This is the best app I have ever used to learn I have been using it since about 2022 and have been waiting so long for them to come out with more languages because the app is just that good it would truly be a dream come true 😭
계속 구독중이었고 오래 안들어가다가 오류났어요
일본어 학습 어플 중 제일 재밌게 하고 있습니다 특히 초보자가 하기에 너무너무 좋아요!! 근데 레벨이 중급까지인게 아쉬워요..고급 레벨도 추가해주시면 좋겠어요. 정기권까지 끊어서 하고 있는데 좀 더 어려운 레벨까지도 나온다면 계속 구독할 것 같습니다. + 장시간 못들어가다가 다시 시작하려고 들어가니 자꾸 로그인 오류나고 구독은 게속 유지중이엇는데 그간 공부한 자료들도 다 사라졌네요..짜증이나서 구독소까지 했는데 해결 안되면 그냥 다른걸로 갈아탈래요ㅠ 해결해주세요

Good, but a little frustrating if you can’t pay for a subscription
I got this app to learn Japanese and I really like the way it teaches so I was glad I found it but, after 16 lessons (including 6 for just the alphabets) you have to pay a subscription. Personally, I don’t have any money that I could use for this subscription so I was bummed until I found out if you save up enough coins you can buy a temporary subscription. I really wanted to keep using the app so, I did just that, I saved the required 180 coins for a 3-day subscription. It took a while because I could only get about 6 coins a day (I don’t know if there was a more efficient way) which I mostly get because I know running an app can be really expensive. I got through a fair amount of lesson in that 3 day period but didn’t retain a lot of information because it takes a while before something to sticks in my brain. I thought that I could just keep reviewing those lesson while saving up more coins to get another subscription, but you can’t. After the subscription period ends, you have absolutely no access to the lessons you did, you can’t replay them and you don’t have access to just the singular words for review. Like I said, I get running an app can be expensive but I’d rather just have ads if anything that way those who can pay can have an ad-free experience and those who can’t pay can still learn. Or, at the very least, still have access to lessons unlocked during a premium period.

구독 후 오류
1년짜리 구독하고 결제했는데 구매복원하려니 apple 구매 아이디와 계정이 일치하지 않는다고 합니다 apple 계정으로 로그인해도 동일하게 일치하지 않는다고 합니다 어떤 계정으로 로그인해도 일치하지 않는다고 구매복원이 안됩니다. 문의드린지 한참 지났는데 왜 며칠이 지나도 조치를 안해주시나요?

Very good for grammar and actually useful stuff but gets kind of fast!
Not bad
This is a pretty good app. However, I can only give it 2 stars. I am learning Korean. After a few lessons, I went ahead a bought the premium version because it was advertised that my learning tools would include learning Korean with comics (만화), characters and real life conversations. Unfortunately it’s only when learning Japanese, not Korean. Feels almost like a waste of money when I could’ve utilized another app for that feature like Memrise. Other than that, the lessons and audio aren’t bad. It’s just basic learning tool atp.
Good and bad
Overall I think this is a fun app, I had a play with the Japanese which I already know a fair bit of and thought it was great but not sure I can say how effective it would be for beginners due to my level, so instead I’ll focus on the Korean which I don’t know at all. Starting the Korean course and it proceeds to teach Hangul with image overlays and mnemonics which I think is fantastic and is the same way I learned hiragana and katakana over at Tofugu, it is by far the most efficient way to learn a non native writing system…. Though, unlike with Tofugu and other platforms there are a few things I think could be improved, for example when it’s teaching “ㅏ(a)” it says the following as the mnemonic “f*a*r away from home” with an image of a boy outside his home…. I find this style of mnemonic not useful at all and in general, any which include the spelling or sound mid way through a word which take more effort to locate in your mind vs than with no mnemonic at all, for example a far better mnemonic for “ㅏ(a)” would be something like, “ the *Archer pulled back the *arrow dead centre. He’s a champion but only when facing his right…blah blah blah” with an image of the archer overlaying the character in question, I mean this is just an example but it’s far more effective and easy to recall when the first letter is the same or has the same sound (even if not a perfect match) Unfortunately there is even more abstract images which are harder to associate with the character than it would be just to hammer home rote instead (for example the one with the tree etc) , all in all I think it’s a good system but some extra work and care needs to be taken here and i’d urge the devs to check out Tofugu for a better examples of how this should be done instead. Continuing along and i struggled when all of a sudden these characters/ components started appearing side by side, it kind of feels like something was glossed over somewhere along the way and i was a bit lost and also I didn’t really feel that secure in my knowledge of the individual Hangul up to that point either which didn’t help, now there is a section in later lessons which seems like perhaps it should come prior but being a beginner is not sure 🤷♂️ The app assumes you are an English scholar… I’m a native speaker and ashamed to admit it but I couldn’t tell you what the difference between a consonant and a vowel is or a noun or an adjective, most other apps these days assume we don’t know or have forgotten these common points after secondary school and explain as it goes but here I constantly have to refresh my memory elsewhere which is a touch annoying. Sometimes the app will say things like it’s “easy right” or other things of that overly enthusiastic nature when all the while your guessing or are stuck, so it just winds up making you feel a bit dumb, when if I’m being honest, usually in these situations it’s because the teacher is the problem or teaching method. I recall having a similar issue with a maths textbook which I needed to study for an exam which did similar things, turns out it was the author and teaching style which was the problem and switching books solved that issue :) . The audio is great, the scenarios are great, the interface is great. If what the other reviewers are saying is true about this being a continual subscription service only is true, then you couldn’t pay me to support this horrible practice (hopefully that has been changed) I’d sooner buy it outright or watch ads. So yeah, hopefully that gives a fair look at the app from a beginners perspective and the devs take this all as constructive :)
Amazing app for learning Japanese!
I am learning Japanese, but I’m sure my review applies to people studying Korean as well! Everything from the videos of native speakers to the questions and dialogues are very useful and have real world uses. It’s set up so you can master conversational basics quickly if you’re planning a trip in the near future. My favorite feature has to be the audio review feature, instead of listening to a podcast in the car or with your AirPods on around the house, you can review words and grammar/sentences you’ve already covered. On other apps (like the one with the bird) I felt like it was playing a game and after months felt like I didn’t learn much. YuSpeak is definitely better and different from all the other apps, because YuSpeak actually helps familiarize the user to hearing the language spoken and to understand it in order to respond back confidently and correctly. It starts you off easy with simple sentences but the progression in difficulty is natural and not overwhelming, plus it keeps reinforcing the topics you already covered while teaching you new ones. I highly recommend downloading YuSpeak, it has a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips for learning Japanese and resources such as stories to read based on language level and as I mentioned before hands free audio reviews of the material you’ve already covered.
자동 구독 갱신 후 어플 사용 제한
최근 구독 자동 갱신된 후 오랫만에 들어 왔는데 과거 학습 이력 다 사라져서 처음부터 다시해야 하며 애플 아이디와 어플 계정이 일치하지 않는다면서 프리미엄 구독 갱신한 것이 전혀 반영되고 있지 않습니다. 이 무슨 어이없는 상황인가요? 빨리 해결해 주세요!!!

