The Best
Astrospheric is the best Astro app there is period!! End of debate! I still believe this years later!
Paid not recognized
I paid for a subscription. The subscription shows in my Apple account. But I can’t log in or restore to a professional account.
How to flip East and West pass view please.

Awesome app
Love the app All the info at your fingertips
Smoke forecasting is so broken it is crippling functionality of the broader app
Can you PLEASE add a way to completely disable smoke as part of the forecast? I have disabled every toggle switch available for this and I am still getting “Transparency: Cloudy (smoke)” despite there being absolutely no smoke reported anywhere near my area and nothing visible. It’s been this way for months. Every day the app says smoke is creating poor conditions and every day it’s not at all accurate.
All In One
Such a handy app for forecasting cloud coverage! It has so many other features like temp, wind, moon schedule, etc. Will use for the foreseeable future!
Used To Be Great
The app used to be great.. then it just stopped working. Even after updating it fails to give a forecast. Just a notice saying “network error”. Too bad.. I used the app frequently for about two years. Now it’s useless
Very useful, but getting ads
I really like the usefulness of this app. I don’t waste time putting up equipment and can plan my astrophotography sessions with a good deal of confidence. My only complaint is I have a pro subscription but continue to see ads. What’s up with that? Would have given 5 stars otherwise.
Not Accurate for Forecasts or Current Conditions
I like the user interface of this app, and of course it provides a lot of information that could be useful to astronomers. But I’m surprised that it gets such good ratings from astronomers. On most occasions, the forecast has simply been wrong. It seems to also be wrong in real time — for example, it’ll be 100% cloudy outside but this app will show a blue box and report 0% cloud cover at that time. My GPS location is correct, but it just keeps reporting conditions that are not correct. As a result, I don’t find it useful for predicting stargazing conditions. The app itself is laid out nicely though, so if they could improve their weather source I think this would actually be a great app.
Wrong prédiction
Induit souvent en erreur
Novice here, and One of the best $29.99yr I’ve spent.
Wish there was a lifetime option. Probably be too expensive. Look I didn’t know much about astronomy before a few months ago, but this app help guide me through some long trial and error sessions. The pro version has SO much good information with detailed events. Just keep the tutorial handy, it was all worth the set up using a detailed walk through. Big thank you to the team still working behind the scenes to improve!!!!
Stopped Workong
I’ve had this app for some time now. And on my iPhone iOS 18.7.2 it stopped working a few weeks back. The main page keeps reloading, no matter where I’m at in the app. It’s essentially useless now. And I can’t find any way to contact the developer for support.. I will really miss this app, and will be hard pressed to find a replacement. But I don’t seem to have any other option as this point.
Maybe more detailed?
Love the app but would be nice to see the components that go into the seeing rating.. and also might add at least jet stream speed.
Just not accurate
Love the interface but the forecast for me is not accurate. Shows no clouds (dark blue) when there is 109% cloud cover. East of England.
Precision tool that helps determine when to shoot
I LOVE this app. It’s been a godsend for astrophotography and helping identify good seeing for my location. That is very beneficial when determining if I want to shoot in Ha, for better detail, or if Oiii is the play tonight since the seeing is a bit worse. The accuracy astonishes me… why can’t all weather reports get this precise! Really one of the best values I’ve found.
Lockdown mode
iPhone with lockdown mode seems to not be supported. App fails to get past location permissions page.
Great app for astrophotography and astronomy
Love this app and check it frequently when planning photography outings.
Temperatures wildly & consistantly inacurate
I’ve used Astrospheric for years and love nearly everything about it — it’s an incredible tool for planning astrophotography. However, the temperature data for Arizona is consistently 8–12°F too low, making dew and temperature planning unreliable. Other apps are accurate within 1°F. Please fix or improve the temperature source — this app would be perfect, and I’d subscribe instantly if it were accurate.
Love it!
Everything I need in one place, works very well and usually almost spot on, prob more accurate than our local TV weatherman, ha ha!
