I downloaded the app a week ago. I tried it. It didn’t work like the FB ad said it would so I canceled. Not only that, but I verified I canceled because they have a scammy way of keeping you subscribed when you try to cancel. So imagine my RAGE when I just now (days later) received notification that I was charged $79.99 for the annual subscription. I went to their website and there is a way to contact them. Oh, but you have to put in a subject line and as soon as you get so many characters in, the body of your message blacks out and you are referred to the FAQs page. What kind of scam is that?!! They’re trying to take advantage of the neurodivergent but don’t they realize that there are alarms and calendar reminders to cancel this stuff that isn’t helpful? Scammy scammers are going to scam I guess. I just had to get the word out because this is ridiculous.
Super aber nerviges Up-selling

App was okay but tried to charge me after I unsubscribed
Read title. It prompted thru a bunch of questions and I completed it during trial period, then random charge attempt at 2AM popped up and it was this app trying to charge me.
Overly sales oriented
Strong core product that’s really useful. But interface constantly trying to get you spend more and wade through their own adverts to get where you want. Which I really resent considering it’s already quite premium priced
Money Well Spent
This app has been the best thing to happen to me when it comes to trying to focus when studying. As a doctoral student there is a lot of reading, researching and writing involved. I am easily distracted and struggle to focus for long periods of time. However, with this app I have been able to keep my mind on the task at hand essentially until I’m finished with the task or until I stop to take a break. This app has helped me so much with my studies and I will forever be grateful to the developers that were able to make this happen. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Scam - preying on ppl w/ ADHD
The process of canceling is specifically designed to make it difficult. Incredibly scam-y. Apple should investigate them it’s so bad. The process for cancelling purposefully makes you go to different sites, switches yes/no questions, colors asks over and over if you want to stay (sometime asks if you want to cancel) forces you to leave the site then come back to cancel. It’s unethical and gross. Shame on you. Edit. We have tried repeatedly to contact Endel via the phone number they provide along with the credit card charge (listed by AmEx as Endel’s contact) and they do not answer or respond. We have emailed. No response. Have reported to our credit card company and Apple. This type of conduct makes me uncomfortable trying ANY app on the platform as long as companies can get away with this.

Downloaded the app but it never actually turned on. Just took up space on my memory. Fix this and I’ll try again
Unimpressed
I was pretty unimpressed with the Endel app. I initially downloaded it after seeing an ad on social media promoting their 8D sounds and rhythms, which was the main reason I decided to pay for a subscription. Unfortunately, after subscribing, I found that there was only one 8D sound available. There really isn’t much variety to choose from, and I also feel like the Focus, Sleep, and Relaxation options all sound very similar. What made the experience even more disappointing is that, despite purchasing a yearly subscription, every time I open the app I’m bombarded with promotions asking me to purchase a lifetime subscription. It’s frustrating to pay for a full year and still constantly feel like I’m being advertised to and pushed to spend more money. Overall, the app just wasn’t what I expected based on the advertising. I was hoping for a much wider selection of immersive sounds and more variety between the different modes. For the price, I expected a lot more.
Something changed ?
I have been using this app to sleep for 2+ years. Over the last few months there have been a very unsettling, high-pitched noises mixed in with the normal sleep sound that I use that either wakes me up out of my sleep or interrupt my drifting off to sleep to the point where it’s giving me anxiety. There’s no setting that fixes it so I’ve had to just stop using the app altogether.. it’s unfortunate cause I really liked it.

