Stupid hard braking algorithm
Overly sensitive to braking. Example, Today I got hard braking of 25 mph in 5 seconds. Yep driving down my street and 61 yards from my driveway I started to slow down. That was pretty reckless of me. Should have started my deceleration at least a football field away. Stupid.

Way too sensitive
Got the app for a discount on my insurance. It works well for the most part, but they don’t tell you that your phone cannot be in your pocket (it counts as using it). The app is also inconsistent when it comes to braking. Sometimes even a gentle brake is flagged as hard braking. The way hard braking is rated as worse than speeding or using your phone while driving is also a bit odd. If I wasn’t so close to the coveted 91 days, I’d be done with it. This isn’t worth it for getting a good driving discount. The developers have quite a bit of work to do.
Overly Sensitive and makes assumptions
I object to the fact that an app has no idea what is actually happening. For instance I was marked down for hard braking (the reason was a semi pulled right in front of me forcing me to brake hard, reacting I check the second lane and accelerated to go around and I was “”dinged” by the application. I have a dash cam to prove this but the app just lowered by discount and score without knowing the facts. If you drive a I 80 you know how aggressive truckers can be.
Great Perspective
I love it!
Doesn’t work properly
Had a notification of “hard braking” when brakes weren’t even applied. Immediately deleted this as it will not accurately reflect the true driving. Very suspicious and not worth being tracked
Rating
The problem with the app is that it’s too sensitive and breaking, especially if you’re using the adaptable cruise and a vehicle breaks harder than you would if you were in the control of the breaking, also you can get whacked for speeding just because you didn’t lower your speed quick enough when the speed zones were changed, still needs a little tweaking
Hard braking detection is far too aggressive
This app could be useful, but it is completely ruined by how overly sensitive the hard braking detection is. Absolutely frustrating. If you are driving the speed limit and have to stop for a yellow light, you will get a hard braking EVERY TIME. If this app has taught me anything it is to accelerate through every yellow light I come to - exactly the opposite of the safe driving behavior the app should be encouraging.
Hard Braking needs better programming
This app is pretty good overall. The only issue is the hard braking measurement. My friend and I have been testing it, and it’s not consistent. Many times, what we considered normal braking was flagged by Street Smart as hard braking. The current programming doesn’t seem realistic.
5 stars
Good idea
This app sucks
The app is too sensitive. It constantly says I’m using my phone when I’m driving. If you drive in a populated area, the app does not work. If you have to deal with pedestrians, construction, other drivers, homeless people, animals etc. You are penalized for avoiding accidents. Let’s say a homeless guy jumps off the curb and you use your brakes instead of running him over, you are penalized as being a bad driver.
Sometimes Too Sensitive
Sometimes I get a hard brake when there was no hard brake. They told me I had the iPhone in the wrong position. WTF
Instructive
App gives great feedback on my driving and ways to improve
Mostly good
Every once in a while they make a mistake, but you can object and they will check it out. I think they are too hasty with dinging you for braking: I have a couple of lights that are quicker turning than normal and there have been times that another driver cut me off; I still get dinged (even though a quick breaking is better than an accident!)
Easy to label every trip
The app is straightforward to use and help me drive better.

More fun than you’d expect
When I first downloaded the app, the sensitive to braking was annoying. After a while though the score adjusts to seem reasonable and you even start to challenge yourself on drives - almost like a live video game making the app more fun than expected.
It’s about time
It’s about time good drivers get rewarded!
Thankful for the accountability
It’s a great reminder. Thankful it keeps me in check given how driving can feel so habitual and not intentional at times. I do wish it had a way to let it know if others use your phone while you’re driving.
1st Review
Using this app almost feels as if there’s someone sitting on my shoulder, monitoring my driving ability and that’s not a bad thing. My only frustration is how it rates my speed because sometimes just keeping up with traffic puts me over the speed limit.
Keeps me mindful
This app is helpful to keep me aware of how I’m driving.
Great app
Love the app. It really helps you pay attention to your driving habits.
Good so far
I wish I did this a long time ago. My only complaint is is getting a lower score for breaking if someone pulls out in front of you, or when the speed limit is only 30 miles on a busy street. I end up with 10 cars behind me, people passing me and beeping their horn because I’m only doing like 35. That’s annoying. I get some neighborhoods are 25 to 30 mph but some should definitely be more than 30 when it has two lanes and lots of traffic
So Easy
Just drive and earn discounts
Good app, seems accurate for the most part.
Great to use but the notifications when signing in or out can be annoying
