How to turn off auto renewal
Under the right circumstances Brompton Bikes is a very useful service. If you don’t want to auto renew your membership go to Account Settings -> Profile, and un-tick the box
Terrible app, promising service
Endless useless and cryptic error messages. Charged my card multiple times without actually allowing me to set up an account. I had to go to the website to creat my account only to be told they must call me to complete the process. Wish the app could have told me that!
Number of bikes at each location
App should tell you how many bikes are at each location. We wanted to rent two bikes, but each location seem to only have one, so we didn't rent any
Request denied
App kept saying Request could not be completed when I asked to hire after I registered. Frustrating.
The App just doesn’t work
I’ve tried to register a dozen times. The app tells me it can’t continue or simply freezes on the page that would offer an opportunity to submit ID. I hope the bikes work better than the IT.
Can’t verify ID to start
Quite disappointing that you can’t upload your ID to verify yourself to start renting. Makes the app and service completely useless and a non-starter
Bad App
Tried for over an hour to get past the confirm identity part of the sign up process. App would never let me select a form of I.D. To input. Tech support just told me to delete the app and re-install. That just led to the same problem.
Waste of time
The app requires payment authorization which is harder to get through than any immigration system. Live chat could only help confirm your email, which no where in the app says a verification is needed. Then payment even after bank app verification cannot be authorized. Calling the hotline was basically the same. All very nice people but the back end simply does not cooperate. My credit card now has 10s of pending 0.01 transactions from Brompton hire, but my account is still not working! And one account per bike, imagine setting up 2 accounts.
Couldn’t figure it out
I’ve set up every kind of account in an app but couldn’t figure this one out. Wouldn’t accept 2 credit cards. Bye.
App non functional
I tried setting up my account as a new member but the app would not let me submit my identification. After talking with support it allowed me to submit but would not approve a driver’s license or passport after numerous attempts. I tried to reconnect with support but the live chat function wasn’t connecting and the leave a message option would not recognize my checking of the h captcha box to prove I was human. Truly frustrating and waste of time. Lovely idea though.
Bad App and Customer Support
You would think a company that has the ingenuity to make the best foldable bike in the world would be able to have a basic app that works. I was traveling from out of the country and was so excited to use the kiosks in London during my trip. It took hours to set up an account with tech support because they could not verify my phone’s location while on wifi at my hotel. Tech support also continued to gaslight me and tell me “there is nothing wrong with the app.” All the bad reviews say otherwise.
Don’t waste your time
The app doesn’t work. Requires a form of ID but won’t let me add one. Utterly useless. This is after entering credit card details. When I selected “delete account” the app said a team member would be in touch. So they can swipe your credit card and take all your details…. instantly. Then not provide access and then make it difficult to delete your account. Definitely give this one a wide berth.
