it is the best
This little best thing ever keep on going to make an app like this
FBX export broken
App produced the best textures out of all the lidar scanning apps but .FBX exporting has been broken for at least a month now. In addition, now I am getting a failed to initialize error when trying to process any scan!
Service is broken, scans queue > 18 hours no result
Latest version just shows “queued” for over 18 hours now, no longer works, I subbed again but now I’m out the money - not working and possibly no longer maintained / abandoned? Since it’s unreasonable for anyone to wait >18 hours for their scans, conclusion is this app is not currently usable or maintained. The photos upload but the service never takes them off the queue. Tested with free trial and with pro membership, iPhone 15. Old service worked.
Update deleted all my scans
The latest update erased all my previous scans. I used to use this app a lot and really need to reference one of my previous scans. Now they are all gone?
Fantastic app but stopped working recently
Incredible for 3-D scans lately it gets stuck at 7% and can’t render the actual scan. Not sure what happened with the recent release.
Incredible utility
As other reviews indicate, the app has its sweet spot -- and for my purposes it's a great tool for documenting spaces and the things in them. It took a month or so for the new iPhone 17 Pro to be supported but it's working again, thank you!
Don’t download
Never finished queuing
Bug?
This is a wonderful app. Works superbly and simply. But with my new IPhone 16 it won’t access the close up camera.?? Hopefully fixed soon
Quality has gone down
I used to LOVE this app! I would scan anything and everything, it’s what got me into 3D work. But recently they like scrubbed the platform and I lost all my years of scans. I was upset but whatever I moved on, but now the app won’t even process a single set of images! It has major bugs. Tired of dealing with the buggy behavior and moving to another app now. Sad.

Really cool
Free trial for the yearly subscription then its not really free
Even tho it said free trial, it took the money and now im subscribed for a year.
Super 3D capture app.
After the exploring all the 3D capture apps I could, a few years back when the iPhone 13pro came out, I decided that Metascan produced the best results. Since then I’ve happily purchased the app for a few years now, with only one snag being that if the subject is quite large, (such as a fishing trawler, or railway station) the photogrammetry output is sometimes reduced in scale. Presumably this is a limitation which many people will not run into and I have always found the LiDAR based outputs to be to scale and with only a few cm error when using the measurement tool. Also I found opening the output scans in Blender was a good idea for cleaning up “blobs” which sometimes occur when capturing with LiDAR. Recently Polycam have upped their game and I may well start using their app as well, mainly for the floor plan outputs which Metascan are yet to make part of their offering. If you are looking for an excellent app to start your 3D capture journey, you can’t go wrong with Metascan and hopefully the app developers will soon bring out some new features, such floor plans, to bring it up to par with its competitors, making it a very powerful tool. Thank you Metascan, I have enjoyed this app a lot!
It used to work
It worked well on iPhone 13 Pro, but when I upgraded to iPhone 16 Pro, LiDAR scanning no longer works, and for some reason it uses the telephoto lens instead of the wide camera.
AMAZING!!!
This is an amazing app. I wanted something that could scan an object and let me view it quickly, easily, and for free. All the other apps I searched through couldn't process the images, weren't supported, didn't have a free option, or simply didn't work. Abound lets you do 5 scans per month in the free version! Not planning on buying the subscription ($15/month or $80/year). Thank you so much developers for this app!
Bad app
Does not even work on my iPad
iPhone 16 Pro Support
LIDAR scans are not (yet?) supported on the iPhone 16 pro.
Works with iPhone 15 pro max
It has been updated to now work with iPhone 15 pro max.
Lost files
Love the app but latest update wiped out my scan library :(
iPhone 15 pro max
Seems like it is finally compatible with newer devices.
iPhone 15 pro max
Good worth getting
I really like this app but I have a few issues. For example, many times captures turn out glitchy and full of non-exsistent triangles. Also, I want to see the price of the full version but i don't know how. I might by the pro version soon!
Image processing repeatedly fails
I’ve repeatedly uploaded my substantial project, and the app repeatedly tries to process it, but then eventually gives me the notification that it failed. However, it does not give me any reason why it failed and therefore I do not know how to troubleshoot. This is very unfortunate because I was depending on this scan.
Disappointed
Does not seem to work with Lidar with my iPhone 15 Pro
Doesn’t Recognize Lidar On iPhone 15 ProMax
Just downloaded this app because of an online review and was disappointed that upon opening and selecting “lidar” a message pops up and tells me that I need a “pro” model iPhone or iPad such as iPhone 12 Pro…. This is an iPhone 15 ProMax … and it can’t make use of the lidar.
this is best scanner i have ever seen

Does not work
Simple as that. It does not work.
Good
Good and simple
Highly recommend
I use this app multiple times every week, and after several months, I’m very happy with it. It is fairly simple to use, and what it can do is amazing. The company responds quickly to queries, and it makes regular software updates that improves the features significantly. It is probably among the best in its price range and features…. That said, be aware that there are practical limits to what this virtual reality software can do. This software is a cheap way to initially try VR, but to make quality videos, you have to learn its strengths and limitations. You have to probably buy the proper lighting/studio equipment too. Higher quality videos require the latest/best iPhone too. It requires a fast processor and memory to handle files for the best videos—meshing the max of 300 pictures per scan. But that is true for any software like this. Although you can still do a lot without much additional equipment (and with relatively new cell phones). I am constantly amazed with what I can do with it. But there are things it cannot do—especially if you try to push it beyond its design limits.
Lidar scan not working on iphone 15 pro
Seems to think there isnt a LIDAR scanner on my phone
Definitely my favorite mobile scanning app
I have an iPhone11 Pro (so no Lidar) and have tried pretty much every scanning app- Metascan is the only one that has consistently produced high quality results. The interface is simple and it has the features I want (double sided scanning/object masking, scan quality settings, etc). Also, support on the developer’s Discord channel is top notch!
Rrr
So cheap

Premium photogrammetry
pretty much the best photogrammetry experience on ios for the last few years. smooth user interface, no nonsense exports, fair policies. Love it
DO NOT BUY !Used to work - no response from developers.
Worked great for months. Started using it in my workflow with my job. then the scans just get stuck processing. I never get close to the pro version cap limit. It has been over a month . I can’t access scans on my phone. Online show the last 6 scans processing. Sent screenshots,.filled out forms for support. Emailed support. Emailed a team member from a previous issue. No response. I’m paying for pro version and no support.
Noob note
I have tried 8 scan apps. Metascan is the very first to produce an image !
Started out brilliantly, then…
Keeps on crashing when I try to process scans both big and small. It’s a shame as I use this for work; get the bugs sorted then I might buy the subscription
?
It says I can use LiDAR with a iPad Pro, but when I try it, it says that it’s incompatible with my device (iPad Pro 2nd Gen)
Very impressed about this app!
Very impressed
Doesn’t work on iPhone 16 Pro Max
Don’t buy if you have a new iPhone 16 model. On my iPhone 16 Pro Max it uses the telephoto lens and lidar isn’t found either, so it is completely unusable. On my old phone it worked fine, however I have a subscription that I pay for and now can’t use it anymore. I sent an email to the developer a month ago, but didn’t get any response. They need to update the software asap.
Really great
Pretty simple and the UI is fairly straightforward. Could do with some more help on what each setting does but the free tier really makes this a no brainer
