What people like
- Setup is quick and easy
- Colors look great and bright
- Works well with Alexa devices
What they complain about
- Connectivity drops randomly and often
- New app is harder to use
- Forced update broke old features
It’s outstanding!
I held off on upgrading this app since the moment they introduced it. All I saw were issues with connection and disconnection, and it was perpetual. Recently the old app just stopped working and it’s a result of the company, forcing that so I upgraded, and I could not be happier. Slick interface with categorized options and a Govee feeling somewhat. I love it.
No Bluetooth control without internet connection
Want to use the bulbs with internet connection? Find a different device and app.
UI needs an upgrade
Firstly, I want to say Wiz’s products are an incredible bargain when it comes to lighting. The depth of the colors and warmth they provide are so much better than other competitors in their price range. My only gripe is the UI. I think it still needs some more work. Also the moods and vibes of the pre selected colors can be better too. I think they should lean into more stuff like the “Cozy” and “Relax”
Janky
Trash app decides when it wants to function and that’s only half the time
Got rid of vacation mode and rhythms don’t work
Don’t know why they are forcing the transition to v2 when the improvements are ??? I prefer the original API. Vacation mode was great, but doesn’t exist in v2. Spent a lot of time trying to fake vacation mode with rhythms when I was rushing to leave town and found that the v1 was complaining about it (no reason why). Upon returning from our vacation it was clear that rhythms were not working as advertised, even though they were all enabled. Wish Wiz was as easy and reliable as it used to be…
Amazing
I have Hue lights for years and love them but these has made connecting easier and quicker to do
Worst app/bulbs ever
I bought 3 smart bulbs a few years ago. They worked beautifully on the v1 app. But the v1 app was no longer supported so I was forced to download v2. Now the bulbs won’t connect to the new app. Don’t waste your money on these bulbs b/c the designers will make them obsolete in the near future even though there’s nothing wrong with the bulbs. Shop elsewhere!
Doesn’t work with old bulbs
I have some older WiZ bulbs that worked great. The old app forced me to upgrade to the new app. After about 6 attempts to get the old bulbs to work including deleted and reinstalling I have given up. Will def avoid this brand on the future. Fortunately the lights still turn on and off like a regularly light bulb.
Prefer the old app
Just too would like to make my scenes and be done. Please allow a revert option to version 1.
It’s ok
Nightlight is still too bright and doesn’t hold last saved position. The entire app shouldn’t be this hard. The old app was better.
Top app
Great app, great devices really like these around the house
One step forward, two steps back.
Where is vacation mode?
Great Recess Lights/Night Light Mode/Multiple colors
I love these lights! We got the Halo 5/6 Recessed lights and have done our hallway and breakfast nook! The lights are easy to install and the setup was so easy! Plenty of colors and I’m in love with the night light feature! They are expensive$42 a pop and I think they are a little over priced. $32 is more on par. Also you can’t use these lights if the lights are on a dimmer switch. I wish there was a way to get around that but we actually removed the dimmer switch and installed a regular switch after we bought the first set because I enjoyed them so much! They are sleek and classy and well made! I haven’t had any issues with the app at all!
They never connect to the app
Whenever I try to turn them off from my phone the app doesn’t connect to the lights
Old app was better
I’m not sure why they updated the app. After years of little to no updates I would expect new features or light modes but the only thing that changed is the app is now more difficult to use and less user friendly.
Me encanta
Esto es muy útil para un hogar cuando quieres cambiar de luz es genial
Doesn’t work as advertised
This app is amazingly frustrating. If you chose this life to be frustrated this app is for you.
Love these lights but one thing.
I love how bright they are. But i think it would be amazing if you could make them WAY more dim than what is currently possible.
Light bulb
Every time the power blinks you have to redo everything for the light bulb
Reset challenge
Old tablet controlling light died. Only got one of two lights reconnected. Second light will not rejoin group.
I love WIZ
A real game changer for your comfort!!! plus it’s so much fun for the kids to have a full flashing party house !
V2 worse than original app
Please revert back to v1 simple main menu/home page control panel. Like many others, I was forced to download a new app (v2) and why on earth did they have to make something as simple as turning on a light bulb or swapping colors have more steps than necessary. The original app was far superior. It was straightforward, easy to use, and the Home Screen laid everything out perfectly. I used it for years and only switched after my first purchased bulb died (it lasted about 3 years of daily use) and v1 would not allow me to update the room anymore. This new app alone makes me want to not repurchase these bulbs after they die.
