What people like
- Helps you save money on charging
- Easy to use for most people
- Customer service actually resolves issues
What they complain about
- Login fails constantly after updates
- App disconnects from car randomly
- No phone support available at all
- Charging stops and never restarts
Love this
Easy to use and save a lot of money
Poorly thought through process
Initial set up is slightly challenging however, if you ever need to replace your charging hardware, there is no way to do this through the app or on their website. Their Chatbot online is almost useless, and there is no phone number to call.
App struggles to refresh
The app really struggles to refresh data. For example car has been plugged in for a couple of hours but the app says 70% charged lasted updated 2 days ago. No matter what I do it just doesn’t refresh the info. Maybe a dedicated refresh button
Not all the time
Some days change it from one vehicle to another it will not charge overnight 😢
What was in the notification?
When the power company announces a peak event, the ev.energy app produces a notification mentioning as much. Often this notification truncated but clicking on the notification just opens an app where you cannot read what was in the notification anymore while also clearing the notification from the iOS Notification Center. The app needs to have a message center where notifications can be read after the fact.
Great App
Before the new app, it was terrible, now it’s great
Not working
The worst app
Suggestion
Love this program but I think the app should show me, on a daily or weekly basis, how I am doing meeting my charging goal.
Stuck in away from home charging
My last 3 charge sessions all display ‘away from home’ despite my vehicle plugged in at my home. This has to be due to a recent update in the app.
Decent app. Needs improvement
It basically does what it’s supposed to, but there are weak spots. 1: When “Smart” charging, if the app stops charging and schedules it to restart at a later time, it NEVER restarts the charging. I’ve had to drastically change what time I want the charge finished so it doesn’t stop after I go to bed. Otherwise, when I get up and ready to go, the app didn’t restart the charging, and the car isn’t charged to the percentage I was expecting. 2: A recent update seems to have removed the estimated charging costs for each charge. I have my rate added, and up until recently, it would give me an estimated cost of each charge, based on that rate. My rate is still in the app, but my charging costs are no longer displayed. 3: The app’s “chat with us” feature is garbage. You’re not actually getting to chat at all. It’s just a series of pre-written questions, with set answers, and the answers don’t always correctly answer the question you selected, with no recourse other than selecting “this solved my issue”
Ability to log in broken
This app worked well, for a few days. After the most recent update, I can no longer log in. Every attempt to log in is met with a generic “an error occurred while logging in” message. Resetting my password, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and trying the app on a different device don’t fix this issue. This means I can’t turn smart charging on or off, enable boost charging, or access any other controls. My car stopped charging several times when I needed it to be charging due to the fact I can’t access ev.energy’s controls.
So buggy
So many bugs. Before, it couldn’t log some of my charging sessions. Now, it wouldn’t even let me log in. A waste of time. Update 08/07/2026. The developer claimed that the bug has been fixed in the comments. But I am still getting exactly the same error message.
Worst app update ever
They really phoned it in with this app update. It now requires a 6-digit code to login every time which is bad enough. But it only goes through email, which is clumsy, and it does not work with the iPhone’s auto populating feature. Every other app in creation can go one button tap to fill in an authorization number. Fix this. Also, who does your UI? Clearly nobody who’s ever read a book on the subject. After recommending back my vehicle to your system, I am greeted with a screen that lists my vehicle and proudly states that there are no vehicles to add. Confusing and dumb. And the worst new feature I saved for last. My car is now being disconnected from your service multiple times per day. Which means I have to go through this brain dead process over and over just so I can get credit for charging my car during off-peak hours. This morning I woke up and saw a message from 6:30 am saying my vehicle was disconnected (it’s Sunday morning). I reconnect the car and it didn’t even give me credit for last night’s charging, which is the whole reason I go through this arcane process. I suggest you do a bit of soul searching and hire some real humans who understand the HUMAN INTERFACE experience to redesign and code this app. And while you’re at it, fix your database so it stops disconnecting people, unless you are actually trying to sabotage the rebate program.
Wanted to like it but it’s buggy - at least with teslas
This app is unreliable - my car often stops charging randomly for seemingly no good reason. This happens with both a model y and 3. Also charging doesn’t always start reliably. Basically I have to monitor this app defeating the whole purpose of it. My cars would never just randomly stop charging w/out using this app. A major missing functionality is to set a range of hours that the car can charge during. The way it’s currently implemented with a charge by time cause all sorts of issues. For example if you set the charge by time to noon and then plug the car in at 12:30 pm it will wait until the next day to charge which is not what I want given that I’m off peak until 4pm. And if I try to set the charge by time to 4pm it won’t start charging until a few hours before 4 even though my non peak time starts at 8am. I really wanted to like this app as my power company gives me a rebate to use it - but its implementation details need significant improvement. And yes I have reached out to support for these issues. They were not helpful as these issues are due to a lack of control and functionality and also due to bugs in the software itself.
Great but
Cannot sign in. It keeps telling me my account info could not be loaded. Try again. I’ve been trying for over a week. I uninstalled the app and changed my password and even tried signing up as new but it has a record of my email and account and tells me to sign in. Nothing in the app has any useful info for fixing the issue so I’m not sure how to use the app if I can’t sign into my account.
Excellent app
This app help us save money. Charge your vehicle and get rewards.
