Totally recommended
Both Cash ISA and LISA have competitive rates. The app is very user friendly, they have recently improved the withdrawal process for both accounts. Their customer service really goes the extra mile to get everything moving (special thanks to Emmanuel, from the Savings department!)
Avoid at all costs
This is the second time I have used Tembo as I seemed to think they’d improved since the last time I had an account with them - wrong. I deposited £2000 into my Lisa over 2 months ago and they haven’t applied for my government bonus during their specified time frame. When you email them for a response and explanation, they continue to say ‘this is being looked into’. I have missed out on the interest for my account as I STILL don’t have my £500 that should have been applied to my account. The customer service is terrible and I am now transferring out to Skipton Building Society to ensure my money is safe and taking the hit on the interest rates. I dread to think how terribly efficient Tembo would be if I found a house to buy as they’re impossible to get hold of and completely incompetent. I don’t understand how Tembo can continuously open new products on their app but they can’t even maintain the basic products they already have. Completely avoid. I’d never use Tembo again.
Misleading
Looks great but the advertised % for savings accounts are far less unless you meet certain requirements. It says 5.5% but you don’t get that at all. How is that even legal. There is a base rate which does compound but it’s low. The ones you want that add the extra % don’t compound as they’re paid after 1 year.
Good rate but buggy app
Interest rate is competitive, at least for the bonus year, but the app is very buggy, especially when trying to transfer money in, which you do through the app rather than your own bank. App kept crashing for me.
Good saving
Very good platform for saving especially you are a first time home buyer you can get bonus from government. That is really cool🥰
Money movement ridicoulously slow
Began an investment account initially wanting an isa but ending up in a mortage saver. Attempted to cancel and reutnr funds which is still ongoing. Asked for it returned on the 4th and now told on the 7th it will take several days….. obviously keeping the money for their interest. Go to trading 212 money is returned in minutes or hours if you are really unlucky.
Great app with a terrifying lack of security
App is generally a good one however the lack of security measures are incredibly concerning and the response I received from their customer support regarding the issue was unsatisfactory to say the least. I have 6 different banking/investment apps and this is the ONLY one that fails to provide the option of an alternative pass code to your phone’s Lock Screen. This means that anyone who knows your general Lock Screen password (kids, family, nieces & nephews, friends for when they want to play a game or look at photos etc) will have full access to this banking application. There is no additional security in place. This seems so incredibly short sighted for a company that claims to take its security seriously. Will be looking for an alternative option until this incredibly basic and necessary function exists.

AI customer support is awful
The use of AI for their customer support is awful. You used to be able to speak to a person who would understand your issue but now with AI you just go round in circles.
The usual bonus high rates for new customers. Rubbish for current customers.
If you decide to transfer/close your ISA account, you will not be permitted to rejoin! Cheeky. Then they kick you out your account/close it which means I now have no back dated records.
LISA for first home purchase
The Tembo team, namely Abi and Lorraine were amazing. We are truly grateful for the quick response and turnaround on releasing our LISA amount in time for the completion.
latest app version doesn’t download
sort it out. this is serious.
2GB of storage
Very strange that the app takes up 2GB of storage (deleted and re-downloaded to clear). Are you doing OTA updates and not cleaning up the files or something?
First time buyer’s
Overall really good experience with Tembo. Been saving for awhile for our first house, then eventually found and got our first home. From the time you start the process, there’s a lot going on and forms to fill out etc. The team at Tembo are very helpful, quick to reply and have excellent customer service. Atrocious support and technical difficulties.
Started a LISA transfer from Moneybox 10 weeks ago, to benefit from a Tembo bonus promotion. Took over 6 weeks for Tembo to tell me that it wasn’t actually possible, but their app still shows a transfer in progress. I now have no Moneybox LISA, and can’t create a new one in Tembo. Been spoken to by four different support people and nothing has been fixed. I’m now not able to get the bonus which is the whole reason I switched in the first place. Therefore, this app is functionally useless to me and has only wasted hours of my time.

Problem with logging in but Heather sorted it out straight away- excellent.
Told one thing, delivered another
Told that a stocks and shares LISA is possible and was coming. Strung along for months and now told it won’t be done because it takes them too long to move across internally.

I thought all of my savings were gone because of a technical glitch with the money indicator remaining at £0.00.
Superb customer service
We had an issue with our ISA transfer (which was not the fault of Tembo) but our issue was sorted out by Abz who was amazing! He deserves a promotion!!!!

Great app for first time buyers
I opened up a LISA account with Tembo a couple of years ago to save for a house deposit and I’ve had a great experience throughout, from opening the account which was super easy to do, to managing and withdrawing my savings. They’ve been super transparent about interest rate changes, and the withdrawal process was super straight forward. And best thing about them is THE STAFF - they are all so nice and helpful, always answered all my questions and were super prompt in replying to my emails.