Too hard to look at
I would pay for this except it is so horrible looking and hard to read. Not very visually accessible and it’s too dark with too much of cryptic icons and language. Make this more accessible. Why does it look and read so awful?
Astrospheric is first rate!
Great app for amateur astronomers. Intuitive to use and informative.
Isn’t accurate unless you buy a subscription
Forecasts have a high degree of inaccuracy on the free plan. I’ve had nights where it said conditions were bad and it was going to be cloudy when they ended up being perfect, and vice versa. Cloud forecast has been wrong several times. The app tells you to buy a subscription to have access to accurate forecasts.
Best app for astrophotogrpahy
This app is the most accurate I’ve used yet. Worth every penny.
No data in my state
No data available in Hawaii.
Ok
Cloud forecast not bad but it’s been very inaccurate for wind. We’ve had moderate to gale force winds last few weeks and it said 12-15 km/hr.
I really wanted to love this app, but...
Extremely well-put together and very visually-pleasing. Seems to have everything an astrophotographer could want. There’s only one problem: the forecast for my area has been consistently inaccurate for the last few weeks. Worse yet, it’s been inaccurate in that every time it has promised clear skies, none have appeared. I suppose I could give it credit for always getting its forecast for clouds correct though. It seems to me that the problem lies in the forecast mode upon which the app relies (CMC-RDPS). It’s just not accurate for Southern Ontario winters, which is very prone to “lake effect” clouds. Could it be that the people responsible for this model didn’t account for lake effect? From what I’ve experienced over the past few months, the model that has consistently predicted the weather here (or, more particularly, cloud cover) has been the NAM model. That’s a shame because it predicts a lot more clouds than do the others - but that seems preferable to getting one’s hopes up for nothing time and again. It takes me an hour to set up and an hour to disassemble my kit. Then there’s the time wasted checking repeatedly to see whether the promised clearing has occurred. All tolled, I’ve wasted about fifteen hours over the last few weeks, hoping that Astrospheric’s far more favourable forecast was true - but it never was. I wonder if the developer could incorporate NAM model data into the app?
An amazing app for amateur astronomers
I’ve found no better way to get cloud forecasts than this app, or the much clunker to use website cleardarksky. This is so much more convenient, and the premium subscription, giving you more weather models to look at, is even better. Worth it if you have the money to spare.
Deleted
Resilient displays of advertisements. Prevented the ability to view/assess app through pop-up full-screen ads. Cannot expect users to blindly enable a paid subscription, under those circumstances. Otherwise, cloud forecasts can be found online WITHOUT being charged. App deleted.
What's not to like?
Free, functional, friendly. OK, enough with the alliteration. The app does a great job of presenting an observer's forecast. The developer seems to be responsive to issues in spite of the fact that he's not even getting paid for the app. A veryngood gift to the strargazing community.
So thankful for this!
Its nice to have a great app to provide cloud overview - now all I need is clear skies!
Zero prediction reliability - don’t waste time
Been trying to use this for years but it has a perfect zero reliability in Predicting cloud cover in the northeast. If I could give it a zero I would. I’ve put in Reports of the issue but what does the app developer do, nothing but think you should now pay for the worst forecasting imaginable!! Do t waste your time or money.
Wow, what an amazing app
This app has introduced me to so many useful tools. It’s my go-to app everyday to see what things will look like while I cross my fingers for ideal conditions for astrophotography. And the non-paid version isn’t intensely annoying with ads or anything, almost like the app makers care how it feels to use the app! What an idea!
This is a subscription app, not a purchase app
I don’t like paying subscriptions. I’ll only make a onetime purchase. It’s just not worth a subscription for occasional use. Deleting app.
Go To AstroPhoto App
There may be better apps, but I don’t know what they would be because I never have a reason not to open this app. I open it all the time I even live in a very cloudy area, but I wanna know when of those clouds gonna pass and if you can get that little Crosshairs directly over your house, which is easier to do you’re gonna have reliable readings. It takes the data that is available to everybody and makes it tailored specifically for people who need to see through the atmosphere.
