Bad App!
There are four of us traveling to Canada, and only one of us were able to scan our passport. The three of us couldn’t do it for three different errors none of which were errors
Clunky Image Capture
Image of passport failed to scan after several attempts.
Does not save time
We used ArriveCAN app to pre-declare when we traveled from US to Canada. Concept is good, but we did not save any time because we had to go through same steps at the kiosk in Canada. 🤦🏻♀️
Sort of unreliable
The app will not load the customs form. I have the most recent version updated. It’s worked in the past but not today.

The process was easy and quite precise and apt.

Scanning passport
The system did not do very well one passport scan worked another did not and to get the one that did scan took quite a while
Password reset
Password reset option does not tell user an email has been sent. Email does not contain a link to the password reset login page. User has to exit the app and sign in again. I suggest you hold a UX session with users and observe how they actually reset the password from every place you provide a link. As a software engineer and UX designer and developer I found this very disappointing.

Make it easier faster and convenient when you arrive from a long trip
Keeps crashing
While trying to fill this out, the app crashed 3 times and login failed for some reason 5 times. This was a complete waste of taxpayer dollars.
Easy Enough
This site was doable for this old man on my phone.
German passport glitch
Seemingly the app does not accept valid German/EU passport numbers if they have a certain structure.

Fast and easy to do
No trouble filling out the form. Easy to do.

Scanner for passports
I had a hard time getting the scanner to work. I kept changing the angle to reduce glare & changed lighting. Eventually it worked, but I’m not sure why.
App freezes
App freezes at defining arrival date and time. Had to close and open app several times on my iphone iOS 26.2.1
Nice but Crashed at Time Input
Wasnt able to Input a Date and time in one go without the App crashing. What worked Date -> Submit -> Edit Again -> Enter Time worked, seems like a bug

This app has one job
Can’t even scan a new Canadian passport without confusing O and 0
Permitted food items.
We were asked if we were only carrying certain food items but no opportunity to specify what we were intending to bring so that we could be sure not to violate the rules.

A little buggy and still use paper
When entering date/time of arrival, if I switched to an airline app to check my boarding pass for exact arrival date/time and comes back the ArriveCAN app to continue, the app UI would freeze consistently.

Didn’t work, waste of time
Was supposed to save time but didn’t work despite getting confirmation we had completed everything in the app. Still had to answer questions on kiosk again. No point to this app anymore

Prinzipiell gute Idee
Aber leider hat die App bei mir nur gezickt. Ständig angeblich Verbindungsprobleme mit dem Internet. Vielleicht waren es heute Probleme auf dem Server. Ich habe 2 Stunden gebraucht bis ich endlich das Fomular submitten konnte.
Arrival time did not work
I could not apply the exact time of arrival. The system would not show PM arrivals, only AM

Slow
Very slow failed twice. Had to delete and reinstate app three times. We are not visiting Canada to study but we are required to accept that we are and enter country of residence which is the UK but initially didn’t exist on the list - I live in England which is not an option. Altogether a simple declaration made difficult by the app.
Airport
The Toronto airport selection of terminal 1 or 3 requires assumed knowledge. Do you really need that detail?

Easy to follow instructions, convenient upon arrival in Toronto
Laughable unusable failure of an app
The verification email takes 30+ minutes for them to send. By the time you get the email, it has expired. Unusable.

It’s a little bit slow in response.
Not that easy for oldies
Instructions are clear but kept telling me my password was incorrect and it wasnt that user friendly for me as a not tech savy person Once in and onto it, it was ok then
No Error Processing
App is good when it works. If there’s any sort of problem the App either 1/ stalls (i.e. fails to complete the process, but without a timer) or 2/ gives a wrong explanation completely. It’s much less useful than the Web App which is 5 Star. Go to Canada.co and search ‘ArriveCAN’ to start.
Works well
Took all of 10 minutes to complete, well worth completing to save time later, especially on busy travel days
ArriveCAN saved my life
Before ArriveCAN, I didn’t know what to do with my hands when I was bored. Now I surf on the ArriveCAN app and pass the time while I’m at the airport. Thank you ArriveCAN !!
Reason for entry
Limited reasons so more information required. We are transmitting ie in for 9 days then leaving but visiting family, sightseeing then join a cruise

Don’t forget your password because the keyboard on your phone can disappear making resetting your password impossible.

Wouldn’t accept valid password and when we first attempted were using what seemed like a different ap than we did when we started over Second experience was good and easy to follow

Tip: If the flight arrival date page with the date/time scroll wheels is misbehaving, it’s because you are MORE THAN 72 HOURS BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL DATE/ TIME. It ought to have an error message but instead just messes with your head. Overall - typical govt bureaucracy. Easy if you’ve used it before AND fit the average profile. Can be a nightmare otherwise. I found it easy, my wife blew a fuse at all the stupid questions & that lack of a critical error msg.
