Addictive backgammon game
Love playing and learning how to become a better player. It is fast and very responsive.
Not as many options as real version
They took away some basic options from their other version, just because it’s included in Apple Arcade
Update on rigged dice, I changed review yet it’s not happened ( maybe once or twice.)
I’ve played many years. I’m not great but I never lose like on here. The dice always favor the opponent, high numbers many doubles. Sure skill is involved, but this is beyond that. I lose almost every game. The opponent gets multiple doubles, high numbers when bearing off. If it comes so close, he’ll get double 6’s to get last 4 off and win. I’ve never experienced anything on any other backgammon platform. Apple is not going to bother and neither are you. Apple responded ( thank you but no real investigation) it’s just not realistic the way it’s working. On other backgammon games on medium-hard, I have won and lost. We both( against computer seemed to get equal rolls)
It’s changed, not for the better
Something obviously has changed recently. The opponents doubles and exact rolls are ridiculously slanted to win. So obvious to be absurd despite denials or blaming AI. I’ve played this game frequently for quite some time so the changes were very noticeable.
My opinion
I love this game but I do not believe that the dice roll is 100% random as claimed.
Game is great, Muzak is repetitive
I like playing casually, and this is a smooth implementation of the game. I have not tried the more difficult ai settings, so I can’t comment on how well they are implemented. But for all that is holy, turnoff the music. It is the epitome of packaged Muzak and starts repeating itself about five bars in. For that annoyance, I dropped my rating one star.
Dice rolls are not random
Game decides to give all low rolls near the end of every game.
Good game
I always thought the computer opponent rolled more doubles than random rolls would generate. So I played 10 games and kept track of the doubles. Computer - 41, me - 37. Within the margin of error for a small sample.
What are the odds?
What are the odds that I would roll a one and a two, three times in a row? While my AI opponent rolls continuous doubles? And that this would happen two games in a row? I guess AI doesn’t like to lose.
Out of Touch
The developers insist the rolls are random despite numerous reviewers indicating otherwise. It makes me wonder whether they actually play their own game.

Backgammon that always gets the perfect roll
The hard level of this game is just ridiculous. It always rolls the perfect roll. Always. C’mon developers… no one rolls that perfectly, even the best backgammon players in the world.

I play flawless and the computer get every roll it needs, and when I need a roll it rarely comes.

I love heart the pieces move and really enjoy playing. Sometimes it feels like the rolls are tilted towards the computer side.

Great platform for backgammon. Nice not to be “hit on” by idiots who assume that I am looking for a partner rather than wanting to play my beloved backgammon! Lovely board, smooth play!
Cheating AI!
This game’s AI cheats constantly! It mysteriously rolls dice to constantly take you out when its behind or rolls several doubles to bypass you when losing at the end to win! Totally stinks! I won’t be playing it anymore!
Good for beginners, but
It’s great for teaching the game and strategy, but be ready to feel cheated in games. The number of times the app player gets the precise dice rolls it needs seems statistically impossible. In other words, the game is designed to win.

Worst Backgammon App EVER
I have been playing backgammon for over 30 years. The dice rolls in this game and situations it creates never happens in REAL backgammon. Terrible game. Hope Apple finds a better game for their arcade or I will cancel my subscription.

Convenient roll for the computer
In far too many instances, the computer gets just the right roll…every, single, time. By far more than should be normal. Too bad because it’s a decent game. I have yet to find a digital version that actually has a realistic play.
Too many doubles
This is a good way to learn the basics of the game. At the medium and hard levels the computer opponent rolls way too many doubles especially when bearing off. Very frustrating to play a good game and lose to an unrealistic number of doubles.

This game cheats.
Seriously. On hard mode, the computer always gets the perfect roll. Every single time. I even showed my brother, like, watch, the computer will get a 6, and it always does. Medium mode cheats, and sandbags at the same time, and easy mode just sandbags. It’s almost funny how predictable the rolls are.
Quite good
When choosing “hard” as the level of difficulty, too many convenient dice rolls occur in the AI’s favour. Medium is a better even play.

Hard isn’t ridiculous because it’s too difficult but the rolls of dice are ridiculous! It’s so biased, I love the gameplay and the pace however it’s so unfair, like backgammon is a skilled game, on hard 8 or 9 times out of 10 the computer will always get you if you leave one thing open, this needs to be fixed. It’s so systematic it’s ridiculous and when I play with friends the interface is so buggy too, takes so long

Aggravatingly biased but highly addictive. I don’t think anyone should pay for this version of the game.
If you leave a checker open it will be blotted
The game looks great. The difficulty levels are only separated by exceptional dice rolls on the part of your computerized opponent not better game play. At the hard level if you are blotted you will never get back on. I wish the designers would fix the dice rolling because mechanically and visually it is one of the nicest games out there.

Easy to play, lots of fun and true to board backgammon. Highly recommended!
Rigged rolls
It’s laughable the rolls that the computer gets compared to the player. I’ve played a dozen games and every time it goes the same way. What I don’t get is why make it this way on the arcade version that’s not pay to win. Garbage app. Deleting and getting a different backgammon game.

Dice rolling is ludicrous
As so many others have said, there is something seriously wrong with the dice rolling, especially when playing the computer. It’s hard for people to learn to play properly when the risks don’t match the odds. Shame as it’s a fantastically designed game otherwise.

It would be great if the doubling cube was fully implemented, and other basic features.

Game Cheats for payers
If you purchase game the developer gives you automatic dice roll preferences on incredibly lucky rolls while if you are arcade free your rolls never hit. When you play people with hundreds or thousands of points they get unreal rolls hitting you on odds that just are not real. You basically pay to win. Its a total BS game.

AI is awful
I want to love this game but the amount of “luck” the AI has at rolling the exact number it needs is ridiculous.

As far as I can tell there is no way to change the difficulty settings once you pick it in the beginning. Very frustrating.
