just fine. Please help.
Good game
My only complaint really is that if you are going to offer speed chess the speed of touch response needs improving. It is not a matter of device as I am playing on an iPhone 15. Also there could be more time options like maybe a 2 minute with bonus seconds re added for quick moves.like 2+1 etc…Overall it is decent and with Apple Arcade there are no ads.

Maddening
Nothing worse than moving a pawn forward two spaces and this stupid game glitching and only moving it forward one which can severely screw up a strategy. Has happened countless times. Please fix this issue!
Nice app but the “partial gamification” problematic
I have been getting back into playing chess and this app has been helpful. However, when I started I did not understand how important “jewels” were am now short of them. Once behind on this the Arcade version provides only very slow ways to get them back, restricting access to the training exercises. I suspect there are more ways to overcome this issue in the non-Arcade version. A better way to handle this would be nice.
Killed it with the update.
Was pretty good, but the update really messed it up, no more double rewards , progressively more expensive to refresh the rewards. I get it this is easier for them who like to grind rewards make it harder to get them rather than put out new content. But ya made your game not as enjoyable.

Non stop Cheating
Rampant cheating in this game. Just look at the 1000 or lower rated players. I’ve analyzed their games and they are playing 1900+ level moves. This game is overrun with cheaters. Try it yourself and see. It’s very very easy to analyze the cheating.
Duplicates and Disappearing clicking effects
Every time the opponent’s king moves it duplicates itself where it was before. Also, every time I open the app the clicking effects are gone. Other than that, it’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chess is already a game
If I could disable the cartoons, loot boxes, and fake currencies, I'd actually like this app. The beginner bot games are schizophrenic. If I play as well as I can, the bot beats me effortlessly and toys with me (I'm a beginner). If I play as stupidly as I can, the bot plays even worse, giving me a free rook after a free queen. There's no consistency for a single "level 2" game. I'd like an option to have less feedback in multi-step puzzles: let me move pieces experimentally on the board myself, and let me disable confirmation that my first move is correct. It's hard to think enough moves ahead and track board state, so I need to move pieces, but I don't want to basically be handed the answer, which is what the confirmation does. Removed another star because I can't delete "Boxing Arena", a scam designed to rob gullible idiot beginners of diamonds, a currency that doesn't even make sense without an exploitative real-world dollars currency exchange. Crammed sideways into chess, of all games. A 3.5 minute "easy" game (not _so_ easy) for a rank beginner in the "training" section? Go screw yourselves.
Great but doesn’t play over data

Games freeze up and force you to resign
Multiple times now games have frozen up where my opponent’s clock is not running but it’s their turn and I can’t do anything except quit the game which then gets counted as a loss. Also, they need to add increments to the clock.

At it’s strongest level, it's a bad joke. I easily obtained a 2 pawn advantage, in the first game. It makes some weak moves. Also, has annoyingly cutesy animation

I am playing against the computer practice matches Level 6 and the platform will not let me castle when I should be able to. Please fix!
Great for Fun, to Learn, Anything Chess!
Chess universe makes chess fun with a lot to do in the game. You can play vs others, against AI’s, fill collections, customize the board and your king, and other nice features with nothing truly wrong with the game.

Crashes phone constantly
This app used to be great, but recent updates to either the game or iOS have caused this app to freeze up and often crash my phone entirely.
Irritations, gradually learned to dislike the game
Better than chess.com if you like playing for the fun of it and not against complete terror geeks who think it’s matter of life and death to win. You get the occasional irritating person on multiplayer playing for time type dipshniz, more so now there is tournament mode where the ‘nitro’ feature spoils things a bit as there are some players that seem to be able to make moves instantaneously and still win. BUT… whilst I’m happy for the people that love chess and it’s their thing, I’ve concluded that for me it’s just a monumental waste of my time. At one point I think I perhaps enjoyed playing it, but every time I just end up thinking I’d wish I’d been out enjoying the real world, with real people, doing actual meaningful things with life. Bye bye weird chess app

The app is very tilted. It has player rankings. Somehow a player that has beaten a ranked player at over 2700 is only ranked 1150 themselves. The app has multiple flaws.

Black you lose banner
I’ve been learning chess with this game and it’s pretty good. I am currently stuck on one of the levels and what I’ve found very frustrating is the big black you lose banner. Not because I lost. But because I can’t see where all the pieces are on the board to see *why* I lost. Please add a feature to dismiss that banner so we can understand why we are losing. Also lost a few times due to a stalemate. I don’t believe this was explained in the earlier levels and I had to look it up on the web.
