GREAT App
Points for stating how you score the puzzle, with a simple strategy to maximize points. BIG niggle: I would like to reset the statistics preferably each difficulty separately. I like to play 25 games at a go. Currently the only way I see is to delete and DL. Small niggle: currently if you abandon a game (can’t solve) the game isn’t noted in the games played statistic. There doesn’t have to be a penalty but a simple counter would be nice. Finally, the game before paying the app came off sort of clunky to me, if you find this, ignore it and unlock the full game. Worth every penny
Not as advanced as I would like
There’s no option (unless I’m just not seeing it) that allows you to continuously keep applying the same number your working on without having to back track and have to hit the space plus the number instead of just pressing the space. I don’t like all the hits that are marked inside each square, (hints that I did not put there). There’s several other things that I don’t like but for now that’s all I want to write about.

Außerdem scheint die Auswertungsstatistik unrealistische Ergebnisse zu beinhalten: Wer schafft es, ein (mittelschweres) Sudoku in 00:01 zu lösen? Das geht schon allein wegen der Schnelligkeit der manuellen Eingabe nicht!
Best sudoku app
I’ve tried so many and this is by far my favorite sudoku app. I do wish there was a level between easy and medium. The easy ones are very simple and with the mediums I find myself sometimes stuck and can’t solve the puzzle so have to guess. I have looked up advanced strategies and have used many and gotten better, but still there are times when I see no way to move forward. Don’t know if that would be added on at some point, not just a hint at telling you a number but actually a strategy you can use to solve it at that point. This would take some doing I’m sure. Regardless I will still be playing my mediums and occasionally a hard puzzle. Great app!
Kind of disappointing
I had hoped that this app would teach sudoku concepts, rather than just give a hint by telling you a number. I had a great sudoku app that is no longer made, and it let me scan games in as well as taught different techniques. So when you asked for a hint, it would say something like “look for a naked pair” rather than saying “do you accept defeat?“ I think that’s just insulting and stupid because it doesn’t teach anything. It just fills in the number for you.

I’m so tired of sudokus which are easy, or at least, not as hard as they should be. This developer wants me to drop money to unlock the extreme levels before letting me try them?! Not going to happen. It could be a waste of money. Give us a few extreme ones to try before asking for money.
Great App Hoping for More Future Updates & Features
EDIT** Developer is continuing to update and has listened and added our requests :) Best sudoku app on the market. Well worth the premium purchase Latest update was 3 years ago, and I purchased the premium version to support the developer. I really hope this app continues to receive updates, as it has a lot of potential. I do have a few suggestions: * Add an option where using the “X” also removes notes from cells * Include a toggle that allows up to 3 mistakes (can be edited) per game * Expand customization options. More colors or even a color wheel would be great Overall, I’d love to see this app continue to grow with more features and improvements.

Great app, difficulty rating is maybe broken
I have spent years with this app. First downloaded it in 2018. The medium level of difficulty is legitimately impossible. I have never solved a medium puzzle without having to just straight up guessing. I have not had similar problems with hard or extreme

Very Polished Game
Updated as of 7/21/2026: I think the gameplay is really good. I like all the options available. This is very polished. I have experienced challenges with what I perceive to be a big difference in difficulty between the Easy and Medium puzzle levels. I find the Easy puzzles too easy and the Medium puzzles much too difficult. But after conferring with the developer I have been assured that these puzzles reflect their difficulty levels accurately. So this is really just a “me” problem. For true Sudoku fans, you’ll probably enjoy this game a lot. If you are more accustomed to puzzles from the newspaper or which don’t conform to standard Sudoku ratings (because they are usually easier) you may struggle a little. Regardless, this is an excellent game and the developer is responsive to inquiries. So five stars from me!
Why do I have to pay to take away all the bells and whistles?
I get more points if I don't use the pencil notations... but I have to subscribe to take them away! How can I decide if I am unable to take her for a test run?
Resume unsolved puzzles feature!
I wish this app would save unfinished games so I could go back later and try to solve them. Once a new game is selected there is no history of previously unsolved games. The hints only reveal a square instead of offering a suggestion for the next possible move. The medium puzzles are waaaaay too hard considering the easy puzzles are a cake walk. I complement you on the dark theme. I would suggest two rows for the candidates at the bottom of the puzzle, it is too easy to press an incorrect digit. Also, a box around them looks nice. (See the NYT sudoku app) It would also be nice to have an on/off toggle for the automatic pencil candidates (also see NYT app)

