I love it with one request
I really wish it would add an option for overlap stitches when exporting a pdf and the grid is broken up into multiple pages. I also wish it would save to the cloud so I could access patterns across devices. Otherwise it’s a nearly perfect app.
Not the best app out there
This app started out great, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that the developers are prioritizing printing functionality over actually developing the app into the powerful design tool it has the potential to be. The extra steps that have been added just to save an image are completely unnecessary, especially when you’ve made it significantly easier to print directly from the app. It feels like basic functionality is being made more complicated while printing continues to receive update after update. Honestly, how many people are actually using this app primarily to print? I would much rather see that development time go toward updated fonts, better design tools, a more intuitive user interface, and more advanced features—especially features that competing computer-based software already offers. The app has so much potential, but it feels like the focus is in the wrong place. Instead of continuing to optimize printing, I’d love to see the developers focus on what this software could actually become if they prioritized the design experience and brought the app closer to its full potential.
Folders
Good product for creating files but would love to see the ability to create folders. I don’t like having to scroll through so many of my patterns to find the one I need. It would be super helpful for me to have folders I can create by category
Needs some work..
I want to be able to track my progress but you can only do that by using the draw tool to mark off the stitches you've done. I'd love it more if you could just tap on the stitches and it would grey them out or something instead of having to draw a line. I’m currently using printed patterns right now and drawing lines is how I currently keep track, so this app isn't an upgrade from that unfortunately. I’m referring to a pdf pattern i've uploaded by the way, in case that for some reason makes any difference.
Dimensions need expanding
Overall this app works great. 3 star review is because needlepoint belts and bag straps are a popular product and cannot be designed in this app without breaking up the design and/or designing a repeating design since the dimensions allowed in app do not allow a size long enough for a belt/strap.
Best cross stitching app out there
AHHHHHHH, it’s genuinely so good
FlossCross is free and does the same thing if not more.
Honestly, I prefer FlossCross over this app as this is way too complicated for me to use. Not to mention I’m not paying for a program when there’s a similar one for free, that arguably easy to use too.
Only one issue
The app works good. I just wish that you were able to download to Windows based devices. I would pay extra for that option.
Don’t buy this for painting patterns unless you’re willing to gamble on quality.
Look, I understand they need to make money, but this is ridiculous. The only thing you can actually do in this app on the free version is convert photos to cross stitch…which can be done for free without the annoying pop up every five seconds online. To be fair it does this fine, which is why I gave it two stars, but I will not pay the app developers to be able to paint with their app. The painting feature’s paintbrush is locked behind a paywall, meaning you cannot determine if the painting even works correctly without being forced to pay 40$ for the privilege of testing. Aka, you cannot use the app for the feature most of us are probably downloading the app for unless you’re willing to gamble on it being a good app. Also, the pop up. Christ. 100,000 lines of code and you can’t code a painting app to not kick you out half the time when you accidentally trigger the popup?
Unable to access on multiple devices
I was unaware when I downloaded the app that if I downloaded it through my App Store and purchased the premium version on my iPhone that I didn’t have some sort of an account with the Stitchly company and couldn’t access my designs on other devices. So when I tried to sign in on my Samsung tablet, I was informed that I couldn’t access the premium version I purchased on my iPhone through my tablet, nor could I access my designs. In order to use the premium version on my tablet, I would have to re-purchase the premium version on my tablet. The redundancy is ridiculous. I love the app, but I’m disappointed in its limited availability through other devices.
love the app! Suggestions with pixel photos and tag system
I love the app. It’s amazing for making new designs and following designs I already made. My issue is that photos that are already in pixel format are hard to line up and copy correctly. I have a bunch of pixel art I would love to turn into designs but it’s hard to do it with your automated pattern creator and I just end up doing it all by hand anyway. Which is annoying and time consuming when the pieces are big. I don’t know if there is a way to line up photo grid with your system that I am missing… Also have you thought about making your tagging system when you can add bins or folders or drop down menus? My tags can get pretty long when I’m doing subsets of subsets. Ex piece has a turkey in it, so I tag it at: object - animal- bird - turkey. I don’t know if that’s just me and my love of categories though.
No funciona
Quieren que pague por la app pero ni en la prueba funcionó
Really good app, not perfect
I’m really enjoying this app, but there are a few improvements I would make if possible. One simple one would be to “highlight” everything of a single color when I choose that color, especially when importing a photo. It would make it far easier to determine if a color should be eliminated. Occasionally there are only a few stitches in that color but they are really important to the stitch out (highlights in eyes comes to mind).