English Translations ☹️
The English translations aren’t very good. They’re not terrible but it seems like they used Ai to do literal translations. I also don’t enjoy the text input method. The interface isn’t very attractive either.

I love the app its amazing but for me or for some reason some of the audio is not working or something Some of the audio i cant hear and therefore i dont know how to answer the questions And example would be in the first section “to chase” i dont know the answer because they did not speak the words so im not sure which characters to use

I really love this it was informative and fun and the nemonic’s really helped me remember some made me laugh cause that’s not how the sounds go in English however I understood the connotation, context and connection so it still works. And once I got the hang of it I don’t have to think so much and can just remember! Thanks for the great app! It’s literally my first time trying this app and I feel like I really learned, understand and can retain. Great job! Thanks for your hard work it’s really paying off! Btw I’m doing both the Japanese and Korean without any problems. I can wait to move to the readers and other resources you have provided!!! If you one day even add Mandarin I could hit the trifecta lol

Great app, better than alternatives. Lacking sync between devices
This app feels like an hybrid between proper Japanese course and gamified similar apps that are pretty useless for any real learning. The quality of the material is good and the packaging is cute into little stories. But it lacks syncing between devices, or the syncing is broken, both my IPhone and my IPad (using the IPhone app) have YuSpeak and it doesn’t sync, which is annoying since I use both devices equally. Also it would be nice to get an official IPad app!

I’m writing this review. I’m very sleepy. I can’t think of a bunch of flowery words to describe the experience. I enjoy this app and it’s teaching me a lot and I really enjoy the little comic book things they do.
Paywall is introduced too soon.
I really enjoyed the app. It was the best way to learn Japanese for me, way better than Duolingo. However, I cannot progress through the app any further due to there being a paywall a little after the second course (Beginner II) where after that point, all of the lessons are locked. I cannot, for literal reasons continue to using this app, and I was very excited to finish as well. I am very disappointed that I came so far only for me to never continue again…

I thought it was free until it wasnt why wasnt we notified before cant you guys make a subscription forever im underage nd cant afford this cant belive it so disappointed ☹️ i still love the app tho i might have to convince my parents for the year one though i would have preferred a lifestime one but idk 🥲
Most consistent Korean app ever
This app is already great, but if you could add dark mode I’d really appreciate it. Oh and make it support a horizontal layout would also be so helpful! Especially to make the mac experience better for schooling. Other than that this app gets an easy 5/5!
Worst Experience Ever
I installed the app cause I want to learn Japanese and love anime. Thought it’d be fun to learn the language with the help of my favourite anime characters. I open the app and I can’t even sign up.
Good grammar
I learned a lot of grammar from this app that I didn’t with others so I recommend it based on that. I stopped using it once I hit the paywall, which is a shame cause I felt like I was learning. I also like the review feature. My biggest complaint is the video recordings. It’s a good idea but the quality of the videos are so bad that it is hard to understand what the people are saying. A native speaker might understand what they are saying right away but as a learner, I usually had to replay the video multiple times and turn the volume waaaaayyy up.

Really enjoying YuSpeak for grammar and comprehension, I’m a paying subscriber. However it seems strange that the kanji training appears in the lessons only, with no way to review progress, or practise writing, except for retaking a lesson. Could this be added in a future update?

This app is just getting started, but it’s amazing! They have everything together and are making updates regularly. YuSpeak is from the creators of Hello Chinese. When this app has reached full maturity it will surpass LingoDeer in every way.