Broken login
Worked for a week now I can’t login. Even resetting the password and reinstalling doesn’t work. Looks like the update broke something! UPDATE ITS STILL BROKEN EVEN THOUGH CHRIS SAYS ITS FIXED
Great app but…
I have noticed when you change via octopus intelligent go (smart charging) your app shows the full peak rate and not the discounted rate that octopus change when they choose to charge the car.
No warning when connection is lost
Woke up to an uncharged car yesterday. Despite upgrading my wifi to ensure my charger is easily in range, and working fine for months, when the charger dropped off this app didn’t notify me or warn me. I’ve reported this before and seems so easy to fix. The app calmly tells me that the charger is offline when I look - surely it could send an alarm to notify me? Every EV owner’s nightmare is waking up to an uncharged car - so this is fundamental.
It works, but UI could be better
This app works, but the UI makes it difficult to answer simples questions like “When will my vehicle start charging?” For example, the message “Not charging - No smart charge planned or being delivered” is shown immediately after plugging in my vehicle during peak hours. But this isn’t actually correct - I’m using Eversource managed charging, and charging will in fact start during off-peak hours. I wish the app would be clearer about this and differentiate it from the condition of “Your car is plugged in, but something is wrong with managed charging and it will not start charging later tonight” which has also happened to me a couple of times.
Ap
Very nice app
Can’t login and can’t adjust schedule!
I needed to login to adjust the schedule and boost the charge but the app fails upon login. I am unable to adjust the schedule or set a one time charging session. While this app is great in concept, it all falls apart when users cannot login to make any adjustments. Please fix. My kids depend on a fully charged car to get around town.
Nice app with smart charge rewards.
The app works great. No issues syncing to my charger and using the smart charge features. Have already redeemed a £5 Amazon voucher just for charging my car over night. I have had one issue since migrating my EO Mini Pro 3 over to the new EV app. Occasionally the charger displays a red light. The only way to clear it is to power cycle the charger. There seems to be no pattern to the fault but it has only started to happen since the charger updated to latest firmware.
Rivian charger support
Better if Rivian cheer was supported
Easy to use, great program
Have been using EV Energy for over 2 years now. I find the app intuitive and very easy to use. Am a big fan of this system for leveraging power access with the grid in both directions. Time to dump big oil and transfer subsidies to EVs!
Disappointing
The app constantly disconnects so I never get the rebates that should come with a peak charging. There seems to be no way to talk to a person and fix this. Help
Decent reward program
Not without its quirks but overall is a good app and reward program. The description and benefits of some settings could definitely be expanded on but customer service responds and typically resolves issues
Ottima app
Metto 3 stella perché da qualche giorno la lingua italiana è sparita
Best
Very happy for found
Awful app
This is the most non intelligent app (they claim they have an algorithm—PLEASE) to monitor. Listen when I plug in the charger at work where I have free charging and not at home it should know and charge on priority not on some poorly implemented scheduler in the app. If there was no monetary benefit or rebates I would get rid of this app right away. There is no reason to create stress to the user when the user plugs it in with intention to charge and the app forces the vehicle to not charge. At least implement a popup to override whenever plugged in. That simple—than some “algorithm” that is poorly developed.
Scheduled charging bear with it
Scheduled charging works but be mindful that the first time you try it there will be a delay in the schedule telling the car not to charge when you plug the car in advance. First time was 8 minutes then less than 2 minutes. This is using the EO genius 3 charger. Time will tell whether the delay remains low otherwise u will be paying extra each time u plug your car in.
Latest update is broken
No longer able to change time for car to be ready by, locked at 6am. Also, unable to change price over 19p which for Octopus Agile users is a nightmare to work around when prices in the evening are higher. Was previously a 99p limit (which is not needed, 30p is enough)
Real Value System
Absolute user friendly and value for money
Login doesn’t work
I’m using emporia, but the google login with the app says google not allowed for emporia.
Slavishow
It’s all good but need some upgrading!!!
Didn’t work as advertised
The app started a session at the wrong time of day, even though I had “smart charging” activated. Vehicle-specific instructions would be helpful.
They sell your info
Do not download. The very next day after downloading this app, I received 5 sales calls about my car. Sooooo misleading and false advertising. There is nothing special or different about the info they offer, infect has less chargers listed then Apple Maps. Save your privacy and don’t download.
Scammers
Used to phish
Hallelujah - progress
At last….. a screen that shows the plug in status. It lets me check that the charge will 100% start as the App can see the charger plugged into the car. I still don’t trust the ‘Smart’ element as the last time I enabled it, it started charging outside of the discount period. If you can now do something with the startup screen. It’s dull as dishwater and doesn’t inspire you to explore the App. Bin the rewards, nobody is interested and make smart charging work properly, you’ll get 5 stars
Great App
For the OGs this is like a continuation of smartcharge New York. Really cool UX on this app. Helps me see how much I saved from my smart charging rewards. Thankfully a cousin of mine told me about it because since the smart charge transition I haven’t been getting rewards. Thank you!
Bmw capcha failure
Cant connect to mybmw. Capcha states network sent to many request. Tried more then 10 times over the last week
Aborted smart charges
The app has been excellent, at least until this week. Each night I have set it for its usual smart charge but it has only delivered a small amount and then stopped charging well before the cut-off time. This has left the car only half charged in the morning. Has anyone else had this problem?