Refund Warning!!
I cancelled my subscription during the trial period but was still charged the annual rate. Tried to seek refund through customer service and told they can’t do it through Apple Store. Unfortunately, Apple only shows the free trial. The company charged my card outside of Apple because I received an alert from my credit card company about the charge. It should have been through Apple. Try at your own risk.
LOVE except for one annoying flaw
Absolutely adore this app. It’s helped me with brainstorming, with my focus, even with sleeping and daytime power naps! My one complaint is i paid for premium and yet every time I open it I have to tap through an ad for premium! 😡Like, I’m already using and paying for it, why is this still showing up CONSTANTLY? It’s annoying and obnoxious. Otherwise, five stars.
Customer service?
I have used this app religiously for over 6 years. Sleeping, working, focus, in my classroom, you name it. I have seen it change and evolve so much in that time. The one thing I’ve noticed that has taken a turn. Is customer service. I have reached out via email, but it seems responses are now nonexistent, even for a long time subscribers. I remember having an opportunity to speak with one of the developers who wanted to talk with baseline users over Zoom. It seems those days are gone.
False Advertising on 8D Odyssey
I’m a premium member who was very excited when 8D Odyssey was introduced given the marketing all over social media. I have been very disappointed with how it actually is. Much slower and unexciting than what was advertised. Why advertise something you don’t actually offer? Willing to cancel my premium membership over this.

Invasive and off putting
I had to delete this app because there is no way to make it stop playing automatically when I put my headphones on. I searched the entire menu and there was no option. I tried following several different sets of directions I found searching the web but none of them worked. Endel obviously wants to make it hard so they keep changing the process and have now removed it entirely. Edit: the developer sent me a canned response that in no way addressed my complaint. It’s either AI or just lazy.
Good but lifetime plan is crazy
The endel app is pretty good. I only use the sleep part which used to be free. My problem is the subscription isn’t a great idea for this and a lifetime plan at £250!!! Thats just wild for a ‘pretty good’ white noise app.

I purchased this app after seeing it advertised on Facebook. The song featured in the ads is NOWHERE on the app and what they do offer is really disappointing.
Good but…
All is good but I don’t understand why music plays when listening to the Solfeggio tones. I just want to listen to the frequencies for a longer time. How do I do that?

They keep trying to charge me $80 but there’s no way for me to cancel or end it. ADHD tax but not from forgetting - instead from being targeted by an app promising to help.

Can’t use this app for more than 5-minutes
Useless apps that can’t even let you enjoy it for more than 5-minutes without having to pay. With AI on the rise, developers who demand paying is annoying. Instead of reducing the functionality of the app with the free version, freaking give people a break and let them enjoy it before pushing for money. All the animation stuff on the app looks fake and totally random with no actual functionality. Give me the full version for free so I can actually see if it actually do something real, or if it’s all FAKE
Great but could have more variaty
I have been using it for 10min sleep timer and dynamic focus for work but apart from that I find it repetitive and it doesn’t have a variety of sounds. I would love to see added new 8d sounds that move around head side to side when phone is tilted or with headphones - this Instagram creator guy keeps promoting this dynamic sound mix but when i click into it - just deep-links to the Endel app and the sound doesn’t exist sadly.
app has nice UI but poor sound design and scam practices
all sleeping noise are unusable due to harsh crossover transitions every period of time. even white noise doesn't work well as it gets interrupted by noise transitions with poor crossover every hour or so, which will wake you up... on top of that, once you're subscribed for a year, they still try to scam you by putting the lifetime subscription in a sneaky way in the middle of the screen everytime you open the app, until you click ok by mistake and loose 120£ ..
Great App, But the Constant Upselling Is Too Much

Shocked
I must’ve accidentally signed up for a yearly subscription during a free trial and I got charged $119 by this app, which I was very shocked by, but I was even more shocked the fact that they refunded me instantly. It was sent back to my account within 10 minutes. I am so amazed by this app’s honesty. It makes me want to give them the $120 back. Because I’ve had other apps like this do that to me before and it was impossible to cancel the subscription and they fought me tooth and nail to get the money back that I requested a refund from my bank so this app is genuinely amazing and good people I give them 100 stars.
Double charged, customer support nonexistent
I canceled my subscription ahead of the trial period ending since I opted to purchase the lifetime plan. They charged me for the subscription anyway, on top of the lifetime plan. Reaching out to customer support to get this fixed puts you in an endless loop of automated responses and is useless. I bet the response to this review will be to ask me to reach out to support so they can put me in this endless loop again. Complete garbage.