Changed PDF usage
I’ve used Stitchly for years to keep up with a lot of different projects. They now give a message when you try to upload a file that says they are designed for creating your own patterns, and won’t let you upload pattern pdfs to work on. I have tons of files I work out of that were uploaded from pdfs, including an 80 something page Zelda Tapestry pattern. This change really makes the app useless for how I use it unfortunately. I’ve never had any luck using the app to “design” my own patterns, but to keep up with my progress on my patterns, for knitting, crochet, cross stitch, etc.
So far so good
I’ve had this app for a couple of days now, but one thing I wish this app had was the ability to add shapes and easily re size and move them to where I want on the canvas! It’s sometimes extremely hard to draw something as simple as an oval evenly and it’s hard to trace one! But so far I’m likeing the app with all it has to offer!
Game Changer!!!
I absolutely LOVE this app. For decades I’ve struggled to create my own patterns. I get frustrated with the same old cutesy/cheesy patterns that I would never hang on my wall. So far I’ve been able create patterns with my favorite photos of pets and family members, and I can create new patterns when traveling without having to pack up WIPs. Yes, there are some flaws- I wish there were more sort options, and that we could save to an account rather than a backup file, but I believe those things will come in time. Even with the downsides this app deserves 5+ stars. Overall this app has given me a renewed love and passion for the craft and if I were to lose it I would cry.
Hate it
It is so hard to figure out how to use don’t try it it’s a waste of time !listen to the warning
From a Slightly off-label user…
I use Stitchly to create charts for single unit drawloom weaving. I love all the cut, copy, paste, flip, and so on. My only dream function would be the ability to print landscape, as well as format, so my chart squares print out larger; I don’t mind multiple pages. My current chart maxes out the size limit, so I’m weaving halfway in and then back. Ok, another request - being able to highlight (vertically) every 5 or 10 columns, because I am working across an entire row picking drawcords (all 120 of them) and it makes it easier to keep track of where I am.
It needs some features
It’s not compatible with .OXS, so it doesn’t work for me if I want to combine it with other software. It doesn’t have layers, among other issues. They say they’re going to update it, but I haven’t seen any changes. If they update these points, I’ll change my rating.
Debe mejorar
Muy limitada para hacer patrones, solo se puede diseñar hasta 300 puntos, hay que mejorar para hacer diseños con puntadas mayores
Still loving the app but have a request
This app makes cross stitching a dream but could use more options on Aida colors and/or linens. How about a customizable adaptable option where i can approximate the color of my background using a floss color, or being able to mottle 2 colors. I use almost exclusively hand dyed aida. Also, now that patterns are being sold as pdf downloads can you makt it possible to upload them to this app?
TERRIBLE NOT RECOMENDED
Ok so I love cross stitch and I can’t get cross stitch joy so I found this and when I opens it it looked good but I put the pic in and it was pixels so I tried to fix it but no it got worse THIS IS TERRIBLE fix this please if not then I will tell all my friends not to ever get this
only one complaint
I love this app!! I use it for all my needlepoint projects! The only thing is that projects aren’t saved to an account, they’re saved to the device you started designing the project on. I would love if the projects could automatically load onto a Stitchly account so that I can have all my projects on my iPhone and iPad, without having to do a Stitchly backup.
Needs thread blending and multiple instances of same colour in a custom palette
I wish I could fully use this app to create my patterns / recreate some from my archive. Unfortunately, even when I paid for the unlocked version, I could not create a custom palette that contained multiple variations of a colour. For example: I wanted to assign symbol ⏺️ for 1 thread of DMC 415 Pearl Grey + 1 thread of DMC 414 Steel Grey. And a different symbol ▶️ for 2 threads of DMC 415 Pearl Grey. And a third symbol ⏹️ for 1 thread of DMC 415 Pearl Grey. If the app upgrades in future to accommodate more complex custom palettes in this way, I will return to using Stitchly as my mobile pattern maker.
Best Cross Stitch App
I love this app. My favorite feature by far is when you can select the colors you don’t want. But before you do, you can see where that particular color is on the chart which helps determine if you can get away with not having that color or not. I already have a program on the computer which I have had for years and done loads of charts/cross stitch on there. I have to say this app surpasses that easily! The fact that you can upgrade to the paid version for one price and not have a subscription is the best!
Terrible
Worst app ever. All you can do is do nothing, an less you pay some dumb subscription which is way to much money for what your getting. So I recommend that you DON’T get this app
Great App for converting images to Cross Stitch
I really do love this app. I have created several patterns already from images that I would like to stitch as gifts. It not only gives you the posted out. It gives you the measurements of the finish P full color chart to stitch from and a shopping list to tell you all of the colors that you will need to stock for your project. It’s an amazing product and I’m very glad that I paid for it. BY THE WAY…….I went through about 8 similar apps before finding yours and was extremely disappointed in all of them. Then I found Stitchlt and I am working on stitching my 3rd pattern from your app. I’d love to post pictures, but there is nowhere to do that.
