Got started with an account and chatting with some pretty awesome guys, but then all the sudden I get back go to open the app and I can’t get in unless I pay a subscription now. Nope!! I’ll just go back to being an introvert, thank you.
queer alternative to instagram
Really interesting alternative app to Instagram. Could definitely use more creators/profiles but definitely a lot of potential.
Body forward
I checked out this app because it promised a place to make LGBTQ friends. After creating a profile I was presented with 40 profiles of white men with perfect gym bods to follow. Like the bodies only 1% achieve and since then I’ve just been bombarded with photos of gorgeous men. I mean I’m not complaining but I choose my friends based on who they are and not what they look like. This app is very image forward and I have yet to have someone without a perfect body show up in my recommended feed. I was hoping for something to actually connect with people on a deeper level but I guess that’s gay culture for you… bottom line, no better than any of the other apps.

Really bummed you are required to have either an Instagram or X account to sign up. I choose not to have a Meta and X account, I think for pretty obvious reasons, and so it’s unfortunate that you have to have one just to sign up for this app.
Great concept
Love that it’s a community of just us.. love the reminders to keep posting.. love that it’s like tumblr.. also love that it gives you the option to choose what you want to do with everyone you meet. With the either friends, chats, dates
False Discount
This app is great in theory. Though the pay to play is simply not worth it. There are not enough real people in my location to justify the price. And then when cancelling it gave me the option for a discount, I opted in for 39.99 for 6 months. Only to get charged 99.99. Get it together. I want my money back.
Pls improve the algorithm
The algorithm needs to be improved, which only recommends it to the same users who appeal to body photos. You should also invest more in ads to reach more audiences in all regions, the application has potential.

^^^that is how i feel about this app so far, and I haven't even been able to access it. There is a wait list in order to prevent harassment, which I understand, but here is where my problem lies. After filling out the online form to create my account, it said that there would be an invite code sent to my email account within the next 24 hours. Well here i am, 36 hours later and still nothing in my email. So i tried contacting support, and had to go through a whole other form which included submitting a photo of myself, my instagram account, my twitter account, and a detailed description of what I could bring to collective as a creative. A) that is far too much to do just to try to get help to access the app then get told you'll get notifications through the app about your account - how am I supposed to receive notifications through the app if i cant even get in??? Seriously work on that. And B) if you advertise yourself as a digital gay bar, that is what you should be. But you are a digital collective for LGBTQ+ creatives, even though you don't advertise your app as one. Fix your advertising so you'll get the right people downloading the app, otherwise all you will receive is complaints. (I say this as someone who just finished writing a novel) I sincerely hope to see this issue resolved, but I highly doubt it will be.
Notifications suck
Hate that I can’t control notifications. Not every gay wants Their phone constantly lightning up with “we found people for you 🏳️🌈” And yet when you go into notification settings, you can’t even turn it off. It’s actual BS. Let us choose what we want to see. Notification settings are limited to actual intersections, but there is no control over what the app wants you to See or know.

I’m loving but
I wanna start saying that I’m loving being on collective app more and more. I feel like everything is very visually appealing, it’s giving Tumblr vibes which i really love (more that please) but adding this Tinder sort of dynamic, because it has this thing where you can kind set intentions with other users and if theres a match, start a conversation. For me, it’s been great to chat with people around the world. It’s a new more authentic platform in my opinion that i can display my content. And appreciate that, f** Instagram. My only suggestion would be a better developing in the chat options and possibilities a bit more. In a way that allows me to respond to a specific question or react to someone’s text—things that could enrich the communication experience. Right now, I find it a little bit difficult and annoying to chatting there because these tools don’t exist. So, any way to make the chat more interactive would be better.

Bittersweet to leave, but didn’t get anything out of it
I posted at the beginning a lot and got hardly any engagement and not meaning likes but actually trying to connect with people. Most of the guys here are the “gay super model” type and I’m an average guy and also not white. So posts didn’t get engagement and people didn’t respond. I hope they’re able to find their footing. The idea and concept is great but if you don’t fit the “Twitter/X” aesthetic and have an ultra ripped body you’ll likely just fall into the void.

Useless and spammy
Mostly this app just spams you with notifications and popups about “features” that you can’t turn off. I get at least 5 notifications a day about people that I should follow who live halfway around the world. I don’t want to follow those people and I especially don’t want notifications that I should follow those people. This app is just trying to be Instagram where you can say if you want friends or dates. Also, why am I forced to follow people at all? If someone doesn’t want to chat with me, I don’t want to be forced to follow them and get updates from them. The last straw was that I got a notification from Collective saying “We miss you.” Stop. There’s nothing to do in the app besides look at people who aren’t near me.

i’ve been on the waitlist for months now with absolutely no support. they have no problem sending me push notifications as if my account has been approved though. seems the only way to get in is to pay

Misleading!! Just another sexualised gay app
This app really isn’t about making friends or finding a genuine community. Most of the profiles I’ve seen are shirtless men with suggestive photos, so it feels much more like Grindr than a place to build wholesome gay friendships. The ads make it look like a space for gay friends meeting up for dinners and community events, but that feels very far from the actual experience. It comes across as superficial and misleading. Honestly, I wish I’d never signed up. It felt like a waste of time.
Better than meta/instagram
This app is a welcoming and wholesome app that makes me feel comfortable and safe using it. Great way to express all sides of the LGBTQIA+ community.
A Bit Superficial
It’s no different than all the other “hook up” apps. You attempt to connect with people just based on random selfies. There isn’t much profile information to go off of. It blindly forces you to follow people during the setup. And at first glance, it definitely didn’t seem to have much diversity in skin complexion… if you get my point. Just not for me.

This app feeling how tumblr did back in the day! It’s a breath of fresh air. It’s aesthetically pleasing, incredibly easy to use, and the nearby feature helps to build queer community. 10/10 no notes

The Collective is a welcoming and safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. It feels authentic rather than performative, and it’s a great place to connect with others and build community. Highly recommended.
Not great unless you’re jacked and/or look like a model.
The purpose of this app was seemingly about being a safe space/community seeking for LGBTQIA+. At first glance of going through it, it’s really just emulating a night out in West Hollywood checking your Grindr to just a bunch of insanely hot guys posting selfies/revealing pics. That was literally it. Just a bunch of hot guys on my feed. Next.
