Great app
It's great but there is some issues: 1. I'm using it on ipad pro m4 but using some tools (especially when brush size is big) make the app laggy. 2. Apple pencil's barrel roll doesn't work. 3. There isn't a option to draw smooth lines. In most of the time lines are jittery.
Cute
For the price, fine, and it looks neat. It doesn’t mix paints realistically, but as with most, essentially rgb. It is unlike the pigmented “mixbox” K&M style color mixing like in Rebelle Pro (not on ipad), or Artstudio Pr.
Circle tool problem
Thank you for finally updating the app to support Apple Pencil Pro hover. There is a problem with the compass (circle tool)— when I try to move the circle guide it snaps back to the center. And trying to change to an ellipse doesn’t stay, it snaps back to a circle.
Speaks to artists
I started using this app years ago and I immediately felt a connection. It speaks to the artist in me. It feels like real organic media it looks like real organic media. It doesn’t rely on aI or fancy filters or cloning tools. It just forces one to be creative and i appreciate that. Imagine employing the Eufy Make E1 printer to print works done in this app and actually printing raised textured brush strokes. How cool is that?
High hopes dashed
Frustrating. It is a digital program with limited help. The paint doesn’t flow on the canvas, I can’t find an eraser, you can’t rotate the canvas (at least I can’t find a way to), I don’t understand how to mix paint, and on and on…..
Decent, but needs improvement
Would have been great if there were some settings for the brushes and canvases. As far as realistic painting programs go this one is better than most iPad apps I have tried so far, but it still might not be suitable for a more serious painting.
Hidden purchases
I like the app although the response time on an iPad Pro 12 (2021) is much slower than expected. The irritation that every implement costs to purchase is hidden and makes the total app not cost effective relative to other apps.
I wish I could rate this 5 stars but..
This app is amazing and the tutorial section alone is worth it personally... when it works. The app crashes way too much without any autosaving. I wish there was an option menu to lower settings or turn off functions, such as having lower resolution images of the tools, in order to run it better.

Very realistic. So much so that it feels off putting lolol but I eventually found my love for the feel. My only complaint is that I cannot figure out how trip but the special brushes!!! Please ttyl me hope and I will change my rating to 5 stars.

Tweaks needed but solid
We’ve paid for the desktop version and were thrilled to see that it got an App Store port: solid app if your not looking for all the bells and whistles something like the desktop only rebelle will get you. Our biggest wishlist to the dev team is a gradient tool and bigger brush sizes- atm it’s a pain to fill a page with a wash that serves as that “first coat” in an illustration because the brushes just aren’t big enough to do it quickly with minimal strokes. This in turn makes it a chore to block in shapes. Tldr: we want it to be more optimized to utilize the iPads full screen
Wish more apps learned from Realistic
Writing this review makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy because I feel that Realistic is my artistic home. Anyone who craves the analog experience and wonder and the predictable happy accidents of physical media will instantly connect. However, this app isn’t as loud as other offers like Procreate and goes under the radar in a way that is almost unforgivable. This app encourages you to find artistic solutions to your art without depending on Liquefy, Layer Masks, or other shortcuts. It teaches and entertains you, improving your artistic eye. It is a gem that I hope developers never abandon. I am writing this because today they released an update and I was very happy that it got some love. PS: This app was a bit punishing on my old 2018 iPad Pro but still perfectly useful. I’m using an M4 mainly now but the 2018 is still a beast.

Fix the camera button.
I’ve liked this app so far, except when I go to click the camera button it will crash and wipe the file from existence. I’m not talking after 15 seconds of use, either. I mean at least an hour and a half worth of artwork just vanished from sight. Twice, now, with the oil palette.
UI is antiquated
This would be correctly priced at $2.99 not $12. The limited tool customization and brush selections are bothersome as is the user interface between media. Yes it works, but just not worth $12.
Not worth the price for its capabilities
Just not great. No way to save colors or brush sizes. No brush settings besides size. No way to select colors with your hand. The brush engine is decent, so +2 stars for that.
Realistic Art Simulator
This is the best art app of all time, however it’s not the same art app. It’s more of a realistic art simulator than an art app itself. it’s enjoyable. I’m really starting to love it especially all types of medium. I really hope they put in crayons and oil pastels as features too in this app same day, because those count is dry mediums as well.

