Fair, balanced, and eye opening.
I am a huge fan of Ground News. I’ve grown to trust them to offer access to a broad spectrum of news stories and outlets. I love the fact that they source from worldwide media, and that their app and website are easy to navigate and understand. It’s clear that the so-called Left and Right are being fed news catered to their biases, but at Ground News I can cut through that noise to learn what each side is hearing, and hopefully be better placed to offer both sides when talking with my friends or strangers.
Hidden pay wall
Yet another app they get you to download it. create an account go through 20 screens and then they hit you with the subscription.
Perfect, except price
You’re telling me that the goal of this service is to show the truth and not be bias about sources but then they force you into a seven day free trial and then it’s paid after that it’s pretty obvious that they have good intent, but missed the purpose of the app. I’d much rather spend hours. Researching the topic from other sources that are free than waste my money on this.
Below average
Generic summarizes, questionable facts, probably just ai, buggy app, I think google news does it better. Blind spot and/or political ranking trendy at first but really just a flashy feature. I thought it would have pulled up things I hadn’t seen, but naa
Great idea, but
I downloaded Ground News as a potential moderate alternative news aggregator after becoming frustrated with the bias of others. I love the idea, but the stories are presented with the left bias articles first. There does not appear to be a way to change this setting. As a consequence, the default doesn’t look all that different from other left leaning sources without a lot of swiping. Allowing users to choose the bias that is presented as the default or simply defaulting to the middle would better align with the mission of the app.
Excellent news source!
I love being able to review the headlines and see how things are being reported from both sides of the spectrum. Helps me have a more balanced view. I hate how polarized we’ve all become.
DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!!!
I genuinely loved the idea of this, but after accessing the free trial I realized it truly wasn’t worth the money. I cancelled my subscription BEFORE the free trial ended, yet they’re still trying to pull $42 off of my card. I keep my money in a separate account and only move what I need, so I’m now getting “card declined” messages on a daily basis. Since the app runs their subscription through the App Store, I’m now soft banned and can’t update any of my apps because I refuse to pay for a subscription I already cancelled. Absolute scam.
Great👍
I’ve stopped using most social media, so I’ve been slacking a lot on keeping up with what’s going on in the world. Ground News is very easy for me to navigate and the multiple links for full coverage is extremely helpful. From a personal standpoint, I heavily dislike the AI summary feature and it did put me off from using the application for a while (hence me not giving a full five star), but most everything else about the app I find great.
Frustrating as hell the moment you want to read source article
If the point is to restore credibility to the news by comparing coverage across political views it delivers (for the most part). But credibility rises and falls on the readers ability to simply visit a source to verify it or research deeper… and her GroundNews fails miserably. Try using the mobile app to read a GroundNews article and then navigate to an individual article *outside* the app. This journey is an exercise and frustration. GroundNews wants your data, so they keep you landlocked. They would rather keep you and your data than let you travel freely and the verify sources with ease.
iOS 26.5.2
Frequently, when I try to open the app, it will not load past the splash screen. I'm using an up-to-date iPhone. This is frustrating.
Excellent app except for subscription issues
(Just changed my rating from 2 to 5 stars now that my subscription works, but ngl it was frustrating.) The Ground News app is very well designed and is a pleasure to use. The concept is brilliant and I consider it to be a reliable news source. Assuming no more glitches, the premium version is well worth the fee.
THIS IS AN AI APP
AI is destroying humanity & wild life. Rather than using our brains this app took the AI approach. Great concept of an app, but when I saw its all AI I deleted it
Oh Canada
I’m on the free tier, and I really like ground news, considering paying for it. My one gripe is that whichever section I’m in, (international, for you, etc.) i see so much Canadian news compared to what I have actually chosen to see (I want to see more Australian news). Nothing against Canada but why the heavy bias towards Canadian news?
Cannot unsub
Information is fantastic. Does exactly what it says. However there isn’t a button to unsubscribe through the app nor on their website. To me that completely ruined the experience. I intended on coming back when I could afford but now I’ll just sort through information myself again and save the extra $100.
Getting worse
Initially I enjoyed the bullet-point summaries of the stories but as 2026 progresses, the summaries are taking on an increasingly left-leaning bias. I already cancelled my paid account and my give up on it all together.
Great News Service succinct, no editorializing
Great sorry hit one star meat 10
Claims to be unbiased but
Every ground news ad on youtube promoting lies against Israel. Previously sent me to news article it declared “center”. First paragraph whined about “election lies”, second about “election deniers”. Real journalists would say “disputed claims.” This is just more fake news pretending to be a fact checker.
Good news summaries app
I use Ground News for general updates on international issues. It shows nice summaries of stories and it is good at showing the same article sent to multiple news outlets.
Not good
Distrust anything with a large marketing budget. I highly recommend anybody to look into the board of directors of ground news and then decide if this is worth spending your hard earned money on.