Моя история Endel начинается +- с 2020 года, приложение было бесплатным, без ограничения в 10 минут. Мне нравилось всё, дизайн, концепция, звуки, простота - я начал спать под него вечерами, месяцами, годами. Этот магический звук стал частью моей жизни, я рассказывал о приложении всем своим друзьям, боготворяя его как «волшебную таблетку» для сна, медитаций и фокуса. Множество из них до сих пор используют Endel (и платят за него). Но потом появилось ограничение в 10 минут и магия разрушилась. Ребят, я всё понимаю, нужно зарабатывать, я готов заплатить единоразово и забыть, просто наслаждаясь звуком. Мне даже навороты не нужны никакие, хотя бы 2-3 базовых звука. Но 20.000₽? Многие профессиональные программы для монтажа, создания музыки, да вообще почти любая программа - стоит дешевле. Почему так?

Ruined by constant upselling to existing premium users
Endel’s soundscapes are excellent, and I happily pay for Premium. It’s one of my favorite apps for focus and sleep. Unfortunately, the constant upselling has become a major distraction. Every time I open the app, I’m greeted with a full-screen advertisement for the Lifetime plan. The close button is small and difficult to tap, making it feel like I’m being nudged toward the purchase rather than simply dismissing the promotion. This is especially disappointing because Endel is designed to reduce stress and distractions. As a paying Premium subscriber, I shouldn’t have to close a full-screen ad every time I launch the app. If Premium users could permanently dismiss promotional content, I’d happily change this back to 5 stars.
Amazing
I changed my original review. This app actually has far more options than I originally saw and it’s amazing. I do wish I could play more than one solfeggio tone at once, or have the option to disable the added music that comes in. This is because it takes a few different tones to hit all the tinnitus I hear 😅. Maybe in a future update? Thanks for the app!!!
Keeps bugging me about lifetime subscription
Already purchased an annual subscription yet the app gives me a pop up for getting a lifetime subscription every time I enter the app, with seemingly no way to turn it off. Anti-consumer practice.

Sibling is a doctor, she suggested I try this with my poor attention span. Seems to work! Latest macOS version, much improved.
Downgrade
I love Endel, and the mobile version is still excellent but the desktop version is now useless. The widget is completely non functional, the majority of the time when I open the app it does not load and I have to restart and hope until it does. And when I tune a sound, the music completely cuts out to begin again defeating the whole smooth beautiful style of Endel that I love. I also wish the ai feature was more accessible to plan scenarios, rather than having to go through workaround that I do now. I just use the Endel app on my iPad, airplay to my Mac now sadly
Mixed feelings
Very mixed feelings about this app! I like the app blocking function a lot but find the various sounds need a lot of time and full immersion in the app to do what I want it to do. One more super frustrating thing is the constant pop up regarding the lifetime subscription. I think it’s super cheeky to force this many ads on paid version customers

I’ve been struggling with insomnia for two decades. I don’t understand what the science is behind this, but this is not a gimmick. I’ve tried everything…the combo of sounds is different than other sound apps..this actually works! First time I’ve dreamed since I can remember.