Ideal app for veterans but not so much for newbies
At first it worked okay enough with the free features with the only thing missing being the erase button. The free version is just slightly better than working with graph paper because you can click back if you put colour in the wrong square. I had my main design already figured out (see examples of Palestinian cross stitch) for my daughters traditional veil and I needed to figure out the filler design and colours. It’s a repeating square design of about 1 inch width and 1.5 inch height with a central flower and pillar/tiny flower border Getting the outline I had already figured out should have been simple but it was frustrating to resize the grid and have the design center completely when I just wanted to add to the side or top. I wanted to make several copies of the outline and try out different petal flower colours in the mail and the border but I couldn’t figure out how to “copy” and rename the pattern. It took so long to make a strip of 2 pattern panels and then resize to make 3 panels one I realized I couldn’t save the base pattern, that I just kept changing each of the 3 panels with 3 different ideas on the same pattern then taking a picture before trying out 3 more ideas. I tried to pull up a palette of colours I had already chosen to click in and then switch between those colours in different areas but the palette only isolates where that colour is on the grid but you still have to memorize the colour number and go hunt for it on the main palette. This remains a good option for a veteran designer who can visualize in their head what they want and just want to put it into a pattern to remember but it’s so frustrating for someone like me, trying to design for the first time and using an app like this for the first time. I found it added to the frustration rather than making it easier. I hope my review helps the designers of the app rather than discouraging someone from giving the app a good try. Again, for someone who already designs and wants a printable pattern, this would be ideal.
I love this app
This app is so fun so amazing. I get my patterns done and I enjoy it while I do it so thank you. Spiritually for the amazing work that you guys let us do as creators. Thank you so much.
free ?!
...only for teeny weeny patterns
Add a feature
I love the app but I’m not sure where to submit suggestions for improvement. I’d love to see options to create patterns with glow in dark thread. I’m planning to create some glow in dark surprise patterns but I’ll have to manually edit documents once exported to change the dmc number to the glow in the dark thread.
Crashes
Would like to purchase the full version, but when I import a PDF pattern, it just crashes and you can’t select anything?
Love it!
I really love this app. It would be really great if there wasn’t a limitation of the dimensions of the pattern. I have a few larger pieces I cannot add due to size constraints. Otherwise, no complaints. The app is easy to use and exactly what I need to manage my projects.
Don’t waste your $
This app was a waste of time and money. Was freezing my iPad, and to get better pattern quality you had to pay more. It is piece of c****!
Really good, but not optimal- yet
This app is one of a kind. It’s getting better and better. Two things that would make it top notch IMO: 1. Add more fiber brands 2. PLEASE create a mono canvas template for needlepoint so we needle-pointers don’t have to convert.
Small
Great app but all the patterns come out small…wish there was a way to make your actual design bigger.
Stitching
BEST cross stitch app!!! I don’t convert photos or make my own patterns but for stitching, perfect.
Good app!
I’m loving this app! The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that it doesn’t sync my progress across devices. I understand it’s a local save but it’s kinda sad that I paid a bit (to me, it may be cheap for others) and I can only see my progress on one device. Is cloud save a feature you’re planning to implement in the future? Also I would love a way to change the dimensions of the sections when you are tracking your stitches. If there is a way to do this I would love to know how.
Colour issues
I’ve been using this app to create patterns to sell and a lot of colours aren’t true to colour in the DMC range. What will be a bright green is displayed as a dull green or a blue displayed as a purple. Overall I was happy till I started discovering colours weren’t quite right for what I had been intending
Great app
Great app! I use it all the time, the developers are also great and open to feedback. They updated the app upon a recommendation of mine and I’m so grateful. App does exactly what I need!
DMC Colors Lacking
I’m so disappointed with this app. Although it’s easy to use, it only has about 60 colors in the DMC satin palette. If I want a specific color I have to add them myself. This adds to my work. At least Stitch Fiddle has all 400+ colors to choose from. Such a bummer.
Not bad but could be better
Easy to use and can generate patterns to make quickly. Only issues I’ve found is with larger patterns there seemed to be a glitch. On the app it was find but when exporting the same symbol was used for two colours on both the chart and grid. As it’s black and white you go a little cross eyed trying to work it out! Also would be helpful to have the colour version available to export in maybe separate PDF option. At the moment it’s only available in black and white.
