Artificial difficulty
As a disclaimer: I beat the game and all DLCs on impossible. I write this review not due to a “skill issue”; I enjoy difficult games, and am a fan of the KR series for this reason. Overall this game is terribly balanced. The beginning levels, even on the hardest mode, are incredibly easy. Then there is a sudden switch in difficulty. Moreover this difficulty is completely fabricated: the enemies just become befeer and they start to disable your towers or troops. Furthermore many waves of flying or Aoe enemies come, and all of the free towers don’t do nearly enough damage to take them down. The result? You have to micro the heroes and barracks placements aggressively. I know this is part of the KR experiments in the previous installments, but there it was possible to beat the games without microing placements and “cheesing” enemies. Here, with default towers and heroes, not so much. The enemies don’t encourage much strategy of tower placements, the towers themselves are all too weak, the game is very poorly balanced and not fun to play. This is probably the second worst installment in the series, winning only over vengeance which had god awfully easy game. Other comments: 1. the art is much worse than the original games. Everything looks childish. 2. The vengeance style towers idea is terrible. It destroys late game strategy and the kingdom rush flair. Also, having “pay to win” towers feels very sleezy. Kingdom rush should instead: A) return to four towers with two tower upgrades at the end. For more variety, add level towers like the dwarf towers in KR frontiers. B) keep it at one hero per level (less micro) but add more heroes, and add spinning for heroes like a gambling system. Users can earn gems to spin for heroes or purchase them. Also heroes should level up in level so there is still late game strategy to hero placements. If ironhide wants more monetization, they can make it so you spin for a hero, and next time you spin it overrides the old hero. You can maybe have 2 slots for spinning, with more available for purchase. Then users will be rncourgrd to use gems more, but heroes won’t feel pay to win, since you can unlock them for free (but with stronger heroes being more rare). That is all my comments. To players: If you are looking for a good KR experience, don’t play this game. Play mods of OG KR like furious assault.
Prices Are Too High
Its a good game like always but for a mobile game its starting to feel like these games are getting greedy now with all the towers and heros plus dlc being at least 50$ this isn’t Microsoft

I love this game don’t get me wrong. But as you progress and the difficulty gets higher you start to see how virtually all the new towers and heroes are loved behind paywalls. Where as before you could get like half the towers unlocked, not you get the defaults and just one alternate of each basic type. I started noticing the problem when I realize I hav to use guides online to beat certain missions. I never had to do that before. The multiple ways of victory which allowed you before to play and rest different strategies are locked down to virtually just one on some of the later missions if you only have the default towers. I want to love this game but in an effort to make more money they made the game feel sweaty. 3$ for a new tower is crazy. And towers cost separate from the additional expansions too…wish it wasn’t so.

I grew up playing these games and now they’ve just become a typical money grab game, where everything costs extra. It’s an embarrassment to the gaming industry and it’s the downfall of pure gaming. I will never buy another game from you or add ons.

This is game is great and I mean it but they are kinda greedy. They make alot a dlcs instead of making more free levels. But atleast the dlcs are fun but they do cost more than the game soooooo yea . Also as the time im making this the sound doesnt work

I’ve loved all the Kingdom Rush games and played them all fully. I fully enjoy the mix of towers and swapping them out in this game. However….This “game” just feels like an ad. I’ve dropped a looooot of money on this, including what I thought would unlock all those pesky “available” maps, only to find it just unlocked towers I either already PAID for, or I’ll never use. No new levels. The map is FULL of unplayable levels because you have to buy them. It’s incredibly frustrating to buy a game, but almost $50 (probably more at this point honestly) and still have HALF the map unplayable. Severe disappointment to PAY for a game only to have it be an advertisement.

Long time Kingdom Rush fan here. Love all the games, including this one but boy oh boy you guys are really starting to get greedy by charging for all of the new content. I hope KR 6 won’t be like this but I have doubts.

Has some fun features, but ultimately it’s a money grab: utterly impossible to win without spending money for heroes and power ups. If they’d just charge $20 to download and make the game remotely winnable, it’d get five stars.