I wasn’t impressed with this app. I used it for two days and I canceled it before the free trial ended and they still charge me 80 freaking dollars don’t buy it.
March 2026 macOS Update
While the sounds have always been great, I’m disappointed with the changes to the macOS app. Taking away almost all the menu bar functionality and placing it all in an app window greatly increases friction. If I’ve closed the Endel window I need to Spotlight launch it again or manually search for it in the dock to reopen and change any settings. I don’t want to have an Endel app window open at all times. The menu bar dropdown was perfect - please bring back the option - even if it’s just to place the new app interface into a dropdown menu that can be accessed anytime.
Annoying upselling for paid users.
I'm a paying user, an annual subscriber, but nearly every few times that I open the app, I'm prompted to upgrade or shown promotions for lifetime plans. It's frustrating and feels unnecessary, especially since I'm already paying. These prompts are often the first thing I see, which slows me down from actually using the app for its intended purpose, focus. The core product is good, but the constant upselling hurts the experience and focus.
False Advertising
Purchased a discounted annual subscription based on an Instagram advert and a particular song featured in the advert. Turns out the song (or any song with lyrics) does not exist on the app. Did try app for rest of day but didn’t find anything of benefit so requested a refund.
Scam & Fraud
Like hundreds of other reviews here I was scammed by this app. It advertises a free trial but instead charges you for a whole year. The devs will respond to the review and say email us so we can help you but when you email them they reply and say there’s nothing they can do because it’s up to Apple. When you try to refund through Apple for the scam it gets rejected. Somehow Apple unknowingly are helping them scam iOS users and even labeling them as “Editors Choice”, but if you look at all the most recent reviews they are all complaining about this scam. Edit: Case in point look at the response below by the developer. Then I proceeded to email them AGAIN. They told me there’s nothing they can do and directed me back to Apple. This is daylight robbery.

Хорошее приложение с одним существенным «но»
Хочу поделиться впечатлениями о приложении Endel. Оно действительно классное: в нем собраны очень атмосферные и качественные мелодии. Как человек, который мучается с бессонницей и проблемами сна, я перепробовала множество приложений и просто музыки, но ничего не подходило так хорошо, как звуки в Endel. Оно реально помогло мне успокаиваться и быстрее засыпать. Да, признаюсь честно: изначально я искала ему бесплатную альтернативу, потому что, как говорится, «жаба душит» платить за подписку. Но я ни в коем случае не обесцениваю труд создателей — само приложение очень эстетичное, удобное и практичное. Интерфейс радует глаз, и даже в бесплатной версии есть из чего выбрать. Однако есть один огромный минус, который не дает поставить высшую оценку: в бесплатном доступе треки играют всего 10 минут. Я засыпаю долго, и мне приходится снова и снова тянуться к телефону, чтобы включить мелодию заново. Это очень раздражает и мешает процессу засыпания. Было бы просто замечательно, если бы разработчики хотя бы в бесплатной версии увеличили время проигрывания до 15-20 минут. Это сделало бы приложение гораздо комфортнее. А возможность слушать без ограничений — это уже мечты, конечно. (На то и подписка). В итоге ставлю 4 звезды. Снимаю балл исключительно за слишком короткое время прослушивания в бесплатном режиме. К стоимости подписки претензий нет — если бы не этот нюанс, оно стоила бы своих денег и было полное уверенное желание оформить подписку сразу на год вперед⭐️
Lacks compared to iOS
I enjoy the Endel app for iOS, but both the Mac App and the AppleTV app are lacking in features. The Mac app hasn’t been shown any love in over a year, and doesn’t include many of the settings the iOS app does. The AppleTV app is even worse, as it doesn’t even have the basic sleep app. It just plays this one track, and you can’t really do anything with it. It’s also super slow and buggy. I think need to put some effort into these two apps, or stop advertising that you have access across apps, and just stick to mobile.
Get repetitive, not much variety
When I first tried Endel, I believed it would generate music in an ambient way, using probabilities, weightings and chance under the hood to give me something unique every time. After my trial period, I realised it wasn’t doing that at all – instead, the app uses layers of pre-rendered sound, and while it may trigger longer loops in a different order, it gets repetitive and annoying. For example, I can’t listen to ‘Dynamic Focus’ because of that awful repeating melody that sounds like a child created it. There is also very rarely any new content added, despite the elements being pre-rendered. Too many “novel” settings show off the capabilities, including “8D Odyssey” for spatial effects and “Move” for movement-based music, but what I personally really want is more variety, and new soundscapes to try. Oh, and I don’t want a free tote bag, I want cheaper pricing.
