App not working
I’ve tried everything but the app does not work so buying petroleum from somewhere else now. It’s so annoying
Finally works but extremely slow
After months of being unable to pay using the app now it works but extremely slow at each step/screen, even when reviewing history and profile at home on superfast wifi. Doesn’t send receipt via email even when selected.
Very bland
This is far below the standard of other fuel apps. No option to look at my points. It’s just a number stuck in the top corner. I have no clue what the points relate to. Very bland app. Home Screen especially is very dull.
Good app but slow
Useful app and it’s nice to not have to go into the shop but it seems to get slower with every update. Slow to load the station, slow to confirm payment. It is now quicker to just go into the shop and pay after filling up.
Very poor
Never recognises the petrol station I am out, I then scan the Manuel qr code on the pump. Authorise the payment, and the transaction fails. So I then have to go into the shop manually to pay. Would not recommend
Less features, more issues
This app used to be great! Stacking offers and rarely went down. Now I cannot use some cards, I can’t stack offers and the app is down I’d say 20-30% of the time!
Hit and miss
Apple Pay fails multiple times even though the money has been taken out (pending of course) Hesitant to use the app if this is an ongoing issue

And then couldn’t pay after filling up which was a bit annoying
New app is slow
Takes a long time to load, and then another long time to find the station. The old app was faster.
Doesn’t quite work as it should
The App is useful for avoiding the queue in my local ESSO but it is a bit bizarre the way it won’t fill up to the amount selected. I selected £40 and the pump stopped at £37.09. Next time I selected £30 but the pump stopped at £27.55. On neither occasion was it because the tank was full so why does this happen?
Poor service
No PIN, not clear which places can take app payment. Rubbish
Trying to pay in the app is useless
The old version of the app worked fine. Now when you have to get authorisation from your banking app, this app opens up numerous other screens instead of staying on the same payment page which should allow you to click the “Payment has been verified” button once you have confirmed in your banking app. It fails every time.
V poor app design
Unintuitive trying to add card details. Bizarre link pops up to down arcot.com. Often does not work at service stations and just goes into a frozen mode. Why oh why don’t web app developers try and use them to determine errors before roll out. Just lazy.
Clunky app
Slow and clunky app. Takes forever to load. By the time it does you could have already paid for your petrol. Will actively avoid Esso as a result as BPs app is way better
Slow to pay
It used to take payment via PayPal without extra verification but now is more trouble than it’s worth. Sadly.

Slow and clunky
This app is far worse than the one it replaced. It’s very slow to fire up and becomes very clunky and slow to respond when finding stations and taking payments. Also doesn’t auto email receipts like the last version. A real step backwards and it puts me off using Esso stations if I can avoid them. BP and Shell apps have none of these issues so become my brand choice for simple trouble free fill ups.
Rubbish
So far I’ve added my Esso fuel card it showed me my pin so I could use it, it’s now disappeared so can’t see my pin number can’t use my fuel card complete waste of time
Used to be great, now useless
Used to use this app for fuelling up , as did my partner. But the last 6 times I’ve tried, it has failed multiple times, not ideal when you are holding up a queue of cars or are alone at night and just wanting to get back in your car for safety. Tried uninstalling, not working. Big shame.
