What people like
- Perfect for planning telescope observing sessions
- Shows weather data from many sources
- Developers fix bugs very quickly
- Interface is clean and straightforward
What they complain about
- App keeps crashing and becomes unusable
- Text is too small to read clearly
- Location input feels inconvenient and manual
Beautiful app
pearl handle to use!!!! One of my favorite!
Looks like garbage
Cannot tell what the sky is doing because this app is too hard to see and read. Violates all visual accessibility requirements. Can’t believe developers are still trying to get away with apps that look like this.
App update doesn’t scale on iPhone
Love the app. Latest 5.0 release doesn’t scale when viewed vertically on the iPhone. Annoying to rotate horizontally, sometimes requiring 2 hands. I miss the +/- buttons on previous version. The developers are amazingly responsive and have already contacted me for more info on my experience.
Resourceful
It definitely is a plus that user can get to other weather sites. Like to have the Bortle scale right on the main page too. Oct17,24 after update, meteoblue defaulted to Greek every time even iOS system changed makes no difference Now Xasteria is going into thin air. You see less but smell more adv.
Xasteria
Excellent
Crashes constantly
This app keeps crashing and is unusable
OK

Perth West Australia
Does not seem to display correct info on cloud cover for Perth in Western Australia, have checked a few different nights. Would be fantastic if it did.
It Just Works
It tells me everything I need to know about the weather conditions I can expect when planning a night out with the telescope
How to change the language?
The app seems good but I can only see the text in greek language and unfortunately I don’t understand it. How can I modify the lamguage setti gs? Thanks in advance...
Updated review
Review updated, app should be working again soon
Useful Simple App
The app simply provides the information you need to plan in an easy to use format.
Nice app. How about notifications?
I would love to get notifications when the seeing will be good and clouds minimal.
My Go-To App for Astro Weather
This is always the first app (and often the only app) I check to plan what nights I should pull out my telescope. It does a brilliant job of making it easy to see astronomically related forecast data from a variety of sources (some of which have no mobile apps), allowing me to easily compare to see what the forecast really looks like.
Xasteria
I have been using Xasteria for about 2 months and have been very pleased with it, however it has recently stopped working completely. I have tried reinstalling it but it still won’t work. Is there a problem? If it was still working I would have left 5 stars.
Great App
Extremely useful in planning observing sessions with all weather-related information I need presented in clean, straight-forward manner. Also like the added “alternative forecasts” feature that makes the NOAA satellite service and Clear Outside weather applications available. Recently I needed information for several areas on the US west coast plus several towns along the western Mexican coast but after my trip they were still listed in the app but no longer needed. Sent a note to Dimitrios asking if he could add a feature whereby unwanted locations could be removed. He actually put that in the latest revision and then sent me a note letting me know that that feature I requested was now available!
Great all around astronomy weather app, but not perfect
It works great for where I live in Philadelphia, but when I travel to the Greek islands it's pretty inaccurate
Favorite app to plan observing
Xasteria has become my go to app to plan observing sessions. Over the last three years it has continued to improve so that I now turn to it first. The improvements I value most are improvement of its weather prediction, incorporation of link outs to other prediction models and several smaller usability improvements.
Useful app
Accurate app which delivers what astronomers need.
One forecast I always check
Extremely helpful in planning astronomical observing runs.
good in general, wish there is a map to input
7timer is what i need, 1 star off because manual position input is not convenient, hope the app can use a map to select point
Intuitive with clean interface
Only gripe is that low clouds aren’t shown on main screen, which is useful in foggy areas. That said, the alternate forecasts do, so still giving 5 stars.
So far so good !
I just downloaded the app so I don't know how it will perform long term but it found my location accurately and shows all the data I was hoping it would. I think it will be a helpful tool for my backyard stargazing.
Great app
Great coverage of weather for astronomy!
Very useful
I use this app quite a bit and find it as accurate as any complex weather app can be. Helps plan my viewing times and what sort of astronomy I might aim for. Good choices of interface type and easy to use. If your an amateur astronomer or a pro give this a go.