Not Really a Free Sudoku App
I was looking for a Sudoku app that wouldn’t bombard me with 30-second unskippable ads like the others do. This one looks promising and offers many cool features but I think it is odd that I have to pay for the premium version just to play traditional Sudoku on what appears to be the ultimate Sudoku app. Specifically, the ‘auto-fill notes’ and ‘hide incorrect answers’ features are very cool but they are turned on by default and require a $4 app upgrade to toggle off. This is not a real Sudoku app to me. I ended up deleting the app without finishing the game I started because the auto-filled notes ruined the actual game for me. I would love to use this app as my main Sudoku app but I think I will stick to my plain paper Sudoku.

Probably my favorite sudoku app
I’m enjoying this version of sudoku. Most of the features that are needed in a sudoku app are here. The hard puzzles are VERY challenging. I appreciate the automated pencil mark feature very much. The highlights are useful (though I do find some color themes to lack sufficient contrast). I have a few suggestions for improvement: The “coloring” technique is not an option on this app and it could be a very useful addition. I sometimes use a solver to learn more about the extremely difficult techniques. It would be nice to be able to export the board in its current solve state to make that easier. Or, maybe the hint option can give a tutorial on the technique used to move you ahead, rather than just exposing an answer.
If you know how to play at all get something else
The limitations of the game are overly cumbersome. All hints are filled in and it records incorrect answers if you try to leave a cell without selecting a number. There are an impressive amount of options available but you are required to purchase the app to get anything offered. This is not something I would recommend to a young adult that is trying to enjoy a few minutes of quiet or anyone else that is looking to relax. There are other similar apps out there that better put together.
Good app technically but not functionally
Lot of options to play the game, however, sokudo game itself is not that great. So many would have no logical solution but you must try by luck.
Best Sudoku app on the AppStore
Since picking this version up back in July of this year I’ve logged almost 200 games in it. There’s a ton of options, and my favorite by far (well 2 now as of yesterday’s update) is that I can have all of the possible notes pre-filled!! And as of yesterday I can export my game stats so I can check them out in a spreadsheet and make my own graphs. Perfect if you’re a DataIsBeautiful redditor 🤘 If your old favorite sudoku app is boring you or if you’re new to the market and looking for a solid sudoku app, give Sudoku Extreme a shot 🤙 —mauirixxx Edit: as of December 2024 I’ve logged over 1,500+ games (rounds?) in this app, it’s nearly the only game I play on my phone these days 😎

Unless you’re looking for a version of sudoku that’s already filled in and doesn’t require any thought, you will have to pay. Some apps require you to progress though the tiers to unlock the next difficulty but this one doesn’t offer that. Beginner is the only free option
Best sudoku I’ve found..a couple of suggestions
This is the best and cleanest sudoku I’ve tried. Well worth the one-time price. A few suggestions: 1. When I want to de-select all of the highlighted cells to see an un-highlighted board, I’ll click below the number row in the empty area of my pro max screen. However, the touch fields for each number extend so far below the actual number, that I end up accidentally hitting a number and filling in a highlighted cell - sometimes without realizing it - and it ends up messing up my board. 2. I like to play in dark mode. The border around the individual cells are very hard to see because they are almost the same color (or almost as dark) as the cell background color. Please lighten up the individual cell border color a bit. Otherwise when you have a lot of notes in adjacent cells, they all seem to just blend into each other and are hard to distinguish. 3. When you tap a cell that has notes (e.g. 1,4,7), the numbers 1, 4 and 7 at the bottom should be highlighted. Otherwise, good job.
Really wonky levels
I bought this app because I liked the features and set up enough. But I increasingly regret it because the skill levels are truly bizarre. I don’t know how else to describe it. I’ve been playing sudoku for years and I usually play medium or hard levels. On this game, beginner is hard… and it goes up several more levels. It’s so strange. When I want to relax I like to ocassionaly play an easy level just to zone out for a bit, but that’s not possible on this app. If they’d fix this issue and make the levels more appropriate to their category, I would give it five stars. As is, I find it really obnoxious because I play most often late at night to relax and even the lowest level wakes me up because it’s a challenge. Seasoned sudoku players should be able to breeze through the beginner level.
You need to improve levels system
Easy and medium is too hard, ive tried many sudoku apps and ive done all the hard levels for approximately 8minutes, where in this app i cant do the easy level for 10 minutes. The UI is perfect, also you can add an autofill option where theres only ony option left