Best so far
I’ve had a much better experience from wiz (and related devices) than other brand combinations. I do wish they would include more precise control of fixtures in the app. Maybe a separate page of controls for “easy” vs “advanced” operation?
App not working
After months of using the app, it doesn’t work now. Very disappointed!
Works but annoying UI
UI keeps getting more confusing every update
Colorful
User friendly
Why make it worse?!
The original app worked great. I tried a schedule with this one….lights are still on. Ridiculous they had to change apps
Random disconnect
Random lights disconnect they still work but they’ll disconnect and won’t change in the app and is a pain to get reconnected
Old app was better
I really like this brand and the lights were amazing. However, the new app is not as good as the old one.
Stupid system
Won’t let me use schedule the lights in my office/ bedroom as I’m not the main user. Stupid system. Husband in hospital and I can’t stop it.
WiZ setup
Very easy to setup and works like charm
Please stop asking for reviews
Everytime I open the app I get asked for a review. So here you go.
User Control Required
This app would get five stars if WIZ would allow user control of IP address during setup. Many routers and APs are now going to IPv6 and WIZ must recognize this and allow user control.
2.4GHZ
Good luck if you don’t have this frequency of WiFi cause it doesn’t work otherwise
Needs some improvement to be better
Many errors. Might be the light bulbs but there is just no consistency in the connection. Lights turning off and on not in line with the pre-set schedule.
Great product
I love the Halo Slim Edge 6 lights. The app works very well and easy to setup.
Terrible
Worked for a couple months. No longer will connect.
Improved!
I had tried this app when it got released and the migration from the old one was a total pain and it didn’t work so I reverted to the old one and gave up on it! Reinstalled it now and it found all my lights instantly and works fine now!
Asking to update
Downloaded lates version yet it asking to update the app.. ridiculous
good but not so good
so my mom just brought these lights and shes the owner on the app im 17 and im trying to try out new things that i can tell my mom about and stuff but i cant do anything due to not having the owner right i feel like you should add an option where theres edit rights for anyone the owner choose because i understand you wouldnt want kids just messing with things but yeah that would be greatly appreciated if that feature could be added please
Bought 3 Year’s Ago
Honestly I don’t really care about led lights and feel like there are 100s of other options but I’m loyal. I like this one I wish there were more unique colors but it’s cool.
Horrible!
Keep getting network error. Wiz 1 won't accept FORCED passkey, Wiz 2 sends a scan code to the same device I'm using. Tried another device, Wiz 2 tells me to go back to the first device. First devices tells me scan again. Wiz 1 was working flawless for 5 years now this. Hate it
Ok most of the time
Occasionally one particular lamp tends to lose online connection, though I can easily reconnect.
Picks when to work
One minute light works, next minute it doesn’t. Rebooting WiFi and even trying to re add light after 20 times doesn’t do the trick. Try to click help and you get left within a chat that you can’t get back to when you leave to check things. Or it says more in next update. When light is connected works great. Other than that disappointing.
Not the best app
Difficult to pair up. Could be better!!
Amazing great app
Love this app so much 5 stars
The old app worked
The old app just worked. This one? Nope. Have to adjust to 2.4ghz. How many texh savvy people does it take to install a light bulb?
Use the app for smart plugs
App works to set timers and schedules for smart plugs. A little complicated but once set up works well with Alexa devices. I would give an extra star if I was able to input electricity tariff to see monitor usage.
Broken shortcuts
After the latest app update all of my iOS Wiz shortcuts have stopped working and I can no longer control the lights in one of my two homes at all / not even directly in the app. Not impressed!
Great when it works.
The bulbs and app are great when they work. Connects well with Alexa. That is until an update disconnects the bulbs from the network. Then the problems start. The app is not helpful and has progressively got worse in my opinion. I have two bulbs and when they are disconnected have to put them back as new devices. The app recognises that the bulbs are there and recovery of previous settings doesn’t happen. Then trying the manual pairing is just tedious and frustrating, I’ve wasted hours each time this happens. When finally connected the bulbs are handy and do what we want but to get there is such a bind. I would not knowingly buy a Wiz product again.
