From Ok to Bad
Firstly, so car 2 you service never works. 2 consecutive times no one delivers . End up you have to grab to the car and the hustle of claiming reimbursement. Secondly, rejecting your claims for fuel stating reasons like the final receipt is required and my receipt is prepaid like a deposit and cannot be used . You have a system to monitor the fuel balance right ?? You can’t gauge how much fuel was pumped ?? I paid the counter 50 rm and drove off after refueling 50 rm . You still want what final receipt ?? I’m giving up on so car
Good experience
I rent SOCAR because my car was broke down and sent for service for few days. So far my experiences with SOCAR is quite satisfied. The app is very user friendly. Location of SOCAR is really depends on your area, some are far and some are close depends on your luck. But I really do hope can improve on the conveniency because of the return to the same spot policy is a bit troublesome sometimes. I understood that you have another option for pickup service but will it be better if we return to a SOCAR location as well instead of return back to the same spot? Hopefully will have EV cars soon in SOCAR.

Some improvements
The concept of SoCar is actually good. I don’t have to deal with car owners, and a system-based car rental definitely reduces some man-made mistakes. However, the app really needs to be improved. 1. The lock and unlock car interface is not very user-friendly. They should put text under the icons as well. For example, I thought clicking the emergency icon would call an emergency hotline or something, but after trying many times, I only realized that it was for turning on the hazard lights 😐 2. The smart key system also needs improvement. I’ve read many comments about being unable to connect the Bluetooth to the car, and I thought maybe those users were just unlucky. It turns out I faced the same issue and had to contact their agent to refresh the lock/unlock system 🙄 3. I feel like the app could perform better because some features and functions are not easy to understand. For example, when requesting car collection, I didn’t know what to do after submitting the request and making the payment. Should I wait for an agent to be assigned, or can I click “Return Now” right away? The flow is unclear. 4. Other than these issues, thank you for the fast response when the car broke down. The customer service team was able to arrange a replacement car and resolve the situation within one hour, which was good. However, perhaps the customer service team could exercise more common sense. I sent a photo showing that the tyre was completely flat due to a puncture, yet I was still asked to drive to a petrol station to pump the tyre and check whether it was really punctured 🙄(luckily i rejected the request)

It’s quite annoying when u keep guessing which time is able to rent a car. Please mention or show the time that’s available to rent. Or provide more car please So far I really like this apps. Please no more disappointments.
Super Late Reimbursements
Most available cars for rent have below 50% fuel left. But the app requires users to return cars with above 50%. Meaning most of the time you end up having to refuel the car before returning it. Even though the app promises to reimburse fuel costs, it does so in an intentionally annoying and scummy manner. They only reimburse your money after 7-14 working days but in reality you best believe they will make you wait until the last day to reimburse you which can mean up to 3-4 weeks of waiting, and this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME. It is really annoying and they know it but they do so because they want you to opt in for their app wallet for reimbursements. And of course, you can only use that money on their services! Oh yeah did I forget to mention they will reimburse you literally in ONE single day if you choose this method instead of waiting for 3 weeks? But don’t worry this is entirely unintentional and not designed in a way to rig you from your own money you paid as a favor to them !!! I wonder why most people end up returning the cars with lower than 50% fuel not following the app rules ?

I bought new iphone 17pro max. This app drain battery slowly upon usage during car rental. I need to navigate and use this app for lock n unlock

Poor Apps
Got an error when returning car, and the stupid apps force you to go thru robo FAQ which you have to go through 3 questions before they will direct you to a livechat. Else u can keep going round and round. Stupid process. And they immediately charge u RM50 late fee for an error in their apps. Best is most of the cars u rent, all are below half tank, which they will expect u to use the time u rent the car to top up fuel for them. No more renting fr you!

Almost cant get home. after reach the destination suddenly the apps got blank screen, luckily i can install on my other phone

Bad Platform with Bad Service
Before we rent the car, we already heard that mostly car from SOCAR is very old car. Inside the Apps, they don’t even dare to show real photo/actual car photo in the apps. We rented the Tiguan Allspace from JB, the car’s absorber got problem. Then I reached KL and request the car replacement, they did change for me. The second car I received, the dashboard showing EPC signal. I request again to ask them to delivery a replacement car, but the claimed that only new booking can do the car delivery service, so they expected me to drive the problem car on road to done the replacement? You have to spend your own time to help them settle the problem, as the replacement only can be done for new booking. What a good solution. Furthermore, they don’t even have 1 time apologies at all. Lastly, if you don’t even really check or do good maintenance for your car, by periodically, please don’t do car rental services, close it as this is putting people’s life in danger , and wasting people’s time

Tapping on the notifications always make SoCar app open a website and redirect me to App Store page.. i already have socar app installed why are you doing this?
User friendly app
It is user friendly and bug free. As a new user, the learning curve to use the app is close to zero. All the tools u need to use the service is in the app. Kudos!

Can't book for later date
The app is ridiculous. I can't set a starting date other than "today". Either it is a bug or just plain dumb. Not user friendly and messy.

I recently rent a toyota yaris near bukit indah, the interior smell musty and there were these notorios tiny roaches you get with abandoned squalid cheap lodging. Needless to say the drive was unpleasant to the max. By the way those roaches were called german roaches as these pest are hard to get rid off!
Not worth the $
Easy to use, but don’t bother requesting dasher. Had one incident where the “dasher schedule overlapped” and SOCAR cancelled the delivery but it still showed on my app that it was gonna be delivered. They then offered to reimburse my grab for pick up the car myself as well as the time lost, but til date I haven’t received the refund. Wanted to give another chance to book for a long trip and have book checking on and off but recently the app is not loading anymore. Thank god I haven’t booked it yet, else I probably would’ve lost the money.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Poor Service & Irresponsible Customer Support
I had a very disappointing experience with this app. The service itself was below expectations, but what stood out most was the completely unprofessional and irresponsible behavior of the customer service team. After being hit with unexpected extra charges, I reached out to clarify the situation. Despite providing a full explanation, I received no proper response or resolution. Instead of addressing the issue, the customer service team repeatedly threatened legal action if I did not pay the charges—without offering any meaningful dialogue or support. It felt like they were using intimidation tactics rather than offering real customer support. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially when users are trying to communicate in good faith. I would strongly caution others before using this app. A service that resorts to threats instead of responsible customer care is not one I can trust or recommend.