I put off buying this game for about 6 months based on the negative reviews. I have loved all the other entries, so I decided to finally get this one. For the price of not much more than a coffee, I have had hours of fun so far! It’s everything I’ve come to expect from Ironhide: great level design, artwork, upgrades, sfx, hidden achievements etc. Yes, you can pay for extra towers and heroes, but that’s always been the case. You don’t need to pay to complete the game. The additional campaigns do seem a bit expensive, but from what I have paid and played so far I am very happy! Thanks guys - solid 👊🏻
Too many pay walls
The game is too short to be a paid game. The other kingdom rush games have much better value. Additionally, it asks you to pay to unlock the DLCs that have like 5 extra levels. I’d rather just pay a little bit more for the base game and get everything rather than have all these extra opportunities to separate me from my money for barely anymore value.
Possible Bug
Not sure if it’s just me, but I’ve been experiencing some weird issues with gameplay. While in a level, everything will like slow down for a few moments, speed back up and then the process repeats. Love this series and the game so far, hopefully this can be fixed soon.
Great Vibe, But Lacks the Frontiers Challange
As a Kingdom Rush Frontiers fan, I went into this game with high hopes, and while it delivers a visually stunning and fresh experience, the core gameplay left me disappointed. The maps, heroes, towers, and hidden Easter eggs are all fantastic and beautifully designed. The two hero mechanic is top notch. However, if you are looking for a true tactical challenge, you won't find it here. Even on Veteran mode using only the free heroes and towers, the main campaign stages are surprisingly easy; once you figure out a few key tower patterns, you can simply spam them to clear every wave without much effort. Stages 14,15 and additional campaigns are the only ones with true challenge (took me a few restarts to beat). Yet, please keep the main campaign difficulty to difficult when it’s veteran.
Don’t bother, this is just greedy.
So, I sometimes use the Apple game thing to “demo” games and the Apple game thing has it where the ‘premium’ heroes can be unlocked via just playing through the game, so I figured here I could do the same thing. I bought the two dlc, and then noticed the game itself felt like a slog to play, I didn’t have much fun, and it half felt like with how often it was tossing the diamonds at me, the premium currency, that okay fine, it’s a game where I’m meant to grind. Kinda annoying that every time I go into the hero tab to upgrade I’m reminded of all the paid for heroes but it’s fine, I can unlock them by playing the game. No. You can’t. The premium heroes and towers are purely purchase, for the paid for version, while the arcade version you MUST beat the level that the hero is attributed to. The game isn’t fun, and after paying over twenty six dollars for just the dlc and base game, the game then demands you cough up another FIFTY DOLLARS for the premium heroes and towers. And I was even wondering why the towers felt so weak, compared to the DLC towers, cause I beat the entire game just spamming the dragon brood tower, cause it had a map-wide kinda mortar attack and a stun. And then it hit me that the reason why is cause it’s trying to make you get the premium stuff, to pay that extra 50 (cause buying the towers/heroes solo would be a bit of a waste when the bundles are 50% off, according to the store itself) and on top of that there’s also an option to buy the premium currency, which is used for these extra three slots on the lower right hand side… For anywhere from five bucks to a hundred dollars. I remember the original kingdom rush, how much fun it was, and iron marines was kinda…meh, with the other installments being either annoyingly hard or just so far out in left field it didn’t feel like the same game nor really worth playing. This one however? I never had a kingdom rush game actively make me hate it, never made me hate it enough that I actually come in and write a review for it. Yet here we are. This is by far one of the worst games I’ve ever played and it’s purely cause of the sheer greed. You want 50 dollars from me? Make a game worth that 50 dollars and not this microtransaction bs. Kingdom Two Crowns was a hell of a lot more fun, and a lot more simple, and I know from past installments that you can do better than this from the original games.
I miss the old kingdom rush

Limited towers - boring
Even after paying for the game there are very few towers to choose from unless you decide to you them. Game play becomes repetitive and monotonous very quickly. Not worth it. Just replay old ones!
Great game, greedy developers
I never really buy games on my phone and I definitely won’t after this. Normally when you pay money for a game most of everything is unlocked. NOT on this game. Beware if you’re looking to play the game and think that you’ll use most of every tower or character. You will if you have an additional $100 to spend on the game because other than the 3-4 towers and characters you’ll have to pay anywhere from $3-$7 for character/tower/arena. Honestly kind of ridiculous to me, if I buy a game I would want most of everything unlocked to me, instead I feel like I bought a ticket to a show I have to pay every artist individually just to hear the whole song. Basically 80% DLC. Love the game, don’t love that I need to pay more for a mobile game I already paid $6 to play.

Endless mode
Can I please ask when and if there will be an endless mode? I desperately need it, I even often return to earlier versions of Kindom Rush, just to play that mode

Enjoyed the game. Would’ve easily been a 5 star review but I paid SEVEN dollars for only a few days of game. Not worth the money or time in hindsight. Save your money.
Good evolution but…
I have been playing kingdom rush for more than 10 years and definitely one of my favorite games. I really like how the storytelling develops and enjoyed playing this one. However I must say that I found the game to be less hard than others. I also noticed that we need much more gold this time to properly improve towers and get abilities. Also I would appreciate if you put back the enemies encyclopedia like in early games. I found this a great resource and a bit sad you removed it in previous games.

No Endless Map,over 7 years waiting
Developer does listed to customers. The only thing we have been asking for the last 7+ years is an endless map. That’s it. It’s been promised and never delivered. They just want your money, they don’t listen to what customers want.

Monetization issues
The game is a fun play, sticks to the formula of the KR franchise and expands on it with new towers and content. KR has always limited certain hero’s behind a pay wall, although this never felt like to large of an issue as it wouldn’t impact how the game played. That being said, they have now limited towers behind an extra pay wall, and given that this game is a “tower defence” game, not being able to play with each tower after spending $10 feels greedy. Fun game, being ruined by to many pay walls.

Good game but need to allow players to get free gems somehow
Not like the originals
The greed in this game sickens me. Rather than having towers branch off into two different upgrade trees. Each tower just upgrades once, effectively cutting the versatility/strategy in half. They have been said replace this with a player being able to pick five different towers before entering a fight, so they can sell you new towers via micro transaction.
Decent
It’s decent, good graphics and really cool ideas with all the new towers but so far it’s kinda boring, I know it’s still being developed so hopefully it’ll be worth the 10 bucks by the end of development
Paywalled
This is easily the worst iteration of the game. 2/3rds of all towers and heroes are paywalled and what’s left is a boring, uninspired slog. Im a longtime fan and have played all versions, and I’m not even hating about the in-app purchases. The mechanics just suck.
Disappointing for the franchise
I’ve always been impressed with the Kingdom Rush games, but this one is a clear cash grab offering disproportionally less value than previous games at a higher cost. To me the level designs were not as cohesive and strategically interesting, and the art direction was not as refined as in previous instalments.
I found something else…
You can sort of see on the map that there is a cliff side underneath the cloudy areas and it was near the canyon of the cultists, I came up with another Idea (if you have time). The alliance goes to that cliff side to find a treasure and take it before some bandits or cultists try to find it before hand and use it for evil purposes, also you fight on the mountain. And I was also thinking instead of a 5 stage dlc, it’s one of those mini campaigns that are 3 levels. I’d honestly enjoy that and maybe some other fans!
Dragon war
The latest addition is impossible to win. No combination of towers, even fully maxed out before the first wave, can win. The absolute worst addon ever.