Awesome app
I just downloaded this app and I’m loving it. Super easy to use, there is two things it I feel it’s missing. Being able to rotate the canvas and being able to get a normal blank canvas.
价格太贵，不实用
笔刷调节，调到最大也是小，虽然皮肤做工精美，太实用。用到最后还是procreate是最好的。
Overall it looks great
But unfortunately it keeps crashing as soon as I start.
I cannot believe this exists
So many other apps throw you into the deep end with so many choices and it becomes way too overwhelming. This gives you everything you need and nothing you don’t. As a noob painter this is exactly what I need.
Frustrating
First, it’s a fun app to play with. It includes some really neat features. And, the brush strokes feel good. It could be an awesome and very useful app. I’m frustrated because it could be so good. But, it’s not. some limitations: The help files and demonstrations don’t help much. The palette is an interesting concept, but I don’t understand how to use it. Also, it doesn’t allow undo. It lacks the ability to customize or create brushes. It lacks a color-picker and a lot of standard features that other apps have. It’s good enough that I’ll come back in a year and see what’s changed though.

Lacking support/guidance
This isn’t an art program for professionals- but it’s a nice break from more serious industry standard tools. It’s really hard to work out what does what! My previous review stated I couldn’t rotate the canvas... But I can, it just wasn’t explained anywhere and was buried in the settings. Now I want to change what order my layers are in, and there’s likely a way.. But I can’t work it out with the vague support offered on the developers website.
i love it but please update
its been two years i love this app to bits and pieces genuinely i dont want it to stop updating it when it has so much potential… the brushes are lovely the color engine is GREAT i cant get anything like it anywhere else … i think the oil brushes could use a bit more work though and the app overall lacks some features especially compared to others but either way what im saying is please update it i am one of this apps biggest fans its great but it could still use some updates :(

Lots of fun, hard on battery life
Realistic is lots of fun to play with and pretty easy to pick up (follow the tutorials for orienting yourself). But... it chews through the battery on a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9. Even on this large screen, one improvement would be to make the names on the brushes larger. They are small and hard to read. Maybe display the name of the selected brush above the row of brushes as a compromise to form vs function. Biggest ask: Adding a way to keep 2-3 brushes "out" for quick swapping.
Fun for the first 5 minutes then you just miss procreate
It’s a cute app, not worth the price tag tho. Also I hate that they make you further purchase brushes that feel like they should have come with the base app. It’s also not for professional use in my opinion. Just stick to Procreate. That’s a much better digital drawing program.
Great concept
Absolutely love the idea behind this. My only qualm is that there is a huge delay when drawing with the Apple Pencil Gen 1 on the iPad Air 3rd Gen (though this app says it is compatible). If this app could be as smooth as Procreate, I will switch in a heartbeat!!
Professional Traditional Art Studio
This is the first digital art program that really feels like drawing/painting in real life. No it doesn't have some functions you would find in photoshop or other programs, but it really brings the fun back. My traditional illustrations are easily edited here and I can even recreate my normal mixed media style. I like this way better than corel or any other program I've tried, and I have tried a lot. There is a "transform" tool of sorts, I do wish you could fully flip/mirror images, that would be the one thing that I would add. Other things would be nice, but I think the point of the app is to be as real to being in an art studio as possible, and I don't want to tamper too much with that premise.

Good Simulation of Traditional Art
Love the app, really enjoy it. (As far as I can tell) it doesn’t have as many of the usual “digital art” features like different blending modes for layers and stuff like that, but it does a very good job of simulating a traditional art feel, which is great if you want to feel like you’re using watercolors but don’t want to get messy or don’t have the space to get messy. (Or can’t, if you’re on a train or plane or whatever.) One thing I wish it had: the ability to save custom colors to the sets of colors for different mediums. I find myself wishing I could mix a particular color pastel or watercolor and then save it to my “palette”, to be used in the future. There are a lot of different colors to begin with, but I find the color picker a little clunky to use (I”m used to H/S/B and R/G/B sliders from other digital art apps I guess.) I also find that although the app will allow you to make canvases up to 5000 by 5000 pixels, it really can’t support that. None of the brushes scale up big enough to make a dent on the canvas (so enjoy painting by teeny tiny bits and taking hours to fill areas lol) and the app begins to lag horribly (running it on an iPad Pro, so shouldn’t be my device’s fault.) Would love to see that addressed as well.