2 year Subscriber
2 years in and I generally like the app. PRO-The Left to Right leaning publications are easy to navigate, allowing for varying points of view when viewing multiple articles on subjects of interest. It is also easy to see what articles are being underreported based on a political point of view CON-The factuality assessments for publications appears to be fixed in time based on the app creators original assessment. Additionally, the majority of left leaning publications are rewarded with high factuality and right leaning publications are mixed to low. Additionally, I have noticed on several occasions that the app headlines can be more critical of the topic and not align with any of the supporting headlines for articles listed. There are no means of subscriber feedback to address these types of concerns. Conclusion: the app is a good source of news topics and does allow the user to read varying points of view easily. I feel that the factuality assessments by the staff should be more fluid, and hold publications accountable for past articles that have been proven to lack some factuality. The fixed rating, as it has been, rewards or punishes publications based on the boards feeling at the time, and not overall body of work
Love it
Ground News is great. It really helps you to make up your own mind about a subject in the headlines, instead of getting fed with news the mainstream media thinks you need to hear.
Communist Organization
Your summaries are total bias towards their socialist agenda. Defending criminals and terrorizing organizations and countries
App immediately crashes on iphone
I’ve tried to uninstall then reinstall many times to no avail. I’ll be using the browser version until this isn’t an issue.
Not Informative
All it does is have AI read an article and tell you if the language reads as bias. It does not fact check anything. It does not assess whether information is purposefully being withheld. You already know which outlets skew which way. This does not make you any more informed or enlightened.
Right idea; needs more resources
This app has the right idea: cultivate balanced reporting and highlight the blind spots in media reporting. Unfortunately, it needs better underlying resources since it relies on smaller, obscure media outlets, most of them reporting the same wire feeds.
Excellent Sources
I am new to Ground News, so far I’m satisfied.
Not What it Seems
Ground News is not the app you think it is. In an effort to avoid bias they dig their heels into bias by using Ad Fontes’ bias chart which is wildly biased against the left putting Midas Touch as less truthful than Fox News which is objectively false. There’s no way Ground can be unbiased when aggregating from such biased sources.
Good
Great coverage, but a bit ungainly
AI summaries are often very misleading or just wrong
A news site should never rely on AI to summarize stories, its journalistic malpractice. Just today an article summary from Ground News claimed that only 1,250 Palestinians have been killed since the Oct 7 attacks when the widely accepted estimates exceed 70,000+. This is unacceptable. These types of inaccuracies undermined any credibility their largely AI powered product provides. Read real news from real journalists.
Amazing potential, but
I absolutely love the app, the concept, the design, the feel, pretty much everything. Yet, I find myself not getting what I need from it. AI generated content (I believe they are?) often lack substance, titles and sum ups most of time give the update but not the context, so unless you are already aware of the background of a situation, you have no idea what it’s actually about. Additionally, all I see is endless blind spot for the right, but almost never blind spot for the left, making the whole concept of the app, ineffective.
they gave me a refund
i like ground news, i use it, but i dont have the money right now; i had an automatic payment go through for 100 bucks, which was bad for me, but they refunded it no problem. these guys are great and if you can afford it its worth it
Psychological operation
Do not trust their non-bias news, it’s very biased. Just because they market as known by doesn’t mean they’re not. They consider Fox News more reliable than many other more reliable outlets.
Pretty solid
Would love to see comments somehow incorporated.
All international sources.
I am only interested in US, British, and Canadian sources. If you have to link to sources and articles behind a paywall, that should be clearly noted so I don’t waste my time.
Shady auto renew tactics
Be warned, this company will turn off any notifications that your bill is about renew, and enable auto renew. They did this to steal your money. Besides that I did occasionally enjoy the app, but found the auto renew nonsense incredibly insulting.
Love Ground News
I absolutely love Ground News and they are my go-to morning news routine! I love that I don’t have to jump around to many different websites and stories because they are all right here. And I really love how they break down all the news information on who the story is sponsored by and how it’s bias leans (left or right)! If you want the best access to all the news in one place come check out Ground News! They are the best and have excellent customer service!!
Naive aggregator/Hard to quit
Nice to have an app that scrapes news sites globally, but the analysis is either shallow or lacking. The email summaries are particularly poor, relying on shallow regional stereotypes like “East Coast Elite” and “West Coast Innovator.” Basically, you get dumber from reading their work. I also made the mistake of subscribing via their website, which is harder to cancel than a scammer or porn site. Literally cannot be done from the app. Don’t recommend.
Good platform, terrible unsubscribe process
The platform has been effective at making it easier to read news regularly, which was what I wanted to do, and it was nice to have all the different news stories by different outlets compiled together, so that I could compare and consider the news I was getting. It made critical thinking easier, I would say. However, one thing I would say is that for a time, the BBC was labelled left-wing, which is very misrepresentative. They fixed it soon after I noticed though, which was good. However, when I tried to unsubscribe, I found the process very tricky and frustrating. At first, I had to go into the terms and conditions to find any mention of unsubscribing, then the only thing I could make sense of was that I should email them, so I did. I got a pretty prompt reply, but they didn’t unsubscribe me, they told me I had to go to the original place I’d signed up for ground news to unsubscribe. It didn’t tell me where this was. Eventually I found out I’d already cancelled my subscription and it was all a waste of my time. Not the end of the world. But it was ultimately a more frustrating process than it should have been. Something ground news could do to improve the site I think would be tackling the cookies that pop up every time you click on a new article. It can be hard to wade through different articles when you’re constantly confronted by accept and reject buttons, in my opinion. I actually don’t know if this is something ground news can do themselves or if it has to come from the news outlets, but I think it would make the user experience better. Thanks.