Best sudoku app
This is the best sudoku app I’ve played. Simple and clean, with great features. Would be even better if there was an option to clear notes (I mess up a lot) and to color code notes (I probably mess up a lot because I’m trying to track a few different ideas at the same time).
$4 to Change Settings
This app looked really good but it costs $4 to change the settings, even simple settings like turning autofill off or turning vibration off.
Zu schwer (oder ich zu blöd)
Ich habe ja schon einige Sudoku gelöst in meinem Leben, aber für diese App bin ich wohl zu blöd. Selbst mit dem neuen Beginner Level komme ich bislang immer wieder an einen Punkt, wo die Rätsel für mich nicht mehr eindeutig sind. Vielleicht denke ich nicht genug im die Ecke, aber im Beginner Level zu verzweifeln ist schon echt hart. Dabei habe ich eigentlich schon einige harte Sudoku geknackt. Nur in dieser App noch nicht ein einziges... Ansonsten gefällt mir die App vom Design her gut.
Chose it for the Privacy; stayed for the Customization
Edit: I think the scoring system is broken at a certain point. Still a 5 star game, but until I can see the specific calculations for each of my highest scores, I cannot remove this. I read the scoring template and it holds true up to a certain point, then you’re capped So many ways to customize this game! Was not expecting this. First app I’ve purchased in a long time. Great job! I am curious about the scoring system because my friend and I cannot increase our score anymore. It feels like there is a cap.
Avoid this app!!
There are no instructions (number first or cell first entry) on how to use the app, you can not change the colour scheme, stop haptic feedback or make any change to the hostile interface without purchasing the app. Can’t turn off auto notes or try an advanced level game (to see if the app is worth it) - not even one game!! Don’t waste your time and avoid this app!! To the dev: good luck getting folks to purchase the app before they can even try it properly.
Only needs a few features
Probably the best UI out there. Being able to quickly notate and switch is faster than any app I’ve ever used. In addition, extreme is truly difficult and you may find yourself stumped quite often. However I would like coloring and advanced coloring options. A way to manually notate various advanced techniques would be amazing.

I have the most accidental presses when selecting numbers on this sudoku more than any other sudoku app I wish they would use 2 different rows to put the numbers 1-9

The Only Good Sudoku App
Literally the only sudoku app I’ve found that doesn’t take your data, zero ads, dark mode, AND the developer is actively improving it based on user feedback. I paid the $3.50 to unlock the rest and that was it. Can you add a feature that allows me to turn off the highlighting of rows/numbers when I select a box to input a number? Similar to how it is when you’re adding hints? Thank you!

Best on the app store
This app is amazing! Auto notes was a must have for me which Sudoku.com app doesn't have. I love the different themes and difficulty levels. So many great options for how you want to play. The only improvement I could think of is the teaching hints. This game gives hints as giving you the value of the cell you select.
False advertising in the name
With a name like Sudoku Extreme, I paid for the harder levels expecting actual harder and extremely difficult levels. Well, it’s false advertising. The extreme levels are easier than the beginner free levels. You can understand my frustration and disappointment. I would prefer my payment of $4.99 returned to me. What you’re really paying for is additional and unnecessary settings. Even weirder that the price jumped from $3.99 to $4.99 after a week of playing the beginning and easy levels.
Great aesthetics but UX can be improved
Love the color schemes and overall interface design. The haptic feedback is wonderful. Definitely my favorite Sudoku app. There are two downsides: 1. The UX is not fast. When I click on a cell, it doesn't immediately select the cell and I can't immediately place a number. This slows down my fill speed. 2. When a number is fully used, the app should not allow it to be placed again. I've had multiple times when I accidentally hit a grayed out number which then counts as a mistake (usually when I'm trying to fill cells quickly toward the end of a game). This can definitely help reduce accidental mistakes. Keep up the good work
