Accurate and timely
Use this app all the time and was excited to try it in northern Norway. While there, it sent me an alert and we had a 100%. Chance of seeing them. Unfortunately, every night of our twelve days there, we had fog and or clouds if not raining. We were excited to see that folks farther north had clear skies and wonderful photos. Maybe next year
Full screen junk ads? No thanks
Plenty of options out there. I’m y the one that doesn’t present a giant full-screen ad without an “x” button. Awful
Buggy
The app quits with no reason and switches too rapidly to adverts which means having to quit it. Push-notifications are good though.
Great app
Great app and quick responses to emails
Scammers using the app to advertise!
After the last update, I opened the app and received a “you phone has been infected with 42 viruses! Scan now!” Warning. Scammers are using the app to scam people out of money!
It’s nice but too many alerts
And unclear how I’d switch to daily alerts rather than anytime the sun makes the tiniest move. You can switch the level it will alert at (am giving that a try) but not the frequency.
Alerts
Way too many alerts for Auroras that are not in my area. It’s annoying.
Works well, but very annoying ads in free version

Best app
The notification are great and accurate. I was able to capture beautiful photos when the app told me the viewing was at just 6 %. Love this app.
Crashing when I open?
It’s March 8, 2025, and every time I try opening the app it immediately closes
Some what helpful
I like to have the opportunity to get the notifications of the possibility of seeing Aurora. But 99% of the time it’s not happening in my area so it’s kind of like a dud.
App not updating
I love this app, but as of yesterday the map is stuck and not updating. Please fix this!
For intuitive use to complex data.
The app has very simple intuitive displays for the casual user, but it also has an extensive choice of astrophysical parameters for the hard-core enthusiasts. For me, the best feature is that the Alerts are free, and can be be modified for several physical parameters.
Not reliable
Sending false warnings for Aurora sightings
needs a way to opt out of ads
Great app but no way to pay to get rid of the ads. In app purchase or pro version would be nice and would make the review a 5 star.
Too many ads
I’m still trying to figure out how to read this app but while I do that, I keep getting all kinds of ads. Super annoying.
Northern Lights
As an avid consumer of anything and everything science, especially in the field of astronomy, I truly appreciate this app. I like how pertinent details (of the Sun) which explain how the light display is produced are explained in the discussion section. The dialogue is heavy in detail, but it’s enlightening to read. The graphics depicting where the lights are predicted to display is always helpful. I’m always ready to observe the lights whenever traveling to northern Wisconsin and the app is always ready for action.
Dark mode
An app primarily used for nighttime viewing doesn’t have dark mode. Seems odd
Need to use everyday language
This may be a great app but the information is too technical, written by and for scientists. I don’t understand the information, even with a masters degree but not in science.
one of my bucket items. I plan to be ready when the app says I will have a chance. Thank you
This app is Awesome. It gives it to you in scientific terms, but explains everything in commonmbthh. Keep up the good work. Ps, can you make the lights visible in Cincinnati please. If you can do that I will give you ten stars Just kiddn
Annoying pop up ads
It would be a great app if there weren’t ads popping up with ear blowing noise/music on them. Can’t stop the ad - very disappointed by this.
Useless
If you’re like me and got this app so you could be alerted when the Aurora was visible from where you live, then you will be disappointed. For example, it will not be dark here until 3-4 hours from now. Yet, this application has been spamming my notifications for the past hour. It goes on fits where it will spam notifications - never actually at a time when it would be possible to see Aurora from my location. And then when the Aurora IS visible from my location, nothing. I’ve had this app for a year, and live in a location where Aurora is visible a handful of times a year, and this app has never notified me that Aurora is visible. I always find out the next day, in the news. In my opinion, the best way to ensure you are notified is to set-up alerts based on Twitter mentions / keywords.
Great app
Thanks this app was very useful, easy to understand .
Malware ads - beware!
Came up with a malware "your phone is full" fake warning malware ad. Immediately uninstalled.
Northern lights
This is the third app I have downloaded and tried. This one is the keeper!! It explains what to look for and you don’t have to be an astronaut to know when the northern lights will be in your area 👍
So many ads it’s useless
The info is there, but you’re bombarded by a ton of noisy ads at every turn. Either let me pay to opt out, or reign them in. Uninstalling this and relying on my other apps until you fix the problem. It’s just not worth the hassle.
Delightful
I enjoyed this app so much last summer while in Maine. I am very excited that visibility may be improved in locations a bit farther south than where we watched from last August, due to the clearer skies that we are all experiencing. This app has inspired me to learn more about the night sky!
Useless
Ads pop up at very inopportune times and the data load is very buggy. It’s basically useless.
Useful!
This app has a variety of forecasts as well as varying ways of visualizing the data it gives you. Very useful and replaced my previous aurora app. The developers are fast to reply to questions via email.
App run amok
This app has gone into hyper mode - I shut off all notifications, but it still pings me with alerts (it’s 1:35am, at this moment). Help! When I do go up to the WI Northwoods, I’d love to use this, but meanwhile I need my sleep! I have no choice but to delete this.