Unfortunately Biased
Comparison of the news on Epstein Files and other important issues was lacking completely.
Decent feed, but not as good as I thought it would be
Signed up for a year, but the apps onboarding process felt really lackluster - I didn’t feel like I got any real value with the coverage slider, or blindspot labels (both felt under explained). Which is funny given that’s the whole USP of the app. Happy to provide more feedback for the team.
Great app. Greater price.
This app is amazing. My emotional response to the world has changed in ONE week. I traveled from Straight Arrow News which was starting to bend left. I think AI integration with news is helpful because it gives barebones facts. One cool addition would be text to speech so I can read and listen at once to articles. But. Couldn’t praise this app enough. The price would make me pay for this any time of the day.
Another left leaning organization
They seem to have programmed their reporting to Democrat leaning/ favoring views. It’s hard to get a balanced perspective when the logarithms are so left leaning.
Helpful News Site
I am finding Ground News very helpful in choosing what news I read. Great site!
Gives false perception of being unbiased.
Because ground news only relies on two rating sources for bias determination, they do a poor job on their bias ratings. There is a high tendency to list left leaning sources as having mixed or low factuality. When challenged by this observation, GN absolves themselves by simply saying ‘hey, we just report what ad fontes and media bias fact check tell us. I have pointed out several times that the left leaning sources such as cnn, NYT, WAPO NPR, and others will often place subtle statements of opinion in their titles or choose what to report while conveniently leaving out important facts that would change the truth of story if it were presented. Example - AP is listed as highly factual yet it has pieces like the one about Israeli department of justice indicting Jewish settlers for violence … a true statement… but then adds in the title that the indictment is a rare occurrence. This is not simply a matter of bias. It is an opinion to rate whether something occurs rarely without providing more facts to justify that statement. What do they mean by rare? What is the definition of? 1 in a 100 cases, 1 in a 1000 or one in 10. Moreover what one person considers rare is often based on opinion. So the title may sem factually correct, but it loses its factual relevance once the title adds an editorial element. This is not merely bias, rather it is factually debatable. These same sources refused to cover stories like Hunter Biden Laptop when it first came out. Or the many leaks about Biden’s mental and cognitive decline. By not covering these and other stories they not only demonstrated bias, but also an inability to be truthful and transparent …Aka… dedicated to telling the facts about important events. Calling a news agency that hides critical facts or buries them deep in the article is anything but a highly factual organization. To say otherwise is simple argument through semantics. I cancelled my subscription after 2 years of asking them to reform with no luck.
Good premise, sadly lacking accessible features
Would love to rate this on the concept alone, which is solid, however the execution and user experience is impacting app use. It would be nice to be able to change font size and contrast but the app is locked into rigidly displaying the specifics of what their design team thinks is how the layout should look. Focusing on look and feel needs to be a part of the equation and not the entirety of the experience. I hope future updates allow for a more customized experience for people who need larger fonts or higher contrast (I get it, soft grey tones are nice to look at and impossible to read mouse-type fits nicely as descriptive text) but the reality of meeting accessibility standards means you have to be flexible enough to allow users to determine what works for them and not what makes the designer happiest. It wouldn’t take much for me to up my rating but it would require the app to give me the freedom to read the information it relays comfortably.
Love Ground News
I love Ground News for the fact that it always has stories that no one else is carrying. I can scroll for 10 minutes and know the world situation as it is to the moment.
Accessibility Issues
Have attempted to get Ground News to fix screenreader issues for years. They do not care about blind users. If this company gets big enough to pass the ADA minimum, then I will see them in court. News should be for all!
Nearly there
Presents a wide variety of options to see how different outlets present the news on a subject. The ratings can be misleading, for example if x amount sites report a story the same, then all those sites should be rated with the same factuality. The summaries where different leaning outlets is most useful. Would be nice to eventually see like a variance rating. For now I take the right-left and factuality ratings with a pinch of salt. They don’t seem accurate or that could just be bias coming through 🙂
Not what it professes to be
Very disappointed. I downloaded Ground News because it professed to be a non-biased news source, but it absolutely is not. A truly unbiased news source does not just give equal weight to clearly biased newspapers and then rate it as being not biased. I had no idea this company was from Canada when I downloaded it, I used it for over a year and now I’m deleting it because it shows the same Canadian bias this Canadian was trying to get away from. Do better, people.
Add widgets
Great app, the feed could be more balanced in showing far right and far left content instead of it constantly being one side. But please add widgets like any other app for the lockscreen and Home Screen