Not very good after testing. Watercolours can be fun, but the oils look terrible with its overly glossy textures. The power of its brushes was the only reason to buy this for its lack of a save-to-print option and its lack of resolution. The whole program just feels clunky. I’ll try to get a refund if I can...
Excellent, could be even better
Hi, I purchased this app, and I am glad I did. It’s brushes and canvases that mimic the real thing are top notch, particularly the watercolor . The other display features make it great too. However, it would be great to be able adjust brush opacity. It would also be very helpful if the brush sizes and canvas sizes could be adjusted to our liking. Lastly, it would be great to have multi touch gestures, such as press and hold to pick a color from the canvas, as well as three finger swipe up or down to raise/ lower brush size, and three finger swipe left or right to adjust opacity. That being said, it is a great app, and I am excited to see what you do with it in the future.
Realistic Paint Studio, Simply best painting app.
Most realistic paint brushes for iPad, bar none! The interface of this program is very different, no “gazillion” brushes available, just extremely realistic, basic brushes, pens, pencils and tools. Mimics real life paints, palates and tools. If you want to really paint and draw digitally, instead of just horsing around, this is the app to use. I hope they keep it going and update it only as really needed, rather than just adding gimmicks to it as other app envelopes do..

Realistic, but too much “Realism”
An absolutely fantastic app. Very realistic. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the inability to view and save just the painting/drawing. I appreciate the “scenes”, the easels, notebooks, etc… But, there needs to be an option to export/save without that.
PROCREATE DOWNGRADE
Get Procreate it’s a lot easier to use and is exactly the same but better

A few of irritations that keep me from using it much: can’t freely mix mediums, busy backgrounds, and no option for a plain canvas (no easel). Good start, but has a ways to go yet.
Wow!
Impressive! Just messing around doing some Bob Ross kind of thing and whipped up a painting quickly. This will keep me busy. Can’t wait to get a larger grasp on using it. Blowing the painting up to create finer detail was something I discovered towards the end. just pinch and expand.
Do not purchase
I just wasted £11.99 on this rubbish. It is truly bad. I have used many art apps but this is the worst. It is clunky and slow. I am asking for my money back from Apple. If you buy this app you will be disappointed. Sam
Can’t argue with a painting simulacrum
There are a few things I would add and a few things I would remove or at least make optional for this to be the PERFECT OIL & WATERCOLOR PAINTING simulacrum (because it’s better than the real thing in many ways, it’s beyond a simulation and into something that lacks an original to simulate). There is no pasting option. Of course you can duplicate a layer and erase everything you don’t want to make a pasted layer, but that’s not very efficient. The rest of my suggestions regard the interface itself. I’m from the old school of photoshop that says your background can distract from your workspace. This isn’t graphic design, but colors and textures do effect each other - even when they aren’t within the composition. So it seems like wasted resources to put so much effort into making the interface into its own presentation. It smells like a gimmick, which given the great results of the painting engine I know the app is nothing but near perfect. So I wish you could just have the option to not use the backgrounds. Favoriting tools is also limited. I can’t handle using the mentioned gimmicky tool boxes so “starring” tools helps put them down in a dock. But the amount you can place in the dock is limited, which interrupts workflow. Bottom line is what started out a near deal breakers have become things I have been forced to live with since the results of the actual software/app are phenomenal... above and beyond anything else available for simulating oil painting, watercolor, and mixed media. Worth the $ (worth even more if the dev added the ability to copy/paste)
Crashes a lot
Unstable. I Keep loosing work. If you can get it to draw it is very nice
great rendering of natural painting effect but...
It is so limited in terms of features you get to expect from a digital drawing app, like you cant even export the drawing without the cheesy photo setting. Still, it has to be the best drawing app for rendering oil paint and watercolor.
